I like restaurants like this with an old school vibe. Portion sizes were a little disappointing, but still tasty.

The onion rings was very hard and the burger was very small and didn't taste good stomach is upset

I didn't know what I was getting myself into when we picked this place as I'd never been. Food was mediocre and not cooked to order, service was about the same, and worst was the throw back atmosphere which was really lazily done. I guess this is a KC chain, how they have more than one is baffling.

The service was great but the onion rings in my 50/50 were hard almost stale tasting and they wouldn't let me choose how I wanted my egg.... On the other hand the the banana split and cherry limeade was awesome..not sure if I will be a regular customer...just nothing too exciting about it.

Alright food and fantastic milkshakes! 10/10 banana shake.

We are not originally from KC so when I tried Winestead s double cheeseburger for the first time I realized why people around here like Winestead s. Their shakes are great too! Service isn t always the best and the restaurant at the plaza could use some updating because is seems a bit grungy. I ll be back for more notwithstanding!

Winsteads is my favorite burger joint. Imagine Feddy's but not a huge franchise and been doing it for 80 years or something. Honstly they are the best thin style steak burgers in the world. No sarcasm or exaggeration. Great shakes as well. Fries are underwhelming tho...

Always great when I go. I get the trip winsteads with bacon, grilled onion, and pickles. Always grill the onions. Food comes out super quick and staff is nice as well. If you're looking for a quick cheap bite this is the place.

Great food, sweet waitress. Ceiling tiles need replaced from damage issues.

I've been to this establishment a handful of times in the last couple weeks to pick up deliveries - so far my experience has been good. The service was fairly speedy and the employees seemed friendly.

Can often take a long time for your food but its definitely worth it! Make sure you get a malt :)

A dependable, go-to burger joint, for as long as I can remember.

I don't know what happened to this place - maybe new ownership or something - but the past few times I've been have been sub par. I just waited in the drive thru for like 20-30 minutes on a Sunday night. At least the gal at the window was super nice. Winstead's used to rock but those days are long gone.

Great prices, cop there in the night, feels safe. The waitress we had that night was very preoccupied but it looked like the other servers weren't helping so not 100% her fault.

Very fun restaurant. Some what clean. Food is good and reasonably priced. Some of the workers are kind of rude and unkept.

It's historical for burgers (ok) and shakes (malts preferred are delish) and fries/onion rings (generally not very hot when served and cold quickly). Service was excellent. Like the retro 50's decor.

Food was ok, the kids enjoyed the old-timey atmosphere. The place needs a bit of a cleanup though and a fresh coat of paint.

Burger was ok, fries were expensive and so so. Brownie sundae was drowning in hot fudge one tiny scoop of less than average ice cream, with 3 piles of whip cream and tons of cherries and not worth $4+

Sure, the portions are smallish here, but I've never walked away hungry or spent more than $10 (including tip). If you like Steak-n-Shake, you'll love Winstead's. Ask for grilled onions on your burger.

One of the few places left where you can get a REAL chocolate malt made with real ice cream. Drive thru is open 24/7.

Excellent milkshakes. Good food. I really like their sides (fries, onion rings and tots). If you're feeling ambitious, try to finish a skyscraper milkshake.

Calvin Trillin was right! One of the best burgers in the world. There was drive-in service and carhops when our folks first took us there in the early 60's. Carhops are gone but the burgers and frosties are just like I remember them.

Greeted warmly, order taken and delivered quickly, and so delicious!!!

Got the grilled ham and cheese. It was not worth $4.25. There was a good amount of ham (5 or 6 slices), but only 1 small slice of cheese. A grilled ham and cheese should be an ooey, gooey delight. Instead I got a rather salty, and really dry sandwich. For $4.25 they could afford an extra slice of cheese. Better yet, lose a slice of ham (make it only 3 or 4 slices), and add 2 more slices of cheese. 3 slices of cheese, and 3 or 4 slices of ham would make this a wonderful sandwich.

Jennifer was our waiter, and she was fantastic. She gets 5 stars. The GM who I found out is here gets less than 1. After I complained, the GM didn't even bother to come over.

Amanda was great! The food was as good as I remember it from when I worked at the one in Northtown many years ago.

While the menu is limited they make everything so darn well that it doesn't matter.

Always a warm atmosphere with great music and hot, cheap food. I've been tens of times, at 5:30 am to read books before class and get coffee, and at 12 am to get skyscrapers with my friends. No bad experiences. Always happy to go and sad to leave.

Lovely old-style family diner. A favorite of KCAI students. Ask about the Skyscraper Shake.

the decorations, and overall look of the place is remarkable. its very fun and welcoming, right when you walk through the door its like you time traveled to another dimension. the staff is a little awkward and they don't do much talking. and its also a long wait as well, but the wait is okay because the taste of the food makes up for it. I would definitely recommend this place, the food is delicious and the shakes are the best!

Great burger an you gotta get a giant shake over 100 oz for under 10 bucks

Good milkshakes and if you're looking for a simple burger than this is the place for you. A bit pricey for the amount you get.

Staff was great, food was good, cook came out and checked what I wanted and did a perfect job.

My husband not a half hour ago was declind service at the door. They acccused him of being homeless and trashing their bathroom. For their information he works at State Line Animal Hospital in Leewood kansas and was stopping by to get a coca-cola some dinner and to get out of the cold while whaiting on his last bus home. Yea i guess you look homeless when you dress for the weather. We will never be patrons again.This was unacceptable
