I ve stayed at this Westin several times, but this time has cured me of that. A group of us booked three rooms MONTHS in advance for a bachelorette party. We paid in advance and had everything scheduled and confirmed. When we arrived they did not have record of our reservation and could not verify even based on the confirmation number. Finally, after about a half hour of checking and rechecking they were able to pull our reservation up. Ok no big deal we thought at least we are good to go from here. Not so fast, we had several issues with keys not working, to the point where the bellhop had to escort us to our rooms because their system wouldn t recognize our keys to our rooms. They could not explain this to us and their solution was find a maid to let you in later. That s a little unnerving that a maid is just going to let us in a room based on our say so. Oh well whatever we chalked it up to a tiny misadventure and still had a lovely time walking to the quarter. A week later I received a bill for over 700 dollars. Remember we had already paid in advance. I called to see what was going on and was informed we never paid for the rooms. It then took nearly two weeks for them to refund my money after I provided proof that they had already received all their money. Honestly, disappointed.
Excellent NOLA property. Friendly staff, beautiful views of the city and convenient location to shopping and French Quarter.
Hotel itself was clean and above the norm. Somewhat plain in the room, but bed and pillows were way above the norm. Restaurant could have been a lot better. Food was decent, but refused to make frozen daiquiris in the peak of the summer. My worst complaint is the fact I wasn't told I had to pay $90 for parking for 42 hours of parking. I was shocked. Live in NYC for 3 years and thought they were high.
Just spent the weekend at the Westin and had valet return our car with glovebox and console wide open clearly indicating the car had been ransacked. When we open the rear of SUV it had been pulled apart and our belongings gone
The car had no signs of being broken into and it became obvious the car had been parked by valet and left unlocked.
We are from Australia and we lost all of our shopping throughout our trip across US along with documents.
The response from Westin Security was we will be in touch in 3 to 5 days.
The
New Orleans police attended and were helpful and fingerprinted our car, but Westins response to losing over $2000 worth of belongings due to valet not locking our car is just appalling. Guests beware Valet will park your car in a public lot and not bother to lock it!!!!
Great location but the hotel needs some work.Arrived to our room with no AC working and the AC panel removed.Called for maintenance and the guy was great, fixed it and left.We had the same problem the next day. They replaced the condenser. For the price of this hotel this should not be happening.
It is a nice hotel, I like the pool is not so cool and not so short that pleases me a lot, I like it too much, the rooms are very clean, the receptionist was very kind to you, the decoration of the room is quite nice
Nice views. The lobby is being remodeled so checkin was outside the restaurant and bar on the 11th floor.
Front desk friendly & very professional!! Housekeeping wasn't loud talking early in the AM & friendly also. Will most differently be staying again!! Conveniently close to everything in walking distance including the Theater & The high end shopping mall in the hotel
As I am sitting here waiting for my room service order, I thought I'd write a review. They told me it would be 30 minutes. An hour later I called and they said it would be right up. 20 minutes later still nothing. Horrible service absolutely do not recommend.
ETA: They never did delivery it. I finally called at like 2am and told them not to bother. Crazy!
Was charged an additional $450 and was unable to discuss the charge with anyone. I was transferred to the accounting managers voice mail several times with out any return call. I will have to go through my credit card company to dispute the charges. Very frustrating.
Requested for house keeping twice, didnt happen and the housekeeping team claimed they did. Did not expect this kind of standard from westin. Wow!
My husband and I are locals, and because we could not take time off from work to do a true vacation, we decided to do a two-night staycation in the French Quarter.
The Westin was nicely appointed and clean. What limited exposure we had with the staff was pleasant.
Our room had two double beds which were hard, sagging, and left us both sore from head to toe after the first night. We are 29 and 39 respectively and with no health issues, so it really was the beds and not us.
We so badly wanted to avoid the torture of a second night that we forfeited our stay and checked out around midnight to go home where we knew we could sleep in a decent bed.
As moderate travelers who have stayed in facilities ranging from the sketchiest roadside motels to five-star resorts, and at $179 a night, our expectations were higher for the Westin. Clearly our expectations were misplaced.
Was able to check in early and check out late at no extra charge! Staff was very friendly and helpful! Rooms were very clean! Can't wait to go back!
An aging hotel but still quite comfortable, especially those beds and the shower. Gotta love those towels too! . It's good if you're trying to get as close as possible to the river (and noisy trains and steamboat whistles).
