The worst customer support experience in my life.

The worst customer support experience in my life.
I did give them a chance, tried to call a few times, spoke with different people and always the same level of response. As understand they can't afford to have professionals working with them.
I used to pay on phone I give them my credit number. They asking stupid questions to pay my bill. I want to give them account number which it on bill but they asking me what s your ss number and what is your ID card number? I spoke with customer representatives name Danielle something. He is so rude. Anytime I call them they all rude. This is last time with Metropluse anyway.

This is by far THE worst insurance I have ever experienced in my life. Their mental health department is beyond words horrible. And ALL the doctors and therapist they recommend DO NOT EXHIST. Their phone numbers are ALL disconnected and their addresses are never real. OR they will recommend doctors THAT DO NOT ACCEPT METROPLUS. I am so sick of it. Do not use this insurance. Their are no pros, ONLY cons. And the mental health department again is horrific and will trigger your issues EVEN more so don t even bother. They need to do better.

I'm thoroughly convinced that the few couple of okay reviews here amongst the sea of negative reviews are people who work for Metroplus Health Plan or people they hired. How is this company allowed to practice and provide health insurance? My wife has a major health issue and noone falls into their coverage anywhere in NYC. She has payed so much on her basic visits to the doctor on top of the 400 a month she pays for this plan. Awful awful awful.

Metro plus offers a very good service, but the service I received while choosing this plan was honestly exceptional .I was helped by Rumi Chhetri. She helped me to enroll me and my friends in this plan. She is responsive and is always available to help. Anytime I call her she helps me out patiently if I have any confusion regarding the plan. She is very cooperative and understanding. I highly recommend her, she is awesome.

Thank you so much Rumi and Metro Plus !

Metro plus gold is the worse insurance you can have. I recently had surgery on my ankle and they denied my request for more physical therapy appointments claiming it is not medically necessary. HOW CAN IT NOT BE NECESSARY TO HAVE PHYSICAL THERAPY WHEN YOU ARE SUFFERING PAIN AND ATROPY AFTER SURGERY!!! Physical therapy is the first thing you need after surgery but Metro plus does not care that slogan "you're number one with us" is complete garbage. Tamika is the best customer service rep they have she has been the only one to provide help to me. Hopefully my appeal for physical therapy is approved though I do not understand why it would be denied in the first place after surgery delaying my ability to go to physical therapy for two weeks now.

Metroplus Health Plan Inc was one of the best health insurance out here, but since Beacon took over Metroplus became a disaster, a lot of health provider, dentist, psychiatrist etc,do not want to deal with Beacon, in my case I have to switch to a different plan because I have to take care of my health & also because my psychiatrist doesn't accept Beacon, "Metroplus" SAD

STAY AWAY

STAY AWAY

Return business is an extremely important aspect and this one lost mine after 6 months. And because of these reviews, probably, hopefully, more.

Remember, health insurance is a business. They want to make money from you. If there is a way to hide a cost, it will be done.

They could have continued receiving my business but chose not to because of a misunderstanding. My address was incorrect so I didn't receive invoices. Since I didn't receive invoices, I couldn't pay my online bill (the only way is with a current invoice number since they don't have a login system). Two months go by and I don't pay...They drop me. After following up with the company, I offered right then and there that I would pay and get up to date. Nope. They thought they were being slick as my Dr's appointment was during a time in which my insurance was "retroactively void" since I was two months behind. Plus, according to Metro plus and the Dr, mole inspection (I asked for a dermatologist referral since I'm super white with moles....if that's not "preventative care" what is?), did not consider mole inspection to be "preventative care" and charged me for this service (taken away from my deductible in which I pay for out of pocket). This was part of my yearly check up btw. This is insane. "Hey Doc, does this mole look funny to you? Oh it does!? Damn, I'm glad I asked!" Btw, that'll a separate service. That's crazy town.

