Small airport (compared to large cities) but meets needs well. Well organized, information available on the monitors, constant security by the Italian army. Buses to many cities stop at the airport, which is very well located close to train and bus stations in the center of catania.

It is an airport managed to save on travelers' skin! With Volotea 20 minutes waiting for boarding in a tunnel in the sun with 30 degrees without air conditioning. Some children were crying, others were clearly suffering. Immediately after the bus that takes you from the plane and also very hot and without air conditioning. Under the plane, we were locked with doors because they were still refueling and waited almost 10 minutes locked in a sunless, air-conditioned bus. I counted at least 7 babies, including 2 babies. This is not done! Shame.
I ve had better experiences at Goa airport. No food in international departures and long ques for food in other areas. I will avoid this airport in future. It s end of October can t imagine how it copes in high season.
Utterly unpleasant experience, pointless queues in front of closed desks, causing lots of discomfort to toddlers, disabled and elderly passengers alike guaranteed by lazy, slow, inefficient and disorganized staff with zero attention to detail. Many manual mistakes for a straightforward process. If Catania Airport represents Italy, then it is little wonder that they're lagging behind nearly all the rest of Europe
All in all, the airport is not bad, but compared to the new airports, it is definitely not updated in terms of logistics and passenger reception. One could invest in this airport which supports a very significant passenger traffic.
Terrible! Air conditioning insufficient, you die of heat !!!!! Suffering! Non-functioning escalators uphill. The bathroom in the check-in area is located at -1 and there is a ladder that you have to do on foot, with kids and luggage that are very tiring! After the checks another staircase that you have to do on foot (with children and suitcases). After you have done it, you realize that there was a baby carriage seat to avoid the stairs. Very narrow passages, construction sites, malfunctioning bathrooms. I gave the second star to the employees who are forced to work in these conditions and remain gentle and some smiling.
Small no thrills airport. I found the options for shopping and food were better on the non-secure side versus the secure side. Since it is small, it is easy to navigate but at peak times, it will be difficult to find a place to sit as you await your flight. The security line moved pretty briskly. The bus to city center is easy to find and will run you only 4 , bring exact change to make your transaction more seamless.
A decent airport. For non-Shengen residents the treatment is deplorable, we waited more than an hour in front of the passport control booths until the employees appeared. The tail was halfway up to the airport. Finally, when 3 employees were catapulted and we reached the embankment gate we found that all the waiting space for 4 gates was about 2 dining rooms. Embarrassing!
Short parking space made by some recommended lighting genius, bathrooms with little attention to hygiene, no wireless, very old bus shuttles. The rest can go.
This airport is dog shite. Small, crowded, no organisation and majority of staff are rude and seem to hate customers. Gained a star for the cafe/bar upstairs as staff there was friendly and panini was nice. Credit to them. Other staff should learn a thing or 2 from them. Will still avoid this airport
Dirty, slow baggage claim, poor signage for car rental, had to have the baggage checked again at customs on arrival. As if we want to smuggle something from the expensive CH to Italy.
A crowded dirty airport with disgusting toilet facilities no cleanliness filth everywhere crowded bars and shopping. There is no information in English. Who gives more than two points here .......
Can not understand the negative comments! We were there at peak time (Saturday afternoon). Of course, a lot was going on, but the waiting time was ok and the cleanliness was basically okay.
Airport itself is ok. Everything works. Try not to buy food here, especially not from "Sicilia's". For 5.20 panini with scruffy lettuce and green tomatoes. Employees are absolutely overwhelmed.
Compared to other Italian airports, it is without doubt one of the best. There is also the presence of every type of shop that offers the sale of many Sicilian specialties (potential gifts)
Truly terrible customer service. We had been stranded on the Aeolian islands and missed our flight to the UK. Instead of helping us, they just said "impossible" to everything, without engaging us or looking me in the eye - beyond unhelpful, clearly not going to do their job (ie help customers) and just waiting until we went away. Even if your staff have just looked for the same flights for the previous ten people in the queue, I would expect them to explain that to me, and let me see them check again on their computer, just in case something had come up in the meantime. Luckily, the EasyJet check-in staff did have a look, and they found us places. Then, when we returned to book those seats with you, your staff still informed us that there was "no seats" and it was "impossible". Your staff's rude and unhelpful approach made a difficult experience even more frustrating and stressful.
Upon arrival only one baggage claim was being used for all three flights hat had arrived at the same time despite there being many more empty carousels.
On the way out be ready for a prolonged wait without notice for passport control officers to casually reappear at their booths before continuing to gates 19 -22. (Delaying outgoing flights)
Seats are also limited for elderly and passengers travelling with small children.
Wifi is available for free if you are comfortable login in via Facebook, Google+ or personal phone number.
It's a relatively small airport (only one terminal) with two duty free shops, two cafes and a few clothing/misc shops dotted in between. Arrivals is on the ground floor with departures on the first. For a small airport, it gets pretty busy so do go early as queues can be long and slow. There's free public WiFi as well as charging points.
