The experience of the Anne Frank house was everything i expected it to be and more. A must see for anyone interested in humanity
The experience of the Anne Frank house was everything i expected it to be and more. A must see for anyone interested in humanity
A sobering remembrance of history, highly recommended
Difficult to get tickets but if you have the patience you can book it online and just wait for the available slots. Not senior citizen friendly. There are plenty of stairs to climb and descend. Very informative.
An experience unlike any other. It makes you understand how it was like living in the house and the sense of fear and worry the families felt.
Good tour which gave a great insight into her families story. One which I'm sure was common for the time but obviously well documented by her. Was busy inside and delayed walking through which I think killed the vibe a but for people but considering how hard it is to get tickets it was a good to experience it. Bought tickets on the day through website mid afternoon. Keep refreshing!!
A memorial done well and tastefully. It was truly a memorable experience seeing the sad story of Anne Frank and her family come alive during this tour.
It was a fine place but personally not very interesting
Excellent experience. Sad stories that never should be forgotten...
What an incredible experience. Seeing where Anna Frank and her family lived was really remarkable and moving. This is a must-do activity for anyone visiting Amsterdam
Great value for money at 10 pp including an audio guide. Would recommend booking well in advance as tickets sell out very quickly! Very informative and touching.
A well managed museum. You can borrow a small device so you can listen to the stories behind Anne Frank. You go up a lot of stairs and it's really crowded but it's worth it!
Amazing. The tour and information was intense. MAKE SURE YOU GET YOUR TICKETS IN ADVANCE. My girlfriend and I waited outside for about an hour and forty-five minutes (it was absolutely worth it).
Very well organized. My children where speachless in the end. Much more impressive than I expected it to be
Website is a joke and always has an over loaded server, but it s worth it if you can get a ticket. You have to keep checking throughout the day if they are sold out bc they release more as they day progresses.
It s an amazing museum you must visit in your life. There is a lot of things to see, something sorrow something happy. You can see what made her life all about. The view outside of museum is fantastic and beautiful as well. Highly recommend.
The Anne Frank walking tour was very inspiring and emotional.
The rooms are just empty. There are some pictures on the walls how it looked like. I think they should recreate the rooms like they where. Now we were standing in a queue for 2 hours just to see pictures..
This is definitely a must see museum for all ages.
Try to look every day for new tickets opening in the website. Recommended to come not in the rush hours.
A must when you're visiting Amsterdam. However, please do buy tickets online because they do not sell the at the door.
The family introduction was very interesting for both my daughter and me.
Sadly it was impossible to keep the 1,5 m distance inside the Anne Frank House. No one there to keep an eye on the visitors to respect the recommended social distances. Therefore we had to skip some rooms :(
You need to book in advance as they have quota and this place is very popular.
Words are not enough to express the feelings and thoughts you can experience during a visit to the Secret Annex. In spite of all you might already know about the Holocaust and Nazi atrocities, this place will give you a new perspective about this terrible period. Photos are not allowed, and you must buy your ticket online beforehand. Note that tickets will sell out almost immediately after they become available. However, every single day at 9:00 am (local time) they make a new bunch of tickets available. I queued online since 8:40 am and had no trouble securing 4 tickets for the same day afternoon.
Great experience -you have to be very patient to get online tickets
Quite a sad place (due to circumstances), but very educational nevertheless.
Interesting and important experience. Getting tickets might be difficult.
It's a moving and important museum. Be patient with the lines.
Good museum , you d better make online reservation before coming to make sure you will be able to visit
One of the most popular museums in Amsterdam. The hiding place of the Frank family and others during WW II. Moving experience. Anne Frank was a truely gifted writer, and her father Otto was struck by the depth of her writing when he obtained her diary after the war. Reserve tickets well in advance. In case you didn t book tickets in advance: 20% of tickets for the day are sold on-line every morning at 9.
I bought my ticket last minute as I forgot to book it in advance. Make sure to go online at around 8:15am to queue up online, so that by the time the tickets for the day go on sale at 9am you are no longer in the queue .
The museum is very interesting with many real items from the past & photos to show how a room/area was before.
This is one of the places you need to visit before you die
Impressive presentation! I loved how the audio guide set the scene, but then stopped as soon as you step behind the shelves.
The tour is great but the torrential downpours might be best served by putting up a canopy for people to queue and take respite from rain.
Highly recommended! I'm not a big fan of museums, but this is very different. To see the rooms they lived in and how the house had been set up is really amazing. The whole thing is really well managed as well with a free audio guide and smooth entry despite the crowds. Unfortunately when I went some areas were under renovation, but still a must-do while in Amsterdam!
Great to go as a place of interest, but very very busy... And if your headset screws up... Nobody around to assist you.
Rush rush rush through the exhibits...Seems like its all about through the door and not giving people a chance to contemplate why they are there
Moving and sombre laid out well with a good audio commentary probably loses a star when very busy book in advance
I took the intro tour and recommend this as you get a guide explaining a lot to you about the history of everything for a half hour and you can ask any questions. Once in the regular tour part it s all audio based and there is no one to ask questions which was disappointing. Also you can t take photos inside which I saw a lot of people doing and it felt very disrespectful they were also yelling to each other loudly and there was no security to be found to stop them. This kinda ruined the vibe of what you want to experience here which is why I only gave it 4/5 stars.
Very powerful, but be prepared to wait in a huge line. Order your tickets before your trip online to avoid the worst of it.
