Airport underpowered for the number of passengers. There are no seats available for waiting. Also, they board passengers at the fairies to make them wait on the stairs. On 09/13/18 I arched myself on the flight to Bologna and I was waiting on the stairs then inside the bus with my over 80 year old mother for more than half an hour on my feet!

Without a doubt the worst passport control service ever! Only 3/4 members of staff for hundreds of people. Poor layout as the queue for passport control is right next to the queues for several gates!! If we had known this we would have arrived an hour earlier as we were in the queue for over an hour! Due to this several flights were delayed! At no point did any staff apologise which is appalling! Shocking
A very nice airport, however, if you want to drink something or a beer it costs you above all at the bar in front of you ahi balance but if you are on holiday do not think about it really happy holidays at all
This is a busy little airport serving the East coast of Sicily. The staff are friendly and helpful. One year I was wearing a red long sleeved Iron Man shirt for the flight home. (And, yes, it does look like a red Spiderman shirt.) As we were going through Security a large Security Guard walked past me and starting singing the Spiderman theme song (Spiderman, Spiderman) in English! It was very funny as you would not expect humour from a Security Guard at an airport. If you want a bottle of water then go to the small Siciliana's Bar/Restaurant/Shop on the far right AFTER Security and BEFORE Passport Control.. If you want a bottle of water and a glass of wine then go to the large Siciliana's Bar/Restaurant/Shop on the far left AFTER Security and BEFORE Passport Control. Bottles of water cost 1.70 each and large glasses of wine cost 6.00, 7.00 or 8.00 each.
Large Airport and very crowded. The organization is not the best but the detail that passes to the eye is the numerous inland areas with mold and poorly treated

COVID period: having closed all accesses except one inbound and one outbound due to queues, gatherings and delays. Other reviews say to show up well in advance, but ATTENTION, the guard at the entrance will not let you in if there are more than 3 hours left before departure. On the site and on social media I could not find any communication about it. Like us, literally dozens of other people were rejected at the entrance, demonstrating the lack of communications from the airport.

Our experience was rather weak. There is hardly any seating, the toilets are massively overcrowded for women. Almost all signs are in Italian only. Then we had to wait forever (over an hour) for our luggage. A group from Rome who arrived later came before us and led to further confusion.
The staff don't know how to manage volumes. Queues everywhere and no management. I stood in the 'speedy' boarding queue for 30 minutes (still here) I dread what the security queue would be and the eventual boarding of the plane. Plan a number of hours here if you do travel here because they are not organised or willing to help unfortunately.

At the boarding checks they let us down 2 jars of honey bought from Zafferana Etnea and two jars of chopped chilli because they exceeded the maximum size for hand luggage by 10g. Even if you have to pay in advance by CB, on the spot, if you do not have a CB on which is mentioned "credit", no possibility of being entrusted a car and you lose the amount which you had to pay. The staff justifies itself by explaining that the CB "credit" is essential to be able to block the deposit and that the term CB "CREDIT" is well stipulated in the contract. With our credit card, we had no problem renting from Sixt.
well organized from Terminal A (arrivals and departures), passengers are directed to a long cordoned corridor towards Terminal C, where an excellent organization of doctors and staff carries out quick swabs to all passengers arriving in Catania.
Well what to say? First I'm in my native land, then I'm not far from the place where I was born. And then there is more beautiful to see once you fly, a magnificent city, with the beautiful Etna behind it, and a view of the sea that you would not tire of for a lifetime, even if some parasites are there.