I haven't had insurance for 5 years...returning to it has been a terrible experience. My wallet and income hurts the most. Raising a family is difficult and an extra $350 a month can mean an opportunity to move to a bigger place...or bankruptcy through medical costs.

Health Insurance is a mess and this company is ruthlessly taking advantage a terrible situation.

They have the best customer service. I needed an urgent issue taken care of and I thought I needed a PCP change in order to get an appointment near work during work hours to be able to see a doctor that day. The rule is if you have to change the PCP after the 15th, it doesn't take affect until the 1st of the following month. I hung up and was frustrated and concerned. A customer service rep call me back immediately and explained that there are other options and helped me find an urgent health clinic that would be able to serve me today. I've had Aetna, Oxford and many other health insurance plans and MetroPlus has stood out for having fantastic customer service and actually caring about its members, rather than just seeing them as a number.

Get ready to hear a lot of jazzy hold music. Then, give a call-back number. When the automated system calls you back, get ready to be put on hold again. When you're done holding, enjoy speaking with people who transfer you to more jazzy hold music. Repeat. Finally, be prepared to speak with a customer service representative devoid of compassion and spelling skills who reads the textbook of rules as to why your insurance will be unable to help you. I've never had insurance this bad before.

Every month I run into the same situation with them. They refuse to pay for a prescription that I have been on for years, without doctor s re-authorization, even though the doctor wrote a 12 month refill. Now I would understand if this was a controlled substance or something that can be prone to abuse but it is not. I would check into other companies if I were you unless you like spending an hour plus each month on the phone with them about the same thing. Deplorable experience with them.

I am a representative in the Metroplus customer se...

I am a representative in the Metroplus customer services dept. I understand the many concerns brought up in this review. I often get the feedback directly from members calling in on a daily basis. Here's a little feedback from the inside. Firstly I know waiting time can be the WORST start to any experience whether doctor office, phone company, insurance etc. The member base for this plan has grown to half a million and now the staff too has grown to satisfy the needs of the extra flow of members and providers a lot faster.Wait time has gotten much better including a new service that CALLS BACK automatically if the queue is filled with callers. So you won't be kept waiting.
Claims regardless how enormous are paid. Many times the issues that cause AUTH's to be held up are administrative issues from the offices and the time frames they are sent to the plan. We do have a time frame to manage your needs which is held to highest integrity by the NYS to ensure your care is priority. Unfortunately due to those laws too we are unable to proceed without all pertinent information i.e. medical records, doctors notes etc. So it looks bad for us however this is a common challenge around the board for all insurances. These are concerns we're all working on as an insurance field. Now there are some representatives that don't do the best job of representing this plan. There is no excuse for this as we are the face of your experience with Metroplus. We really do intend on doing a much better job in handling your concerns cares and needs in a respectable time. Please continue to share your reviews as it serves as navigation for us to better our plan for your needs. Thank you all for your feedback.

Metroplus has been wonderful to work with in every aspect. The representative I spoke with was organized and personable, despite being (I'm sure) extremely busy! I'm definitely a savvy guy, but when it comes to this whole insurance thing I'm in the dark. I would definitely recommend Metroplus for anyone looking for health insurance in New York!

I work at a Social Center for the elderly and Metro Plus is the worst! We stay on hold for almost an hour just to get a run around about certain clients and then when they cant come to our center anymore due to the insurance not paying, they STILL DONT TAKE CARE OF US OUR OUR CLIENTS. We actually encourage them to switch their insurance thats how bad it is

Terrible provider with inadequate service. It has taken three phone calls to update my address in their system. They incorrectly told a doctor that I was not covered for my annual visit, and I had to pay out of pocket when it should have been covered under my plan. They also sent me a card with the wrong plan, and then sent a new card six months later (permy request) to my old address. They have no real processes and cannot get their act together internally. For the almost $500 a month I pay, it's completely not worth it.