Very historical place in Amsterdam. You definitely should buy your tickets weeks or even months before: To enable all visitors enough time and space to get Anne Frank's history, there are only a few tickets per timeslot.
Very interesting to walk through the actual house. Sad and inspiring.
Excellent yet a bit upsetting. Up close and personal. You get a great sense of what the Franks and Jews in general went through during WW2.
Buy tickets online in advance for availability and to avoid lines.
Interesting and significant place, that should remind us of the horrors of WW 2. Unfortunately the hiding rooms were completely striped of any furniture, like they were back in the day and you couldn't really feel how they lived there. Otherwise everything else was great
Nice place to visit, but book your tickets atleast a month before
The extra daily tickets system is shameful. It gives away a few tickets for that same day, but after you pay, it changes the date for one months in advance, cheating on your money and expectations.
Well worth a visit. Very moving. You need to book at least 6-8 weeks in advance. Otherwise you'll have to join the online queue before 09:00 each morning and scramble for the remaining 20% of the tickets released daily. We did and fortunately were successful.
No many things to see there actually... They do not possess and display many things of Anne... Dont know why here is so popular ..
Very sobering but also so interesting. Worth a visit
As a family of four we truly enjoyed the museum. It was definately well done and gives you a true sense for Anne's life, I personally was moved to tears. The final video was a number of global celebrities. Whoopi Goldberg spoke on behalf of Americans. I sincerely hope they remove her crass video. I found it embarrassing to our country and in no way reflects upon the spirit of the Frank family.
Located right on the Prinsengracht canal in the city center it is a lovely setting known for its quintessentially Dutch aesthetic.
The Anne Frank Museum is only 500 square feet in total.
It consists of the main house and the annex, which is where Anne Frank went into hiding and wrote her famous, beloved diary during World War II.
Extremely moving. A tribute to the best in the human spirit and a reminder of its worst excesses.
Plan to be moved. The emotions are real when visiting the hideaway apartment . I would recommend an evening visit . The area is very populated with tourists that effect the mood. It is a place of remembrance and should be treated as such
Buy your tickets online and early ....very though provoking
They've done a lot of work here recently. The renovations look great and makes for a great tour.
Powerful. Inspiring. Depressing. Fascinating. Thought provoking. A must visit. The museum and (free) audio tour are very well curated. Allows one to begin to understand and feel the history, hope, fear, and ugliness that was experienced by Anne and her family, and all Jews during WWII.
I am in awe of the preservation of the diaries. Thankful they have been shared with the public. The story of one out of so many. Well organized museum.
A very moving experience. We only had to que for 30 minutes to get in. Well laid out and highly respectful tour.
Very well kept and a great tour in many ways, I found it rather busy and a lot of waiting in line which is to be expected with so many people wanting to visit so worth remembering... But a humbling expirence
Except I didnt go in it!! This place is booked months in advance and when I went to go get tickets that were released that day, I was in the que to pay (as I was #908 guest and went all the way down to under 200 and then said there were tickets) so I went to pay for my ticket and it dropped me out of the cue and wouldnt let me buy the ticket, even though it showed to me I was eligible to buy it!!! Frustrating, but I still gave 5 stars, bc come on its Anne Frank!!
Wow. Definitely a must if you are visiting Amsterdam.
My only advice for you people is Pre - Book the tickets via online well in advance.. Amazing experience..
Read the diary, watched the movie and glad we visited the place. Historical and educational. Must visit.
Very well organised. Must be booked in advance online . There are some very steep stairs. Heartbreaking exhibition but must be seen and remembered
This is the worst thing ever; only for the simple fact that you can only get tickets online and the descriptions of each tour is very vague. There is no way to actually speak to a person for more information if you need it.
If you have read her diary, it would be an excellent addition. So that you can visually understand the magnitude of what she has gone through. If you haven't, by visiting the place it's a good way to start reading them. It should be on the top places to visit while in Amsterdam.
This exhibit is really well put together. The tour is completed by an audio guide which can be provided in multiple languages.
Please note, you can only buy tickets online which are released months in advance. Fear not, if like us you didn't realise this, they release the final 20% online each day at 9am.
Tickets for this museum is really hard to get so take into consideration to purchase it in advance. Otherwise you will have to take online queue at 9 am and wish for luck. (p.s. tickets are sold only online)
The museum itself is fantastic. You walk through all those rooms that Anne described in her diary and simultaneously get various info from history. I was really fascinated and this museum is highly recommended.
What an experience. As a middle school teacher I cried throughout much of tour. Make sure to book your tickets early if you plan on coming to town. I saw countless people turned away who had not done their research and didn't know 80% of tickets are sold online up to two months in advance.
Don t tell anyone that you have been to Amsterdam if you have not been here.
Moved by the stories and facts presented in a very authentic manner.
A great experience, but book in advance as queues are massive.
One of the many places to see in this great city. This one is a must if you know anything about history but beware that there are usually lines to get in.
Took a group of 26 students from Canada to the Anne Frank House and completed their 2 hour tour focusing on the background of Anne's story. The educator we had was AMAZING. She did a wonderful job using the time line in the classroom to parallel Anne's story to the story of the way. It was really helpful to give the war a context and a face and our students really appreciated learning more about both. Was beyond impressed with the educational experience, and the walk through the house (this part unguided) was, of course, moving. Highly recommend to visit in general, but definitly recommend the workshop for any student groups.
The museum offer the opportunity to visit the real house of Anna Frank, it is suggested to buy tickets online or to be there very early in the morning because there is always a very long queue starting from 9 o'clock in the morning.
