A Russian friend of mine for her holidays in Sicily rented a car from this agency. When she arrived in Catania she went to the agency to take the car because of a problem on the card, they prevented him from paying for the helmet insurance in cash. After a few days he punctured a car tire but when I tried to put the spare wheel the car was not equipped with it, so I called the assistance center for roadside assistance, I asked the receptionist if the service was for a fee and after checking the license plate number he said that the service was free. Then when we came to the fontanarossa agency the operator left us stunned telling us that the tow truck was not included and my friend had to pay 150.00 for the service. We were appalled, and felt cheated. First because the operator on the phone had said that the intervention was free and then if in that car they had put the spare wheel all this mess would not have happened.
On a positive note, I would like to say that the staff at the airport are friendly and helpful. The airport is clean, but rather small for the number of passengers it has to process. In the high season you will certainly get long waiting times and chaos. A large part of the car rental is also too far from the main building, while another part of the car rental is located in the hall after arrival. There is a lot of searching in the parking lot of the rental cars because the layout is certainly not orderly and the signage is not.
A few adjustments to the structure, layout and management could make everything run more smoothly.
Poor airport. It is not possible to refill the water bottle. One vending machine with payable water for the entire airport. Poor gastronomic offer. Small and crowded airport.

It's the first hub in South Italy, 80 km from Eloro District. This international airport used by several air companies. From here you can rent a car or a bus for one of the Eloro District town bus stations: Avola, Noto, Rosolini, Pachino, Portopalo di Capopassero

Catania-Fontanarossa airport has been renovated in recent years, looks like an airport equipped with all comforts, is a small airport which, however, makes domestic and international flights, with low cost and non-low cost airlines.

Absolutely underground! Waiting for suitcases on the luggage belt for over half an hour. Some passengers were so angry that they bumped their feet against the partition and scolded loudly. Toilets: men's toilets without pissoires, in the boxes all toilet bowls with torn off toilet seat / lids. In the snack area (the only correct description for it!) Piled dirty dishes and rubbish on all the tables and even on the chairs, so that you couldn't sit down anywhere, even if there were free seats. The staff stood around talking. Haven't seen anything so bad and trashy anywhere in my life. Staff at the security check absolutely unqualified and unfriendly. Had a number of technical devices with me, which I should (as usual) put in the plastic trays provided. However, I was so dominated and driven by a young man that I couldn't unpack all of my equipment. The pocket knife I was taking with me was confiscated even though the blade is almost 5 cm long and not fixed. There has never been a problem with it. Only the blade length was checked occasionally. Boarding was then called for 50 minutes. before departure.
Then stand around in the locked area for up to 15 minutes. before scheduled departure. Departure then took place with 20 minutes. Delay. I travel a lot by plane on business and can say that Catania airport is by far the worst I've experienced so far.
I had sent a report in July 2019 because, following a fall, I needed a doctor, but there were no signs indicating where the medical guard was. I had to ask several people and luckily I found it. Having passed through the airport last week, I noticed that nothing has been installed and no signage is present. Thank you

The escalators are out of service since over a year!! It is not very clean and at the gates it is very crowded.
Very cool is the family fast track for the security control.
At the gate found people with little desire to work who hurriedly said that they had to go and eat. Congratulations to those who select the kind of staff with little professionalism and incompetence to do their job
It s really quite efficient and the staff pleasant .does seem a bit crowded in Airside with not many shops or seating. The toilets need to be kept cleaner with hand gel to avoid the spread of Covid. I ve never had an unpleasant experience but as Airline travel grows after a vaccine is found this Airport will outgrow its demand.very quickly
A strategy for the next decade needs to be sorted now.
Shame on you! It s main Saison! Both man pissoirs are not working. What the hell. And te ladies? That s not human. And everything is to small. No good shopping and to much overpriced. And not enough seats for everybody. No zone to calm down or relax. Worst airport since years!

This Airport gives strange experiences. Many times you get a very good traveling experience, but some times you would be in another place. The main problem is use the bus to reach or leave the airport to Messina.
Efficiency and functionality. Airport with large spaces and numerous comfortable armchairs available to users, standard cleaning including toilets, fast and well-organized security checks.