The actual hotel sits 11 floors above a parking garage, so you have to take two separate elevators to get to your room, but they were pretty quick.
Very nice rooms, great staff and conveniently located. Good views as well. Comfy bed
The location is wonderful for anyone who wants to be close to everything. The views, if you have one, are amazing from the rooms. There are also several nice amenities including a rain shower and a well stocked gym. Service is quick and effective.
Comfy spacious room, excellent and helpful front desk staff. Great location. Within walking distance to all local attractions
Great hotel walking distance from the quarter don't let him promise you a rollaway bed because there aren't any
We are always treated like stars here :) even gave my little dude a Weston doggy bed!
I had stayed here multiple times before however my most recent stay in March was so bad that I won t be returning. First I had two live cockroaches walking through the bathroom and then when I took a shower there was no hot water and then when I went for a towel the towel was stained with what appeared to be makeup. I got a refund and went down the block to the Marriott.
The rooms were nothing out of the ordinarybut the view was wonderful. The location is great and the staff was very friendly.
The lobby on the 11th floor is rather impressive. The suite was clearly a meeting room, maybe something that a wedding party might use to get ready but it had me scratching my head as there was only a large table and a television. No sofas or coffee tables.
The staff was attentive but the breakfast (SPG in lieu of points) was in a ballroom and was fair at best.
I would stay here again but only if the price point was competitive.
Room 2818. Room smelled like poop. There was no poop in the toilet, and the smell was there before I did my stuff. But i accidentally got bumped up to a suite so I didn't complain. I just kept it to myself. But. It smelled like poop. Also. Pretty sure it was haunted. Well. Nothing happened. But. You can just tell. Ya know? View was spectacular though. When the damn factories aren't dumping sludge into the river... Maybe that's where the poop came from? I dunno.. but I did enjoy it. Not the poop. But the whole experience - minus the poop smell.
Great views, conviniently located and specious rooms.
Hotel, rooms, staff are fantastic. Lots of parking, pricy but, its NOLA, right? No strolling, next to West bank Expway. But, still quiet. Mini Mall across Expway. Bar and Grill connected.
I love westins, but the service we received on this visit was subpar.
The lobby and lobby bathrooms are very shabby, but the guest room and meeting rooms were clean. The staff is very good, and our catered dinner was delicious.
Beautiful old hotel. They didn't have a room for me the first night despite my reservation but offered another hotel nearby. No big deal just inconvenient after rolling my luggage 3 blocks from where my family was staying only to have to roll it back there wearing high heels and wait to check in the next day. Room was nice, elevators were fast. The view from the restaurant was magnificent, though the small lady host didn't let me sit by the window - despite an empty table that they could have easily cleared. That was a real let down due to the day I was having and that is actually the prominent memory I have of the hotel. Sitting alone in the middle with people walking by rather than starring out the window overlooking the river. Nice bar area. Nice staff also.
It is a prime location hotel with less than acceptable service. They are basically a mess. The sheets on the bed were fitted on the wrong side, the breakfast is what you will get in a 3 or 2 stars hotels and the service is the worst I ve seen in a very long time. We had to wait around 20 minutes to change the key cards which were deactivated because of a mistake in their system. The attendant (Joan) barely speaks or understands English!!!! All of that happened, and we are supposedly treated exquisitely because my wife has a Marriott platinum status. It s a big disappointment.
Very nice hotel. I think the room we stayed at has been remodeled recently. Awesome view of the Mississippi River and French Quarter. Lobby is probably the nicest in New Orleans.
The house keeper can be very loud. One would stand in front of our door and talk to other employees. Apparently she doesn t have an inside voice. Also keep slamming doors when cleaning the room next to ours.
Stay was short but good. Enjoyed my time here. Everyone was friendly
It's a nice mall but pull out your pockets because it ain't cheap.
Great location but below average service and food for a Westin. Room was a little worn.
I will NOT stay here on my next visit to NOLA. The hotel staff did not accommodate my reservation request and informed me of this once we arrived. Two weeks ago I requested a specific room, river view, since I was given an option during booking, and on the day of my arrival, I was given the choice of a city view or wait two hours to check-in. Seriously?! We just arrived from taking a bumpy flight and our room was not ready. We chose the city view out of jet lag-big mistake. Not only was there no "city view" were on a noisy floor, given a dirty room, the phones didn t work properly- a lot of static and redials to contact the front desk, and we had to request new linens- ours were dirty. Clearly dirty!!! I ve attached a photo of my city view room. Unfortunately, I posted my review a few days before I departed and guess what? The night before we were to leave, we were somehow LOCKED OUT! I had to go to the front desk and request another room key. How ironic? So, me and my mom went to the front desk and requested another room key. Thank goodness the Manager of Housekeeping was on duty and let us in our room-we had gone shopping that day. I would like to admit that the staff was friendly, but the hotel experience just wasn't what I expected. At check-out we were offered a free night's stay on our next visit-NO THANKS!
