Whittington hospital like a jail, if you entered, cannot come out soon! My wife has 2:10pm eye appointment, now it's 5:00pm, still waiting to be seen!!! Terrible hospital, this is the 3rd time for appointments, unfortunately we cannot change the appointments to other hospital, l think the fourth world hospitals much better than Whittington hospital!

Fast blood service and xrays which is good... However, I've experienced a bad time at A&E when I was sent home, even though later bloods showed that I was in toxicity, pain and weakness...
Such a poor hospital I came in by ambulance after collapsing and was told I'm wating their time even though I have heart problem. They put me in a waiting room for over 9 hours and then the reception told me they'd cancelled my appointment. Very rude members of staff and terrible staff if this could get 0 stars it would.
Can't believe its taken me this long. I had gastro surgery end of October/'16; the ward was full, so they put me in ITU for the night (had some pain issues, as well). The staff (all of them) are fantastic. Very caring, very good at their jobs, and just very pleasant people. Of all the people I saw over a day and a half, most were from elsewhere abroad. It just drives home how essential the NHS is, and how essential immigration is. Could not have asked for better care; it was brilliant. If I could remember all their names, I'd thank them personally, but there are dozens of lovely people I've seen here.
I've gone private; it IS faster, but both the level of care and bedside manners are sorely lacking. Everything is a transaction.
EDIT: O6/2018. Have just had my gallbladder and a loop of intestine removed. Again, the level of care is truly an indictment on how much the NHS cares and how much they're needed. Though very painful, I don't think I'd have gotten through without the absolutely delightful staff; in particular the nurses. Doctors are fab, albeit very busy, of course. Also, love love love the lady at Day Centre reception. It's nice to have someone so positive when you walk through those doors feeling rather nervous. Great experience again, when it could have easily been terrible.
Our first baby was born in this hospital. The midwives and the doctors did a great job, everyone was super nice and helpful. Special thanks to Catalina who helped deliver our baby.
The most atrocious hospital I have ever been in, in my life! My partner was brought in for a suspected heart attack and they attempted to turn him away even though he was showing all the signs and panicking.
Once we forced them to take him they left him with the machine beeping errors even though there was issues with the pulse finger reader no one checked to see if it was serious, meanwhile I m 32 weeks pregnant made them check it, it never resolved and continued to beep. So if something was seriously wrong with his heart there is no accurate reading and they are not checking. They are immune to the sounds of the machines which is actually petrifying!
He was sick everywhere at 12am they just put some pads over it! He had sick all over himself I cleaned him up and some of the sick on the bed & floor just to get rid of the stench and to give him some decency & I was gagging whilst also sitting here worried beyond belief!
The only help was a male nurse called Telmo who came in and took another ecg Reading and asked if I was ok and changed his fluids! The rest of the staff just ignored us.
The toilets are the most disgusting toilets I have ever witnessed in my whole life anywhere!!!!
I cannot believe that this hospital has not been inspecting or shut down. There are people in the corridors I m so worried I will catch something being pregnant Im extra nervous!
This hospital needs serious inspections ASAP most staff need also reviewing! Nobody cares anymore a life is still a life whether you are underpaid, overworked or under appreciated! I respect how hard the nurses and doctors work however losing your compassion for people means you are in the wrong profession!!
Update- 2:40am after being here for over 2 hours the Telmo the nurse the only nice, friendly or helpful one in here came and cleaned up my husbands room - majors cubicle 4, changed his sheets... He has been the only light for me in this very dark place!
Im still having to walk to different sections to find the cleanest of the filthiest toilets! I m so upset to know that in a medical emergency this is what would we should expect to happen... Something needs to change!
Worst Hospital ever, one year treating my girlfriend like rubbish about her painful issues on her leg and back because they didn't bother to check her in a year and make the right checks ended up going to Poland to a private doctor that diagnosis her with a very bad arthritis condition, people on this hospital deserve to be in Jail and jobless, you are criminals, that's happens when the government cuts NHS you get monkeys instead of propper staff
Longest waiting time ever in the kids section even when not so many patients in sight. Better to go somewhere else as they don't have enough doctors in this hospital. Thumbs down
The staff is very nice and helpful! I went to the A&E and didn t have to wait more than an hour! Also, the GP who visited me was super friendly, listened to me carefully and has been able to come up with an effective treatment! I had a great experience and would definitely recommend the Whittington Hospital.
rushed to A&E and was seen by very friendly and understanding staff. My only criticism is that there are not enough nurses on the wards, but that's not the hospitals fault. Government need to give them more money.
Such a good hospital, waiting times are reasonable, they are meeting most of their targets (unlike most NHS hospitals at the moment). The staff are friendly despite being so busy.