Airport that would be more modern: the bathrooms before the checks were quite clean, those after the security checks to be refurbished (in the men's one half were out of order). Overall a just enough airport, which could safely grow. Sore, at least for me: three times I went from here, twice I had to throw away the suitcase. The first time my bag went under the wheels of the train that carries the luggage (seen with my eyes from the windows overlooking the track), the second time the suitcase was handed back to me without a handle and a side slip. What can I say ... patience and forward.
Structure of recent construction appreciable for the simple use, the modern and technological architecture, the organization of the spaces, the quality of the shops and restaurants, security checks and nearby car parks. Very convenient for flights within Italy! Excellent services and helpfulness of the staff.
After reading the reviews on the chaos at the Airport, we arrived allowing an extra 2 hours to get through security etc, which we did within 5 minutes, expecting no seating airport had loads of seating available, I went to the toilet expecting to have to queue nobody there walked straight in. Airport was very cool no air conditioning problem . This was 9 am in the morning with 50 flight due out in 2 hours. So the airport was very busy. I have encountered many more problems in uk airports.
X to collect the baggage 40 minutes after arrival, parking prices from rich people, and 6 forced to pay for the long wait for the collection, or this or a fine from police officers who check a private area, in my opinion without having power
In the age of COVID checks, the airport with more disorganization and exaggerated files. A very long coil at security checks ... And only 2 open gates. Without considering the delays at the entrance to the building and at the check-in counters. Go very far in advance
Aeriporto di minghia. Nn sanno ke signifying organization. Troopa coda neu check in. All sporco Shame for Italy. Personal without qualification. Ke dellusione
In a period of covid a total disorganization. Once you arrive, the paddock ordeal begins and the goose game ride to rent a car because there is only one access, queues and endless walks etc. Better to choose a different destination.
There is someone who can help me set up the identity service for information. ... since morning I try to talk to someone but no office responds. ... and shameful and an international airport .... I have no words ...
Well organized airport in the face of the covid19 emergency. Unfortunately, for boarding operations, minibuses were used to reach the aircraft (and not the tunnels, although available) and the distance was not always guaranteed
very organized, flights always on time, shops and restaurants to spend time in, modern and widely used; if you have to leave better go to this spacious and comfortable airport
Queues were not that bad and AC seems to be working. But seems to be too small for the amount of people and if you don't have a longue access (which is good only for the water), you can't refill your water bottle - only with hot water straight from the Mordor.
Queues everywhere, nowhere to sit, virtually no signage, no footpaths to car parks and vat hire, a tiny VIP which manages to be worse than the main terminal.
There is ETNA over there you know if you saw the volcano write it in the comments !!!!! 45 minutes? How can you put all this time Francesco Gumina in it? Eh?
when we arrived, everything was great, especially the baggage claim. On the day of departure, 28.12. we got into a lot of time. 2 1/5 time we had. Unfortunately the check-in took forever at Airberlin. And when we came to control, there were crowds! Definitely a line of 300 meters with 400 people or something. And nothing went ahead. All were in time trouble, pushed forward. Also we had to take a shortcut through the barrier, after we had only 15 minutes to the departure. A real disaster. We had nothing to drink for the plane, no food. Going to the bathroom was not because I did not find any. Allow at least 4 hours for departure.
One of the worst airports! we were traveling 2 families with toddlers ; carrying strollers and hand luggages . To board the aircraft we had to go down the stairs carrying everything with no help. When we tried to explain to one of the crew not only did she offer to help us but acted so rude.
Very important airport for Sicily and all of Southern Italy, but unfortunately here the disservice is sovereign, the plane arrives in the pitch but the lineup does not arrive 10 minutes of waiting, the baggage claim is not joking we landed at 21.50 are 22, 30 the tape still motionless (the flight lasted 1.20 hours) crazy things, and we are not in rush hour. Outside to get out of the parking lot .......... forget it and arm ourselves with holy patience and wait for the events. Unfortunately, what should be an efficient and modern structure turns out to be exactly the opposite. I have been coming to Sicily on average 4-6 times a year for more than 20 years, but with few improvements ..... unfortunately !!!
Awful. Very few places to sit, no actual restaurants or proper cafes (so you end up standing up while eating a slice of pizza or taking a drink to the small general seating area) and a general lack of *useful* shops. Terrible place to spend 2 hours in.
Vincenzo Salvatore Carmelo Francesco Bellini (Italian: [vin t ntso salva to re kar m lo fran t esko bel li ni]; 3 November 1801 23 September 1835) was an Italian opera composer, who was known for his long-flowing melodic lines for which he was named "the Swan of Catania". Many years later, in 1898, Giuseppe Verdi "praised the broad curves of Bellini's melody: 'there are extremely long melodies as no-one else had ever made before'."
Small airport compared to the flow of people passing by! Disorganized and unwilling to work with speed with the sheer number of people to serve that there is..check-in very slow luggage and with mixed queues for different flights..I don't say the mess that is created and the discontent! The only thing that works is the entrance to the customs controls and the speed (fortunately) of the same. There are much better airports.
