Terminal C is the absolute horror. The unfriendly and unorganized staff at the Easy Jet luggage delivery is a joke. Shame on you!
Bad Terminal C. Cramped spaces and randomly managed boarding. People left with random double bags, bad staff. "New" bathrooms that look like latrines

It has improved a lot. Years ago the bathrooms were in terrible condition, but now they are clean and modern. The kindness of the staff is the first welcome in a land like Sicily where we care a lot about hospitality. It is the only airport where priority is given to pregnant women for security checks.
I personally find this airport well organized. As we all know we are talking about one of the busiest, in sixth place in Italy. There are many shops inside, a sore point with relatively high prices. Well-maintained and clean airport services and interiors. The ratings do not seem to me to be consistent with the quality levels achieved by the airport!
Over the last ten years considerable efforts and important investments have been made to adapt all airport services to passenger traffic increased so as to bring this airport to the 6th place among the Italian airports. The confusion present on the outside has almost disappeared with the creation of adequate and differentiated parking lots for short and long stops and also the various rental companies have an excellent and convenient location. The extension of the airport area has not eliminated two sore points that persist and are accentuated in the summer period of maximum traffic: the long lines badly managed in the check-in area at the departures and the long waits at the belts of incoming luggage. A functioning switchboard dedicated to information and customer service is also missing
The work of the police at Catani airport will be good, but the working staff will rate it as zero. They are not suitable and I think they are not qualified for their position. You will not get proper information from them and no help, so they did with me. I had a departure with my children at 8 p.m. and before the Gate 7.50 p.m. and she did not want to let me on the plane. And I was at the airport from 18:00.

I would like to give 0 stars. Airport has a terrible infrastructure. Too few places to sit or rest. Announcements too loud and too long. First all the blabber in Italian and then in English and felt throughout. Very awful!
It would be a normal airport, normally liveable, if there were no or at least limited announcements: insistent, booming, useless like all announcements in airports. An exhausting din!

Chaotic airport. Difficult to find car rental points, you need to do dangerous gymnastics in traffic. To go up from the ground floor to the first (departures) you need to take the elevator because the escalators are out of order, endless queues. After the security check, there is a small flight of stairs to reach the departures area, again the escalators are out of order. Lift or drag your luggage up the stairs. Poor cleaning especially in the toilets

A fairly small airport used a lot by low-cost airlines but well organized, modern bathrooms, phone recharges and lots of very good quality food shops.
They might be a little quicker to unload their luggage when the plane arrives but on the whole well.
Medieval. Can't cope with any crowds. Not a 10th adequate seating and people end up sprawling on stairs, against walls. Bathrooms smelly. Food awful and all catering seems to be done by the same company. Worst duty free and shopping I've seen since the 90s. Poor staff are way too busy to give a hoot. My advice - fly out of somewhere else if you can.
What a mess. The baggage belt was awfully crowded with multiple flights while all other belts were empty. Bad experience.

The worst airport in Europe! Long waits at check-in, no kiosks (except for Alitalia), at security check the agents get in your way and act rude and brutal, as if we were cattle! Once in the waiting area, dirty toilets, overcrowded cafes as there are only 3 for the entire airport, and they do not even clean. So waste accumulation there too ... as in most of Sicily by the way ... pity.

Many of the staff are very hard-working. However, the security check is a joke. It is not allowed to have any or only little liquid in hand luggage. Therefore, taking away the jam is incomprehensible. For once you can buy jam after checking. It is for me Rip off!!!

I honestly have to say that I found a great service on the occasion of my departure with the family. Fearful of finding long lines at check in I got too early so I had to wait for our flight desk to open. Once opened we took a few minutes to load baggage. The check before the departure area was very fast. Departures area equipped with shops especially for gastronomy. We also managed to sit down despite the considerable influx. Bathrooms a little better. Shuttle bus service for fast plane. Numerous, comfortable and cheap parking for short breaks.
Scammers! A sandwich passed off with Nebrodi ham which was actually cooked on the shoulder and another with Brie which was actually poor smoked provola. For more than 5 per sandwich. The bread had the texture of a sponge. All this at Sicilia's bar restaurant shop.
Bad experience. 50% of the departures were delayed including our own, it made the employees seem normal. The toilets were dirty, lacking soap and napkins. Poor selection of shops and restaurants, not a European airport worthy

One of the worst airports I have ever come across, if not the worst. Rude police staff on passport control who have let the small power they possess get to their heads.
The info point is not very reliable, useful only for maps, for the rest if you want to eat there a wide choice of pizzas, cannoli, very good arancini, it is organized well, (do not go to Catania on Sunday it is almost all closed and the metro closed it too unless there is some particular event)
Nothing wrong with such a small airport. Everything went smoothly and without problems.
Food is good but Wifi does not work no matter what you try. Also quite a small airport so not much else to do.

In my case, Volotea postponed my flight by 5 hours.
I find myself outside the Catania airport, 35 degrees.
All outside benches full.
Many have resorted to the small bar under the overpass to escape the heat.

Let's see that it is a small airport because it is a "small" city, but that sewer smell when arriving at Sicilian tourists howls and to fix it, then to be a "small" city is a good airport: cheap cheap and with beautiful views from Epna and the Mediterranean. Against: sewer smell, parking far from the airport and very difficult to find the car, do not speak English or Spanish or anything, only ITALIAN ... So anyway, not bad or good.
This is probably one of the more chaotic airports I've been to. If you're a stressed out person, you should show up 3 hours before your flight. Otherwise, cruise in at a normal time, join the line for no real reason, and wait for them to pluck you out of the line when it becomes impossible for you to reach the front. They did it flight-by-flight until they reached mine.
I have no idea how they manage to hold everything together but they do. Good representation of Sicily in general, I guess.
In summer, you risk waiting an hour for your personal baggage, which is definitely under number

I am back home after a business trip, I notice enormous disorganization, crowded lines of people who fill out the forms using the same pens (during the covid emergency). Upon entering the first gel dispenser I know he finds it at the baggage check .. really inadmissible in this period!

I can not talk at all at the airport. The recording in English in the service is terrible ... inaudible. Costumer service starts late ... has lunch ... ends early ... does not work end if week !!!. Absurd! There is no work at the airport.
In terms of signage it is not yet developed but ... we are in Italy ... so we stay cool.

I think that the fact that it is not so big, as an airport, is not a defect: here, in fact, it is impossible to get lost thanks to the rather small spaces compared to many other airports around Italy and in the world. There are however some shops where you can buy souvenirs, very comfortable escalators, and places to eat before your flight.
