Everything is seriously over priced. A large shake is over $6 and it's in a cup usually considered medium size at most other FF places. Even worse, for a dollar more you could get the skyscraper, which is now smaller than it use to be when my husband and I were dating back in the 80's. Speaking of small; a hamburger at this place is small enough to hide in an average person's hand, and you have to pay extra for typical sandwich accessories like lettuce and tomatoes. I honestly do not understand Winstead's continued popularity.

Service was good but Burger was not as good as the standard Fast Food place. Onion Rings average at best but Brownie Sundae was Heavenly. Definitely overpriced. Would choose Sonic for quality and price any day of the week.

While the burger was sort of dry, the vegetables were very fresh. The banana malt I had was good, they do use syrups for their flavoring and not real fruit. The tater tots were fried to perfection.

Very small portions, precooked and not only that but OVERCOOKED!!! Hardly anything to choose from, and VERY OVERPRICED! They obviously try to make it seem affordable by individual pricing. No combo offers of any sort.

A Kansas City landmark for 80 years. Great service, excellent root beer floats. Burgers taste like meat not something that's been frozen forever. Oh!! Tasty tots too :-) Not to mention the iconic architecture.

Good olde' classic greasy hamburger. Its food but wasnt anything too outstanding. The drive through messed up my order and forgot a hot fudge Sunday. When I did get it, I was pretty disappointed. Just 3 small scoops of ice cream with the fudge on the bottom and a little bit of whip cream on top...

This place has been around since 1940 and has become a staple in the K.C. resteraunt scene. Its menu is straight forward and very affordable.Imagine you are at a diner like your parents or grandparents used to meet up at after high school let out to have a shake and you will have Winsteads. The food is your run of border diner grub however it's the nostalgic feel you will go back for.
On a scale of 1 to 10 I give it a 7.5 or 8.
It's very clean, outstanding waitresses and great overall service.Well worth a visit if you are in the plaza area and want to keep it simple, yet fun.

About Winstead's Diner

Winstead's Diner is a traditional burger and fountain shop that has been serving customers since 1943. The diner is known for its delicious steakburgers made from fresh-ground, high-quality lean beef with no additives. In addition to their famous burgers, Winstead's also offers the best shakes and malts in town.

At Winstead's Diner, quality is of utmost importance. The restaurant uses only the freshest ingredients to ensure that every meal served is of the highest quality. The beef used in their steakburgers is sourced from local farms and ground fresh daily on-site. This ensures that each burger patty is juicy, flavorful, and free from any additives or preservatives.

The menu at Winstead's Diner features a variety of classic American dishes such as hot dogs, fries, onion rings, and milkshakes. However, it's their steakburgers that have earned them a loyal following over the years. Each burger comes with all the fixings you would expect - lettuce, tomato, pickles - but it's the perfectly cooked patty that steals the show.

One thing that sets Winstead's apart from other diners is their commitment to customer service. From the moment you walk through the door until you leave satisfied after your meal; you'll be treated like family by friendly staff who are always happy to help.

In addition to dine-in service at their various locations across town; Winstead’s also offers takeout options for those on-the-go or looking for a quick bite during lunchtime rush hour traffic.

If you're looking for an authentic American dining experience with great food and excellent service; look no further than Winstead’s Diner!