I travelled there for a wedding and was incorrectly charged for 3 rooms (I only had one) on my debit card, totaling almost $2,000. When I called to complain, everyone seemed apologetic - then told me it would be 3-5 days before I could get my money refunded. Spoke to two managers who would "look into it" and haven't heard a peep since. I FINALLY got my money back and not even so much as a discount on my single room charge. NEVER. NEVER. NEVER AGAIN.
Check in is on floor eleven and from there you take a different set of elevators using room key, extremely secure. Lovely views of Mississippi River, very good restaurant. In all hotels in New Orleans there are enormous surcharges for tourism, stadium, room tax, really adds up but will be true of all hotels. Very clean and well kept and the mall adjourns. Pretty close to attractions and activity on canal street.
Great place to stay and a terrific location. A few minor repairs needed and in dire need of a continental breakfast for business travelers.
Avoid this hotel like the plague. Location is good, but the rooms by the elevator are insanely loud making it impossible to sleep. Management/staff rude and dismissive. Don't waste your money here.
The Staff was well trained and helped us have a great experience.
Great location, large rooms, pricy and not of what you'd think the Westin would present as their level of quality.
Great rooms and views. Parking can be a pain though.
Nice rooms and location. Good lobby bar. Front desk girl was very rude and refused to lend me a pen to fill out my tax exempt form.
Very pleased with the rooms and services. They had a little construction going on that made it a little loud.
Literally walking distance to everything, hotel was clean, staff was nice. I had a view of the city which was not bad to look at at night. Loved that there is a mall in the hotel that's big enough. Overall we had a great stay.
Beautiful hotel. Amazing lobby on 11th floor with great view of the river. Comfy beds. Great front desk service.
Almost done with renovation! Rooms are really nice now.
Not sure what is happening but this hotel is headed downhill. Renovations mean nothing at the expense of the hotel guest's peace. No pool for 3 years, the staff seems clueless, gym is now closed for renovations and construction noise is very loud. Lobby with it's gorgeous view is now gone as it too is being renovated!!! A few pieces of new furniture doesn't impress me of what this place used to be. Very sad to see.
Great beds, quiet rooms, friendly staff. Expensive valet.
We stayed here over Christmas and had a corner room overlooking the river. I loved watching the boats on the river day and night, coming and going. It fascinated me. Ask for a river view. Big hotel, conveniently located, good service. Large open areas, multi national guests. Nice lobby. Breakfast was good..We didn't spend a lot of time at the hotel but I liked it well enough to go back.
Great location, overlooking the river, and just minutes from Bourbon St. Grey Lines tours meeting area and Steamboat Natchez are only 5 minutes walk away too. Room was great (rooms start at above floor 11, so nice high views) with a fantastic shower and ducted AC (unlike other US hotels that still use floor mounted AC). Price was also very affordable. Highly recommend.
Our stay at the Westin was great. Room was awesome great view of the river, just great.
P.S. YouTube Food N' Family thanks.
I am an SPG platinum member and I have stayed all over the world in SPG properties. This one has a great view of the city but the rooms were dingy and smelled damp. the double beds were the tiniest I have ever seen and the pillows were not up to typical Weston standards. We received an upgraded room, but I would be scared to see what our original room was supposed to be like. The doors are paper thin and we were woken up all night by people in the hallway.
Whenever we asked for something to be brought to our room (iron or cutlery), we had to call four times (not exaggerating) and sometimes it never came.
The location is great - walking distance to French Quarter and all of the key sites. Close to the streetcar to go to the Garden District.
I had higher hopes for this hotel. Was sadly disappointed.
Nice view of the river and city area, room and bath area are spacious and there are nice exercise areas. The pool is a bit small, there's no refrigerator, microwave, nor cable guide. Overall I would stay again.
This is a very nice private howl with great views and convenient access to attractions.