Don't sign up with this plan. I signed up through the market place with their platinum coverage with vision and dental and I have had non-stop issues with this company. To start, they didn't even send me my card or Id number until the end of the first month of my coverage that I paid for, and after countless calls and complaints nothing was done to return the money I paid for the benefits I was not able to use. Even though the marketplace website claims I am covered for full vision they won't cover contact lenses or fittings because my prescription is not "medically necessary." The dentist I was assigned was utterly inept and downright sketch. I couldn't even find the first PCP they assigned me and the one I have now I'm fairly unimpressed by too. Can't wait to cancel my plan in November. It's completely useless, especially for the high premium I am paying. So frustrated...

Boy oh boy...Metroplus is the WORST!!!! I should have never ever have change from United Health Care. I applied for me, my 25 year old daughter and my 17 year old daughter in February 2018.
We all was approved and we all went to our doctor once in the same month. In the beging of this month May 2018 i started to receive calls from them to re-enroll to keep the insurance (why so soon?). So i did... i have HBP and went to the pharmacy to get a refill on my meds and was told my insurance is inactive (REALLY?) So i have been on the phone with all different represinitives and departments since then...every person i spoke with said different things (How?? When all information is in the computer system). I also paid my premium of $32.56 for the month of May and $32.56 for June.(because they told me the reason it was inactive was due to non payment and in order to be active again i have to pay for both months) now i received a letter on friday 5/25/2018 tell8ng me to pay my premium for June (how? Already did that).
I can go on about how messy they are..TAKE MY ADVICE DO NOT PICK THIS PLAN. .I REPEAT DO NOT PICK THIS PLAN.
Im switching back to UHC..never had a problem with UHC. The reason i switch was a new doctor i took my daughter to to see about her asthma and he convinced me Metroplus was better. Now i believe it was all a SCAM SCAM SCAM. i wont even take my daughter bact to that doc again.
Ohh and one more thing. They stopped my 17 year old insurance because they said she works..and she dont..they had my job paystubs under her as if she was the Adult applying SMH... 0000 STARS FOR YOU

I tried several times to get someone on the phone to ask about my coverage but they were always backed and even though I left my number I did not get a call back. The website is terrible to navigate. The online payment system is horribly clunky and if you don't have your paper bill you will not be able to get your invoice online and will not be able to pay your invoice online. It feels like being back when businesses first started using the internet. I wish I could give them 0 stars.

Very disappointing. I was assigned a primary care physician who couldn't see me and told me to call back in two weeks. I was then assigned a doctor who wasn't a general practitioner, but a cardiologist, who ordered heart tests for me that I didn't need. Also, it was very difficult getting a straight answer from customer service representatives when I asked questions about coverage. On average, whenever I called, I was transferred at least 3 times, and the wait time was between 20 and 40 minutes. (My plan was a "silver" plan through the New York Health Exchange.)

-10 stars, avoid by any menace.

-10 stars, avoid by any menace.

My wife's insurance is not working 10 days after it was supposed to start. We haven't received a card but we've been given a member ID and told to feel free to go and see a doctor, still it is not working (checking eligibility with her ID fails). Not to mention that we payed insurance almost a month ago.

Call center is useless, they have set of 10 sentences they repeat and that's it. "You are not in the system, you are not in the system", "It must be because she's a new member" like it really makes a difference and my favorite "Office is closed now, they will give you a call or you can call them"...

I feel sorry I didn't see it 9 months ago when I received new card without asking for one. Guy on the call center was honest "Sorry, we are new. There was an issue in the system so all members got new cards by mistake." Really??? :(

Imagine what would happen when something serious comes up. I'll switch us to another insurance as soon as possible!

Terrible. OK for going to the ER, terrible otherw...

Terrible. OK for going to the ER, terrible otherwise. I signed up with the rollout of the ObamaCare exchange. I did a gold level package, thinking it'd provide better than minimal coverage. This sham costs me ~$300 a month for all of 2014, now it's going to $330 for 2015.

