Beautiful "Luxury" Hotel but be prepared to pay top dollar for the locale and ocean view which is absolutely stunning. Excellent staff including reception (shout out to Rebecca from the Bronx!), valet, cleaning, pool, restaurant, engineering even the gentleman in the lobby selling pineapple and coconuts to mail back home. However, if you are trying to do Maui on a budget, don't stay at The Westin because this is not a "budget" hotel. This is a "luxury" hotel. Yes there is a resort fee, yes there is a parking fee, yes the ocean front rooms are expensive, yes we had to pay to rent beach chairs and an umbrella - it's the same type of fee structure at all Four and Five Star hotels including the Hyatt. By the time we were done with fees and taxes, our room was over $1000 a night but that did include a breakfast buffet for 2 adults. We were prepared to spend because we did our research prior and knew how many amenities were offered on the property. There are several hotels about two miles down the beach that are much more budget friendly with less bells and whistles that have excellent reviews like the Royal Lahaina. But if you want to go to all out when in Maui and feel important and special during your stay, definitely stay at The Westin! And no extra fee for watching majestic whales from our balcony!!

We went in for breakfast and loved it. The food was good, the staff was nice and the hotel was beautiful. Although we didn't stay there we talked with many guests and they said the rooms were great as well. We are planning our next trip here and might stay there.

There werent many restaurants on site here to choose from so we had to walk everywhere to eat something. The pool isnt as large or nice as sooner of the other hotels near by... The Worse thing about this place are the annoying sales pple trying to get you to tour their other facility theyre bldng. They call and stalk you before you get there...while youre there... I finally told the guy no im sorry. We arent interested but thank you and he hung up on me! The last time i told him this...he said i still need to come down w my husband to sign off on some papers and hung up on me then too. This must be the "catch" to staying here. The lobby has at least 3 to 5 of these sales pple working at all times...its super annoying!!!! Im here to relax...not to get stalked...i would have gone to jamaica if i wanted to be hounded. The best part...how nice The valet guys are! N house keeping... Otherwise... Definitely NOT impressed w this place. I spoke w the Manager on duty about how aggressive these sales pple are and.... He didnt seem to care much so that leads me to believe... Thats what theyre supposed to do! 3 point touch system every day. Hound u 3 xs a day until u give in... The sales guy them had the nerve to call back saying they have an opening tomorrow....really??? And to boot.... We have tiny baby ants crawling on the counters!

Stayed 5 nights and overall good. Upgraded to what they call a garden view. NOT! 2nd floor is ground level. Restaurants are always empty. And lastly the ridicules $30 valet on top of the $30 resort fee, be prepared to pay that per night.

My husband and I went here for our honeymoon and I ll say that for the most part, this hotel was great! The free shuttle offered was a great touch, especially if you want to go out and have a few drinks with dinner. The pools were great to use and the staff was awesome. The breakfast buffet in our package was great, along with the other restaurants on site. However, there were a few problems that really bothered us. First of all, they were doing construction about 3 floors above us and we were told that you wouldn t be able to hear it. That was completely false. We could hear absolutely everything. And this was with our supposed upgraded room . While they only did it during the day, we were never able to relax or nap in the room without hearing it. Second of all, they only offered valet parking, which we were not informed until we got there. They already charge a $30/day resort fee, so to add another $30/day on top of that for parking, really adds up. My last complaint was at the adult pool. They really should be more on top of this because I watched many kids get into the hot tub and pool while staff just walked on by. It was other guests that had to say something to the kids. But like I said before, we really liked the hotel for the most part and would still recommend it as long as your not in the same building of construction!

Attended a wedding here, beachfront. Beautiful location, took place at 5pm so as we sat down for supper the sun was setting for a beautiful view. VERY busy though - people constantly walking by, and the only thing to separate the wedding area from everyone else was a rope. Food was good, drinks decent.

