Very clean and trustworthy will always use this place
It was ok even though they only carry limited amounts of animals; I wouldn't recommend, if you're seeking to browse; theres not much to see at 92nd street, but ACC on 110th street has much more to see
They were very nice people and the doctors and nurses showed my cat so much affection. Love the new policies put in place. Love ASPCA
Our first experience with the adoption of our second dog it was a very great experience when it came to understanding the information provided by the wonderful and caring staff.
Totally ineffective when it comes to an animal in distress in the community. They tell you to call 311, call 911 or NYPD. Meanwhile 311, 911 and NYPD tell you to call ASPCA. If they transferred me (in mid-sentence, without even listening to how I was trying to help the animal) to someone in the ASPCA who was, I guess, supposed to help, have fun leaving message after message with no one calling you back. EVER.
If you are going to put out all these ads asking for money for all the help you do for animals, at least do it, or know how to refer people to other who can actually help. We tried and we tried, now a kitten is dead who starved trapped behind a wall- with no help from anyone, and no thanks to the ASPCA.
Good luck calling them if there's an animal in distress. By the time you've dealt with their beureaucratic time-wasting, you'll probably have a dead animal and you'll definately be tearing your hair out. It's absolutely mind-numbing.
It's all about the money with these people. They really could not care less about an animal dying in the streets. I will always associate the ASPCA with this dead kitten, and vise versa, as now this heartbreaking experience is seared into my mind.
The cat that I adopted developed an infection from surgeries done on him by the ASPCA before I adopted him. They refuse to provide documentation of the surgeries done on him and the medications given to him. They told me that they extracted only two teeth and months later confessed that they actually extracted 6 teeth. My cat drools blood in his sleep and has an ear infection from the ears that they dd surgery on. Where is the information from these procedures? They do shoddy work and then close their ears when the new owners find out that things went awry.
My husband and I adopted our kitten FIONA from here. They were very pleasant and patient with us.
I recommend highly
A bunch of liars and we strongly feel they racially profile people going in to adopt. They lied about my cat having ringworm keeping her for a month. When i went to pick her up i asked what medications she might need to keep the ringworm away... the behavior doctor looked confused and said she never had ringworm. What their intentions were in making such a lie like that?? I wish i knew.
We also adopted a second cat so she has a companion since we work such long hours. As the volunteers ask the quetionaire on cat experience i felt like i had to over explain my answers as she stared us up and down like we were liars, or abusers. Anyway the racial tension became very clear to us. A few minutes later a short fat white woman (probably some kind of supervisor) walked into the adoption waiting room and loudly/ rudely told us we werent qualified to adopt a cat at that moment. To come back in 2 weeks and walked away leaving us feeling embarrased.. Like we did something wrong right in front of our 5 year old son. Left feeling like we werent worthy of respect because of our skin color.
When we came back to adopt the second cat they had no info on him, i asked if he was a street cat and the volunteer played stupid as if she didn't know. We liked him so much we adopted him but the longer we have him the more we realize he was in fact a street cat. We work on his habits regadless but the aspca shouldn't lie to clients just to get rid of the cats quicker.
Its been a month now and the way these people treated us and lied to us on both occasions weighed pretty heavy. Which is why i feel people of color especially may need to read through this.
Untrustworthy, liars and rude. Nasty people, never again.
Excellent veterinarians! Hospital is "state of the art".
My dog was released from surgery stay the day of the freak snow storm 2018. Charge Nurse fixed "overly abundant pot luck meal" & food for dog. Two nurses braved the storm & got us a . My sheroes!
Very helpful when my dog is sick. But they go by appointment
They are very good with animals my kitty passed away and they took care of everything thank you very much ASPCA
Amazing people doing amazing things to save the lives of animals. Could'nt be mroe proud!
They say to be here 1 hour previous adoption but you need the whole day here to get a dog you didn't even chose!
