Back in mid March my family fostered a puppy that suffered head trauma and abuse. Long story short, my family fell completely in love and began the adoption process.

The ASPCA got involved to conduct a cruelty investigation about the abuse she suffered. The rescue we fostered her from was told that when the investigation was over, she would be returned to the them, and then be ours.

We spent weeks having the rescue check in every few days about our pup. Then we get the devastating news that the ASPCA vet decided to keep our pup even though the ASPCA and the vet KNEW our girl was pre-adopted by the family who took her in. The ASPCA allowed this vet to adopt our pup even though they are not currently processing adoptions during COVID.

This is one of the most unethical, unprofessional, and dirtiest things a company can do and we are absolutely disgusted, angry, and heartbroken that our girl isn't going to be coming home.

These incompetent compulsive lying con-men deliberately continue to mislead their patrons and endanger the lives of their pets.

When you catch them lying and continue to call them out on their incompetence they keep trying to side-step and place blame on others. Even have the audacity to try to blame you. They are so stupid, they think you and everyone else can be manipulated in thinking their malice and gross negligence is non-existent and that it somehow is your fault.

This seems to be the theme with many establishments in NYC. re: check out my other reviews.

In a nutshell: I bring my cat who I thought might have a broken leg to them as instructed by their phone rep. 2x. On both occasions I went through the stress of getting my injured cat in a carrier and trekking her to the U.E.S. all the way from Long island, with the false assurance that my cat would be treated indefinitely.

On both occasions, I was told the phone repair we're wrong and shouldn't have told me that.
Where the phone repair supposedly works for ASPCA corporate and has a higher seniority then the FOH staff at this circus-sideshow.

The first time I went there the orderly told me she would indefinitely speak to the manager of the phone rep. to prevent this disinformation from happening again.
But I got the same BS the next day, where I was turned away again, while they were allowing others to walk in without grim emergencies.

This is where it gets very telling: the first time I visited the FOH orderly offers to have my cat "Triaged by a vet", and I accept. Then come back and tells me my cat does in fact have a broken leg, however they cannot treat her since they are at capacity. #moreBS #bias #favoritism #discrimination #SorrySirURwhite

I then take my cat to the AMC where I discover my cat never had a broken leg; that she simply had a bite from some raccoon or ferrel cat that got infected. 1 hour later I'm off home with my cat and a big load is lifted off my back.

These criminals should be thrown in jail for pretending to be professional Vets and misleading oblivious patrons.

Don't bring your pet here unless you want to be taken for a Grimm ride and like your time/money wasted.

We have received amazing treatment in such a difficult time. The staff's kindness and patience when dealing with us "panicky" people, is really outstanding. I can't thank ASPCA enough for not only treating our sick animals, but they also care for our - the owners - hearts. They say hi when we enter the room, they call our pets "babies", they communicate at every step, they are vwry sensitive when discussing monetary restrictions, they explain everything - risks, procedures, what to expect - all that in a manner that's nothing less than top notch. I don't know who runs this place, but he or she does a great job. Thank you

ASPCA is one of the best places to find information on the humane treatment of animals across the country. They do a lot of drives and functions and also have various methods of donating; including time and financial funding. Check it out!

So clean and well managed. Staff even describe each cats s personality/socialibility, which is very helpful for me to look for a calm and affection cat. Connected with a one year old boy and is taking him home! Thanks.

This was the most wonderful pet adoption experience ever. Someone personally takes you back and guides you in holding and picking a kitten. The kittens are in very clean cages (I can't even call it that because they are pretty big and clean and nice). They are all so kind and wonderful, and they give you some food to take home, some toys from their cage, and a vet voucher. They give you a hugeeeee packet with all the information you could ever need on your new pet and a number to call a behavior specialist if you are nervous about introducing two pets. My cat, Charlie, is the best cat I have ever had. I will forever come back to this place to adopt my next pet.

They treat you and your new pet like you should be treated. I remember when I first brought home my baby boy Dreamer they set me up with everything I needed for him all the information of his past everything I need to do for his future yes he can be a pain in my butt sometimes because he wants to play when I get home from work but I love him so very much and I have ASPCA to thank for that.

I went to adopt a dog with my mother, and I fell in love with one but it was on hold without anything to notify the potential adopter of that. I feel it s bad that they do this. My mother said that they are being a tad discriminatory as who they give the animal to but I ll be getting my animal from elsewhere.

For a 1st timer this was a terrifying yet amazing experience . The staff are so funny and easy going which is great cause you can be taken over by fear from time to time from being so high up. The tips are absolutely safe and the views are absolutely stunning. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for an adventure.

