Beautiful aquarium you really get to see the animals up close
Always love going here. Love feeding the stingrays. They are precious.
Beautiful aquarium great for kids and families very educational!

I'm so disappointed. It had been a while since I've been here and when we came, it wasn't the same at all. The tanks are nice and large, however, the parakeet exhibit has gone down hill. The netting is in front the plants - basically teasing the birds where they cannot get to them. The feeding stick prices went up to $1.50 from $1, which isn't bad except the food portion is drastically smaller. You used to get a full or half stick of food. You now get a speck of food at the tip of the stick. Literally the speck is about the size of my 2 year Olds thumb. On top of that, they have ads of various paid options plastered throughout the whole aquarium. Where the shark gulf tank is, for example, where they have the circle glass where you can look down and see the sharks, there were 2 other glass walls to view that tank on the 2nd floor. Those 2 glass walls are now covered with an advertisement. Like I said, the place is beautiful, it's clean, friendly staff, but these changes are very disappointing and a let down. Definitely won't be coming back any time soon though.
original review
Huge! Lots to see, fun & educational for the whole family. Prices are pretty high though unless you have a membership than it's free.
Fabulous experience! The kids loved it. We love the value we get with the Audobon Membership.
Not as good as pre-Katrina. Guess it's still rebuilding.
Really fun aquarium and zoo in one, perfect for a rainy day and great for kids - lots of hands on activities and displays for them to enjoy!
Audubon Aquarium of the Americas
Located on the Mississippi River adjacent to the French Quarter Audubon Aquarium of the Americas immerses you in an underwater world. The colors of a Caribbean reef come alive in our walk-through tunnel, while our penguins and Southern sea otter enchant you with their antics. Touch a sting ray, feed a parakeet, and marvel at our gigantic sharks, tarpon, and rays in the 400,000 gallon Gulf of Mexico Exhibit. Watch for sea turtles throughout the Aquarium as coordinator of the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program, we prepare many of them for release to the wild.
Hours
Nice little Aquarium. Visited as an after party for an event I attended. Did not make the best bar, but I would return to see the aquarium.
Mt sister and I had so much fun here! It's been years since either of us have been to an aquarium. My sister even adored the chat and feed session we took part in for the penguins. It was also my first time in a touch pool!
Fun for kids, interesting, educational. Staff very friendly
Once again disappointed by an aquarium in the US. For $ 30 I would expect more. We were easygoing in an hour. Penguin and otter basins are just awful.
Very nice modern aquarium. Without kids 90 mins and done.
Not as impressive as I had hoped. It was overpriced for what I saw.
Great aquarium close to the Riverwalk. Easy to navigate and helpful staff.
Lovely aquarium!!! I loved how the different sections were decked out in themes.
There is a great variety of jelly fish and they have a great set up for each type of environment.
First, the Aquarium has awesome parking lot near by. The walk is not very long. It does cost to park.
Second, the view on the river is beautiful.
Third, the Aquarium is nice. I enjoyed the whole tour. I even enjoyed the 3D show.
We even enjoy eating our lunch while we were there. We had the Burgers. The pizza place looked very good. So many other items they offered.
My son's first time there. He had a great time but we didn't get to pet the stingrays. They need longer hours of operation.
As far as it goes for attractions in the city of New Orleans, the aquarium is pretty much up there if you are a visitor from out of town. It's a great place to bring the kids and have some fun with plenty of photo opportunities with the family.
Very well kept and informational. Could sit in the shark tank area for hours, so relaxing.
Staff are great and very informative but those poor animals look so miserable.
The animals are great! It is a bit pricey so I suggest going online to buy your tickets to save a few bucks per ticket. They now have mermaid showings which is pretty cool! My kids really enjoyed every part of the walk through. It does get a bit crowded on the weekends so pack the smallest stroller you have if you must bring one. It's fun to pet the sting rays and feed the birds. It's a good place to find some air conditioning on a hot Louisiana day. They have recently renovated some areas of the aquarium and it looks really nice and clean. Beware of the parking costs.
Great aquarium with an amazing variety of animals and sea creatures. Perfect location and well layed ou
Our family always enjoy going to the Aquarium, we all have our favorite and love seeing it each time. The kids, and myself I admit, love Parakeet Point and feeding the parakeets is cool! And afterwards playing in the fountains is fun! This place makes for a great, fun, family day!
They had a event for Autism Awereness for families! That was amazing, everyone was very professional and dedicated to make it a very special event for the families. The children loved it specially the scuba divers feeding the sting rays, they loved it!!!
Typical aquarium, but always a thrill to see life you wouldn't get to see or know existed otherwise. I want to play with the sea otters.
