The kids loved the snow tubing and skiing with my husband. The resort has free wifi so I spent my time indoors (where it was warm) catching up on emails and watching over our 18 months old. The food court has something for everyone and the service is great.

Snow base was good, a little icy in the afternoon.
A bunch of trails offering different levels of expertise. Snoboard course had some neat jumps.
Lift lines move pretty quickly. It was a sunny but cold day- lot of folks, but lines maybe took 5 minutes to chair at max. A lot of classes going on-instructors seemed very patient.
the lodge is like a small village that can fulfill all your needs, at a bit of a captives price.$3 for a bottle of water that you can get a case in the grocery store for the same price? $1.50 will still give you nice profit bump, guys!
Food is decent, again a little high, but sustaining.
Staff is young, but most we're friendly and accommodating.
Definitely a good spot to take the family.

Being from the West coast, this isn't really a mountain, it's more of a hill. Nonetheless, my wife and I haven't found a better beginner place over here for snowboarding or skiing. The staff is very kind, the instructors are knowledgeable, and the snow is decent. If you do go, make sure to bring food as the prices of buying food there are outrageous. Overall good place.

Next closest ski resort to DC after Liberty mountain. It's a couple minutes of extra driving, but the mountain has more interesting trails than Liberty. The best part about this mountain is that all trails converge in 1 place, so you don't have to go around to the other side of the mountain to get to different ski lifts. The resort itself is pretty nice.

Another fun day at whitetail! Well staffed with young friendly people. Quick lunch line at the pizza place. We spent quite a bit of our pass in line though - equipment rentals and lift lines. This was on a busy weekend with great conditions so that probably explains it. An off-site rental building might help.

Great place to learn! Staff are friendly and the place is well kept. I will return next season. My first ski resort experience so I can't give a full five stars as I have nothing to compare it to.

Not a bad little resort. Only an hour and a half drive from DC. Perfect for a day trip! Prices are on the steep side but then again, its a ski resort. There are no lodging facilities in the resort or near-by. Have to drive about 15-20 mins to find plenty of hotels. Good kiddie slopes with shallow angles, excellent to learn on. There is also a box at the bottom of the shallowest green run in case you want to learn to ride boxes/rails. Terrain park is pretty good with plenty of jumps, rails and tubes to slide on. Ski shop has everything you might of forgotten, sales are frequent, especially towards the end of the season. Overall, good resort with plenty of runs for everyone and all abilities!!

All the runs were open, along with the lifts and parks. The park was a little crowded with little setup to each feature. The more popular runs turned to ice, but to be fair I went there at night.

I visited from Miami and enjoyed my time at the resort. Everyone was very friendly and my girlfriend enjoyed her first time skiing. The instructors and staff are great and I'm definitely coming back.

Revised score down from 4 stars: today was fantastic, perfect ski day and the folks there are great.
The bad surprise is that they just announced the pricing for next year. For somebody with kids like me, it implies a 250% increase - no more family packages, no more advantage card.
After 6 years bringing family and friends, I guess it is time to drive a bit longer and find other spots, shame...

It s the best of the three ski areas close to DC and Baltimore. Whitetail has the best layout, the most vertical, and the best number of trails. The terrain served by the Expert s Choice quad is usually less busy. They like to keep Exhibition bumped up. Bold Decision has the best steep terrain of the three local resorts as it s actually steep for the majority of the run. The Whitetail Express quad serves 4.5 trails which seems to be enough to keep them from getting too crowded. The terrain park has a very small half pipe. The EZ Rider quad seems to always have the longest lines but it keeps the newbies somewhat isolated, which is good for everyone.

It s obviously no comparison to larger mountains out west or in the New England region. But for what it is it s pretty nice. You can definitely enjoy 2-3 hours, ideally early before the crowds come.

