I took my Yorkshire Terrier here to have his teeth & mouth examined. They were going to pay for the surgery to have his teeth removed. However, he is considered high risk because of his age. So, I decided not to go through with the surgery.

From where I live to where I have to go as far so I have to take about three trains when you get there is friendly and nice and they treat you very nice and they have so many animals that you want to take all of them I dropped the one and he was very handsome and I named him Christian he is very adorable and they were very good with you and patient so definitely I will going to drop another animal

It is excellent! They are in very good condition, we must adopt never buy! So it is gradually ending with cruelty and abandonment with our animals, we must be aware!

As with all the other foster, rescue and adoption ...

As with all the other foster, rescue and adoption places out there right now there's a significant backlog. It's been very discouraging trying to go through the adoption process. If you're not in a rush you should hold off. I haven't heard back from any of the places I've applied for. It's a black box process right now.

A disgusting organization with overzealous personel that deny good families and shelter pets loving homes . In questioning my familly about the prospect of getting a dog , my 10 year old said he is uncomfortable when he is licked by a dog so... "no dog for you"

Really? My 10 year old hates going to school and doing homework too. How the heck do any animals get adopted at these places .

This place left me heart-broken!! I went here to adopt a kitten. We picked out a kitten we thougnt would be a great addition to our family (we had one other very friendly cat). After waiting about 20 minutes we were told that kitten was already on hold despite no paper work being placed on its kennel to indicate such.
When we asked why it was on hold we were told one of the volunteers wanted to adopt it. We left frustrated having fallen in love with the kitten. We called back and they told us there was no hold placed on the kitten. So clearly when the volunteer saw we were interested he/she decided at that point (not earlier) that they wanted to kitten. So cruel. We will not be adopting from the aspca and I would not recommend you do either after the horrible treatment and experience we had here.

First I want to say that the ASPCA Adoption Center...

First I want to say that the ASPCA Adoption Center New York, NY is the best place to go if you really want to adopt a Cat or Dog. The Establishment is clean and the people who work there are friendly & professional. When I first came across their website I spotted Valentina and I was blown away how beautiful she looked but where she was located was a bit to far to travel where I live by train, so tried another ASPCA Adoption Center is located in Brooklyn a little bit closer to me; the Kitten they had for adoption was also beautiful and her name is Gretchen only 6 months old. 3 days later I've checked to see if Gretchen was still available for Adoption sadly I found out that she was was already put up for adoption, so then I tried with Valentina who is 2 years old and still available for adoption. I was so excited the she was still there; so I left my Studio Apartment by Cab in a rush with out bringing my NYC Driver's License. When I arrived I was asked a few questions and was asked to fill a form that didn't take much time but when i told one of the ASPCA Employee that was helping me with the Adoption process told that I need my NYC Driver License to complete the Adoption Process. I told her that i will return back to pick up Valentina in 2 hours depending on traffic since I taken a Cab.
Almost 2 hours and few minutes later I returned the second time around by Cab to complete the Adoption Process with my Drivers License in hand, Adoption Fee & Medicine that Valentina is to take for her hear (a mild heart problem). After seeing the Veterinarian (Upstairs) who told me everything and more about Valentina i was still happy to adopt without hesitation.
Once I return downstairs to finalize the paperwork, etc a tall dude brought Valentine in a Plastic Carrying Case and other items she may need once she is brought to her new home.
I almost broke down in tears, but I held them back. It's been so many year since I've had a Cat, and Valentina looks just like my first Cat named Snowball. Finally after so much traffic I finally got her home and she first ran right under my bed for a few minutes then started to sniff her way around. I also notice that after going through the bag of personal items for Valentine her Medicine was missing.
I went to Duane Reade to see if i can purchase it their, to no avail I couldn't without the Doctor's prescription. I returned home and my phone was ringing then stopped. The Tall Dude at the Manhattan ASPCA Office by the name of Dale left a message to let me know that Valentine Meds' wasn't placed in her bag and that he can drop them off after he gets off work. This guy went out his way just to do that, and he told me that I've also did the same for Valentine when I came to adopt her by Cab twice in one day.
I'm grateful for their professional service and very happy that I have a little furry friend who's shedding her fur all over my Studio Apartment.:-)
Furthermore I wanted to add about my little furry friend, being that she moved in with me I notice that she does meow wild like other cats, maybe that's a given. She became relaxed in her new home over night and whenever I sit or sleep she does the same.
If you prepared to adopt a cat or dog, I hope you have the same or close the same experience that I have had with, you will feel grateful that you have a new furry friend in your home.

OK. They need better people to tell you more about their animals. Adopted a very feral cat. Not much information was given. I would return him but he's also so loving. I had to break him in. They don't have much small dogs that's what we went in for. The pricing for their animals should be a bit lower. Considering they don't give that much information on them. But it was a very clean facility. Process was fast.