I broke my clavicle in a bike accident in late 2014. I went to the Emergency Room without a hiccup from Metroplus, so bravo for that. Everything after that has gone poorly. I'm seeing an orthopedist that only sees people with my insurance once a week, so it's always mobbed at his office. This is after calling up several places that do usually take metro plus, but don't take metroplus exchange, as one secretary told me, because they don't pay enough. I see this orthopedist too infrequently for it to be beneficial. Every appointment is spaced out by a month, when I should be seeing him every two weeks.
Now he's recomended an MRI. What a disgrace this process has been. First I had to go to my primary care doctor for a referral. In other words, the orthopedist couldn't issue it to me. I went to get it, annoying, but acceptable. Now only about a week later, they have "cancelled" me referral. I called up metroplus to find out why, they don't know. They can see I had the referral, and that it's been canceled, but they don't know why. They've transferred me to a company called "Med soultions" to inquire. I've been on hold there for an hour, part of which I've used to write this review. I suppose I'll have to go back to my primary care doctor again, to get another referral, then rush to the MRI place. Did I mention I'm paying $300 a month for this?

Like others have said, I had some insurance card shennanigans going on when I first joined. It took a little more than a month of paying for the insurance to get the first "blank" card. To get a primary care physician, their name has to be on the card. So requesting a new card with their name printed on it, so they can accept it, also was time consuming, and took another two weeks or so. So it was basically 2 months of paying for it before I could actually use it to do anything.

Lastly, the website is terrible. I'm always so frustrated using it trying to find a doctor that I end up calling them up. Their hold times aren't so bad, as others have mentioned. It's just annoying I can't do it myself on the website.

My review would have at least been 3 stars for the service provided last year.
However this year is another story.
I had chosen MetroPlus as my healthcare provider which as a silver level plan included dental & vision. I had no invoice to pay last year because I was using a tax credit.
This year I did not qualify for a tax credit for my coverage and had to pay a hefty amount out of pocket.
The invoice experience was horrible.
I had made a payment and they said they were unable to provide me with an invoice showing I paid!
I asked why and they said because it was a credit card (they were even wrong about that- it was my bank card & funds had been taken out of my checking account not a credit card & even if it was credit should I get penalized for that?)
GOOD THING I PRINTED A COPY OUT FOR MYSELF AFTER I PAID ON METRO PLUS WEBSITE.
THIS WAS THE ONLY THING THAT SAVED ME FROM THEIR POOR RECORD KEEPING WHEN AN ISSUE CAME UP!
LUCKILY I had a PRINTED CONFIRMATION RECEIPT( which provided proof of payment with Invoice Number, Approval Number & the Amount I Paid via "Metroplus" website).
HOW CAN THIS COMPANY NOT BE WILLING TO PROVIDE ME WITH AN ADDITIONAL COPY OF AN INVOICE WHEN I NEEDED IT?!?!?!
PLEASE SAVE ALL YOUR PAID INVOICES/BANK STATEMENTS BECAUSE IF SOMETHING SHOULD COME UP THEY WILL NOT HELP YOU!
I saved myself THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS thanks to MY record keeping BUT NO THANKS TO THEM.
Worst experience in all my years of dealing with health care providers.
Will be reporting THIS UNECCESSARY INCIDENT for their lack of professionalism/poor record keeping/unwillingness to perform a simple task such as provide a copy of invoice that payment was made when requested.
>=(
Still cant fathom that this was such a headache to deal with & placed on hold all day/passed to mean dismissive supervisors.
I just got a big fat "no we cant provide you with proof of payment". Huge Disappointment!
Side note: They took the money but don't depend on them to provide you with black & white proof of that!