Fantastic Emergency (ambulance) services and great staff - thanks to everyone who helped my wife when she was in extreme pain from dislocating her new hip. I wish I could give you all 10 stars.
I went to A&E on a Saturday afternoon, and although had a longish wait for triage, the rest happened quite quickly after that. I am a patient with complex chronic conditions, and the staff treated me humanely, listened and came up with an effective treatment plan which involved me being 'partly admitted' for a few hours to their Clinical Decision Unit - but I left in late evening, and all staff I encountered from the lovely doctor in my care to the nursing staff, porters and cleaners were all extremely nice. I have been to many A&E's of late, but this has been by far the most positive experience I have had in a long time, and achieved something from it. Well done Whittington!
I spent 5 days with my 2 weeks old son in the pediatric ward in Whittington Hospital and the whole experience left us traumatised for many months ahead. Dr Kerry Robinson was partonising and insensitive. She also said some irrational things about our child's ilness which turned out to be a viral infecton that went away after 3 days. She was scaring us with the most deadly deaseases which our son didn't have even symptoms of. "We know what you don't know that Strep B kills babies" . And she knew that I tested negative for the bactria. Also, I must mention Dr Danielle and student nurse Soharla which contributed to the whole horrific experience. Majority of nurses were very nice though.
Had to go to the urgent care clinic today and both the nurse and the doctor who saw me were excellent, kind and efficient. Could not rate them more highly.
It's the worst hospital have make appointment ever I waiting over 1 hour from my appointment because the doctor took a big break for cigarette I can say nothing else the comments is your
This hospital is very bad especially the 3 guys working 18/9/19 at night shift a and e not helpful laughing at situations talking about there wages in the space of 3 minutes
I came for blood test and ECG scan on a Thursday morning and I gotta say that my experience was great. Quick cues, super friendly and professional staff and very clean environment.
I would like to commend the staff within the children s A & E department where my 9 month old was just seen - initially went to North Midd as it s nearer - but left within 5 mins due to waiting times and lack of attentive staff... Whittington were amazing from triage to seeing the lovely doctor who checked over our son throughly ! He was so caring and polite - thank you Whittington
9 hours in A & E with mum who has dementia. No updates on what was happening with her care no dedicated nurse to speak to and discharged with a canula left in her vein which was discovered 2 days later by her carer. What's to like?
The worst hospital I've ever come across. Sent me home from A&E unable to walk, only to get a couple of minutes down the road and having to call an ambulance, I was then taken back to A&E and after 48 hours in an A&E cubicle I was then admitted. During my stay I received disgusting treatment from the consultant doctor who came did the rounds most mornings, I was accused of lying and over exaggerating my symptoms in front of them. This became such a problem that I recorded her. I was lied to about the type of paracetamol I was prescribed (told it was oral when it was IV which is what I was requesting) until I saw it on their computer. Was told I was 'wasting services' and 'using other patient's medications' as they didn't have some IV pain relief on the ward they "borrowed" it from the neighbouring ward. After this dreadful experience I was diagnosed with a chronic illness from a PROFESSIONAL gynaecologist at the Royal Free. Thanks, Whittington for your assistance(!)
Worst children s UCC EVER! Called 111 and told us an appointment was made, that we should go and they would see our 5 week old baby within 2hrs. Once there they told us they wait was 1-1:30 hrs... not even close, after 2 hrs they told us wait time was 3-4 hrs... nope, after 4 hrs they said wait was 5 hrs... after 5 hrs no sign of anything... we wound up leaving, we will try anothwr place. This is a joke! They could have told us wait time was 5+ hrs from the begining, as it is now we are now looking for were to our newborn checked, after wasting 5hrs...
Staff are doing all they can but the A&E department here is nothing short of intimidating.
As someone who has been going here for years on and off, there are always, always, people with mental health issues ignored/not catered to and regular fights/shouting, either between patients or between patients and doctors. I feel some unruly patients treat this place more like the outside of a McDonald's than a hospital.
The sad fact is you see more police here than medical staff.
The main hospital is somewhat better and I've had some good experiences here, but the sad fact is this:
Like many hospitals throughout the UK, this hospital isn't crumbling, its crumbled.
I do understant that pharmacy is getting refurbished and this is causing a lot of inconvenience, but what is the reason of pharmacy staff is not being efficient at all?Got an item prescribed on a hospital pharmacy only-script,paid the usual More
I am not a regular attendee but Whittington is a brilliant hospital. Joined up service with enthusiastic and welcoming staff. Even with an apparent shortage of support staff they deliver a first class and caring service My wife and I marched to save the old maternity department a few years ago and even at plus 75 years of age we will certainly march again to support Whittington
Me hi I ve been a&e last week and i was diagnosed with bacterial conjunctivitis but the antibiotic eye drops aren t working after 5 days, I think it might be a viral infection
Doctor are you sure it s not just an allergy?
