B&H combines great prices, fast shipping and good selection, all in one. I prefer them over Amazon for proaudio/video as B&H prices are often better with fast shipping. They are located on the East Coast but I still receive my packeges in California three days later. Free shipping on orders $49 or great is great. I just ordered three high quality 25 foot XLR cables, delivered to me for under $50. No one can compete with that.

Huge selection, friendly and knowledgeable staff who help you make the best purchase instead of wasting money on overkill items that you don't need. That would be enough, but the addition of low prices in comparison to competitors makes this the best store around the area for tech.

This place is absolutely incredible! I have always seen it in my head as a glorified Radio Shack with a warehouse in Queens or something, but when you walk in you can't help but realize that this place is legit-- top of the line professionals selling professional equipment. Even if you are just starting out or pursuing a hobby, they will treat you the same as if you are buying for the business you've been doing for years. Walking through here is like being in a cross between geek Disneyland and a tech convention. Everyone who worked here new a remarkable amount about their Department and products. They offer free classes on site- if you aren't in the city, its an easy two-ish blocks from Penn station. Totally worth a trip!

Just be ready for a complicated process to buy something. Counter A to order the item, counter B to pay, and counter C for pickup. Obviously if something is on display them you don't have that whole process but a lot of things aren't on display. Overall very easy though because there are TONS of employees telling you what to do.

I purchased a new lens with drops and spills protection. When I received the item I noticed paint flakes that indicated peeling in the lens barrel. I did not promptly return the lens for an exchange-assuming that with the price paid and protection plan B and H would make good on the purchase. I found out too late that I had 30 days to return the item. Lesson learned, check what you buy here and return promptly if you find it defective. I had better luck purchasing white box, used, and grey market at reduced prices.

This place is a well-oiled machine of customer service. It's like an assembly live that moves you from browsing to selection to payment to getting your goods. They're selection can't be beat, their people are knowledgeable and their prices are competitive. I understand the whole Friday/Saturday hours thing, and I'm used to it now so I can't complain, but a lot of people still have a problem with it.

B&H is, in my opinion, the gold standard for camer...

B&H is, in my opinion, the gold standard for camera equipment in New York City. I've yet to need something uber specific and find that B&H doesn't have it. Customer service is incredible and ease of use is astounding. If you go to B&H, don't bother searching for what you need on your own! Walk in and ask the first employee you see for exactly what you want. They will know where you need to go and you can be in and out in 10 minutes if you want to. It's a modern wonder of the world. Go B&H!

I ordered a lens "New" from B&H Photo and once it arrived I opened the box to discover it had already been used. There was white stuff all over the lens cap and boby of the lens, the lens bag was full of lent and stringy hair. It looked like it could've been a trade in (that someone obviously didn't take good care of) but they re-sold it as new. Very disappointed!

AVOID THESE THIEVES

I ordered a GTX980Ti last year, got it, didn't work right--driver issues. They ignored my RMA requests. Had to go to the manufacturer to get it exchanged. Manufacturer tells me the card is a 970 with a 980's cooler and stickers on it. Further evidence of the swap is the static bag the card came in was only taped shut, not factory heat sealed. Someone in their warehouse or fulfillment process swapped out my card for one worth less than half its value. Tried to get the charge reversed but it was a Tax Refund card so was impossible. They offered a discount coupon for my next purchase for compensation but Im never going back to them if I can help it. Have tried to bring this to light on their media pages but they keep removing the post to hide their corrupt business.

The most awful company I have ever tried to order from. When my order did not arrive on time I emailed the store asking if it had been sent. After they had taken the money from my paypal account. I got no response after a fortnight of waiting so had to take it up through paypal to get it sorted. After over a month they transferred the money back finally with no apology or reason it was not sent. I will never buy from this company again.

No better place to go. If they don't have it they find it. They are by far the most knowledgeable. The big plus is they have been around forever. I have been shopping with them for 30 years. I bought my first camera through them 30 years ago and have shopped there ever since. A place you could trust.

Great store with huge variety of every thinkable AV related equipment. There delivery, service & customer care leaves nothing amiss.

Apart from a very good buying experience it's the visit to store itself that's always a pleasure. I would recommend it as a part of your Manhattan visit weather you plan to buy something or not.

This place is bonkers in the best way. I walked in to the sound of green bins flying overhead to fulfillment, which was a sight. The staff was very knowledgeable, and incredibly helpful. The place ran like a well-oiled machine. I can't wait to go back and see what else there is.

They got everything. I wish if they didn't close on Saturday though. That's the day I get off. Don't buy into their free parking. Unless you're spending over a certain amount it's not free. If you ever wanna get something from best buy price matched, this is the store to match it to. They've got a lot of stuff. Transitioning towards video but this is a photo first place. That being said, I doubt anyone else will have a Sony Cinealta in stock. Try these guys. They're the only one in entire New York...

Honestly a bit intimidating at my first visit but quickly learned how helpful the staff are. There are a lot of employees on the floor to help customers who are knowledgeable. Their system is very efficient and can get you in and out of there so quickly! One star off for the worker discrimination articles I recently read about them -- seems to be from a few years ago but still need to do a bit more research on it.