The employees here really made us feel like family. They are all so warm and inviting, knowledgeable and helpful. I didn't mind the construction going on because even the construction workers were a delight. The only complaint I have is that I didn't spend enough time here-- We were always gone on tours of the islands, but while we were at the resort, we kept meeting fun, loving 30-50 something's from all walks of life. The bonus for us: all the interracial couples and how we all spoke to each other, like we were already family. Being gay, my husband and I can't go to many places in the world, but this resort was filled with loving people who made us feel like we belonged, unlike our initial resort. I'm glad we switched to the Westin.
This is truly the greatest place I've ever stayed, and I'm in love with EVERYTHING from the birds that greet you, to the heavenly beds we shower slept on every night. I know it's not cheap, but your happiness and well-being can't come with a price.
Aloha

We stayed at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa for a few days on our first family trip to Maui. The hotel is situated in the beautiful Lahaina area of Maui which is a wonderful vacation spot of the island. Our stay at the Westin Maui Resort was amazing and is one of our top five hotels that we have have ever stayed in. Here is a quick list of the reasons you should stay here on your next trip to Maui.
5 large swimming pools with waterslides and waterfalls
Ka anapali Beach is steps away

Very nice resort with three different pools. Very clean rooms, bathroom. Stayed there for four days around Christmas with kids and the hotel staff handled the crowd very well. Rooms were nice and clean every evening when we got back. Have a nice beach walk behind the hotel. Highly recommend this place.

The grounds were amazing but they are under renovations and it caused a few problems. The maid service isn't great but the bar staff are out of this world fantastic. Shannon, Thomas and TylerBrad "Brad" were fantastic and personable. Felt like they genuinely enjoyed their job and interacting with all of us.

This is a budget resort!! Keep that in mind prior to paying $300-$800 each night. I checked out early as I refused to come all the way to Maui to stay at a run down motel with food trucks as my only option to eat. Upon leaving, I checked in to the BEAUTIFUL Grand Wailea resort. The Grand Wailea offered free beach chairs, umbrellas, 5 star dining and gorgeous rooms. At the end of the day, don t come all the way to Maui to skimp on your resort. Pay the extra money and stay somewhere unforgettable. Sincerely, a one time customer.

Self parking is nearly impossible because the lot ...
Self parking is nearly impossible because the lot is always full, however they will valet your car for free in those situations. Self parking is included in the daily resort fee so no additional charges to park. Also if you are platinum then valet parking is free. The lobby is open and not air conditioned but opens to a beautiful koy lake with waterfall. There is a kid pool (the big pool) and a separate adults only pool. There is no concierge lobby, but platinum members get free breakfast buffet that is served until 10:30am. The breakfast is quite good and has a custom omelet station and many other hot dishes. This hotel is right on the water and has a narrow beach. Almost all the rooms appear to have balconies. Mini fridge in the room. Highly recommend the ocean tower because it has incredible views of the pools and water. Just make sure you are at least on the 4th floor (if not 5th floor). 11 stories total. Super nice hotel.

I've stayed here a few times and each time I do find myself marveling at the quality of the hotel. The pools are a the focal point for most of the guests, but there's a lot more to take advantage of. The gym is great, it has access to the beachfront walking path, decent food, is next door to Whaler's Village and the golf course, and the design/vibe of the hotel all make it a great stay. The feel of the Westin definitely helps set you in the vacation mood.

All the staff should be praised (especially Gia, she was a.m.a.z.i.n.g) all your staff had the been courtesy, professional, personal. Curious to see what it will it will look like the next time we come.
I would recommend to any/a very one I know.

Had a great stay with friends here. Its a nice resort, but the children running wild everywhere was bothersome. The children were even in the hot tubs, making it impossible to relax anywhere.
Most resorts don't allow children in hot tubs.

Guest should know about the construction work being done. The pool area has an excavator and bulldozer and jack hammers running all day. Its loud all day and I could not even get to the front desk without going through a maze of plywood hallways. The pool is at least 60% closed. Everyone is crammed into one little area st the bottom.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for 4 nights at the end of April. Overall, it's a nice hotel. Their lobby and pool area is breathtakingly BEAUTIFUL! They have flamingos, swans and a waterfall all from within the lobby area which connects to the outside poolside area. Good customer service. The appearance of the hotel room itself was okay. For an older hotel, they managed to do some upgrades, but you could tell the closet door was original. We had a view overlooking the hills and managed to get a shot of a beautiful rainbow from our balcony the day we arrived. The beach was lovely. The only thing I didn't like too much about it was that you had to pay for the beach chairs and umbrellas. It can get quite expensive! Food is expensive, unless you go to the food court. But all in all, for the vacation package price that we got, it was worth it. This was actually my second time back to this hotel.

It's not worth $400/night, especially with the majority of the pools closed! The atmosphere is awful with all things block off. They should give 50% off room rate. I don't feel we're staying at the resort especially after we came from Marriot at Wailea. Plus the staffs are not very friendly. Over all I wont stay here again but we already paid 5 days.