Catania airport. It is a fairly normal airport, WiFi does not work in all airports, and bars are sometimes below average prices. There is a terminal dedicated to Easyjet flights small enough with a duty free and a bar, however, ok. In general a good experience.
How is it possible in such big airport don't exist smoking room? And flights still delay as normal....
I visited this airport twice in two years and all i can say is that Catania airport s toilets are the worst and dirtiest toilets i have seen in an airport (dirty toilets, no toilet papers, no soap etc.) . They should really work on this!
Terrible organization! Misplaced half of our luggage on the wrong band, luckily the luggage was tagged peculiarly so i was able to spot it before needing to report it at lost and found.
It is true, unfortunately it is possible to enter the airport only 3 hours before the departure of your flight. On the other hand, however, I did not find a queue to enter and even at the security checks the queue flowed well, I believe that confusion is created depending on the time and day of departure.

Airport with the obligatory architectural modernity tips, as usual a little 'displaced by the architectural centerpiece, with insiders (including the authorities) and sometimes excellent business sometimes a little wary. Basic, everything in the norm: nothing to cry extremely as some previous reviews state. Famous symbolic airplane at the roundabout on the entrance road.
Chaos..pure chaos ... starting from the parking lots..all full x top priority at the long stop..the short stop is in the ass..baggage checks..we looked like the beasts loaded on the trucks..chaos of files .. mah! .. dispersed smoking area ... duty free and small and expensive shops .... better the small Comiso is at least quiet in its smallness ...
So the airport is a mess. I've never seen such a mess. The country compensates you for that. Sicily is a dream.
An airport that performs the mere function of taking off aircraft.
I will try to be clearer: poor service, mediocre cleanliness, chaotic environment, total absence of a smoking area in the gate, lack of staff to check in luggage (because I hope that the paper checks should not be done anymore) and for the various services , workers stressed by the multitude of people there, checks retrograde and slow bags because of the few files that can be created, etc ...
In short, for heaven's sake, it is an airport and not a reading room, but at least a minimum support for not disseminating chaos and anarchy should be there.

In spite of the negative reviews that I often read, I personally must confess that I had an absolutely satisfying experience during my stay in Sicily this summer both upon arrival and upon return. At the end of July, we took advantage of the finger with a quick and orderly disembarkation operation, and then headed to the baggage claim. In the meantime I take my daughters to the services which were clean. The luggage arrived almost immediately and for the exit we followed the mandatory indications to regulate pedestrian flows, to reach the parking lot (very convenient with Telepass service). As for the return, the day before I discovered by chance (I was not notified either by the agency on vacation or by the company) that the time of our flight had been moved from 6.30 in the morning to 8.30 (detail not insignificant given the so morning time); wanting to be sure of the confirmation of the flight, I go to the airport (the luck is that I was already in Catania city), where however the security officers prevent me from entering as I do not have a boarding pass, so I present to an employee the my situation and the same promptly gets in touch with an internal manager who confirms the shift in time. I specify that while waiting for a few minutes, the staff promptly had a canine dejection probably left by some distracted traveler right at the airport entrance. This is to dispel the comments of those who consider the security officers ineffective and listless. The next morning, once the car has been parked in one of the convenient parking lots in front of the airport, we say goodbye to my father who absolutely cannot enter, and together with my daughters we go to check in, we do everything very quickly (obviously you notice the minor traffic at the beginning of August departing from Sicily in this particular period), we pass the checks (they peck me a scissors that I forgot in the case, they make me pull it out but, being a rounded tip, I can keep it), we enter the boarding area , let's go back to the (clean) services, have a short breakfast and start using the finger again. On the basis of this experience, which I repeat was absolutely personal, I believe I attribute an excellent rating.
Withdrawal Baggage: all tapes turned off, airplane arrived for 45 minutes and we are all here waiting. But who manages this chifo ????

This small airport at the end is always very comfortable: it is easily reachable by bus from various parts of Sicily, and once inside it is impossible to get lost. Moreover its size could benefit those who arrive late!

The only thing beautiful is that just land and exit you find yourself immersed in a bath of light and heat hardly disappoint the Sicilian climate even in winter. Returning to the airport are very slow to deliver the luggage and if you rent a car is not easy to untangle in the casino signs and often you are wrong. You will never regret if you are reasonable. This place is very soothing. The airport is small in size, yet helps you manage transits well enough. The food is Sicilian, enough said. The crowd can be a concern, yet is not uncommon in Italia. The weather is what strikes you when you first fly down here, how relaxing! The Mediterranean subtropics welcomes you with a beautiful Italian life. Buon Viaggio! Do not forget to have canola and tuna pasta here.
It is small, like some Latin American airports, with the difference, that in the few that I have been I have never encountered crowded, dirty bathrooms and doors that cannot be closed. When I saw him I could not believe it, I hope that at some point he will pay more attention, because it gives a bad impression.

there was literally no one at passport control for departing international flights so everyone was waiting in a line for 30+ minutes just to get their passports stamped