Well-maintained trails despite lack of real snow. Super friendly staff and instructors are usually good (sometimes aren't as good at pacing large classes). Food is decent and fairly priced though drinks are expensive. Good trails for novices and experts, but not a good trail for people making it off the bunny slopes onto their first green slope.

It is an unpredictable place, suitable for the whole family. I recommend arriving early, before 11 so that there are not so many people

You have to wear comfortable and water resistant clothes of preference or a change if you do not have snow clothes, snow boots are not 100% necessary but it is definitely a very good option to wear them.

They have a place to eat and a restaurant, bathrooms and lots of fun.

The tubings can be for one or two people and you can even throw four of them by tying them together before getting off. A girl pulls you and the fun begins. I highly recommend it!

This is an excellent local ski hill for residents of Washington, DC. It's close to the city and offers skiers a diverse set of runs from the easiest bunny hill to the most difficult double black diamond. The high speed quad chairlift moves skiers up the mountain very quickly, minimizing wait times. The $79 price for a daily lift ticket is too much.

A good ski resort with varied skill slopes (5) for beginner and intermediate skiers and snow boarders. They could sort of advertise about medical facilities nearby and on site to inspire a little more confidence in parents.

The lines are short during the week. Most of the runs were well maintained but some got icy. Skiing decreased in quality as the runs got chewed up during the course of the day. Terrain parks are located on many runs reducing congestion and allowing new people the ability to try things with out holding up other people.

Shih very wonderful and Weswa Alderb and the people and very very distinguished by dealing and help and restaurants exist but prefer to eat before you go and the bathrooms are very good eating somewhat expensive Shui deserves the place and if the evaluation of more than five stars gift and a training for me to go to him the first time

Best resort in terms of terrain compared with Roundtop and Liberty, but it is the most crowded and chaotic. The lounge area never seems to have room for lunch or gear. This is why I prefer Roundtop.

I mean, you're just not going to find a lot of ski places in the area, so it just gets some love for existing.

The runs are fun. The lifts are good. The staff is generally friendly. The food... meh. But let's be honest, youre not coming here for the best meal you've ever had.

When buying the lift tickets, everything was going...

When buying the lift tickets, everything was going smoothly and the cashier even told me about a package and saved me three dollars; that is, until I handed her the money.
(background note, I always carry crisp money with me and specifically ask for it at the bank)
Upon taking it, she made an assumption probably based upon my age and judgementally and rudely said "I'm thinking you were in your dorm or room this morning making this money, it's too crisp", however, I calmly told her I withdrew it from the bank earlier. She tested the bills - not to my surprise, they all were legit.
All the other staff I interacted with were incredibly helpful and polite.

The slopes were fun and posed different level challenges, so there's plenty fun to be had.

Great place on the east side. A bit small. They don't groom the hills other than in the morning so it is best to go in the morning. They just started selling beer and wine which was so nice for lunch. It is only provided in the restaurant

Fun but wish there were a few more winding trails instead of straight shot ones. Has a good new skier area. The class I took was one of the better ones. Learned more here than at the other two resorts I've been too.

My wife thought their blues were a bit more steep than other resorts in the area. Overall we enjoyed this resort.

Disclaimer: when you buy a lift pass and rent equipment you are basically paying money to spend lift ticket time in like at the rental lodge usually taking 30-45 minuets out of your lift ticket.

A nice resort for a great get away. A very beautiful mountain to ski upon. Me personally I love the snow tubing. Very thrilling. The staff here is very helpful, friendly and courteous. Whitetail also isn t just for the winter time. They host all kinds of activities around the summer and it s worth seeing with kids and families of any ages. The view off the mountain is wonderful. A must for any skiers.

Decent location, only 1.5 hr from Baltimore. Staff were friendly and layout of buildings, parking was nice. The wait time for lift was a bit long (20 min) which wouldn't have been too bad but the runs were fairly short (like easy 10 min to get down) so it felt like most of your time was spent in line. Food in restaurant was fairly expensive ($4 drip coffee). All in all considering location would likely return.