Friendly check in and concierge, but so far this resort leaves a little to be desired. The grounds are pretty. However, they charge you $15 to get chairs on the beach apparently - not included as they are with most resorts. And you only get one small towel at a time per person (most resorts I can remember give you two - one to sit one and one to dry off with.) The food at the restaurants is definitely just ok hotel food - go off campus for food. Also small details in the room turned me off a little - the coffee maker was unplugged and nowhere near a plug so you have to drag it somewhere else. And you can see the dirty pillows poking out of the pillow cases - they aren t fully enclosed which may just be a pet peeve of mine but ew. All in all it s ok, but for the price it s a little outrageous.
One more detail that needs some polishing - the QR code you scan during check in displays a mobile website with another series of QR codes for things like menus and fitness bookings... and are completely useless since you can t scan a QR code that s displayed inside your phone

Ruined one day of five in Maui. Our original room was in the middle of a construction zone. After complaining to the front desk they offered to move us the following day. Workers started early in the morning to ruin our sleep in. We then were told to pack up at 9:30am to move to a new room. We were given breakfast vouchers, which by the time we got to use them gave us 15 minutes for breakfast.
We were then told our new room was not available until after 3pm. We had valuables we had packed which then had to be stored in the office. An email complaint was greeted with a condescending response.
WHY BOOK PEOPLE INTO A ROOM IN THE MIDDLE OF A CONSTRUCTION ZONE!! (They were even doing construction on Sunday)
We had travelled from Australia only to have a precious day ruined by the Westin. Looks like a recurring theme by the other guests lining up to change rooms. It was exacerbated by the sheer incompetence of the front staff who have to cope with the fall out. (They asked us to complain online)

Nice outdoor area. Service is mediocre at best. Staff quality varied from person to person. One would be friendly, the next so-so. The odd staff member was borderline rude. We expected more from this resort. Restaurants were also mediocre at best. Relish diner was poor as they burned 2 burgers for me until I just gave up and said I'd probably look at going elsewhere instead of them trying for a 3rd time. The big plus here was they did comp our meal due to my troubles, which was nice of them.
Overall I probably wouldn't visit this resort again, as nothing here isn't available anywhere else in this area, and there are better deals available elsewhere. It's Maui, so it's not like there's a shortage of beautiful scenery/beaches around.

Came here for our honeymoon in Maui and was greeted with construction site in the lobby. We were not informed in advance for on public website about how 2/3 of amenities would be unavailable and how you will be woken up by the loud drilling noise. Other guests were furious as well- they mentioned how they booked a year ago but no compensation was provided Staffs didn't seem to care. I felt bad for them in fact for working under horrible management. Never faced such poor management and customer service from Westin like this. I don't think I will ever come back here if we come back to Maui.

Nope! Outdated, small rooms, small bathroom with vanity in the room, slow service. Pool area overcrowded with chairs, no room in between chairs, not much of a shade. Overall, don t come here! Valet is just AWFUL! Waiting time between 10 and 20 min. and no, you can t call ahead or have them bring your car at certain time. Room cleaning, if they come and you are in your room, they are not coming back later! Of course I m in the room at 1-2pm when is the hottest part of the day!
One more thing to know and it s not hotel related! Rental chairs can t be on the beach after 4pm! So, don t even bother getting chairs and umbrella, go straight to the store and get your own chairs. Business is not allowed after 4pm but your own chairs are. Weird, right?! And no alcohol on the beach! No sipping cocktails or beer in the shade and relaxing on the beach!
To add one more bad thing about this hotel: elevators! You have only two on one side of the building! You ll wait forever!
Impressive entrance makes the good mood.

Very friendly and anticipated staff in all areas.
Pool area very nice, access to the beach discreetly in front of the door. Best location on Maui.
The only drawback: many renovations, so sometimes quite loud (only at the time of day)

The entry is inviting. The flamingos, taking birds, and koi around the lobby are fun to feed daily at 9 AM. Keoki the cockatoo says hello, aloha, and good morning to you and allows you to scratch behind his head! The heated pools are enjoyable with various sections, some connected, some with waterfalls and tunnels to a large hot tub, and some connected to waterslides--one large, one small. The beachwalk runs right behind the resort with direct access to Kaanapali Beach. The sunsets are absolutely breath-taking with many ways to enjoy viewing them--on the beach, by the pools, or at the restaurants in the adjacent Whaler's Village shopping center. The resort is great for families and provides nice, clean baby cribs. Housekeeping was only average, often forgetting to restock towels and toiletries or providing nothing but decaf coffee.

