Great service, great food, low price, a lovely lil dinner

Your basic burger and shake restaurant with bubbly employees who make the eating experience better to a degree.

Mostly a la carte orderering, but great tasting food. A few healthy options, great place for late night recovery or a quick bite.

I had a chocolate malt and onion rings, both very good. My wife described her burger as "OK." (She's not big on fast-food burgers.)

Excellent spot for tasty Burgers. Looking forward to going back again. It has a nice atmosphere.

I came here at 11 am with my friend who had been drinking since 7 am. Our server was a very good sport. I would have ordered a skyscraper if it weren't for the servers dead eyes as they sang the skyscraper song to the table. I didn't want to contribute to that. Fav burger place right now! Highly recommend the tots

This place does not have any customer service that is good. I had never been there so I went through the drive thru and told the lady to please hold on while I looked at the menu. She then kept asking me to order every three seconds. After I was rushed I decided what I wanted and told her. But she couldn't get the order right. I told her it 5 times. She got frustrated and just told me the price and ordered me to go to the window. When I got there I paid and she only gave me one drink and one fry when I clearly said I wanted two 5 times. When I asked for the other one she told me I was going to have to pay for it in a very rude tone. I told her to forget about it. Then as I was driving off my boyfriend pulled a long hair out of his sandwich. We didn't even eat any of it and we threw it all away and went somewhere else. I would NOT recommend this place to anybody.

It was Easter Sunday not sure if I have changed or it has. Customer service was good. I don't recall the hamburgers being so small and slightly greasy but I guess it's goal is too mimic the style of the 50s and 60s. Guess we have gotten used to supersizing! The same old juke box was there. Working barely and turned down low. Maybe the place could use some TLC or maybe I just forgot

Overall, it's pretty good. The food is exactly what you expect and if you go in the day the service is great. At night during the week there are a couple of the employees who work the drive thru that can be just awful. To the point where I've left a few times without ever ordering.

OPEN 24 Hours a Day!!! Every DAY!!! Grate Chary-limeade!! okay cheap burger, but always fresh. Its like being in a time machine and going back to a better place in time like the 1950. Retro dinner with great cheap food. A treasure for KC!!!! Keep up the good work guys!!

The chicken tenders are always my go to if not a burger.

Perfect for a late night burger in the city. During the day it can get a Bit crowded, but I mean it's inexpensive. I have found the service to be really slow no matter what time of the day you go in. The waitresses are always really nice though and are really trying. I think they are understaffed most days. But you can't beat the price, also I love their skyscrapers, but make sure you have at least 4 people to share it with, because they are huge.

Man this place changed. My to go order took... 3 minutes tops? Amazing. So good, so fresh. Both burgers were special as I hate ketchup and my SO hates pickles. Both were correct. The server who took me order was quick to greet and very kind. Thank you to him!

Good "greasy spoon" food, nice atmosphere. Service was kind of slow but they were in training and short staffed.

Waitress completely ignored us after taking our order. Got up to leave, said something...no apology...just goodbye. My oldest kid made a comment that maybe they don't serve his kind...yes he's black...the kids were only people of color in there.

Some of my favorite burgers in town. Atmosphere has a fun diner vibe. Great prices and delicious food. Breakfast is served until 10:30 so get there early!

First ham bugger in 1960 , last one in 2010! They are still the best !

I went in close to when the dining room closed to grab a Togo order real quick. They had already shut down the carry out register, but Wanda went ahead and took the order anyway. Everything came out great and exactly as ordered. She gave great service and made sure I got what I wanted before I left

Pretty bad service. 25 minutes and we didn't even get the drinks. Didn't stay to try the food to be honest.

This place is trash, cold cheese on my burger cold fries, and rude employees. But at least my Cherry Limeade was drinkable.

Sadly , we've had it twice in a weeks time. The burgers, especially the bread were very dry and potatoes under cooked . Is the bread supposed to be smooshed so flat ? It use to be pretty good. Very disappointed

What more could you ask for of a 24-hour diner? My friend and I arrived around 1a.m and we were promptly greeted and seated. We ordered our eats just minutes after being seated and ate delicious diner cuisine shortly after.

Old fashioned goodness. People are on a first name basis, happy hour was amazing. I'd recommend this place to your anybody

Ehhh... Winstead's is kind of overrated. The burgers are not great. They do have phenomenal Cherry limeades though!

This is the place to go when nothing else is opened...you'll find food but you'll have to be hungry as hell to enjoy it! But nice shake consistency on the ice cream!!!

Staple of Kansas city. The burgers are great. I still get the shakes and thought they were amazing as a kid, not as much now days. I keep going to keep them going. Plaza location is the best though. The only one deserving of 5 stars (and may be the only one left?).

Love this place. My babe's dad use to work here when he was a little boy and he told me I needed to try their shakes and burgers and I must say I fell in love!

The service and food was delicious. Our server Amber was very tentative to our needs and had a great presence about her.

Love winsteads. Burgers are great fries are ok and shakes are very good. At the last visit my order was messed up but not too horribly. (Missing condiment)

The night staff is not very accommodating.
The waitress tried to seat my group up front in the crowded space near the door. We told her we didnt wanna be near the door (people constantly walking by, the draft from the door... just not a pleasent spot) and she walked right over to the table 4 feet across from it, basically the same spot.
We asked why everyone was in this tiny area and why we couldn't have space (i dont want to be bothered with hearing other people's conversations and looks during my meal, and I dont want to bother anyone with mine.)
She said staff was limited. I dont see what that has to do with anything. Dont you want your customers to be comfortable? Dont you get paid to serve? Why do we have to suffer because you're too lazy to walk?
We asked if we could go to the back and she said no. We had to insist on the table in the middle section on the same side of the restaurant near the restrooms; she didn't even wanna give us that one, maybe she was saving it. (btw later she seated other people in the area we asked to be in but was denied).
Our table didnt have condiments and we asked her to bring some. She said ok but wouldnt write it down. Food came out and we had to ask again (again, dont you get paid for this? why do I have to ask more than once.) We didnt get refills the entire time we were there until we flagged her down and ask for them at the end when she brought us our bills.
Also, my change wasnt returned. I KNOW IT WAS ONLY 19 CENTS, but it was still MY change and I have the privilege to decide what to do with it... just like I have the privilege to decide where I will spend my money on a late night meal... and it wont be here again. Our experiences are never really pleasent when we come. It's as if they dont remember we have a choice and dont have to be here. Ill start spending my money else where.

Winstead's is a Kansas City institution. Great service with a great, old school menu and vibe. The cherry limeade and onion rings are always on point.

If you like greasy dinner food then this is the place to go! Also the cherry limeades are my favorite.

Comfort burgers and fries with a sweet, retro atmosphere. Some highlights include the limeade, the 50/50, the great shakes, and the apple dumpling! Great for lunch and a 24/7 drive through.
