Amazing and informative experience. Really appreciated that it came with a free audio guide.

So moving and sad to be in their house, and feel their experience! !
We read that the Anne Frank Museum was too Touristy , not so.
We found it to be very moving. I read the Anne Frank book as a teenager and remembered a lot of her story. To actually be in the spaces The Frank s and 4 others had to hide out within, to walk the creaky floors, to climb the STEEP stairs, all in the same silence they lived in for 2 years with all kinds of nationalities almost .... made us one. We all understood although eyes rarely met, and heads were down. We were all reverent as to what we were experiencing together, a life one would hope, especially for our children s sake we may never endure.
Anne s actual journal and other artifacts were present in the museum. I did not know Mr. Frank and others survived to honor the lives of loved ones they lost. I understand, far better the desperate measures some will take and endure to have freedom. May we never forget or take for granted the good lives and freedom we are blessed with.
An important part of human history! Definitely read the book before you go inside. It s very touching to be inside. I took mine book with me :)
ALL HER WOULD-HAVES ARE OUR OPPORTUNITIES
Feelings and sadness around a history of the humanity. A terrible and sad history. Neccesary for understanding how dangerous is the progress and presence of the neofascism. Pls go to this house.
A fascinating yet sombre exhibition. The experience is extremely moving. Seeing the annex in its preserved state, you pick up on the energy of the fear and terror that ensued. Thoroughly educational and serves as a bleak reminder to the depths of darkness that humanity can stoop to.
Very informative and brings back the harsh reality of mankind
Too long lines, despite the fact that tickets have to be purchased in advance over the Anne Frank Houses website. We never made it inside. The surroundings are beautiful though, and there are some restaurants close by.
Good that her father preserved it. Otherwise it would have been so difficult to comprehend that such atrocities did happen. Unbelievable ! Such a shame
To be honest I believe most of the reviews are in honor of what happened here. However a review should be of the place you're reviewing which mine will be and this attraction is lacking. It has become a sideshow for money and can have impatient workers.
very interesting place to visit. quite sad really considering the nature.
very big queues though. even if you have tickets.
when busy it can be quite difficult because of the stop start and the stairs are quite thin and steep. also no toilets when you walk round so go to the toilet beforehand
Such a moving museum about the story of Anne Frank and her family who went into hiding during the second world war. A must-see if you are ever in Amsterdam!!
Currently under renovations to expand so you have to book tickets online.
There are no words to fully express the sadness I felt walking past the book case to the hidden narrow stairs leading to the Annex. Three days later I can still hear Anne's father talking about his daughter's death on a vide. He did everything humanly possible to save is family. In the end he was the only one to survive, His pain was visceral. I have always wondered what Ann endured during her final days in captivity. Another video from a survivor explained it all. Her words will forever be seared in my memory.
Anne Frank Huis gave me an enthralling experience and a plunge into history.
Very organised and well maintained structure.
People at the security and the guides help a lot.
Really well thought out, organised round numbers of tourists so it's not a bunfight, the audio guide is great for kids too. Great cafe too.
I encourage everyone to visit. Touring the house and listening to what Anne Frank went through had my mind spinning as I not only could see, but feel the sadness and the bravery. Thousands of individuals from various backgrounds/ religions have faced similar circumstances and many still are.
Detailed audio tour. Well organized and respectful.
Amazing place to feel and learn a little bit of what happened with thousands and millions of people in the Second World War.
For me, the most important thing to do in Amsterdam. Unforgettable.
Mostly informational, but there is something to be said about seeing the diary and the spaces they hid in. Book well in advance.
The exhibition was a mostly a somber experience - you learn about the Frank family's ordeal by moving through the house and listening to the audio guide.
The rooms are small, however, and very packed when we went through and I can safely assume this is the case around the year. I would recommend not bringing any bags or luggage with you to the house.
