Lovely staff - knowing the pressure they're working under, I for one applaud them. These are the real heroes in society, not these brainless celebrities were constantly having rammed down our throats. Long live the NHS!!

I know it's been four years, but I want to tell about the disgusting experience I had in this hospital!
This is the most horrible and unprofessional hospital I've ever been in my life! Four years ago I lived in Archway and I went at least 4 times to this hospital, because I had symptoms that always brought me to faint, nausea, strong dizziness and I was constantly losing consciousness,
and they failed to diagnose the cause of my symptoms, because incompetent doctors and nurses couldn't understand me!
The worst thing that happened to me, I fainted in front of the doctors, they thought that I was acting or I was a drug addict, instead of putting me on the stretcher, they left me on the floor and laughed!
I have never used drugs in my life, and the questions they asked me, I considered them offensive!
What a horrible way to treat patients, if I had wounds or blood coming out of my body, it was fine for them, but if you're having severe symptoms coming from your head no!
English was not my first language, but if they were competent they could ask me for an interpret!
Now I know my rights, and the next time If I will go to another hospital and I will receive the same disgusting treatment, I will sue them!

Very poor service. Came with abdominal pain , which was cruicial at home with no ability to move at all. I took some painkillers at home . By the time I was seen by doctor GP in Emmergency department my pain became to be dull. I have been given pain killers and was advised to be seen by GP. No investigations, blood tests, nothing. Telling off to the patients in such as ignorant manner made me very upset. I will go to GP and he will say that I have no any symptoms to be related to. Pain was caused due to some reason. So why not to find what the problem is when you are in pain?!
Also I was prescribed the medication which I am allergic to. I needed to come back to the A&E to change it.
I will never go to Whittington hospital again.

went in one a Sunday night at 10:30pm as my brother was having a serious asthma attack. The nurses and doctor we eventually saw were helpful and knowledgeble. However, the receptionists were ignorant and rude. Really disappointed that the two people behind reception were sat talking about their contents insurance, whilst we stood waiting to be seen. The conversation carried on for 2 minutes whilst we waited to be seen by the receptionist, who then looked directly at us, then resumed the conversation for a further minute. Disappointing that people on the front desk are undermining the hard work and effort the doctors and nurses working those shifts put in

Nurses and doctors and so unprofessional. Hardly doing any work. There was two cubicles free in the A&E department and my mother had to wait over two hours for a bed. It was hardly busy. I asked the nurse how long the wait will be and she got extremely rude. Her name is Lilliana. Worst hospital by far in London
Another nurse called Jovic

Difficult to get through to departments on the phone in my experience. The treatment by the different departments is good and the staff are typically helpful and kind. The wait times can be a bit lengthy, particularly in the pharmacy.

Staff, care etc given to patients is amazing, only problem which l am going to complain about is the temperature of the-rooms on the Mercer ward, also where the MRI scanners are located, the hallway is so cold and this was November 2020. I was so cold and eventually after 3 days was given an electric heater, the shower room can t wait to get out, l go in white and come out pink. Changes need to be made as hospitals should be at least 18c - 21c. If l had to come in Dec, Jan, Feb or March l would have to leave the next day. Been here a week and must voice my opinion to The Ward Manager with a complaint form and keep updated with the process or l go to the Islington Gazette. If l was staff l would complain too

I am so impressed. They saw to me straight away and put me through loads of tests to find the cause of my problem. All the time they were polite, reassuring, professional and friendly.

Someone form my family was waiting a long time for an appointment. Because of COViD-19 it was moved to another 4 months later.
Did confirmed a week before the appointment that it will take a place and been instructed to attend. Took day off at work and once attended to the clinic, receptionist said it will be telephone consultation - no one ever called since. Once contacted with department next day, the receptionist said he have to contact GP to refer himself again. Very, very disappointing causing stress and problems.

I had a hip replacement at the beginning of December. Because of a neck problem I also have there was some concern about the first part of the general anaesthetic and I had to have an awake intubation. From the initial meeting with the surgeon, Mr Bartlett, to the day of the operation and the care taken by the anaesthetist, Mr Dunstan, I felt very re-assured. Post op, the staff on Thorogood Ward were excellent as were the physiotherapists, and the follow up visit to my home by the District Nurse was both efficient and skilful. The overall teamwork was wonderful.
The operation went very well and four months on I am walking well with no pain. Many thanks to everyone. I've always known the Whittington was good because of attending the rheumatology dept over many years - and the superb Professor Dacre . My hip replacement experience has only re-enforced and extended this longstanding view.