Ultimately helpful for our pet when there were practically no other options but really weird people that may have been rude (or maybe just weird) & an ARMED GUARD that walked across the room to hover next to me & my 3y.o. as we were signing in for our cat's appointment... Creepy/menacing
Went to go adopt, get told I can t because everyone in the house has to be available. But the part that hit me was when we went to go see the dogs at least, the girl showing us around called this particular dog stupid and dumb , and not just once either. She repeatedly continued to call this dog stupid while me and my friend sat there in shock honestly. How can you have people who work in a shelter like this clearly not love their job? I honestly think I won t support a place like this for employees to abuse, even verbally, animals
Got my dog from them nice and simply. Meanwhile the staff were friendly, helpful, and outgoing.
Asking me to share experiences with my visit this is my home my home is welcome to any & all 2 legged,4 legged, wings or.. ETC. None judgemental
I've been here several times. And I always appreciate the care they give the animals, as well as the understanding they have for the adopters as well. They care that there is a good match that the skill level to care for the pet is there. And everyone is always so nice. Big thanks for the pets that I've gotten from them. Always a great match and filled our home with love.
I got my first cat there, looks that they take care of them, also its a pretty clean place.
Wonderful warm compassionate people who really care for the animals!
We went there without great hopes of adopting a cat that day, but it all worked out in about an hour. We got our little 10-month old Luna with the character traits (docile, cuddle-friendly) we wanted. While we waited (they run a background check on you), two other people wanted her.
Take wonderful care of the animals! I just started fostering pets with them and they couldn't be more hands on and helpful.
The staff was very nice and took good care of my dog and patient. I wish all the best. God bless.
This place is PATHETIC. Brought a kitten to them and they did not accept him because the kitten was nervous and scratched the vet during exam. They gave me address of 2 other shelters that would kill him after 3 days. Thank you very much ASPCA, that's exactly why I brought the kitten, to see him get killed. I took the kitten to a more competent place.
The people here are so helpful. And paired me with an amazing bounded pair of cute cats
It is a very good animal hospital and very courteous treatment
They were on time, polite and friendly.
I was disappointed that I didn't get a call to see if everything is ok.
I adopted Toto from ASPCA, and he is an absolute love. He is a tiny mixed-breed, explosive soul that my friends and family can't live without either. ASPCA's process was great, and I felt very supported throughout. They nurtured Toto beautifully. Great job, guys!
I applied for adoption of a dog, and although the dog I was interested in was adopted. they took the time to find exactly the right animal for my home. They made sure what level of comfort I had with different types of dogs and I spoke to several different teams to ensure I was fully aware of the animal I was adopting. The took the time to have me speak to behavioral specialists and the vet being careful to answer every question we had. I will add pictures of Vanilla Bean as soon as she arrives later this week.
Kind and compassionate people. Super friendly and helpful staff.
Not as helpful as you would expect. Plus very high adoption fees.
Outstanding vet care and follow up. As of March 2013, the space is undergoing renovations, so the temp quarters next door can be cramped, noisy and feel a bit disorganized, but in the end it all seems to come together.
Adoption process was nicely done.Place is clean and animals are taken care of.They don't make adoption as daunting as other animal shelters where you have to almost pass a behavioral inspection yourself before being able to see the breeds they want you to see.So I like ASPCA for being careful enough to make sure you will be a good owner but also to give you the option to choose the animal you would like as a companion.Adoption fees are the regular price charged elsewhere.
I now have a lovely cat :)
While on observation in the waiting room; I found this ASPCA's ideology, dogmatic. Any vocalized thought of differing opinion will cement you on a list to never acquire a pet from the ASPCA.
If you want to rescue a lovely anamal, it is best you just 'yes them off' at every step of the process, this way you can continue rescuing animals and making the world a better place.
ADOPT YOUR KITTEN FROM HERE!! After weeks of running around to find a kitten that looked pretty from online rescues, I was thoroughly disappointed. I turned to the ASPCA and found my sweet and beautiful kitten. They make you fill out a pre-adoption form that isn't invasive like other rescues' questions are. It's mostly asks what you'd like for in a pet. My main concern was that I'd adopt a kitten that was skittish, hissed and clawed a lot. But the kittens here are SO WELL BEHAVED. She helped me choose which one would be better suited for me as a first time cat owner. They work with you personally which is what I love. They're so sterile and it doesn't have a bad smell at all. They talked to me about what to do/what not to do. Also provided so much FREE STUFF. They gave me a collar, days worth of dry food + wet food and a toy. I'm forever thankful for them. Don't forget to bring a letter (any letter) that confirms your address. The adoption fee is $125 and if you get another one, IT'S FREE! Seriously cannot praise this place enough.