The only gripes I have with the museum is the last part, where some random celebrities weighed in on their experience. Most of them didn't feel very personal, and in the case of Whoopi Goldberg incoherent. This part is not only unnecessary, but in my opinion tarnishes the exhibits.
Pretty amazing to see the place in real life once you read the book. Crazy to think that people were hiding in that average looking house for years...
Fantastic museum, a must see. Book your in advance though!
Came here to see one of the popular tourist attractions. Purchased tickets beforehand so that saved a bit of time. The actual house was pretty big and everything was laid out nicely. Everyone walked in a line going through the house, but you can move ahead faster than other people if you wanted to. They make you wear backpacks in the front to make walking easier for everyone else. Bathrooms available downstairs. Overall, it was worth it to visit.
Everyone should do this.
Please don't take pictures posing with the Anne Frank house sign.
Get your tickets in advance and be prepared to be moved to tears. A must see, can't miss.
Found it to be an nice tour. Bring your own headphones. It's best book online before hand.
Very interesting and emotional, especially if you have read the book. It was difficult to get the tickets. You need to order them online two months in advance.
If you like the history behind Anne, you will love this. Its a must go and see. Book your tickets ahead of time as they are usually sold out on the day of.
Book ahead of time or you may not get in! There is a lottery every day if you didn t book ahead but it wasn t easy to get in. It s worth it!!!! Very commercialized but you walk through the book case and really get a feel for the space they lived in. We finished late in the dark and it was a terrible terrible downpour. They just kicked us out into the rain to wait for a cab. It was freezing and we could see the employees still inside the whole time we waited with no umbrellas and everyone was hunched together like penguins! It was awful!
Very interesting and sombering experience, imagery and stories. Cheaper than many museums (but far less content) at only 9. Worst part was we arrived before opening and still had to wait for 3 hours! Buy your tickets online in advance!
Intriguing and eye opening experience not to be missed, highly recommend this place for tourism!
A very moving pace to visit. A self guided tour that takes you through her eyes as you move throughout the house. Be sure to buy tickets in advance as it does get quite busy.
one hour of tour perfectly explained with the help of the audio guide. Emotional experience. Must visit!
There always is an amazing and wonderful story behind
Stunning and humbling, no one could visit and not be moved by the story of Ann and her family
Despite the strict reservation times, the entire experience was way too full. The line of people going through the experience was disorganized and it took 10+ minutes to move from room to room.
You have to reserve before online, you cannot go directly like that. You always have some tickets left the day before at 9am (check online the opening hour) and it's a story of "who would be faster". Incredible place with precise explanations on the free audio guide. Lot of emotions, thank you
A must - see in Amsterdam. Get tickets online several weeks in advance
We had a fantastic experience at the museum; the outside queue had umbrellas to avoid the weather, the whole museum was both touching and informative, the audioguides were also a great addition and the cafe at the end fantastic.
The place gives you chills. The horrors of Holocaust start haunting you.
"One day we are laughing at the comical side of life in hiding and the next day (and there are many such days) we're frightened, and the fear, tension and despair can be read on our faces." - Anne Frank
26 May 1944
It was nice. Well organized. I missed information from Peter. Do not recommend it without reading the book. Don't forget to buy the tickets in advance and arrive on time. The space is very small, like a house. They need to control the visiting.
The queue is long. And on a rainy cold Oct day one must b prepared to keep themselves warm and have some snack and drink in hand. If u carry a book, or your journal to write then u are the smart while all around u r painfully waiting their turn to get on. The house alone tells u the story of Anne Frank and her family. The ugliness of hate and war.....
This museum is incredible. Its very thorough and the history collected in connection with what happened is extensive and presented for easy viewing. The audio tour is available in multiple languages. The house is preserved extraordinarily. Felt a bit cheap having a gift shop attached at the end but that's my personal taste (still bought a postcard, however)
Having seen many Holocaust movies and of course all the Anne Frank movies out there, my husband and I were utterly disappointed from this museum experience. I understand that Otto Frank didn't want to keep any of the furniture, especially because the Nazis confiscated it, but the rooms are practically bare and except for the sink in the kitchen and toilet in the bathroom, there was nothing to see. I do think they should have put replicas of the furniture or at least some pictures from the numerous movies depicting the lives of the 8 Jews in the attic.