Beside the bills they don't pay on time for emergency (6 months later after a collector is already approaching me) the dental department has literally stopped working with all the dentist in my zip code suddenly and still giving names of doctors they don't work with!!! I had an appointment with a dentist today after verifying twice with them that they do work with this dentist as this was an emergency. I got to the dentist who sent me home because they do NOT work with metroplus anymore !!!! I had to get off of work for this appointment and of course no one give a freaking fly! Now, I'm waiting on line for over 20 mins just to get someone to help me. Thanks metroplus for being the worst health insurance in the world !

Metro Plus kept denied me more hours with the home health aide services. They claim my condition is not a medical one when my doctor clearly say it is. I have cerebral palsy and I'm mentally ill and I had surgeries. I am disable I'm paralyze on my right side I can't use it well. I have it since I was nine months old. The Metroplus doctor wants more more info about me to increase the hours and when finally gotten more info my hours remain the same. I got 21 hours per week my home health aide can choose however they want to spend that 21 hours. I do the CDPAP. A family or friend can take care of you through Medicaid and get paid for it. I had them investigated by the Attorney General office they claim my M11Q was fill out by a substitute Doctor not my primary care they shouldn't have accepted it. I wish I knew about all these reviews some of it is right many people doesn't want anything to do with them. Some health home care agencies don't want anything to do with them they said they have known to give less hours to their clients. I wonder if a person who is in a wheelchair or in a bed get the same hours as me? They worse than me. If so then Metroplus really ripping people off. Other than that I have no problem they phone calls to customer services it sucks.

Horrible customer service. If I could rate it minus million, I would.
I was trying to activate (after the approval from NY state of health) my daughter's insurance (CHIP) and nobody's was willing to help. I paid premium in advance and somehow got cancelation from ny state of health saying that I didn't pay my premium on time. I spoke with many customer service representatives (Mary, Danai, Troy, Chris, Dmitri, David) trying to explain, they don't listen and were blaiming each other, disconnecting phone calls and kicking me back and forth saying different things (wait 24 hours, then 48 hours, then 72 hours...). Funny thing they all could see that I made the payment on time. So please if you have other options just avoid this insurer.

Can I give a place zero stars? This company is a pyramid of thieves and liars. You think you're paying for services and coverage that don't actually exist. The customer service managers are literally never available. I once had a service rep put me on hold three times to look for a manager and came back the last time saying "I've been to every office in the building and can't find anyone." It took four calls, two filed complaints, and lots of other threats to receive my ID cards and welcome packet due to a "glitch in the system;" and then when I requested to be refunded for the time period where I was unable to use the coverage, they said they would cancel my plan at "no penalty to me," like they themselves knew that NO coverage was better than coverage with them. With the exception of one individual, Alex, who eventually got me my information though had no power to do anything else, all of the people I dealt with at Metroplus were unhelpful and unconcerned that I'm a mom of two toddlers needing insurance information to take them to the doctor. Compared to other plans in the NY State of Health Marketplace, Metroplus's price is right. But trust me when I say, you get get what you pay for? Except for the level of service Metroplus offers, you're still overpaying.

I think the staff are very polite, and want to do a good job. However, there must be a flaw in the system. There was a constant flow of miss information in terms of policies and guide lines. It took me hours on hold, and two weeks to have vital procedures approved. Labs who performed services complained also about the wait time on hold. The danger of this is the provider gets a bad reputation, forcing, doctors to not accept this insurance. It feels uncomfortable when an insurance provider plays "Russian Roulette" with your life.
However, the verdict is still out. The first few months have not made a good impression on myself and my health care providers. Maybe it gets better

You get what you pay for. You'll lose in time what you save in the premium: endless waits on the phone, providers who drop the plan, low-quality doctors and clinics operating out of terrible facilities. I recently called the doctor assigned as my primary care physician and was told there is a four month wait to get in to see her. Don't expect to actually be able to use this health plan if you get it.

They really need to get it together. They messed up my billing more than once and gave me the hardest time when I was trying to claim my annual gym reimbursement. I called them at least a dozen times and even went down to their office myself. Also, good luck calling them. The wait is obscene and sometimes they have transferred me to 3 different departments in one call.

