This airport is an absolute joke! For over 20min there s been no one at the Passport Control desks. My flight leaves in 40min and there s no one that will let me get to my gate. That s just the last terrible experience For me in this airport. Useless employees everywhere! Never coming back to Sicilia that s for sure!
Structure with different opportunities for improvement, actually a bit 'of things do not work properly .......
Management capacity of an airport I would say almost non-existent. Organization devoted to business to the detriment of the inefficiencies it creates in order to make cash. I vote less than zero but we are in Italy and this is the result of the great powers given to managers.
You can not continue to land in Catania and find incompetent people who at the info desk know the transport timetables, near the bus shelters, the outdated bus schedules, the destinations written on the wrong bus boards and see people losing their bus because it did not ask each driver the route he takes ... We are almost in 2020 it is shameful
1 hour for the collection of the bags upon return from Rome is an impossible thing
Not a bad airport. Some confusion prior to entering the terminal due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Wi-Fi doesn't work which is terrible.
bad organization and endless files .. too bad !!!!!!!
They had to build it even smaller so that the paths leading to the parking lots became even more complex not to go out anymore. Inside the airport there are very few shops and there are no columns for recharging electronic devices; so if you work on the go make sure you have enough batteries to complete the task. There is a 20 minute franchise for free car parking.
Hopeless and poor airport with a mediocre culinary offering. It is difficult to find places to charge your mobile phone and the sound level is not at all pleasant - it is extremely echoing which becomes tiresome after a while. Avoid if possible.
Typical Sicily but that's life.
I'm always looking forward to a good espresso, arancini and canolli!
Un saluto a tutto il mondo!
We were at the airport during strike, a big mess, super crowded. Unfortunately airport has notany facilities providing quality food. For the + it is clean and stuff is helpful.
If you could give less than 5 I would do it. I landed with my two elderly parents after picking up the rental vehicle I have forbidden entry to be able to withdraw by forcing them to make more than 800 meters on foot. Tolerance zero humanity less than zero ... That sucks !!!
Only one toilet available after security check. Small and crowded airport. One plus: good restaurants.
Crowded. Without safety distance. Insufficient air conditioning. Dramatic experience
I've been to this airport 3 times, it's very convenient, there are many bars.
The airport itself is not bad especially after the checks. Shops, bars with very kind staff (at least for the experience I had) especially clean bathrooms. However, smoking cabins are missing ... I know that it is better not to smoke, however, after a while that you are there waiting for boarding ... A smoking area wouldn't be bad
Totally disorganized airport. It is not recommended to take a coffee or break, because you are deceived by the staff in the chaos. The Acquisto Wine Bar is not recommended at all. Unfortunately we were cheated on the money, the staff were very unpleasant when we confronted them.
Small but functional airport equipped with all services. I recommend trying grandma Vincenza's desserts after passing the checks.
Despite being the only flight going out, airport crew managed to loose luggage and delay the flight.
I have been traveling up and down Italy and Sicily for over 10 years. I have seen this airport grow and improve year after year. They are still doing the necessary extensions and renovations if tourism in Sicily is to grow, also benefiting those like me, from Veneto-Sardo with their family in Sicily who need to travel weekly.
Bad airport .... no elevators after the boarding gate. Really inconvenient for those who have a stroller.
Best thing was the complaint/suggestions box.
(But there were no complaint forms. These were strategically hidden BEHIND the security check.)
they were families with babies who had to wait on their feet for more than 2 hours without the police doing anything , bad management , i highly don t reccomend this airport , just very very bad
Precarious measures of respect for the pandemic emergency. It is not enough to send a voice that invites you to respect the safety distance, xi wants effective control because people do not understand otherwise
Airport rather scarsino in proportion to the catchment area. Quite a few chaotic places to sit and after security checks a few shops. When it rains it drips everywhere from the roof ... you could do more ...
Food is poor in quality and price wildlife flying round the departure lounge and grotty toilets. I am sat on the floor as I write due to no seating. Duty free is also inflated to prices above the uk high street.
shameful disorganization ... all users conveyed in a single row without distinction of time or destination. Mal information indicated on the reference boards for check in.
Well organized, he does not lower his guard following the Covid19, all incoming passengers are scanned in temperature, we feel safe.
Hallucinating, people parked on the road leading to the upper floor of the departures and warnings to passengers to puncture the gables in blood.
Security personnel at the entrance with lowered mask
Only chemical toilets in pitiful condition
The only bar outside the airport despite having exorbitant prices, bathrooms CLOSED
One of the worst I've ever been in. To start the rental car drop off is a hike from the terminal so you're nice and hot and sweaty when you get in. There is only one kiosk for a lot of airlines with a long que to check people in. Arrive 3 hours early. Way too crowded with nowhere to sit and the AC can't cool in the summer. Everyone is sweating and cranky. No water unless you buy it. Could have got into the lounge but forgot my priority pass and the Amex Platinum wasn't enough. There also was nowhere to sit in the lounge. Not sure if a plane has ever taken off on time either!
Leaving aside what others have already said (confusing etc ...), I wanted to focus on one particular episode that happened to me. I was traveling with a cat, and when I went to the controls, the assistant quietly invited me to pass it inside the pet carrier under the X-rays. I incredulously specified again that I had an animal, convinced that one of us had misunderstood, and she confirmed what was said. For the uninitiated, the x-rays with which they check baggage are obviously harmful to animals as much as to humans, in fact in ALL airports they make you carry the animal in your arms under the metal detector while under the x-rays it passes the empty pet carrier. Obviously, despite the words of the inspector, I did exactly that.