High quality pet adoption center on the upper east side. I adopted two healthy kittens from here the same day I went in. When you go in, you fill out a form about what type of pet you're looking for. Then after fifteen minutes or so, an adoption counselor asks more questions to find pets that better suit what you're looking for. Then they take you to different rooms that have the kind of pet you're looking for. The only thing was, when I did tell them which cats I wanted it took a long time to actually get them, like over an hour and a half To be fair, there were a lot of people waiting there but it seemed very long. Overall though, great experience and the best place to adopt a pet.

It's a crap shoot. You really don't know what you're getting. You can get a sick kitten with worms or other troublesome issues, or a traumatized puppy/kitten that won't stop crying or refuse to conform. You will need to return your animal there for countless vet visits; and the "No parking" situation there is terrible. The Vet visits are terribly expensive too. The staff hates answering questions on the phone and it's really luck if you get a nice kitten/puppy or not.

As A pet lover I care for my 7 yrs. blue nose. However ASPCA an organization that suppose to help animals don't. As every other person that needs to work to provide medical attention to my pet, I wanted to schedule an appt. for this Friday for my dog, I was placed in hold and finally when this very nasty, unprofessional customer service answer the phone, he said can NOT give me an appt. because my dogs condition is an emergency, I didn't know a receptionist has a Vets degree. He said to bring him to the emergency room where most likely I have to wait 5 hrs at least.
Thank you ASPCA for doing NOTHING.

Excellent people doing all they can to save the life of a furry (and sometimes not furry) friend. The facility is large, the animals are well taken care of and the people actually care about what they do. If you want a furry friend please consider adoption, avoid breaders and puppy mills and support organizations like this. The only wayto help fix the out of control population is to stop making it worth it to breaders to churn out animals by the millions.

We adopted a cat by the name Yoshiko. They knew exactly what they were doing. My cat is 2 years old with the perfect look and personality for my family. A week later, I took my cat back to treat a cold the staff was great and the doctor was more then fabulous . She told me that my cat was suffering from: anomia, heart murmur, fever from spay, and dehydration. Not to mention , the cat suffers from separation anxiety. Maybe because she had 2 liters prior and they most of been taken from her. They did tell me about the liters, but didn't say anything about other medical issues. We love the cat so we'll deal with it. Yes, I would adopt again.

There's NO WAY TO CONTACT ASPCA HOSPITAL to schedule an appointment over the phone ! On Monday July 30 2018 I called at 02:15 p.m. to schedule hospital appointment for my cat & it took me around 45 minutes to get through... somehow... I had to keep calling the same phone number about 8 times... over & over again in hope that someone will answer it... ? I had to wait patiently 30 minutes on the phone line... until someone did... actually answered it... to my surprise... (I almost gave up)... and politely did explained me that some days they are very busy and therfore asking public to be patient & just wait on the phone line until someone will find a moment to answer it...
At least I was able to schedule an appointment at the end of a week, it's better than nothing.
I know that they're always very busy, however there's got to be a better & friendlier system for people to be able to contact ASPCA Hospital to schedule an appointment.
ASPCA Please DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT !! We need your help & we need to be able to contact YOU sooner than in one hour !
Update, Starting from October 1 2019 MUST CALL ASPCA to schedule appointment for euthanasia !!! They DON'T accept anymore for euthanasia WITHOUT scheduled appointment over the phone !!!
P.S. Euthanasia is FREE at the ASPCA !!!

Within the last 2 years I lost both my beautoful cats. They passed away within months of one another after being with me since they were 4 weeks old. When Luka passed she was 13 Ani 14. They are so kind and compassionate and so gentle at the Aspca. They took my babies and made sure I was ok before they let me leave. Thank you for the wonderful care you provided for my situation.

My first time at the aspca. I came here because I have a school research paper to wright and it includes me doing field research. I came came to ask questions and get information about my topic (animal welfare) and they turned me to their website. I explained that I needed to speak with someone and their answer didn't change. All I needed was maybe 5 minutes. The woman at the adoption center didn't even bother to see if she could help me before assuming I can find the information I'm looking for online. I'm really disappointed because now I feel like I waisted a trip when I could have gone else where!

ASPCA needs to start focusing more on actual dog rescue...it's embarrassing to see their numbers are around the same as some 100% volunteer run shelters. Oh, and if they claim they're active in other areas then how about starting by spending some of the war chest lobbying the city to ban apartment-based puppy mills in NYC (particularly of Pitt Bulls).

However, the reason I dislike aspca is that they tacitly approve of killing unwanted dogs - go to their website and check advice on what to do if you want to surrender your dog. They'll tell you to go to the NYC AC&C...they don't even bother providing links to no kill shelters. Meanwhile they try to guilt trip us with around midnight commercials of dogs in poor conditions, well guess what ASPCA, being on the death row (or one clerical error away from it, while suffering from a respiratory illness) in a kill shelter is as bad and yet you effectively advocate it.

Just wonder how many people call ASPCA to ask to surrender their dog?! They're a no kill shelter so of course they can't admit all dogs, but how about trying to at least offer alternatives.... I advise anyone to check out AC&C for adoptions over this place anyday...