Really nice hotel. The rooms are alright but the pool and beach are very nice. If you plan on paddle boarding do it in the morning. I waited until the afternoon on my last day and was very disappointed. The wind picks up and they can't allow people to paddle board or kayak. The hotel common areas were very busy with people. Check out the Westin nanea. That's an incredible hotel.
When I called the Westin before going on vacation ...
When I called the Westin before going on vacation I couldn't get through the phone to them. When I arrived to the resort it was good service until I ran into an issue with my Visa debit getting charged and the phone lines from my room. I would get transferred and hung up on or transfered until the line went dead. I felt like anything to do with money inconvenienced my time and I would be stuck having to sort it out. Anything that I asked for wasn't followed through on and I felt my room was neglected when it came to cleaning. I felt like I wasn't a valued customer whenever it came to an issue.
The positive thing was the manager, Seth did a good job helping me resolve issues and was nice enough to talk to my bank and husband, while apologizing for the issues we had with payments on my card. I've always loved staying at the Westin but next time I think I may try another resort. I should add the the time share also didn't follow through when they offered us seats and dinner to sit through their spill on us buying in. My husband and I were really interested but once we went to the show and felt that we were mislead we opted out of buying the time share. I don't like feeling like everyone just wants to something from us or money but have crappy attitudes otherwise if we aren't paying them money. At least I had a great vacation but Westin could improve on their customer service and especially their phone lines. Thank you Seth though for helping us at the end. The experience overall was a good stay and vacation with comfortable beds and a beautiful view but I've had better service at other Westins.

Meh. It's a hotel. For $550 a night (which, thankfully, was paid by the company), we got a room with two beds and a shower, overlooking the parking lot, decorated with awfully ugly faux wood paneling and furnished with cheapo faux wood furniture. No microwave, and a teeny bar fridge that won't even fit restaurant leftovers. The room was clean, I'll give them that, but I expect more from a high-end hotel. Our room was indistinguishable from airport motel accommodations.
The pool had a surprising deficit of shade. A few sparsely placed umbrellas were all taken by 9am, and the pool itself had no shady spots to hang around in. If you wanted to be in the water, you absolutely had to subject yourself to direct sunlight. To the credit of hotel designers, the pool area itself was very pretty -- but because of all the "charming" winding and turning of the waterline, it was very difficult to keep visual contact with my child. So good luck getting a quiet minute of sitting in the shade while your child plays in the pool -- nope, you must be constantly on your feet if you want to see them... I was never as exhausted by the end of the day as I was during my stay there.
Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING in this hotel costs extra. Be prepared to shell out $30 for beach umbrellas and chairs (cause the beach has no shade either). Be prepared to pay $100 per person per day for food. Be prepared to buy dollar-store quality beach toys for your kids for $10-20. If your child is over 5, be prepared to pay $80 per kid per day for daycare. (No luck if you have a toddler, you're on your own!) It was like living inside a shopping mall. An expensive shopping mall.
I will not be coming back.

I have stayed at the Westin Maui for years. This past trip I was discriminated in the worst way. I rented a covered lounge chair. I was escorted to the chair and was welcomed. Soon an employee named
COBE (Kobe) came over and told me I had to leave as this chair was rented to a party of 4. He was nasty and aggressive so I requested to speak to the manager. He told me he was the manager, I had to leave because I was one person and the other party was for four. As a 68 yr woman I was appalled and very upset! The real manager, Mo Sanoon, was personable and took care of the problem. He was exceptional and very apologetic. What an outstanding employee he is. COBE does not represent the Westin on any level. He is damaging the Westin s high ratings and service!

There's a wonderful swimming pool area. And a lot of small pools to walk around and take pictures. Lots of birds. All sort of birds.
There's antique furniture and decorations around the lobby and elsewhere on the property. I noticed antique Chinese items. A lot of them.
The hotel is right on Kaanapali Beach. You can take a long walk in either direction on the beach path. Or do some jogging on the beach path. You have just a short, beautiful walk to the Whalers Village Shopping Center.
At The Whalers Village Shopping Center there are many restaurants that are right on the beach. And many stores to walk around.

Fantastic views of the ocean and a great beach are waiting for you at this hotel. The Westin's staff is very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in close proximity to many restaurants and bars. This is a great choice for those that are traveling to Maui and have a vehicle at their disposal to venture out to other parts of the island!
