Friendly staff enthusiastic about fitness! Very helpful in fitting shoes, making sure I had the right support. The experienced staff offered advice for my races to avoid blisters. Tiffany has excellent customer service skills. She is very knowledgeable about footware. Tiffany did a thorough job of measuring my feet and taking care of my footware needs. She took the time to answer all of my questions and clearly explained how each set of sneakers that she had showed me would satisfy my specific needs...as recommended by my doctor. I highly recommend this store.
Came to dialogue with Up and Running about a pair of $120 Nikes I had bought a little less than 2 months ago whose left sole was coming apart near the toe. She pointed out (and probably rightly so given that I brought in said shoes with the left shoe untied but the right shoe tied) that I was probably (at least in part) using the my left shoe to assist in taking off my still laced right shoe- all the more probable given a recent right knee surgery. Still, for $120, you'd like it to hold up a little better than it was. That being said, Holly was great about it and replaced the Nikes with another brand that I considered previously at no cost. Even when I offered to pay a pro-rated amount, she insisted that if we are calling the Nikes defective, then they are defective and I shouldn't have to pay anything. Kudos to you guys for leaning on the side of the customer, leaning into generosity. Its greatly appreciated and I will definitely be back for my next pair of shoes. -Jason
Very nice store with a variety of athletic wear options. I bought shoes. They measured my foot and studied my walking gait to recommend options. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are what you expect for an orthopedic shoe.
Very helpful employees, they were kind and patient with my daughter to find a great shoe for her issues. Spent over a month waiting for the right size that was "definitely coming in soon" after taking home a pair that were a bit too snug. Lost our earned "reward $'s" (aka we spent a lot there already) and the people working have no power to help. Really disappointing experience
Definitely the best place in Dayton for buying your running shoes. They also have a great selection of both running apparel and casual clothes, nutrition and other running accessories.
I just purchased our families ninth pair of shoes at Up and Running in Kettering. It is always a very pleasant experience being greeted by people that care that I came in to look for running shoes. They always treat me like an important distance runner and take such care and concern in getting the proper fwith the proper shoe.
The staff was kind and knowledgeable. My husband and I both bought shoes that are comfy. I am bringing other family members in next week. These shoes cost a little more than the shoes at the chain retailers but there is a big difference in comfort.
Really kind of blown away by the level of service for the price - I would definitely recommend you stop in here if you're on the market.
Never really been a runner before, so I'm essentially a total newbie. Ran a little last year but it really hurt my knees. Some friends suggested I get a proper shoe fitting, and a little research led me to this establishment. Went in today and was helped out by an employee named Tiffany. I was pretty iffy about the whole process - having somebody else get all up in your feet can be kind of weird, etc. But she walked me through the process, gave me a lot of tips, and had me try on several pairs of shoes. Really useful to have somebody who knows what to look for, etc., to help make that decision.
I expected to pay a lot more than internet prices for the shoes and the fitting service. I paid the same exact price at this store that Zappos is charging for them, so that's a huge surprise. Will absolutely return here for my future needs.
Heard about this place from a friend and tried it out for new running shoes. After being fitted I now have the perfect running shoes and my knees thank you! Very knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Just went in for the first time to get a new pair of shoes and was instantly greeted and asked what I was looking for. An associate brought me over to the shoes and began their fitting process to test my arches, both sitting and standing to get the best fitting shoe for me. It was clear the staff was knowledgeable on the subject matter and as a veteran runner it was refreshing to talk to someone who could fit me with the riget shoe. She brought me out 3 pairs of shoes, after asking my usual mileage and pace of running, so that I could get a good feel of all the options for my neutral arch and longer distance training. I never felt pressured into buying and felt more confident with my choice leaving that I would have doing it alone. Glad I could support local business over a large chain as well.
I attempted to return a pair of unused shoes and was told that they could not be returned. I could not even exchange them. The customer service was horrible. I have never had this type of problem with them before, but I it will never happen again. I don't spend money where I am not welcome.
Fantastic store for runners or people who want high quality athletic gear and buy from locally owned shops. The staff is helpful and will listen to your needs for shoes and help with any issues. They will guide you to certain shoes for issues like overpronation or how your foot strikes the pavement, type of running etc to give you the best fit and function. Highly recommend. They also are very pleasant to work with and this holiday season even gift wrapped my purchase as they had the time.
Best place to buy running shoes, especially for new runners. They take the time to properly fit you and make sure you leave happy. Worth the extra cost over online or chain stores.
