Very intense and somber reminder of how history can repeat itself if we are not careful.
The visit will take you through the story of Anne Frank. If you have read the book of Anne Frank do not miss it.
Very insightful and educational experience, make sure you book online before going. Queues get very big as it's a popular museum.
A must visit in Amsterdam! Be prepared for big crowds though and book your tickets early. The exhibition is well done and informative.
Sad and poignient. Difficult to see and yet a must see.
Not the right words to maybe say totally brilliant, but it brought home the stark truth of the Second World War. We booked on the internet and arrived for our allocated time.
Used the audio tour to take us around.
It meanders you through the building providing audio input along the way. There are little elements I had not realised but leave them for you to find out.
My daughter who was of a similar age was in tears at the end saying this was the best museum ever.
Really enjoyed the tour and learning of the horrible history.
Brings emotions out and a good display with appropriate amount of info
A cool audio driven experience but is lacking the original furniture of the house.
went and hadnt booked before so could go round but staff wasn't very helpful on how to book and where to go.
Very modern museum. Buy tickets in advance because this place is very well visited.
Gives you an idea of what she and her other hidden folks went through...
It was good experience by knowing the actual sight of scene, how it was against Jews. House is one time visit. I got late for the tour so I could not watch the tour so be on time.
Amazing place full of history. Lovely. Tourist just remember to book atleast 2 months ahead to avoid disappointment. You can only book tickets online.
Disappointed that I didn't read up before we went. Should have booked online as we were only there for a couple of days.
A must visit while in AMS. Buy tickets well in advance..
Tickets only available on line, also a very large queue that did not move for a very long time, then they only let three people in.
Great place to visit in Amsterdam. Brings the book to life and gives you an experience you can't get anywhere else. The line is consistently long and takes about an 45-60 minutes to get through then another 45-60 minutes in the house. Close to canal tours as well.
The place that honors the greatest hide and seek player of all time
The tour through the building is properly set up to respect the seriousness of the subject. The number of people allowed to enter at a time is restricted so that it does not get too crowded. The audio tour is good. Currently you can only purchase tickets online ahead of your visit. I was disappointed to see people disrespect the `no photos` rule.
The Anne Frank House is an amazing place to be in. It is just fascinating to see the very house that they all lived in for two years. But, what amazed me the most is Anne Frank's diary. When I saw it, I almost cried, very touching. I definitely recommend that museum to anybody who loves Anne Frank and wants to learn more about her.
The first thing about Anne Frank's house is you need to book a slot well in advance. We were there just 15 minutes before our time slot and we entered at our time so we did not lose time standing in long Queue. There are very slim chances you can get on the spot tickets.
Reading "Anne Frank's Diary" as a teenager, this visit was like going back into time. We were provided an audio guide (self-explanatory) which guided us to the secret annexes behind a bookshelf. This annex was a part of a warehouse. Anne hid there with her family from the Nazis for more than 2 years during World War II.
A few parts of the original diary Anne wrote when she was hiding there with her family is on display in the museum. It took us about an hour to complete the entire tour. Photography is not allowed inside the building. Everything is well organized and few artifacts that the inhabitants used during hiding is displayed.
Dreary and boring. Empty rooms with photos on the wall. A minimum of actual items to see. Could have learnt the same in 5 minutes on the internet. 10 I could have spent better elsewhere. And there are FAR TOO MANY people at the same time, it was over-full.
I'm sure it's awesome. Apparently you need to know months in advance that you're going to buy tickets.
Important to go. Good price that includes free audioguide and very well preserved. Tip: book your tickets in advanced or you ll have to buy them same day at 9:00am and they sell out in less than a minute (at least in December).
Lines too long. No roofing against the rain and cold.
Very solemn place, make sure to get your tickets in advance as they sell 80% months in advance and only release 20% at 9am the day of.
It was quite busy, however the management was good and so we got through the museum without having to wait long. The museum itself is great and very informative. Would recommend.
An amazing trip. 100% must do if your in Amsterdam. What a fantastic experience.
Worth a trip, visiting here should be compulsory lest we forget how following a lunatic can turn out!
Very somber and educational.Again plan ahead get tickets at least 4 to 5 days ahead online
Full of emotions. In the heart of Amsterdam. Tickets online only you need to buy it at least one month before. It's Always overbooked. 20% of tickets online are open the same day from 9am but it would be better to buy before as hundreds of people will be online trying to get one. Anne Frank House is one of the highest must see in Amsterdam
Depressing...but something everyone should do and see.
First time in Amsterdam? I recommend seeing museum. It's one of my favorite places in Amsterdam because I love history. I read Anne Frank's diary in 7th grade and imagined myself walking through the secret door behind the bookcase. I was able do that here!!!
We arrived 1 hour before opening on a Wednesday morning in June and got in about 45 minutes after it opened.
Touching story as you would expect. Nicely presented but as it is such a popular location you really feel like you are herded through the museum.
Well organised - sensitive & informative. Gabrielle's introduction was very detailed & greatly enhanced our visit.
Amazing and very emotional experience. A museum with a story to tell!
Not that impressed perhaps I needed to read the diary first. I didn't get any meaningful thoughts or atmosphere from the hidden rooms.