Me no doctor, my eyes are red as hell and swollen up for 5 days and no eye drops or piriton is helping...
Doctor it might still be an allergy. Do you have a lot of dust where you work?
Very disappointed with the service. I required stitches on an open wound, and the nurse did a very messy job, which caused more harm. I went to St Mary's hospital 2 days later and need a re-stitch, who operated with care and quality, . To go through that pain again was unnecessary, if only the nurse from Whittington had done the job right the first time, rather than rushing me.
Majority of the hospital staff I have dealt with at Whittington are friendly, professional and highly observant. There are the usual things you might find issues with (toilets could be a little cleaner, canteen over priced, and shop food has had issues with being mouldy) and the facilities do seem a little old. But It feels as though the money has been spent well on staffing. From the maternity staff, to the children's A&E, I have met many doctors and nurses who make me feel really privileged to have access to the NHS. The staff I rate highly I would personally give 5*, there were just a couple who dealt with my daughter in children's ward who weren't so great and a little rough when checking a drip. But overall much happier to go to this hospital than other neighbouring ones.
For those of you complaining about bad service or long wait times, or a bad pharmacy, you guys clearly haven t been to North Middlesex Hospital..
Yes, it s underfunded and understaffed just like every hospital in our country, but the doctors and nurses are doing the best with what they have and have provided me with a world class service..
I honestly think this is one of the best hospitals in London..
There are only a few staff that is qualified to do the job in phlebotomy sector. The other ones are making you an amazing mark that you had your blood test. The nurse has loose the band when she was pulling the needle out!! I have told her this will broke the vein, and honestly not sure did she understood what I have said or not, but the result is clear in attached picture. Avoid!
I just called the hospital help desk (which you call to rebook or cancel appointment) and the phone operator answered hello ! As though she is answering her personal phone at home! No professionalism, no customer care, very disappointing.
Trying to get through to Department is mainly a miss miss case. You phone and are told 'Sorry due to a large number of calls please leave your number or call back'. You call back and Horray get in the queue right up to ' You are number 1' then low and behold your cut off. Not once but numourous times. You then go through to switch board and through the same process all over again two solid hours and still unable to get through to Endoscopy Department but i will keep trying. Miserable and Dejected
I've been here few times and every time the staff has been very nice and helpful, I felt at ease and reassured. The waiting times can be long, but to be fair I experienced that in every other hospital I've been to.
I really can't fault this hospital. Had amazing care giving birth to my son 4 months ago (both labour and after care help feeding etc.... Not rushed out, own room, really friendly staff) and just recently great care at the a&e when he was running a high fever (this despite it being the Christmas period). Well done to everyone working here. Please keep up the great work!
Awesome doctors and nurses. Really friendly and take the time to explain everything they are doing. My Mum s catchment area is covered by Barnet Hospital (even though she s much closer to Whittington). Barnet Hospital is unfortunately incredibly oversubscribed and overcrowded, and so every time we ve been there with her advanced COPD conditions we ve waited 5 hours to be seen and not been admitted, even though she s needed to be, for a number of reasons. The doctors are so overworked they just want to get you out of the way and don t check all the details properly, and don t explain why they are prescribing what they are. When I ve asked I ve been made to feel as though I m being a nuisance. This time however we were sent to Whittington and I must say the treatment is incredible. They realised the severity of the situation, rushed her through and are being meticulous in their desire to improve her condition. She s been kept in for almost two weeks so far, because she needed to be, and they re not rushing to get her out until they and we are confident she can be. Everyone is friendly and has time to be present and compassionate with us and my Mum really feels looked after. They are an absolute credit to the NHS! Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!
Thank you to the professionals who looked after me yesterday around 1-7pm, particularly Rachel, Grigorios, the student nurse Tigris, and the person who made sure I got something to eat before I moved wards!! Thank you so much for your kindness and attentiveness
I had a very good exprience today at Whittington Hospital. When I limped through the hospital entrance, I was met by volunteer, who insisted on taking me to my trauma clinic appointment in a wheelchair, how sweet was that. All the staff I met today were very nice. Keep up the good work Whittington.
Forget the look and feel, the service here was excellent, initially booked into UCHL for the birth of our first child, UCHL ran out of beds and sent us here. Glad we accepted the transfer. Midwife, doctors and support staff were amazing!
