The burgers are okay they could be better than me is thin hamburger meat that's you got to have like a double to make it a single really cold hard fries like they was heated

The water was excellent. Although that's all we had as our waitress disappeared.

Our first time going to this establishment of Kansas City. Found this recommendation on the KC Parent Guide listed as "Top 25 ways to say I love you". I am so glad we went!! Fun atmosphere and the food puts it over the top!!! Delicious and prepared perfectly. When you go you have to get the Skyscraper!!

The food was good, but the two of the waiters keep ignoring me, cuz of my race of course

Discovered this place for breakfast during a winter storm in K.C. Was so good we went back the next day. Dolores is a wonderful waitress.

Good service but the food is not what it used to be. The burger patties now are as thin as a dime and over cooked. Definitely not the price point I would pay for a burger of that quality.

Service by Melissa was great, burger was tasty, onion rings crisp and the tater tots were . . . tender?? They were fantastic and the chocolate frosty was delicious! Wish I lived closer! PEACE

1940s restaurant with all it's charm and great food!

Good burgers that are NOT greasy, thus better health-wise. Tater tots are yummy. Malts, shakes, etc., are great. Service is fantastic. Cozy, welcoming, everybody-friendly. Great place for one person to dine and be comfortable.

Winstead's has managed to keep it's old timey look and feel, but the prices aren't old timey. It's high priced fast food. The best thing about it is the 24 hour drive-thru.

When I first pulled up to the drive thru I noticed how disgusting the place looked. After having to repeat my order multiple times to the person and her getting frustrated at me when I was looking over the menu (this was my first time coming here, and last) I pulled forward quickly noticing that there was ketchup splattered all around and on the drive thru window which is completely unacceptable. I waited for my food while i watched an employee play on her cellphone until they finally decided to hand me my food. Quickly I noticed that I had multiple items missing from my order. So I mentioned it to the lady, she proceeded to tell me that she would have to reorder and charge me for the items that SHE was clearly at fault for. I repeated my order to her multiple times and the fact that she still couldn't understand it means lack of training. Not to mention how extremely overpriced it was. I paid for one meal what I would normally pay for 2 meals at a similar food place. Here is the best part, not only was my order messed up and overpriced BUT when I was finally calm enough to try and enjoy my food I pulled my burger out of the sack And instantly noticed the extremely long hair sticking out of the wrapping on my burger. I paid so much for the food and will never know what it tasted like. Wouldn't recommend to ANYBODY.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The atmosphere is wonderful, everyone is always so friendly, and the onion rings?? literally the best

One of Kansas City's iconic long running businesses, sporting a 50's diner feel and a burger-centered menu, it's hard to go wrong. With a few locations in the metro, this particular Winstead's is located just between the Country Club Plaza and the Nelson-Atkins Museum. A perfect lunch or dinner spot for cheap. I definitely recommend coming hungry and checking out their desserts after a Triple Cheeseburger with "Everything", and a 50-50 (fries and onion rings). Great for all ages and for groups, especially if you're looking to conquer their Skyscraper shake.

Lunch last week was delicious as usual plus it was happy hour on shakes and sodas.

This is a classic diner with the atmosphere to go with it. Good simple food served fast and by friendly people. Well worth a visit.

For a good, old fashioned steakburger, you can't beat Winstead's. Get all the extras on your burger and a 50/50 (onion rings / French fries). It's a classic all the way around.

Kansas City classic institution. This place has been around forever and they have remained consistent. It used to kind o a car hop, turned into a diner, now it just kind of looks like a Denny's. The restaurant is very big and spacious, lots of booths. The service is nice and friendly, and the food comes out quickly enough. The menu is fairly limited, and the quality is that of fast food. The frosties are the best thing that they have, burgers, fries and tots all just mediocre.

Haven't been to the Original Winstead's in over 20 years. Still tastes like it did then and the Special Frosty is just as delicious and thick!

Great ambiance and wonderful service. Burgers were good, standard steak burgers and they definitely fulfilled expectations. We will be back for sure. Order the apple dumpling a la mode; you won't be disappointed.

Everyone needs a good hamburger and shake place! Winstead has basic burgers... nothing over-fancy about them. Delicious onion rings and full fries (not the thin, floppy ones). Cherry limeade served with a touch of lime sherbet make a nice touch to a quick and satisfying meal.

Always a delicious cheeseburger and tater tots. Super yummy!

My favorite place. The atmosphere is wonderful. It's a bit noisy with all the people sometimes. Otherwise, I think you'll love it!

I do not usually write reviews, but I stopped here today and had to take the time to do this. Absolutely phenomenal service and food! I came by myself with old worn out clothes & carhardt coat thinking I would be pretty much ignored. Complete opposite! I got seated quickly with coffee instant! Waitress that waited on me refilled my cup twice and got hotsauce for my request fast! With everyone there she kept up with me with no mistakes! I never have been so well taken care of with genuine warmth like that ever. Just a no name scrawny guy that came for a quick meal and got treated like a king! I tipped good and will return again when i'm going that way again. Thank you for the excellent food that I couldn't get enough of but mostly for the staff & waitress treating me the way you did. Thank you thank you thank you

Cool, old school diner feel. The menu is a la cart, but you won't spend an arm and a leg at this plaza place! Their spin on cherry limeade is 10/10... I could hardly put the drink down.

Burger and chicken salad was good chicken strips and onion rings were hard.. and fries were bland

Fairly quick service, tasty food and yummy beverages, all available in a convenient location!

One of the few late night options if you don't drive, but very expensive for what you get.

The burger was good, although they put a few many onion slices on them for my tastes. My waoter Parker was very friendly and was never more than a cpuple of minutes away if i needed something.

Haven't been here in a long time, still has good burgers don't know what's up with everything ala cart but guess that's what works.

My husband came up here on a busy Monday night to get me some food, just for the person who took my order to not only mess up my order, but the cashier NICOLE cussed at my husband when he tried to tell her the correct order. I got my refund and most definitely will not be getting any food from this place. I d rather starve than to have someone with such disrespect handle any of my food.

This is the place to go when it's midnight and you've got the munchies, or between 3-6pm for a half price cherry limeade. It's cheap with a cute diner atmosphere.

I love you guys, but your building needs major rehab. I don't want to see you disappear, you've been a lifelong favorite of so many. Please update/repair/fix your building so customers don't go elsewhere.

Not sure what happened. Burger was completely dry with no flavor. All I could taste was the giant onion slice. On top of that completely forgot my side order of tots. Been here before and everything was fine. Disappointed.

The lady that took my order was fairly nice. Nothing stood out. I love the way the inside of the building looks. I ordered a burger with tomato (costs extra) and didn't get a tomato on my burger. Ordered pickles and got 1 pickle...
Not a terrible place but not the best place I've ever been either. Average above all else.