Came to B&H to buy a new camera. This place is huge and packed to the rafters with all types of cameras, video, audio, computers, printers etc. it can be overwhelming. There are floor staff that can direct to the area that interest you. I was interested in a DSLR. I've had 35mm film cameras and have a small Nikon digital point & shoot. I took a friend with me who knows digital cameras. We went to the Nikon booth and the salesman Gerry was very helpful & knowledgeable. Discussed what camera might give me the type of functions I've known in a film camera and quality of picture. After much discussion and Gerry's recommendation I decided on the Nikon 5600. Its a lot of camera and I have a lot to learn. It came with 2 lens, 1 battery & 1 charger, 1 SD card and a camera strape. I also bought 2 UV filters, camera case, lens case, extra battery & SD card. This was my B'day gift to myself. Oh and it came with a program download sent to my email address. I think it does some kind of wireless transfer of you photos. And they had a credit card offer where they reimburse the taxed amount to you so you get an add'l discount. You have 30 days to decided if you happy with your purchase or return the camera for a full refund (so hold onto all the packaging just in case). They also have one-on-one teaching for your new camera. I'll be back there next week.

Walked in and was directed to what I was looking for. Salesman standing by waiting to help. Checkout was quick and they helped me load my purchase into the car. Couldn't be more pleased. Will definitely be back.

Careful when returning items and document packaged items. I was certain to include all items when they claim one expensive one was missing. Supervisor Josh in Customer Service was no help to this decades long customer. They claim they use CCTV on unpacking, but there is no system that advanced that can pick up an individual box's RMA (I install CCTV systems). Request they show me the clip and of course they didn't. If they did have something like this than there must be good reason for it. I think it's all smoke and mirrors as the customer has the burden of proof. Henry, the PR agent, is paid to say they will help to resolve, but it's all public relation spin as you can see in these replies.

Extremely unhappy with your company and service as I would give you zero stars if possible and will be returning all my products ordered now. I ordered overnight delivery on Tuesday this week and the man assured me it would be here by Thursday and as I absolutely needed these for a performance on Sunday and I paid for overnight on Tuesday - then I called you Thursday when they didn t arrive and you said they would be here Friday. The fedex shipping says they will be here Monday. Now I am forced to buy a local product that I did not want to amd you can see I don t need your product anymore than I need your lies. Your company is for a lack of a better term idiotic. You shouldn t charge overnight shipping rates and promise a product at a certain time twice and not deliver. Buyers be ware.

Purchased a product that was non-refundable, which I would understand if it arrived and was not compatible, however, they do not have the item, nor did they have a way to obtain it since it was discontinued by the manufacturer over a year ago. In a case where they are selling items they do not have, a refund should still be an option since they are selling items that do not exist.

Also, the range of equipment here is like nothing else on earth; if I had needed even rare, highly professional sound recording kit for a film-shoot, this shop would have sold it to me. If you want something quickly for professional use, it is likely to be here.

But you can get better prices on-line.

The legendary B&H lives up to its reputation every...

The legendary B&H lives up to its reputation every time I visit. This holds true in selection, in knowledgeable sales and support staff (Imagine that; a store that both hires people with a detailed knowledge of the products they sell, or take the time a and effort to train them properly. It's so unusual - go into most T-Mobile or PC Richard stores and ask even the most rudimentary questions) that it's a reminder of how things SHOULD BE, to a point. You WON'T have this experience at B&H. That's for sure. But you better be used to dealing with Hasidim, and all that implies. If you're a woman, forget even basic courtesy, unless you get a lecherous old guy. But despite the, shall we say, "poor inter-personal skills" overlook that and you'll find an extensive collection, a USED department that has items with a guarantee, and prices that are competitive. If you really want to avoid the first part, or you're just an anti-Semite, then shop online. The prices are more or less competitive, and you can be sure YOU'LL GET WHAT you ordered, and get it when promised. I recommend them unreservedly for amateurs, all the way through to the "pro-sumer" segment of people in the video world.

If you're a photographer then you already know all about B&H. They're my first stop when I need something new (and usually my only stop since they almost always have exactly what I need in stock).

For an online experience they're absolutely the best store I've dealt with. I can't recommend them enough.

Completely inadequate service and follow through. I will never use this company again. Stay on top of your order and the delivery process or they end up taking your money and giving you store credit without your permission. Honestly, I order from online companies all the time and never have had an experience as frustrating as this.

Purchased 2 laptops from website. Site clearly claimed they were Windows 10 Professional at the time of purchase. Received laptops and they are Windows 10 Home. Opened my shipping receipt sent to me by the vendor and it also clearly states they are supposed to have Windows 10 Professional on them. Contacted vendor and they looked at the product page and say it does not include Windows 10 Professional but lists as Windows 10 Home. Explained to the vendor that this was not the case when I ordered the product from them and I believe they realized after the fact that they had the incorrect information on their site and went back and corrected it after I had ordered. I also explained I have the receipt from them and their system that states I am correct. They request I email them the receipt which they receive, and then rather than just admit their mistake and take care of the customer they insult me and say that I have forged the receipt and would not allow me to return them. This company has hysterically bad customer service and use bait and switch tactics.

Placed order and didnt ship next day as posted on website. Didnt get any notification that there were going to be delays. Contacted customer service and supervisor, both gave generic apology and neither tried to right the wrong. Bad first experience. Very deceiving.

Update: After I was promised my order would ship that day. It did not. If I can give this place no stars I would. Supervisors promised order would be shipped day of and it still didnt. This is horrible customer service. Supervisors were no help.

An amazing assortment of camera equipment and elec...

An amazing assortment of camera equipment and electronics. I could easily spend my entire paycheck here. Thankfully the staff doesn't push add ons, but they do suggest items that pair well with your purchase.

Their system for purchasing is complicated but seems to be efficient. The only downside of this place is how slammed it is, all the time. It makes the shopping experience feel hectic and rushed.
