Badly designed airport. In the departure area there are no seats (never seen in any other airport), while in the arrivals area there are seats but in the board you can only see incoming flights and therefore you have to get up go up and see them from there . The most senseless thing is passport checks. I had a flight to bankok and we arrived at the airport 3 30h earlier than expected and at the passport checks they kept us waiting in a kilometer row because they had to pass passengers to London first. So even if you arrive early, you are a slave to the senseless decisions of the staff. Airport to avoid.

I've flown through this airport several times as I visit family at least twice a year and I've had many experiences with the ground staff, security and the facilities. Each and every time the ground staff display their ineptitude, rudeness and overall lack of interest in doing their jobs. They are chronically understaffed, have dirty, poorly maintained restrooms, malfunctioning air conditioning in the jetways and consistently underperform at every way imaginable.
They've lost my luggage a disproportionate amount of times, which may not be their fault if it's coming from elsewhere, but in handling the lost luggage they: 1) don't call to tell you when it has arrive and 2) wait until they have enough bags to make a delivery worthwhile. It usually takes a week to get your luggage back which is completely inexcusable.
Unfortunately, short of murdering someone, you can't be fired in Italy for bad customer service. So, complain as we might, they will never do anything to fix it.
It is my point of arrival and departure from Sicily ... pleasant waiting and transfer by plane ... some difficulties, however, in renting a car.
Absolute disgrace of an airport,wrong info on display boards,not all gates were accessible, had to wait ages to be let through as our gate 22 was other side of a passport check desk even though passports had already been checked,our plane was delayed we were kept on the airport bus liked packed sardines....never again loved Scicily though.

At Catania airport Times are always biblical, waiting for checked baggage on arrival is on average 25 minutes (on 8 journeys). Waiting for eternal Checkin compared to other Italian airports, I am sorry to see it, but this is my experience.

Very well organized and available by all operators. The car rental service is a bit slow but this happens when there are many people. The controls like all the airports have now seemed to me fairly quick and effective. Then each airline would deserve a separate discussion. All in all very positive

The airport has good access and an adequate number of parking lots. A serious downside is the small number of places to rest (benches) after arrival and departure. Check-in is quite quick, but due to the significant delay of arrival and departure, there is nothing to do for many hours (especially at night), there is nowhere to sit and all catering points and not only at 22:00 close.
It is an excellent airport, everyone is kind and welcoming. Minus one star due to lack of body temperature control at the entrance, sanitizer containers are few and empty, absence of acoustic reminder to maintain distance. Minus another star for closed access for departures and incomprehensible road signs.

Disorganization since the parking lot where the areas are not well defined. Inside and outside of the building in spite of recent construction by the impression of old, due to lack of care and cleaning glass. The inside shops could work better and more if they were arranged differently.
Nice airport, if you need to pass airport control, there is no passport control officer. You have to stand in the line until somebody will come. There are 30 minutes until the boarding and they just arrived .

As absurd as in a southern airport, things are paid twice as much as in a northern airport like Malpensa. It makes you laugh enough.

Terrible airport, small and inefficient. Took forever for my bags, then tried to grab a taxi and all of them were on strike for the day. There is no other option to travel to Catania, I guess next time I ll take a boat.

Only two officers had cheking the passports for more then two hundred people. We had stand in the line more the one hour. No respect to passengers that need to pass passport control for departure. Area for them have no seats and the space is very small. We had feel like an animals there.

This airport is a disgrace. Security is shamefully organised. Worst thing you can't have a smoke after the security check. You have to go outside and take the check again. My flight had a three hour delay. Thanks for nothing. Disappointed.
The airport is much too full, overloaded. The road to get there is small and full of potholes. The shops and bars are too expensive, we spent 30 euro for a couple of sandwiches... services not too clean... pity... well still the airplain start and land, that is what an airport is for...

Checking in was very slow mainly due to TUI. Security was reasonably fast and friendly. A few shops and plenty of seats if flying internally. If flying externally e.g to UK then you go through passport control which was fairly quick. However once through the facilities were totally inadequate. Not enough seats or room with people on the floor and problems for those less able to stand. One shop with queues. Toilets were very poor. If flying to UK etc then leave it as long as possible before going through passport control.
A star because you can not give less. Insufficient, poorly managed and poorly organized on all fronts.
Neat and quite clean. The checks are done quickly enough. Resales of cannoli and arancini organized and fair prices given the quality of the products. Great view of Mount Etna when the weather permits.

Small airport. Security check went smooth and friendly, check in too. This airport was way too crowded for its size. This was visible everywhere: you hardly couldn't move. Toilets were very crowded. Most hand dryers didn't work, no toilet paper... There is a kids corner, but this was crowded too and had very limited toys. WiFi required login with a social network. Much room to improve...
The check-in totems are gone. Only one lady at the check-in desk.
All efficient and precise. Kind staff. Clean environments. The only note can be moved to bathrooms with deteriorated structures and accessories.
The first airport in my experience, which didn't allow me to bring my liquid for contact lenses to the plane. Although this type of liquid is considered as medcine. SHAME!

I went here in 2011 is a perfect Italian city reflecting the history of Rome, they understand English, but still speak Italian, but the dollar does not pass the euro night but change the office you can get the dollar and get the euro to understand that you are invited to change offices are already pork in the food and say they have contributions Pork if you say that you are a Muslim, they respect you, they don't give pork, they don't eat before 12 noon, they accept breakfast time and don't insist in vain.

Took way to long at check in. There ar messy customs, no real directions from the staff. That makes for stressed out people who are cutting the line. Not a pleasant experience after an otherwise relaxing vacation.
Personally airport with rude, rude and aggressive employees and controllers. I had a very very negative experience, especially to the controllers of GAIT 12 precisely on Monday at 19:15, receiving an unfair and not at all correct fine of luggage but nothing to do he had decided that I had to pay even if I was right. Very poor airport. Long delays to just get some food. They have passport control stuck in the middle of the departures area so if your flying to Ireland or UK be prepared for another delay after getting through security. Airport really not fit for purpose considering the volume of traffic passing through it.
- No place for smoking after Check in. Not the only airport, but this is a must for me.

i love this airport, every time im there i cant help to be happy because i know im finally home. it doesnt matter what kind of service they have, at least you got there safely. It might not be a high class airport but its still nit the worst.