Do not buy pets, adopt, give a little animal the opportunity to have a home and be loved and respected.
The treatment with animals is equal to that of a person. It is excellent. I love.
I AM EXTREMELY GRATEFUL IF NOT FOR THEM HELPING ME THERES A BIG POSABILITY THAT PEBBLES (MY DOG) COULD GET WORSE AND DIE. THEY ARE TAKING GREAT CARE OF HER AS I WRITE THIS REVIEW AND I AM SO THANKFUL FOR THAT. THEY ARE NOT JUST ABOUT THE MONEY YOU CAN REALLY TELL THEY CARE FOR ALL ANIMALS.
Very good hospital
Thank God they exist.
Be prepared to fill out a questionnaire and if you already have pets, you should bring them with you if you're trying to adopt on the spot
You meet so many people who truly love there jobs and wonderful pets that put a smile on your face
I adopted two cats from this center, and was told that both were healthy and vetted. Well, one of them had to be treated for a respiratory infection, and the other died shorty after due to a medical problem that they either didn't care to check for or weren't competent enough to see. I've spent more than $5000 on these two cats and my heart is broken over the loss. And when contacted to ask what could be done about this whole mess, they blew me off and said it wasn't their problem. Will never go here again or recommend it to anyone.
I adopted from the ASPCA. They really want to be sure their animals go to good families.
Excellent service and free call for any questions and kitty dog emergencies
Adopted a cute german shepard puppy, great place for a beginner who is new, clean place and they gave us a good amount of food sample which gave us an idea on what he should eat plus they provided us with a accessories for the puppy! i recommend to check it out
Very caring.... sympathetic & empathetic... Took care of my best friend in his final moments.
Very organized shelter. Knowledgeable staff. Definitely would recommend going here first for a cat adoption over some of the smaller shelters in the city
Great facility! The care is amazing. My cat was so happy.
Both shelter and hospital personnel is very nice and caring. Easy to call them without sitting half hour on the line, and only an hour long (or maybe even less) adoption procedure. So if you feel like giving a home to a kitty or a dog don't hesitate and go there.
Friendly atmosphere and adorable animals to choose from...
I had brought my cat to the aspca on Thursday July 30 after I had tried another veterinarian on 2nd Ave because it basically came down to a money issue an what you could afford so being im low income they recommend I bring my baby here to the ASPCA. When I called they were so pleasant and caring , when I got there they immediately took her to the back I answered some questions and told the receptionists what was the issue , the Dr that was caring for Pawz was so nice and compassionate she knew how upset I was because my baby was pretty sick after they had her in the back then the Dr.said they would like to keep her over night to do blood work, urinaligys and observation not once did they ask what I could afford and then the Dr. Told me everything would be free because of the covid pandemic, I was totally in Shock a complete blessing, it was only right that I donate, needles to say my beloved Pawz did not make it but I am so grateful for everyone that took care of my baby Pawz they are truly a blessing.
It's a very nice place and they cared for my dog like it was there own
After having to put my best friend down, I never thought I would ever love another yet here I am totally in love with my new fur baby. Princess will never be replaced or forgotten yet he needs someone to love. Achilles chose me
Got our dog there and he's a wonderful addition to our household. They did a nice job helping us through the process and being honest about his health and behavioral quirks. Upon adoption, the dog came with some food and all the needed tags to give us a successful start.
Love this place. I'm a volunteer. They do amazing work!
Went for the animal hospital the wait was long but they helped me so much with my kitten and I am really greatful honestly
What's going on here? Was only shown sick cat enclosures. Video was playing in the wait area of kittens and cats at play. The ASPCA website made it seem as if there were an array of kittens and cats to choose from. Hardly saw any. Is this a sham? Website is outdated. Who's running this place? As a first-time pet owner, I thought this would be the one place to start. Time wasted. Got better results from a perfect stranger, after the ASPCA visit. On my way to becoming a pet parent.
Great atmosphere the adoption process was very fast and the staff was super responsive and friendly
Excellent service they are very careful very professional everything very clean thanks