Starting with the awareness of never returning ?????
The most badly managed airport in Italy, the perfect mix of incompetence and bad faith. If unfortunately you have your luggage in the hold, know that I would wait at least 1 hour for pick
Convenient airport attached to the city.
Traffic and services must be improved.
I think this was the most inefficient boarding experience I ever had. Congratulations. The airport just grew too small for the crowd that passes and the announcements are all over the place. It's clean though, and there's some food, so 2 stars.
Service not that good
I have posted some of its pictures Plz like them

Truly massive queue outside the airport without staff to regulate covid measures. No communication about the new covid measures and what it means for travelers. Official website is out of date. The state of Italy's flag outside the airport speaks volumes to the current state of this airport and its management.
Very rude control staff, an indication of lack of professionalism. Sin.
Medium-sized airport, always very crowded, kind to families (with reserved gate and courteous staff even with children).
We arrived from Barcelona. It is a small airport but everything has worked very well and fast. It took us less than 30 minutes to collect our luggage and go outside. Perfect.
Basic facilities. It was hard to find bus to the city so I took taxi, which cost me about 40 for 10 minutes ride.. but Sicily worth it.
Airport with long waits for baggage claim. When we landed there were only 2 more arrivals. Waiting time about 45 minutes
Given what we are experiencing due to covid 19 they are handling the port well.
One of the worst Italian airports, it is not possible that after years of traveling from this airport you will NEVER leave on time except on exceptional occasions. A shame! Endless waiting on the stairs for the cursed shuttles, be it beautiful or bad weather, rain, snow, hail or sun. Shame.
Little organized, endless things for luggage drop off, only one door open.
One of the busiest in Italy .. the first in southern Italy. 10 million passengers.
Nice and small airport. The best airport to fly in and out of Sicily. Well connected to Catania and with buses serving different destinations in the Island. In summer it is very busy since it is handling more and more people every year coming here to visit Sicily. Last update 2019.09.05 in high season the airport doesn t handle well all the people travelling. Long queues at airport security and at the gates.
Probably one of the worst airports i've been to. Hectic, unorganised and shocking service. Arrived 1hr 30mins before departure and still almost missed the flight. This was due to the 1000+ people trying to get past passport control, which was manned by 2 people, yes 2 and no it's not a joke. The worst part was, there was no control, no announcements and later we would find out that BA didn't even know about the issues on the other side.
All the passengers heard was "don't worry, it's fine". The level of arrogance and ignorance faced could have been resolved by simply opening a few more booths. No heath and safety precautions during a pandemic, with frustrated passengers with no mask coverings and barely 1cm apart.
Next time I'm in Sicily, it will be via Palermo, even if it means driving the rest of the way to Noto.
Attention, when you buy take-away food ... always check that there is all the content purchased before leaving the airport ... do the scoundrels! Eye!
Very fast clean and functional airport luggage service
We are in 2018 and the luggage room is in the center of Catania .... We say scandalous to use a clean language
45 minutes waiting time for a 50 minute flight. Indecent.
Negative .. once you exit Catania airport you can no longer go back to go to the services nor to the bar even though they made me the thermal scanner and it turned out to be healthy
Nice location, only 20 minutes by bus from Catania city center (4 euro a ticket). But airport itself is tiny, big crowds waiting for a passport control, moving painfully slow.
They could have done better. Difficult parking and complicated to get those arriving
Over crowded and understaffed. Have seen better run airports in rural India.
Terminal C of Catania airport is really not so good. It is in previsiore construction and no clime. In addition he has a shabby stand taxfree shop. Not air conditioned. No way to get fresh air after recording. Attention for easyjet users at the start to the catane is obliged to use this'Terminal C '.
Every time I went I never had problems: staff at the check - in very kind, food service ok, clean toilets, I always found parking even at peak times.
Everything is extremely poor organised, restrooms are VERY dirty, staff is indefferent, ignorant and rude.
AWFUL! For 10 years we have been noticing the total disorganization: late check-ins, half-closed police checkpoints, so many people out of place and confused, but this year to manage queues at the gates due to call the police, only at that point the staff did their duty. Too bad that by now we had lost our flight beyond repair. It is an abomination that a splendid city like Catania and its surroundings should depend on a painful airport. For those who should use it, we recommend 2 hours in advance for departures, at any time. We will no longer fly over Catania.
Typical Italian airport. With a little calm and serenity you can find your way. Minimalist in style, the essentials like toilets and a kiosk with coffee and water are available. 5 minutes walk to the famous car rental companies.
Very bad experience the people who work for esayjet do not understand a receipt of residence permit they prevented me from getting on the plane I was going to miss my flight I went to speak with the customs they explained well to them in more delay of 1h and 2 min there is a small bar restau no choice and people do not speak English to understand me short it's suck
Most of the reviews speak of disservices from the various companies that have little to do with the organization of the airport in my opinion impeccable.
I have visited about 15 airports and from the point of view of cleaning this is one of the best, the bathrooms are modern and fragrant equipped with all the automatic systems that prevent contact with the various parts of the same.
Very nice and prepared staff.
Panorama at breathtaking take-off, the sea caresses the imposing volcano.
Medium sized airport, very crowded but organized.
Security checks as per regulations with manual spot luggage check.
Presence of army soldiers and police.
Just outside the airport there is the bus station with routes to the train station from where you can take the metro.
A disaster !! 3 hours to record, queues not managed by the staff, the Italians showing total civility and doubling to go faster, staff madly making fun of the passages! Arrive well in advance (and that's an understatement !!).