I had to give them 5 stars!!! I love CATS!!!A wonderful organization that takes cares of those tiny family members of the family. They took care of baby, Prince. A tuxedo cat that I had in my life for 23 years. I miss her. She was one of the loves of my life.
Support them in any way that you can. I do!!

This place a is like heaven for pets they take care of u right away I REMEBER my dog her name is Tinkerbell Tribelli she alive thanks to the wonderful doctors that saved her life she almost died on me why because she's likes to be nosey like a dog and put her head in my bookbag to eat cookies that she wasn't supposed to eat also on that note the ASPCA also made a little story about it great people and great responsibilities they have

I can't understand why it's so hard to adopt a dog. I understand the need to vet prospective owners. But the rigmarole you have to go through and then be charged hundreds of dollars to give a pet a new home. Is plain crazy. We are now looking to buy from a dog breeder. Something the shelter's want us to stop doing. So why make it so hard? Anyone we've asked where they got their dogs from. All said they gave up trying pet rescue and bought their dog's privately. Animal rescue needs to reevaluate their adoption process.

I adopted my two cats (now 5 years old), when they were just 8 weeks old on an ASPCA adoption van in Union Square. They were very efficient in checking my background and offered veterinary services for a limited time after adopting them.

Pumpkin and Spice are my loves and I have the ASPCA to thank for that!

They were fixed at 2months for free, and when I had a follow up, the vets there were very nice and supportive to my crazy cat fancies.

Also, they called us for our appointment as Spice and Pumpkin Sheppard...which, while it took me a beat to realize, it was DELIGHTFUL

Absolutely great. I had an inside line because my girlfriend fosters kittens for them so the kitts I got I already had a close bond with . However they have a very good way of screening the adopted parents with an animal through there questionnaire. They come with all there shots and are fully fixed potty trained and ready to love you. I love my 2 kitts and have been very blessed to get them..

For emergencies, this is the only place I bring my cats. Recently, my little guy fell out the window. He was in terrible pain, I was terrified. By 7am I was there, being signed in. In 5 minutes my kitty was taken to the back. Stat. It's basically a triage situation. My animal was given a transfusion which saved his life. He was also kept in hospital for 2 nights and 3 days due to the seriousness of his injury. When released, I was given j (3.5 stories!) and instructions for a tech visit 2 weeks later for a red blood cell count. Monkeyshines was very anemic and the Dr wanted to make sure it was only accident related. I would have given 5 stars, but the tech must've been rough. After the red check, he chewed at the needle site. He didn't do that to his leg where the IV (for morphine & fluids) or catheter (transfusion) were.
This is my second trip I've taken to ASPCA @Bergh Memorial with with a life & death emergency & they were flexible about $$, kind, professional, but most importantly, successful!

Relatively clean/maintained. You can't reach anyone when you call the main line though...around and around and around you go in the "voicemail recording tree" and no matter what button you press, the recording suggests yet another call you should make. This should be far easier for people since the ASPCA relies on the kindness of the public for donations, volunteers, etc. I had 30 lbs. of new cat litter that I nearly threw away because I couldn't get anyone on the phone to confirm they would take it and lost my patience trying to get someone on the phone to confirm they were open and would take my donation. I ended up jumping in a cab and taking a chance they'd accept it. 5 stars for the work they do, but 1 star for making it frustrating and difficult in general to obtain any relatively valuable information. I mean, their website doesn't even plainly indicate their hours of operation.

I was told I couldn t get a pet due to me having two young children ! And was told to go to a local shelter when they advertised they were giving cats away for free to a good loving home just to be turned down at the door and honestly in my opinion I felt this place is racist because they gave the Caucasian lady behind me a cat with no issues and she had her two children with her who were not as well behaved as mine

They are very friendly, and have really decent prices for adopting cats/kittens. I really love their approach in making sure that all animals find good homes, and really love the fact that older animals are discounted to make sure that they are loved too. I actually adopted a 10 year old cat going on two years ago from them, and I really love and appreciate her. Senior Animals need love too! Thanks!

The place is nice and clean, I'm not sure if there's a parking lot but it's easy to get to the place my bus with the M15 to 92nd Street and 1st Avenue, the only thing is you must first call for an appointment then you can take your pet to this place, also they have lots of cats and dogs for adoption and believe me adoption is the best alternative give a dog or cat a chance

Showed up half an hour before closing, and apparently the last half hour everyone takes a break and they don't want to adopt out animals. No info on website saying to be there X amount of time before closing to start adoption process.

I want to adopt a young dog and need advice if I should go to aspca or not or where to go, I'm reading other reviews on this and one of them really stuck out to me which seems to be the first one. If I don't go here where do I go?