Extremely understaffed, inefficient hospital. Got to the Emergency Dept with a wry neck, meaning that my head is tilted sideways and frozen in that position, with really bad pain if I try to move. Had to wait for 5 hours before a Doctor saw me, and no tests, nothing, was given a prescription for pain medication. 5 hours for this. I also asked for pain medication during the 5 hour wait, took them 2 hours to give me 2 tablets.

Pharmacy is again a disaster, handed in prescription for 2 kinds of pills, was given a token number(8 people ahead of me) and asked to wait. 40 minutes in, and only one person in front of me has received their medicine. Absolute rubbish.

I recently went to the emergency department at Whittington hospital, and the conditions were so disgusting I did not want to lay down on the bed, I saw dry blood stains on the bed which is pretty dangerous, as it could of been contaminated with an infectious disease. It was dusty everywhere on the floor and on the shelves. When I asked the doctor he said that they were trying their best but I did not see 1 cleaning staff there so are they really trying their best. This is completely unacceptable conditions for 21st century. I did not feel safe at all !!!!!

I have been in and out of here as an outpatient over the last few months. Recently a visitor to the day surgery department.

It s easy to knock the NHS and yes things don t always go smoothly or to the time lines agreed. You have to go with the flow and understand that there maybe someone out there who s need is greater than yours at any given time. The system is at breaking point but that s not the fault of the staff doing their best.

The service here hasn t always been the slickest but the staff are the friendliest bunch and professional beyond belief. Taking their time to explain things, listen to any concerns and ultimately treat you with a smile, dignity and professionalism.

A huge thanks to everyone involved in my care.

Ambulatory service: I have been back and fourth to this hospital a lot the last few weeks and the level of care I have received has been wonderful. The checks have been thoroughly done and I have been treated as a person and not a patient.

The staff have kept me in the loop with my results and have been attentive to my needs and symptoms. I am very satisfied with this hospital and I admire the great work these NHS staff provide.

My mother went into hospital on Tuesday 27 December. She was in Casualty, then Mary Seacole South Ward and then transferred to Cavell ward. I cannot thank all the staff enough for the care and kindness given to her and the help, information and understanding I received. My mum is 94 and has advanced Alzheimer's so communication can be problematic but that didn't faze anyone. Thank you to you all - you're marvellous and god bless the NHS! Hope you're listening Theresa!

I attended A&E yesterday morning with a terrible headache and swollen glands. So bad I got out of bed at 4am and went to the hospital.
I was finally seen by a Dr who felt my head and neck, told me my glands were swollen, yet still concluded I had a migraine and prescribed pain killers. When I said I d had migraines before and this definitely was not one I was told that there isn t a magic test for headaches . I should take pain killers and if in 3-4 days the pain is still there, see my GP.
Still in severe pain this evening I attended the Royal Free A&E, the Dr also felt my head and neck but went an extra step and looked inside my ears and at the back of my throat. My inner ear was so swollen the otoscope wouldn t go in, my throat was also inflamed (though not painful). I was therefore correctly diagnosed with a viral ear infection and prescribed ear drops because the Dr simply took the extra 30 seconds to look inside my ear.

Whittington A&E have failed me once again.

I would like to say a huge thanks to the Whittington Hospital's ED team. I visited this hospital early this March, after countless health checks from my GPs, both here and abroad. In the last few years I've been coping with dull chest pain, but none of the doctors I've visited previously was able to find the source of this very unpleasant condition. Although Miss Parisa J. and the rest of the team did the usual heart related standard checks, like the ECG, this amazing lady suggested that sometimes acid reflux can cause symptoms I had. After a month of Lansoprazole therapy and some changes in my diet (like no beer, coffee and chocolate), I now have a pain free live. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart.

Worst hospital I have ever been to, smells filthy and stuffy as soon as you walk in, dark, gloomy. Toilets were a mess I used the one on 4th floor, it had diarrea stains around it, toilet tissue and pads falling out of bins, urine everywhere. It looked like it hadn t been cleaned for weeks, dirt and water marks on walls and floor. Totally disgusting. On the 1st floor no different dark marks all over floor and dirty. Clearly they are not keeping the hospital as they should. Waited over an hr to be seen by the Gastroenterologist which was not worth it at all. First thing he asked was what are you hoping for me to do for you as I don t know why your go referred you here . Completely dismissive and uninterested, looked annoyed at my questions, felt uncomfortable the whole time. He asked me to book myself in for a test at reception , when I go they send me to the first floors reception, go there and they had no clue what where to send me even having the letter from the Dr in front of them so they dispatched me to the 3rd floors reception. Receptionist rude as usual! Terrible experience.