The only thing we could see in the rooms were repetitive portrait pictures of the people who lived there and mostly pictures of Anne. There were short explanations underneath each of them and the exact same text was repeated on the audio devices we were given at the entrance. We weren't allowed to take any pictures either (not that there was anything left to take pictures of)... Not to mention the fact that it was way too crowded and we could hardly breathe inside.
I just feel like they could have done so much more to show the world what life looked like for those poor Holocaust victims, but what they did instead was just to take our money under the false pretense that it's "definitely the Netherland's number 1 attraction".
A remarkable story of bravery & survival not to forget
It was an emotional and powerful experience. I recommend to buy a ticket in advance, so you skip the longest lines and get an exact time.
Its an odd feeling giving a 5 star rating given the subject matter. However it is an experience and a small view into the horrors that the jewish people and others during the war.
Amazing! Very informative! A real lesson in history!
Wow, what an amazing experience. This museum is well planned out and very respectful of the families who lived there. Pre-reserving is highly recommended, but slots fill way in advance. We weren't able to reserve ahead of time, but got in quickly because we went on a rainy day - not many people wanted to stand in line in the rain... We had our own umbrellas, but noticed that they were lending them out as well.
Well organized tour of the historic house, audio guides are included and are well done. I would suggest buying advance tickets on line. Only prebought tickets are allowed in before 1530, then general admission after, which when we returned later in the day to the neighborhood was snaking around the block.
Very fun and educational! Great history and story within the house.
Too many people, totally kills the vibe. Also, really was expecting to see the actual apartment with furniture, books and clothes, though there were just photos and empty hiding place.
Wasn't able to get tickets to go inside. Outside is somewhat interesting.
You need to visite this place. We need to remember this part of history
It was a sad but eye opening experience that I consider to be invaluable to anyone.
Anne Frank House is truly amazing I have visited Amsterdam many times and this has always been something I've wanted to do, truly interesting and mesmerising. I had an introductory program which was great and I'm glad we went for the full experience, this IS a must do!
It was so moving, being in this historical home. The experience is breath taking.
You can only buy the tickets online and reserve the tickets before one month.
Moving experience, presentation in advance was well worth it. Staff could have done more to enforce social distancing, people were left to do this themselves in all sections
Very interesting and informative. Make sure to book online in advance to avoid the massive queue
Fantastic place but make sure you book two months a head to get in
A must see when you're in Amsterdam. Try to get tickets online ahead of time so you don't have to wait in a 1 1/2 + line.
However, we waited in line and it was worth the wait!
If you're there and need water, don't buy from one of the shops, fill it up at the water station closer to the entrance of the museum.
Very emotional journey, can't imagine surviving the entire family and living without them after enduring how they lived the last 3 years of their lives prior to being captured. This tour is not handicapped friendly, there are very steep stairs and can be challenging under the best of conditions.
An eye opening experience. Truly an inspirational young girl and a legend. Thankyou to you all at The Anne Frank House for sharing this with us
Was a bit of a let down as couldn't just go in and pay, have to book online
The worst museum that I've seen. It's obscene how they exploit the poor girl life.
Wasn t sure what to expect here. Found the amount of information on display incredible. It doesn t matter how much you read into Anne Frank s story, you will never get the same feel as you do actually in her house. The museum it is today is full of information and pictures and seeing the building and the history attached to it is incredible. Real eye opening experience. Would recommend the visit to any open minded individual with a thirst for historical knowledge.
This is good walking tour which had contained anne for 2 years during world war
So much crowded, be prepared for more than an hour queue
