I am impressed by the various controls there are, the airport structure is large and functional and attentive to the needs of the people, especially the trained and kind staff who assist the disabled. I was really happy with this service to have found human staff.
This airport is small, but very nice. Clean, well served and, all in all, with prices not so exaggerated as it happens in all airports !! Then, but maybe it was luck, we arrived early and on the way back on time!
The Airport is defenitely too small. It was crowded as hell and most people were forced to wait standing for their flight at the Gates, although we were there in April (which is not the main time for vacation on sicily). There were only a few Shops and fastfood-restaurants open.
Absolutely one of the worst airports I've ever been to, and i have been to hundreds. waited for 3 hours for a rental car at Hertz and ended up paying the cancellation fee and not renting a car from them. Sixy rental we're less waiting at the terminal but another 30 min at the car pickup. On the return the line to check in was 2 hours. I was 4.5 hours early only to be told after I was at the front of the line to go back to the end as I was just over 2 hours before the fkight. Insanely disorganized. Insane. If there was a zero star I'd rate it.
Excellent airport in continuous growth and with so much potential, so many destinations and airlines. From Catania it is reached in an instant, it has many parking lots and means of communication with the city. There are many places to eat good quality food for all tastes.
The negative reviews are absolutely not relevant to the quality of the airport.
Unbelievably slow, 1 hours 30 min waiting for the suitcase upon arrival, dropoff at departure similar. Security also slow. Plan a lot of time for your trip.

I quote an unpleasant episode (if it was the only one) that happened with the Easyjet company which I DO NOT RECOMMEND you from this airport for the CATANIA-NAPLES route due to nothing short of incorrect Overbooking: I haven't been able to check in for days, customer support via phone assures me that I could do it at the airport but when they get there they tell me that they are not sure I can get on the plane because there is no more room. I go to the EasyJet desk and they fall from the clouds without ever mentioning the word "overbooking" or listing any rights (which I later find to be compensation plus departure for the next flight). I hope it is "only" the incompetence that never fails to demonstrate the staff of this place at every opportunity, otherwise I wouldn't know what else to think.

Most inefficient airport I have ever been to. Queues at passport control are ridiculous with 3 security guards on to hundreds of people queing. Unfriendly staff. Cafe was also very slow with a very ineffective system in place. Won't be back here in a hurry.
Clean enough, but the lack of free WiFi and charging stations makes it somewhat limited. Food options are also somewhat sparse, though I'd assume most people won't end up spending much time in transit here.
Few places to sit. There are none at the check-in room before check-in. On the plus side, you can add a quick transfer of luggage to the tape from the plane. Get off the plane straight into the sleeve. The stands of many car rental companies are several hundred meters from the airport.

One of the worst airports I've ever been to. Passport control has a queue that felt like it was never ending. The airports food options were quite limited, either a panini or some arancini. The shopping for duty free was poor for choice and very pricey. The toilets were disgusting and there weren't many of them! Its so busy that you'd struggle to find two seats together and charging devices, forget it. To top it all off.... Not even a Burger king! Outrage I tell ya! An outrage! Rubbish airport.

This airport is typically in need of a cleanup. Overflowing trash containers, dingy walls, gloomy lighting, grungy and smelly bathrooms.

The airport is terrible, crowded and messy, ground staff isn t helpful, speak no English but that s not the problem, no one wants to help passengers, everything here works chaotically. Signs aren t clearly enough, only in Italian not much English
Not easy to do tax refund, as it s not easy to find... it s on departures floor, if you want to do it before leaving, it s located downstairs, customs located at the opposite side of rental cars. It took us an hour to process from getting a stamp at customs to the traveltex counter.
Our check-in experience wasn t pleasant, counter staff sounded rude, unfortunately it s flydubai through Emirates, it definitely drops quality for the Emirates.

Quick security check but its too crowded once your through. Not many seats available. Good food to be had if you can stand the queues and find a place to sit down.
The airport is small. Customs control passed quickly, Italian border troops are working with a spark! Toilets, however, in poor condition. And the western toilet is much better than the east. Long queues, absolutely no assistance for a disabled person despite having booked Special Assistance 3 weeks in advance. The only way to avoid the long queues is to PAY for speedy boarding and then PAY for quick access to security. If, after an hour of queuing you might want/need to sit down then you have to PAY again for VIP Lounge access, because there are very few seats in the concourse. Special assistance? Don't make me laugh.... Then you get to join the 1hr queue for Passport Control. Guess I won't bother visiting Sicily again if you have to undergo 'ordeal by airport' each trip.

They told us that they made us coffee cream in 10 minutes and after 30 we still waited. I had to claim my money and I received a "stay calm, that nothing happened" as an answer. Not maybe an "excuse me for the disservice and the wait". Waiting and long queue at check-in for security checks. A worse airport? Never seen. I suck sucks crap. And we are in Italy ... It looks like third world.

The airport is well connected with the cities. You can reach Taormina, Giardini Naxos, Siracusa, Gela, Pachino, etc. There are numerous bars to taste something typical Sicilian. It is preferable to arrive first at the airport either to check in or to take the buses.