Don't listen to the people telling you it's not worth the long wait. It's worth it. Grab a coffee and some snacks and an umbrella - absolutely worth the wait.
Anne Frank house according to me it's the most popular tourist attraction in Amsterdam.....make sure to do reservation in advance ....the reservation can only be done online........a lot of memories of Anne Frank are present there.....a lot of parts of the house are kept as it is coz her father Otto Frank wanted people to experience the same things as they did.....make sure to take the audio tour
Amazing place - Visit, learn and never forget no matter what is your religion.
The museum is inspiring and makes you appreciate living in a free and privileged world today. The story, the diary, the uncertainty of life, the fear, the positive thinking, the inspiration, the Hope are all discovered in this small museum. Highly recommend booking online.
You get to walk around the unfurnished house. There is an audio guide but it doesn't give much depth so would recommend reading the book before going.
Amazing to visit the house that I read about in my youth through Anne's diary. Very meaningful.
Place has been modernized beyond recognition, very busy and very long lines to get in, would not recommend.
Being at this place, seeing the rooms and reading the documents; it is really so surreal and although you can never understand or comprehend what happened to this family it is incredibly emotional and moving. This museum is for everyone; people who have read the diary and those to haven't. It gives contextual information about the war as well so people from all over the world who may not know about the impacts of WWII and/or children would also be able to appreciate the museum. There are free audio guides which are necessary for the real experience in my opinion. For anyone debating whether or not this museum is worth it I would highly recommend it, it was informative and more interesting than your typical European art museum.
I recommend you book the half hour lecture before entering the museum. It gives you more background information regarding the political situation in the Netherlands before the war.
Due to the style if staircases in Amsterdam, this is not an easy visit for people with mobility issues. The stairs are narrow and steep.
Each section of the museum is well presented and thought out before and after visiting the Secret Annex.
Do get your ticket online before coming to this musuem as the queue is very long.
Recommend everyone who goes to Amsterdam should visit here.
A beautiful tribute to Anne Frank and everyone who hid with her and helped. Very moving experience. Free audio tour which was a great aid.
There was a lot of writing on the walls and pieces taken from Anne's Diary which made it quite personal. The only thing I was not aware of was that it wasn't a guided tour, you walk around at your own pace and the tour times aren't very strict as we got there 30 minutes early and were just let in. If you don't have tickets, go on to their website at 9am on the morning and they have 20% of their tickets available
Emotional and interesting expetience. Good idea to book ahead.
Great education on the tragedy of war on a jewish family
Huge sense of place and experience. Really impactful. Main exhibits are pages from the diary but audio tour is in included in museum entry.
Looked interesting from there outside.. but having to book dates well in advance stops ad hoc visits
Great place, great story, steep stairs and audio guided. The video and audio aspects do not have subtitles so if you are deaf I suggest calling ahead about help.
My favorite experience ever! So much history to embrace and explore the past! Staff was very knowledgable. We took the group tour where we had an introductory class first and that made the expierence 100 times more enjoyable!
Really enjoyed this tour. Getting tkts though a nightmare. Book online when you book holiday, save the stress
Has become very commercialised since I went 20 years ago. Has changed a lot in that respect.
Amazing museum, definitely worth the looong line. Try to get tickets online if you're thinking of going! It'll save you like 2 hours of your life.
Very interesting and sad at the same time. It is worth to get the experience
Great experience, make sure to get your tickets early!
We only could go for a photo as we were so disappointed the tickets we bought on line were not for Anne Frank but for another company that we were redirected toward. We thought we had the tickets, went to the house/ gallery only to be told it was not the correct ticket for admission. Do not book with Viator or Trip Advisor. They were mIsleading and were not in the location we went to! No one to answer questions and no help! In the end we only could stand outside of this historic spot! So disappointed . All the way from Canada and we waited to see this thinking we had tickets
Very Interesting and worthwhile visit! Will definitely come back again!!
One of the best museums that I have ever been to. Audio guide is very impressive, makes you live the exact atmosphere
This was fantastic. It is a small.space, but has tons of information and is an engaging experience. I would say it's a must-do for Amsterdam. Try and go early in the day to avoid the busyness.
Really amazing experience. Ensure to book far in advance and booking occurs online only (online bookings open up two months in advance and they fill very fast). We booked the program with the 30 minute historical introduction which includes the museum entrance after the introduction. The staff member who gave the introduction was extremely knowledgeable. If you miss out on the advance bookings, part of the tickets are released on the morning of any particular day. The 30 minute introduction and ticket program bookings open up 2 weeks in advance and is a great way to circumvent the advance bookings if you miss out.
A very well-done tribute to Anne Frank and to the others lost in WW2
Good museum, it was good to see a place where the fault in our Stars was filmed. Puts you in a very somber mood. Very different than normal places because everyone has an audio tour that they hold around and that gives you all the it info from the things. It just walks you through Anne Frank's life and how she went into hiding and then getting found.
A must for everyone to see and learn about.
A bit disappointed that they haven't retained the original facade of the building.
From outside like a modern museum and you can enter only after buying online cards. We were not happy.
A historical place to visit. A lot of people are coming to visit that place, so you shall buy your tickets online and you better come very early that day to avoid wasting time waiting in the queue.