It was awesome but I was a little disappointed that I couldn't walk on the fish like I did when I was a kid I miss that feature
Cool aquarium focusing on local fisheries. The Gulf of Mexico exhibit and the Americas exhibits are particularly strong. Some of the signage can be hard to read, particularly in smaller exhibits, and it's sometimes hard to tell which fish are supposed to be in which tank. Lots of good activities for kids.
The food area is very small and chaotic, but the pizza is affordable and tasty. Compared to larger aquariums like the GA or TN aquariums, this feels small, but if you get the combo ticket that includes the insectarium and zoo you'll definitely get your money's worth.
Get a membership for your family and go back again and again to the Audubon sites here. The aquarium is well done, informative, and has diverse info and exhibits.
Great family friendly place. Takes a couple hours to go through. Food court too
Awesome place my children and everyone had a wonderful time
Beautiful place! So many different kinds of fish and sharks. The penguins and the Sea horses were my favorite!
Best aquarium in the South. Definitely recommend visiting. Fresh and saltwater species. The albino gator was pretty cool.
Good place, if you are in, it make you close to nature the filling is excellent.
Got in and out in an hour taking our time. Some exhibits not open due to COVID. Still a lovely aquarium
Had so much fun at the aquarium. Loved the jellyfish!
The best place, the exhibit an assortment of Sea Life. $$
The Aquarium was okay. The overall experience of it was moderately exciting. The tanks in the rainforest exhibit needed to be cleaned because they were too cloudy and you couldn't hardly see the fish. Some of the plant life in their was dry and dying. The pathways through part of the exhibits were too small. The stollers took up a majority of the Walk way. I did enjoy the shark, jellyfish, and seahorse exhibits. The staff was super friendly and answered all questions clearly and with a smile. The gift shop was awesome...I got alot of treasures there. I even liked the photo of me the staff took and overlayed the background! It make take 2-4 hours to get through the whole place. I guess my opinion is sort of bias because I have been to the Aquarium in Chattanooga TN and it was awesome! Upon my return to New Orleans in the future, I might return to their Aquarium!
I had a great time with my family a the Audubon of the Americas in the New Orleans French Quarter. They have lots of natural exhibits ranging from local wildlife to excotic creatures from the Amazon rain forest. If you have time and you are in the French Quarter area with an hour or so to spare this is a good family attraction to visit.
We had so much fun here. A little bit pricey but once you're in you'll be happy you did. So worth every dollar. Eat a meal beforehand and make every possible feeding or hands on demo that you can.
We love this place. you should definitely see the movies especially about the hurricane and the Dinosaur 3D one.
It was an awesome experience! felt like a kid again!
Kind of small and not much to see for the price of admission.
Perfect for young children. Cost is expensive unless you get membership and visit often.
Enjoyed bringing the kids out! Lots to see and enjoy for the entire family.
Lots of cool fish! It also has a few birds, too. It has an overlook of the Mississippi River, too.
Wonderful exhibits, but my experience was ruined by busloads of unaccompanied preschoolers running through and screaming at the top of their lungs. Box office should have disclosed this prior to my paying over 200 dollars for nonrefundable tickets.
Clean place, friendly staff, and lots of healthy happy fish
We take the kids here every few years, the aquarium and the zoo are a good day trip
Always enjoy seeing the fish. Wish they had the rest of the tour open
The prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was amazing. My children enjoyed every minute of being here at this establishment.
Had a problem with room and called to get corrected and they went above and beyond with an upgraded suite. Thanks and makes us feel like VIP's
Cool:) a little confusing. maybe they are doing construction or something. Over all, a very exciting first time. Will be back. And I would like to check out the zoo next time. Thanks Audubon
Its ok....very pricey. I expected more to be honest.
This is a nice aquarium, but it is on the small side. You can probably complete the entire thing in an hour if it wasnt busy. Overall nice though.
We love it. Excellent. Kids (10, 6, 5, and 5) had a great time.
The workers here are extremely rude. One of them yelled at my family and I saying we were exiting out of the wrong door. Will never return and give our hard earned money to such ridiculousness.
A wonderful aquarium. It looks small but looks are deceiving. It keeps going and going, up down and all around. Lots of exhibits with tons of places to view them. Penguins, otters, sharks and tons or fish and sting rays. And many more species. Beautifully dine and it made my day. A very peaceful place and a breath of fresh air in the city. Don't miss it! Zoo tomorrow :)
Fun but pricey. Not as much to do inside as it appears from the outside. Good place to visit with kids.
We visited during spring break in March and it was a great destination! There are so many amazing animals to see and it wasn't packed so we could really enjoy the experience! The stingrays, sea turtles, and sharks were particularly impressive. If you are in New Orleans, you should check it out.