Large rooms. The furniture in the lobby needs to be spruced
Check-In wasn t the Best because my Ex book the room for me for my Birthday. so I had some complications. His card didn t go through. So I had to do the Reservation over and just Book it on my own. Yes it was very Aggravating yes I book it through 3rd Party. But I feel As the Lady at Check-In kourtney could of handle the Situation more better. I was A former front Desk Supervisor at A Busy Popular FQ Hotel for years. My days used 2 be very Busy , Booking Reservations, 2 city tours, to bring up Towels. Lost&Found, etc etc. I even got cursed out by guest many times. But I used 2 keep a smile on my face. I felt like her vibes was very rude. But My Suite was Beautiful I usually stay at the Roosevelt and Royal Sonesta. But I love this Suite so much better. The only Con is They don t have Microwaves which is weird or A Pool. Other than that all was very well.
This is the best place to stay in New Orleans. Be sure to book a room with a view of the river, which is fabulous. I was there last week with my wife, and had a convention at the RitzCarlton. The room at the Ritz was expensive, small, and we could not sleep over the hum of the dehumidifier, so we moved to the Westin for the other three nights. That saved our trip. The room at the Westin was as spacious as a penthouse, and had a glorious view of the river. It was our anniversary, and I asked that a bottle of champaign be delivered to the room, expecting to be billed at least a hundred dollars. It came with chocolate covered strawberries. On checkout, I did not see it on the bill, and wanted to pay, since we had such a great experience. We were told that it was complimentary, because it had been our anniversary! I would never think of staying anywhere else.
Everything is nice and the rooms are nicely clean and service was amazing and nice
Awesome experience! Clean, great location, and outstanding staff.
Old outdated rooms, very confusing access to the lobby and most importantly, paint chipping off your room s roof at night is quite scary.
Nice view and comfy beds, staff was very rude and unhelpful, although covid was probably the reason for no cleaning , or toilet paper, or fresh towels but the staff looked at me like i was a criminal anytime i entered the lobby.
Stayed with family a week ago . The rooms were nice and clean, the staff was very nice and helpful. Walking distance to Riverwalk , Jackson Square, Aquarium & many restaurants and the French Quarter. A little noisy with the elevators and train , but overall it was a great place .
The staff is friendly, but the boat noise is terrify! You cant fall sleep or rest! The room has a lot dust, I never come back here!
We were in NOLA for a friend's wedding and our stay at the Westin was wonderful. The rooms were clean and fresh smelling. Customer service was great as well. We had a nice view of the Mississippi river. My suggestion is to be ready for the train and ship warnings. Thankfully the hotel provides ear plugs. My only negative was the "continental" breakfast that I think is over priced for the quality of food.
THERE IS NO POOL FOR PAST 4 years.
Clerk says it can t be removed from Google. Yes it can. I owned a hotel. They have control. Only 1 or 2 elevators worked. Convention goers waiting 20 minutes or more. Many reported being stuck for 10 minutes or more with NO AIR CONDITIONING. Stay away
Amazing hotel in an amazing location...get me booked back up
The view from our room was amazing. We could see all the boats and right into the french quarter... but. They give out earplugs because 1)the trains 2)boat fog horns and 3)construction. If you are a light sleeper, this is not the place for you. The room was mediocre and smelled like old smoke (no westin smell!). They are remodeling so hopefully it will be better soon but there were no suits and no exec lounge. Also, the 2 elevator thing was pretty annoying. Great location though!
Horrible internet and torn carpet. How this gets 4 stars is beyond me.
We had a very comfortable stay. The hotel has a great view of the river, it's right on top of a mall and next to a bunch of great restaurants.
My partner has been to New Orleans a few times and this is the only hotel he has stayed in that does not include parking ($46.00, no validation). There is ZERO handicap parking here, but it wouldn't really matter for anyone not in a wheelchair, since the lobby desk is no where near where the elevators let you out. When we mentioned that we couldn't find any handicap parking, the guy behind the desk admitted that he had no idea how they are supposed to handle handicapped guests. At these prices, I expect more than a clean room and a roof over my head. We were driving from Florida to New Mexico and spent all of the other nights in $40 - $60 per night hotels, all of which were better than this one in comfort & staff quality. It put a very negative pall over my first visit. I don't care much about the view from a hotel, but my partner really enjoyed it. That is the only reason I gave two stars. Would not recommend it to anyone.
Nice modern hotel. Convenient paid parking lot across from the main entrance. 12 hour parking is $10.