After getting my first pair of running shoes from somewhere else with horrible results, I decided to try Up and Running from the reviews of others in my same position. They were amazing. Dan immediately greeted me at the door and since he was still in training he brought Heather over to help while he watched. I love that they make sure their associates are trained to measure everyone correctly instead of a hour crash course. Heather took care of me exactly like I thought the last place should have done. She measured my feet, sitting and standing, watched me walk, and got me the perfect running shoes. Instead of being over pronating with wide feet, Heather informed me I had narrow feet with normal pronation. Completely different shoes and they feel amazing! I will definitely be back for my next pair and will recommend Up and Running to EVERY runner I meet. Thank you Heather and Up and Running!
They fitted my feet! I tried on maybe 8 different shoes and they found the perfect pair. They measure your foot then watch you run to determine different things (eg. I over pronate when I run, whatever that means). They know what they are doing here. And their prices for shoes seem comparable to big chain stores.
As someone with flat feet, buying sports footwear can be tricky. I am very happy to say Up and Running has been the best experience I've ever had buying something tailored to me. Highly recommended!
Awesome experience! I got fitted for a pair of Hoka Clifton 6, after being offered a more lively pair and the original Hoka, like a queen of clouds. I appreciate how the recommendations were something you might like, not driven by price or the latest and greatest fad. I just can't wait to run and defy gravity in this gift of shoes. From talking with the expert helping me out, I felt validated and motivated to run. It was a gray day, but as soon as I got home, I put on my new socks and shoes and got out there. Keeping each other going and sharing the journey is what it's all about. Thank you for all you do for the community, UpandRunning!
If you live in Dayton Area or Troy may I strongly recommend Up and Running in Dayton. It doesn't matter if you are fast like an Olympian or an old lady walker, you will always have company. They have Walk groups if you want or you can go it alone. They have maps for whatever miles you want to run or walk. You will make new friends and meet old ones. The store is fantastic, GO there to BUY your shoes, they fit you right. You want your feet to be happy, and you want the best fit. Let them fit you. For the women, especially the breasty ones, they have great bras etc. There are some things you should never skimp on, shoes, socks and bras. Thank you for all you do for the community!!!
Up and Running is the best!! They work very hard to make sure the shoes you buy are well fit and comfortable. The staff is knowledgeable and makes you feel special. I'm so happy they're in my community!
My experience at Up and Running was fantastic. I have been searching for a good walking shoe for the last 3 or 4 years. I've gotten Striders a few times online sometimes they've worked and sometimes not. They can't be counted on. The woman who helped me to find the perfect shoe for my needs had a lot of expertise and it's the first time I've ever talked to anyone in a shoe store or even at the orthopedic office that had her knowledge. I'll be going back here for all of my shoes in the future.
Excellent customer service and products. Staff really care about the individual and proper equipment. They measure you thoroughly, starting w/the bare foot.
The staff is super helpful and informative. Thats why this second part sucks to write.
However, I went in to return a pair of shoes and the owner accused me of just using them and started she will remember to never sell me a pair of Nikes. It was honestly one of the worst displays of customer service I've ever experienced which was really disappointing given how helpful othet workers were.
Was greeted by very helpful, knowledgeable and friendly staff. Wasn't pressured into anything and was fit with the best shoes for me that happen to be on clearance! :) I will definitely be going back!
I was referred to Susie at UP & Running Centerville by my primary care doctor. Susie helped find the fit I needed. Shoes were ordered. I have now walked some miles in them. They are great! Thank you Susie.
Super helpful staff. Very welcoming. They found me perfectly fitting running shoes in under 10 minutes, and I have weird feet. I intend to be a regular customer!
Great service, employees are very knowledgeable and helpful. They actually want to get you into a shoe that is best for you. Their community events are great also
Night & Day... that s what I kept saying when I walked around in the shoes! I have PTTD (posterior tibial tendon dysfunction m) and my Ortho doc recommended Uand Running for arch supports. The woman, Joan, was VERY helpful! She was very informative, measured my foot, found some comfy shoes that got me out of that boot! Thank you!!!!!!
wonderful small business. friendly and knowledgeable staff. always willing to spend the time you need and even gave me a discount i didnt knew i had recieved. i buy all my running shoes here and refer people here whenever i can.
This is a great place to buy running shoes. The staff is knowledgeable about all of their shoes and can recommend a shoe that fits best for your specific foot issues.
Staff was very helpful. They allow you to try out the shoes by walking outside or running. Very patient staff and friendly. I love both pairs of shoes I got from there.