I came with sever chest pain from 5 months and thet don't do nothing! I wait from 5 hours and nothing! How is this possible?!? I can't believe! It's a bad sistem, I die here and nobody cares!
After 6 months waiting the transport didn't bother to come to pick me up even they know i have serious condition due being wheelchair user! They offered me another waiting list appointment but i refused basically i can not see the driver can ring the bell in the future.
Best hospital I have ever been. People annoy me when they judge the hospital on its age rather than the quality of professionalism I agree to certain extents that this hospital needs a massive refurbishment being the oldest one in the world but more importantly old or new I want the hospital to function properly and at Homerton Hospital whilst the building is newer the hospital is not better in any way shape or form and as a whole the Whittington is much better out of the two. I love all the UCLH hospitals except the Royal free because of its employees but the Kings Cross hospital is my 2 favourite but the Whittington comes first place out of every hospital in England so far and is the highest performing one in the UK and London. I love the Whittington well done UCLH brilliant job unlike Homerton and the royal free prisons.
Well..., Mr Ahmad was running two hours behind! My daughter had an appointment time, which seemed totally irrelevant. The nurses kept saying 'it won't be long' to everyone in the waiting room, and then after the two hours' wait, admitted that they had no idea what was going on. During my daughter's appointment, a doctor barged in, went straight to Mr Ahmed and the pair of them discussed a different patient, as if we'd ceased to exist. Five minutes later, the second doctor left. Nada to my daughter and me about the interruption. This was our first visit to the clinic. I am not impressed and do not currently recommend this team at The Whittington Hospital.
I attended the ED department Friday, 28th June with a painful right foot. Nurse Practitioner Rudy examined me and treated me. He was absolutely excellent. He was professional, courteous and friendly. He is an asset to the Whittington Hospital. Fantastic Nurse Practitioner. B. Keeshan
Sent to the wrong dept, then left to sit there while staff wonder why u are there, never even asking. Hospital calls asking, where are you? Messed up on every level and staff have no duty of care, could have just asked why you are sitting there, instead ignore for over 2 hours in pain!! Not happy!!
Extremely upset with the service that s been received from the doctors and nurses at the a&e . Been there several times all they did was to send me home . All I needed was an ediscopy for them to find out why I was so sick for the last 7/8 months . Had to go private hospital at the end and in 2 days they found the reason for my illness. Useless staff in WHITTINGTON hospital, and on top was acting so sure about them . Will definitely take this further and sue the doctors that miss diagnosed my illness and made me loose so many months.
it is the first time that I have an operation in this hospital the doctors are very good I have done a hysteroscopy very kind nurse only the male analyst has made me a little hurt but for the rest the day hospital is gone Bn
Friendly, professional staff helped me get registered and then get three tests done across 3 floors sorted out all within an hour and 15 mins. Had to use some initiative with the waiting system on the 5tth floor but it was super easy. Thanks NHS and thanks Whittington
Recption Really bad My daughter had 40 * Temperature and she was in my hand but they not let me in because my daughter nhs number not in my hand i was ask them let me get her in an than get her nhs number from my car out said but they didn't and start argue with me
I've not felt better cared for (and loved!) in my life since my mum took care of me when ill as a small child and my daughter looked after me after smashing up my arm 12 years ago. Fabulous consultants, doctors and nurses. I couldn't recommend the place enough and I thank them all for my recent expert treatment and considerate care.
I had to go to the a&e today due to accidentally cutting my hand with glass and the bleeding not stopping. I was prepared to wait for hours to be attended but instead was called in quickly. Everything worked amazingly, the x ray was quick and the staff especially were extremely friendly, helpful and positive. They really cared about the patients and the staff seemed extremely supportive of each other. So thankful for the work you do, especially during these pandemic times. Thank you!
Definitely amazing hospital. Great nurses, great comfort, amazing food and experienced doctors. I have been here after my motorcycle accident and they honestly helped me a lot. Thank you all from the heart
First of all receptionist really rude, have more attention to his phone than to help us. Waiting over 4h for have a look from doctor. They calling one person (who left already) one time, going back somewhere, dissapear for 15min, coming back again calling for the same person and another time. Another lady coming again for calling same person. Terrible organisation... They don t care how long people are waiting... During the time they were calling people who are not there, they could help many other people waiting there...
Had such a great experience in the ER. Friendly helpful staff. Really amazing admirable people. Literally can't big them up enough. Made me feel really relaxed and taken care of.
Apart from the one male Nurse called Andreas at A&E, rest of the staffs and the doctor who attended my father were pretty rude. I'm well aware of the fact that NHS is understaffed and underfunded but how about just treat people with bit more dignity?
