Love the Happy Hour! Chocolate Strawberry Shake is my favorite

I have gone to this restaurant since I was in highschool. That was 1956. They still have the same menu great hamburgers and a special chocolate frosty.

Burgers have gone down hill badly, was cold and frankly awful. I know times are tough but this place was reliably good, not anymore!

Pretty good food overall, but the burger was very, very overcooked and tough. Sides were the highlight of the meal, and the cherry limeade during happy hour was a very good price.

It's pretty decent, definitely too expensive. Who charges for every single condiment, lettuce, cheese, tomato, all of those things that are synonymous with a burger I have to pay for?

Always stop here when in town. Burgers unique with thin meat patty. Great onion rings and shakes. Like the service.

Winstead's is a KC classic. It hasn't changed since it's inception... and it shouldn't. But maybe they could offer some specials to bring in the crowd that wants to save a few pennies...

I have no idea why this diarrhea-filled s%$thole is rated so high, other than nostalgia for what was once a good restaurant. Quicktrip makes better food, and has better service.

Overpriced and small. The burgers here are expensive and the Patty is thin and pathetic. However their shakes are pretty good

I love the food. It is especially convenient because it is open 24 hours a day. I work nights so being able to get a hot meal breakfast even after a long nights work is awesome.

Great experience. Customer service is outstanding. The cheese salad is excellent.

I'll always have a nostalgic draw to this place; used to love it as a kid. Haven't been in more than a decade tho. My recent visit was everything it should be...the burgers were tasty (just the way I remembered) , the bill was cheap, and the place hadn't changed a bit.

Food is usually pretty good here. My boyfriend got food poisoning from a burger he ate though. I'll only come back for a sundae from now on

Very good burger ... gotta get the double. Shakes are also worth getting ... I like the tots when I get my " fix " for fries

One of a handful of places I make a point to visit every time I'm in Kansas City. Simple and delicious burgers - still my favorite burger in KC or anywhere after 30+ years. The place has barely changed since the 40s and still has an awesome (and free) jukebox.

The service was best part my server was very attentive. The bacon/tater tots were crispy just like I like it. The burger is average in taste.

Thinking about Steak N Shake? Go to Winstead's instead! Winstead's is awesome! Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the area. Service is excellent; so professional, no mistakes here! Thanks for putting Classy service and quality back into affordable dining.

Good and cheap food... Like really really cheap. They open 24hours. And all the servers i have encountered are nice and friendly. I have been there 4 times with my wife and will definitely go again and again

It's a very busy restaurant. Standing room at times before being seated. Friendly staff.

Burgers pretty good. Tots really good. Fries good. Onion rings a little crunchy. Hot fudge sundae was wonderful.

Feels like the center of Plaza on Friday nights. Always fun when it is full!

What can I say. It's Winstead's. A Kansas City staple and time honored eatery. On my last visit, they had an unexpected rush of business from a Memorial day celebration and the staff handled it like champs!

The original home of the Steakburger. Nostalgic but not kitchy. If you are looking to add a few pounds to your frame, order a skyscraper.

Great place diner-style food. We always go there after viewing the Plaza Lights and enjoying a Skyscraper Soda!

Pretty good experience, the food is priced accordingly to the quality. Its also open very late!

Winstead's is awesome! Don't come here expecting a gourmet burger, nor one that is leagues better than any other fast food restaurant, but their shakes are AMAZING. Their butterscotch shake is my personal favorite and a flavor that is hard to find anywhere else.

My favorite place to come after a 3 hour drive into town.

They have some of the best burgers in town. Despite always being busy, service is always fast and friendly. The dining area is clean and well maintained. The aisles are a bit narrow, but not to the point where it isn't navigable. The price is easy on the wallet. And it is conveniently located right on the edge of the Country Club Plaza.

The butterscotch ice cream soda was delicious & it was such a cool, retro atmosphere! My son loved it!

Love the food but our family tradition is their famous malts! You wont find any better shakes or malts!

I love Winstead's! They taste like a real family diner/restaurant except with a drive thru.
They are not as fast as McDonald's but their hamburgers are 100% beef. Their fries are thick-cut and delicious. I recently tried their onion rings, I absolutely hate onion rings but these were delicious!!!! Finely cut onion inside a thick crust fries to perfection. I understand the wait and the prices, they are worth it for the quality.