Personally I found the environment fairly clean. My flights have always been punctual. Never a lost bag. I may have been lucky but the bathrooms were fairly clean. I considered the security checks to be normal, neither too long nor lengthy or insufficient and hasty.
I caught the pigeon at the terminal that left the souvenir on a seat and it remained dirty until I left but I don't think we could have everything.
Obviously it is not at the level of major airports like CDG but not even Catania has the same population as Paris. I don't think it's that bad.
Too small, no sidewalks outside, simple restaurants, too many check-ins at a counter, airport much too small, no seating, flight there and back over 30 minutes late.
The toughest airport. Crazy long queues, dirt, disgust, little space. We are forced to sit on the ground, there is no hygienic needs on the toilet. I really don't understand how such an airport in the European Union can exist. Moreover, refreshment prices are astronomical. One counseling meal for 1 000 Czech crowns.
The toilets are dirty but not during the day with urine encrustations in the urinals the filthy sinks look like a 3rd world airport to me. At the reception with very few staff and moreover late many super smells and little who work and also many of the staff who walk around
Terrible airport. No trolleys to be found outside the arrival hall.. wheelchair service stops just outside the arrivals so the passenger has to the walk to a tourist bus for example. My luggage was put on the wrong belt and resulted lost. 3 days of calling a machine still said the suitcase had not been found. At last a friend went to the airport and discovered that had been there all along. Total lack of interest in passenger service. Long lines for the toilets which are dirty and missing paper and soap.
The bar in front of SICILIA'S gates (after the check on the left at the bottom, up the stairs) sells very sad sandwiches at a high price, the staff who make no effort to appear interested in their work, comment in dialect that now the line of customers already long, it will make it reach the planes! But I say, can you? I notice that the employees do not have a cash desk, but an automatic machine that gives change and receipt based on what you buy .. But I say ... 1 star for the price of taxis ... I live in Catania 2 km from the airport, it takes no more than 10 minutes. I had to take it out of necessity, price: 25 (without invoice). A robbery, unfair.

Saturated airport with long waits at security crossings. Many planes late. The only benefits of this airport are the multitude of destinations and the good connection to the center of Catania by bus for 4 .

Small airport in relation to the huge passenger traffic, but well distributed. the passage to the vehicles on the road in front of the arrivals is forbidden (ground floor), parking also at about 50m .. for a quick greeting use the elevated road in front of the departures (first floor) where the use of means of transport is allowed, not you can park but you can stop for loading unloading people-suitcases. Car parks for short and long stops even a few meters from the airport .. Before leaving in addition to the various clothing stores. of electronics ... restaurant .... it is good to also visit one of the bars and enjoy one of the excellent Sicilian specialties,. . I love the "cannolo with ricotta". As for the boarding .. efficient luggage control, no long queues .... You don't have to walk long corridors to reach the "Gate" on duty .. And shuttle buses are often used to reach the planes ...
File to very long security checks (almost an hour on average) because even at peak times only three or four passages out of 11 are open. Several times you risk losing your flight even though you arrive well in advance of the indicated time. Total disorganization in parking spaces for cars. Probably well managed from the COVID point of view but for everything else I find myself having to do a bad review, not having the luggage storage I found myself having to reach the city center to find the only one open (via Mancini) with online booking , alibus without a real timetable, you know when it leaves the airport but you don't know when it comes back (luckily taxis), closed refreshment points and women's bathroom in a disgusting state (partly attributable to the airport but rather to the rudeness of some ) .. The baggage handler lost .... despite our complaints of waiting for the return of the baggage .. he continued to play with the phone without looking up .... this indicates the great security of the fixed place .... obviously has a strong recommendation

The airport inside is modern and spacious but like all boarding points it suffers from the congestion of arriving and departing passengers often accompanied by friends and relatives. Not a bad airport, just do not rush to pass passport control, if there is still time before the flight. Waiting area is small, very small and meager duty free and complete absence of cafes. There is a pair of three machines with coffee and juices.
I have not received a refund, I have not received assistance as it is not included in the refunds .... Meanwhile we have to buy a suitcase and so much money we have to put us.
Extreme waiting times at check-in, now I remember why you should be at the airport 2.5 hours beforehand. An economy counter was open for 4 Lufthansa flights. Airport is not very big but it is equipped with all the services, very clean, with numerous restaurants at medium prices, and also quality, staff in order and friendly and quite efficient control services. To get there and leave there is a very efficient bus costing around 4 euros per person.
I often pass from here I must say that it is always very crowded and the controls are long and endless. The shops inside are slightly expensive but it fits in like all airports. However comfortable from the center of Catania and well served by buses of the interbus line etc.
Long queue for check in. Very few facilities, Inadequate seating in departures by a long way, no refreshments after passport control. Suggest not to leave main hall until later. Secutity was, however, very speedy
