Best diner in kc great food ambiance and service definite return trip to this establishment

Definitely a solid place to eat with the family or with someone you love, great for late night being 24-7. I love this place.

this is my absolute favorite resturant to go to when i come into the city. i love the staff, the food is AMAZING and its not too pricy like the rest of the places around the plaza.

I've been going to Winsteads since I was a kid. I usually go around once every couple months. Tonight my boyfriend and I decided to get some late night drive thru. We ordered 2 Double Winsteads with everything & cheese, 50/50 tots & onion rings, fries and 2 large milkshakes. Milkshakes tasted fine although ALL OF OUR FOOD WAS COLD! Burgers buns were smashed buns and had obviously been sitting there premade. We live on 36th & main which take maybe 5 mins tops for us to get home. There is no reason pur food wouldve lost that much heat to be cold by the time we got home.
I understand it is drive thru, but paying $34 for cold food is completely unacceptable. Especially when the business prides themselves on fresh cooked food even when using the drive thru. We called and spoke with manager hopefully our money is refunded since our food went straight into the trash.

If you re closed for 45 minutes for shift change you re not 24/7. You re convenient when it is for the employees.

The lady at the drive-thru was very very very nice and pleasant! I wish I would have gotten her name, but if you get her you will know what I'm talkin about. Wednesday it is always a great place.

I absolutely love this place! Restaurant style burgers and fries and drive through open 24/7. Only downside is theres no grilled mushrooms.

Great KC tradition, just sorry that the special chocolate shake machine was broken. We consoled ourselves with limeade and cherry limeade.

Those burgers were Slamming and the atmosphere was relaxing with a terrific waitress.

First time customer. Ordered a rootbeer float for my daughter and a banana split for myself. I was on the 4th bite when my teeth grinded down on something hard and grisly feeling. It was a large chunk of glass. The waitress was mortified and aplolgized several times. She was very nice, and obviously I didn't pay for the order. Regardless of the apologetic waitress,
I won't be back. Thank goodness i didn't swallow it!

I have literally been going here for amazing food for over 40 years. Still the best! My daughter whom is 11 just got her first SKYSCRAPER

This place isn't as great as it used to be. My mom ordered onion rings and the bag was filled with grease at the bottom. I reached out to them because clearly no one cared enough to allow grease to drain some before bagging them but they haven't responded. Since they don't care enough to respond to a customer then I can't spend anymore money here.

One of my old, favorite places for a burger in KC. Diner with nostalgic amenities and atmosphere. Shakes and onion rings. Single, double or a triple. Pretty standard burger joint.

I don't need a pound of ground beef in my burger, so this It's my favorite burger joint in KC. Their orangeade taste a little watered down in the last couple of years but I'm still addicted to it. This is my go to place for a quick meal.

Makes me miss my ex but brings back phenomenal memories of the time we spent there together.

Love the homemade taste of the food and if you are a crushed ice connoisseur you must get a large cup of ice. Nostalgic of mom & pop diners, open 24 hrs and they are pretty good at keeping the drive-thru moving considering they cook-to-order.

Employees do seem a bit irritated while taking my order, but I'm sure it's because they're so busy making my order perfect and out of this world amazing every single time I go there (which is quite often). Also, the line can sometimes take a while. Totally worth it. Delicious.

Fantastic place! Be prepared to wait though, and if you do make sure your group is all there or you won t be seated. The food is fantastic, we got the burgers, fries and onion rings. You HAVE to get the skyscraper shake, we almost didn t finish it with the four of us but we did. Will be back soon!

Winsteads is an institution. The simplicity is the best part. I don't have 400 things to choose from. Just a couple delicious options. Also the fries are to die for.

Winsteads is like an old country music star that can only give a glimpse of it's former glory. The once vibrant space has been dulled by time and the rise of competition renders this place mostly irrelevant. Food quality is inconsistent at best and the lone bright spot is the friendly waitstaff.

A great place to eat at.. great wait staff and cooks.

Decent 24 hour burger and milkshake joint. A classic KC tradition. Hit or miss quality, but when it hits it hits the spot deliciously. Love the banana malt and a grilled cheese with a side of 50/50. Don't forget to ask for extra salt packets for those fries, fat and yummy but def needs it.

This was great for an old fashioned diner experience. Fast Service and great people. Down hown people feeling.
