Various food options, including late-night availability at the food court. Decent run coverage for so early in the season. Not too crowded, and a great college student deal. For the price and the situation, a great bargain!

We came here on New Year's Eve! We didn't take part in the celebrations and instead decided to ski when the clock stuck midnight! I had only gone skiing as a kid and I was with a first time skier so we both got the beginners package for $80 each. It includes lessons, lift tickets for the smaller hill and equipment rentals. A great deal!

For some reason I thought that we could just get on the "magic carpet" lift and ski down the small hill without the lesson, it didn't end well. So we patiently waited for the lesson to start up. The lessons were great and the instructors made sure nobody got left behind.

It rained! And there was lighting! But it only lasted about an hour and we were back to skiing. I had never skied at night before and this was an amazing experience. However there were not many options for food.

The resort was good the ticket prices for the lifts we're okay and the only thing that wasn't that great at all was the prices of the food and the drinks. If they wasn't so high you would stay there all day. For example a cup of coffee $4 a bottle of Gatorade 4 to $5 and a ham sandwich ten bucks ridiculous so ridiculous, and I'm not going to really comment on the pizza. Okay I will a small personal size pizza $19 come on.

We visited the snow tubing resort at Whitetail. I recommend you do not go during peak times because the line to slide again can get pretty long. The kids slide is a joke. You have to push your child the whole way. The cabin is a good size with plenty of seats but the bathrooms are small. They were clean though.

Omg!! This place is amazing, I was living in Virginia for 3years now and didn't get to check this place... This is amazing for first timers and pro skiers, but be sure to come early to find quick parking or you are screwed on the busy day, you'll end up going marry go round in the Parking lot while your loved ones ski round the hill

My wife was a beginner who could barely make it down a bunny slope two weeks before our visit to whitetail. She feared skiing. We came to whitetail for her to learn and they offered her the mountain pass deal. They didn't say you MUST take a lesson or you are disqualified from it. The signs don't say you must either. I'm sorry she got comfortable enough to feel like she could handle the bunny slopes without YOUR help while waiting on a lesson to start! And I'm sorry you felt we were lying or something when we tried to get the mountain pass for her! I'm sorry you are so paranoid and rude to a beginner who picked up on the sport! We never want to use your crappy slopes or ridiculous lifts that stop a half dozen times each time! Not to mention after waiting in long lines with no organizer personnel. This wasn't even peak season people. Save your money for real mointains fellow readers! Guest service workers were rude, unforgiving, and non sympathetic to our situation. The older lady and Lance are not fit for customer service!

Close to DC so the weekends are a mess. Midweek ski is best.Conditions vary with weather but snowmaking is adequate. Staff, while friendly, is often undertrained and overworked. Its not Vail but if you like 1 min runs and 20 min. liftlines this is the place for you. Don't forget your wallet.

The kiddie slopes are worthless..the cost should actually be FREE! The bigger slopes are decent.. however if they are crowed, you might get to go down 8 to 10 times in a hour.. the prices for coffee and hot chocolate are unreal for the quality..food is about the same..pizza is 5.19 a slice..

Snow tubing: Great fun for kids and family. Had fun snow tubing with friends. Go solo or connect multiple tubes. There s an escalator that takes you back up. If you live close by, it s good getaway for the day. You get 2 hours of snow tubing for the standard price. You could probably add more, but 2 hours were enough for us.

Great mountain. It is not huge, and the difficulty of the slopes is not super advanced. But it is a really pleasant place to ski. Friendly staff. Well maintained runs that are just nice. And super convenient. We've been coming for years. Our kids grew up skiing here. It's small enough that they can ski unsupervised, and own the place. Great place.

From a skiing aspect this was an awesome place to ski. Challenging runs, good lengths, great lift staff, free ski storage when on break. Will be coming back. Probably the best slopes in the general area.

I've been to Whitetail a few times this season. I got the "First class learn to ski or snowboard" It was a pretty good deal and I liked the instructor. After the lesson they gave us tickets to buy the mountain pass if we wanted to. Good for couple weeks, I got it for $55 and it came with a free rental/lift ticket ($100ish) It also came with free lessons for the season and 40% off rentals/lift tickets for the season.

Last time I went I injured myself after just one run (I have a bum knee and forgot to wear my brace). The snow patrol saw me hobbling with my board and took me to the clinic to get checked out. They freely offered either a half day voucher, if I wanted to rest a couple hours and go back out the rest of the time, or a full voucher if I was done. I left my rental at the clinic and they said to just come back and let them know which I wanted to do. I ended up not being able to go back out, but I hung out at the Starbucks and a Whitetail employee stopped by a couple times with a magazine and checked if I needed anything. I went back to the clinic who called guest services, who gave me a full voucher for my 8 hour rental and lift ticket, good for a year.

Overall the staff has always been cheerfully helpful. I would recommend going early on the weekend as it gets busy. Mid-morning the line for tickets was extremely long. I went in the evening once during the week and it wasn't too busy. It does get icier as the snow gets scrapped off during the day though.

Celebrated my 30th birthday there and I had a blast. That weekend I was able to do something with the fam and then something with just my husband because they have child care there. Amazing first time experience. We plan to go again.

Wayyy understaffed. Snowpark wasn't open, but it was completely covered in fresh powder.
The resort entrance wasn't properly plowed...cars getting stuck.
BAIT AND SWITCH...the lift pass with the class doesn't apply to anything but Velvet trail. This was NOT on the website.
Whitetail used to be a well oiled machine. Whoever staffs it now is dropping the ball.

The best skiing close to DC. About 1.5 hr drive with a decent mix of trail difficulties. The lack of cold weather and natural snow has been rough so far this year but they have done an amazing job making and grooming snow given the circumstances. Excellent ski school and multi week kids program also. Lines for green and blue lifts can get a little long on holiday weekends but still move decently. If you get over to the blacks there is rarely a line.

Took my three kids that included a special needs child who is in a wheelchair and does not speak tubing today. All of my kids had an absolute blast. I was AMAZED by the accommodations the workers made for my special needs daughter. I wheeled Julia to get her tube in a jogging stroller. The workers that were distributing the tubes allowed me to keep Julia's stroller with them in the tube area which made exiting the slope very easy. I was then able to keep Julia in the tube for the entire time I was there. When I got to the magic carpet the worker at the bottom ensured I had Julia's tube on properly so she would be carried up the hill by the system. The worker at the top of the hill assisted me in getting Julia off the Magic Carpet and onto the snow for the 2 hours we were tubing. The workers at the bottom of the Magic Carpet and the top had a smile on they're faces each time we saw them. We will definitely be returning again soon.

What a waste of a good hill. Poor customer service, overcrowded, horrible food, high ticket prices, and rarely gets any good snow. No Apres Ski either (except in the parking lot). haha

The only reason it's still open is because it's close to Bmore and DC.

We love going to Whitetail. 50% more vertical than the other local ski slopes and the only one with a power lift. We usually ski at night on a weekend, so conditions usually aren't terrific by the time we arrive, but fun anyway.

My son was crying because he fell, his boots were WAY too tight he was having a hard time, We left the class 10 minutes early and I helped him back to the lodge. I helped him into the student/staff area and was told by a panicked staff member that I had to leave immediately because parents weren't allowed back there. I said this is my son and they called security on me. What exactly is going on back there that I am not allowed to stay with my weeping son who is in pain? Deliberately separating me from my child and not allowing me to see him is considered kidnapping. The front desk staff were sickly sweet like automatons, which screams receptionist, not experienced professional. No one was considerate to my crying child. I will NOT return.