Did not cancel my plan for 4 month while I called them more than 10 times during this time period explaining that my plan is still not cancel. Finally I received bills for 700-800 dollars for all of these months. Finally, after calling dozens of times, someone figured out that something in their system went wrong and plan did not get canceled by a mistake. Wow
But even after this other problems occur: NYC Fire Dep sent me a wrong bill and metroplus admitted that the bill is wrong. Unfortunately, they do not help me at all in this situation and tell to call myself to the fire dep.

I wish I could leave negative 5 stars. My enrollment started August 1st in metro Plus and it is now November and I have yet to receive my insurance card despite over 10 phone calls and calls to the ny health exchange still no luck. I've had to cancel doctors appointments and pay for my medications out of pocket. What is the point of having health insurance if you have no access to it.

Incompetent. I could go on for hours but let's just say their system is whacked, they never update anything, and I've been waiting on my card for almost 2 months now and have been having problems when I go to the pharmacy and the doctor as it says "coverage terminated"

What the hell do I pay for??? Nothing at this point.

Do not go with this program if you have a choice.

I used to find this company, at least, tolerable. But customer service is now completely automated. It took me over an hour to figure out how to pay my bill over the phone when I couldn't find the physical bill! What a nightmare. But hey, I'm sure you have plenty of business men and investors turning a nice profit due to the customer service cut. As soon as I can switch companies, I'm out! What a joke!

I'm sorry to see all the negative reviews - I've had extremely good luck with Metroplus - a knee surgery, physical therapy, and I was treated by top doctors and specialists at top NYC hospitals.

My dissatisfaction is from going with Metroplus bc they were the only one with dental at the time, but all the dentists that accept it get had very poor ratings, or no literally no ratings last time I checked maybe six months ago. Also, the price increase I wasn't happy about, but still very happy with the company.

A lot of complaints come from ppl not having knowledge on the type of insurance they have before signing up. I am a firm believer in doing your research before signing up with anything. Check your doctor to see if he/she takes the plans ,if not are you willing to see another doctor. Many ppl are signing up on plans because they don't want to have to worry about being penalized and not knowing what the plan cover. Also asses how often do you go to the doctor and what is the reason you usually go. Are you there for just an annual physical are you the type of person that is prone to getting sick or having accidents. Do you have a precondition? what is the deductible. how does the deductible work? Is there an out of pocket max on my plan. Does the coverage cover my prescription, and if not how can I have it covered or is there a generic form of it? Don't just sign up for insurance without having the basic knowledge first.

I am a city employee and had switched to Metroplus Gold about 2 years ago from GHI. Since then I had a surgery at NYU Langone Hospital in Manhattan and was admitted there twice for treatment prior to and post surgery. I had a very positive experience and was treated with proper attention and respect. Over the course of two years I had also visited other specialists at private practices and had a very pleasant experience es well, except for one where the doctor rushed and seemed disinterested and aloof. But I switched that dr. right away. Hence, my only complaint is that the pool of good doctors and urgent care centers that take Metroplus Gold is somewhat limited. When you need a specialist in a specific field it takes some time to find a good, experienced and caring doctor who takes this plan and who is conveniently located. I had to switch OBGYN at first because the doctor who I have been seeing for years prior to that was not in network. But luckily, I found another very nice doctor who was part of NYU Langone system and takes this insurance. I, thankfully, never had to use this insurance for any long term treatment, such as physical therapy, dialysis, cancer maintenance and such and do not know how far this insurance stretches when it comes to costly and long term medical care, but for standard medical needs, hospital stays, routine surgeries and treatments it works just fine, no different than a fancy fancy schmancy Blue Cross Blue Shield, just requires a bit more legwork in finding a good doctor.

Customer service is absolutely terrible! They are arrogant, don't care about your case at all and are unwilling to help. Two of them spoke as if I were wasting their time after a 10 second conversation. If you have the chance, find a better insurer.