This hospital is Awful and Dr Duncan Carmichal should be fired. I was left begging for a doctor for 12 hours. Crying and screaming with no response from nursing staff because he had decided the previous day that my condition was 'normal'. I was in so much pain that i begged them to take my ovary out. My partner had to come to take me to a different hospital in the end. I had Ovarian hyoerstimulation due to IVF treatment and Dr Carmical laughed it off saying it would clear up on its own and refused to revist me in the ward. I begged to see him when my condition got worse and worse over a period of 3 days. To the point where no pain meds were working and I could no longer urinate. They also left me devastated by telling me that I was no longer pregnant after being informed the day before that I was pregant. On the third day I begged for them to do another pregnancy test as I was so upset and they refused. I pleaded with them as i couldn't understand how it went from positive to negative so quickly. My partner went out to the shop and bought a test. Turns out that it was pregant. We left the hospital at this point and went else where. I believe they knew they messed up when they told me that id lost the pregnancy. I was utterly distraught. There was a complete lack of compassion. I fully intend to make a formal complaint.

Our young son was brought into A&E with a broken leg. The ambulance had called ahead and there was a team of 12 staff waiting for him on arrival. The care was fantastic. He was in agony and was handled with great compassionate. As parents we were kept informed at all stages, which was reassuring.
He was later transferred to a children's ward where he stayed for a week. Again the care was fantastic - from the paediatric to orthopaedic doctors and consultants, anaesthetists and pain management teams, nursing staff, play centre workers, physio and the porters. Thank god for the NHS - the Whittington is a shining example in our opinion.

The level of care provided by this hospital is appalling! I have waited over a year since my last appointment to hear from them regarding treatment for a chronic spinal disorder, this is despite chasing for information on numerous occasions and experiencimg pain on a daily basis. In the meantime my condition has deteriorated significantly and on occasions I struggle to walk. I was referred to them in February 2016 yet my condition remains unchanged and untreated. I complained to the PALS service in March 2017 because they had failed to provide any treatment in over a year. I was reassured that I would be treated and that the service provided would improve. It has not. I can only conclude that the reason that they have, in reality, decide not to treat me is because I had previously complained. I have lost all confidence in this institution and the care it provides and am taking advice on commencing legal action. If possible avoid this hospital if you can. If, like me, you have suffered poor treatment at the hands of this hospital you too should consider suing.

They literally left my hand disabled thanks to ray and the doctor that was working on my case, I attended the morning fracture clinic and I had a hand injury where I had metacarpal injury which I think heeled fine and a tiny fracture in my little finger however I wasn t concerned with them, I was concerned about injurying my hamate bone which they lacked the knowledge of taking care of, I need a cat scan for that hand but they didn t do it because the doctor was just trying to quickly deal with me and get rid of me without even examining my hand properly.. Very bad experience, don t wish it upon my worst enemy..

Most horrid A&E department I have ever seen in U...

Most horrid A&E department I have ever seen in UK! Shame on management of this hospital ! They should employ more staff members .
We arrived by ambulance to A&E. They have a huge chaos there , no air at all . I was with a patient and could pass out myself because there was no air at all , it s stuffy , dirty ! Not enough nurses . I brought 83 y.o. woman . We had to wait for painkiller for 1.5 hour ! I had ask 100 times , they ignored all . It s a slow lazy department , very weird system . I guess they have zero management ,not enough staff but at least to employ cleaners is very easy ! It s dirty , stuffy E&A department . It s feels like we been in hell. Also very unsafe ! I could walk around and do what I want in that department. No safety at all. Its actually scary that anyone can do what they ant there, everything exposed to public. I should have made a video and sent it to their management !
But as soon as they transferred us to a CDU ( clinical decision unit) next door , the nurses there are amazing ...very professional , very attentive ! Amazing difference of quality of staff just a door away.
Then we had visited two days on a row in ambulatory care, which is also a chaos ! I brought her back to have antibiotics injections that were prescribed. She was in agony and pain with temperature waiting over 4 hours to get treatment ! during that time no one cared that she had temperature or measured it . Absolute disgrace , no words can explain that horrid hospital

Regarding the maternity service, all reception staff and flabotamiats are incredibly rude and dismissive of patients. The nurses and midwives however are lovely, sweet and genuinely caring. I wouldn't recommend choosing the Whittington to give birth in as no one should have to tolerate that lack of dignity, especially not a sensitive pregnant lady.
