I haven't YET stayed here. Just booked it through Expedia. While I'm sure the rooms and service would be great, I was surprised to find these hidden charges:-
1. Parking isn't free. $18 per day! Which hotel charges for parking?
2. Wi-fi is $15 per day. Even the 1-star rated, cheapest hotel these days have free wi-fi.
What is more annoying is that you get to see this only after you have completed the booking. I wished the hotel was a little bit more responsible and transparent about this.
Unfortunately I can't cancel this because my booking is non-refundable.
Update: So I am just back from the trip. Even the 1-star I have is not deserved.
Pros:
1. Beds were comfortable.
2. Customer service was great.
3. You can order food 24 hours (night menu is limited though).
Thats were the good stuff ends.
Cons:
1. As mentioned before, 15$ per day for wifi and 18$ per day for parking. My car rental with Midway was 14$ per day, cheaper than the parking.
2. I asked for a room in the higher floors for the view. They did do that, which was so kind. But when I reached the room, the glass window was dirty - destroyed the view.
3. Bathroom door lock didn't work. Not an issue for me and my gf, but I certainly don't expect this from a $$$ hotel.
4. There were two phones in the room. The one near the bed didn't work.
5. The heater in the room was ineffective. The blankets were pretty nice, so we used them fully.
Tips:
1. For parking, park in the nearby streets. 6pm-9am is free parking. After 9pm its paid parking through coin operated parking metres. Park all night, but be prepared to wake up early and take your car out before 9am. And be sure to look for the street cleaning signs. Tuesday and Wednesday are the street cleaning days in the morning. I got a 50$ ticket. So much for trying to be smart (to avoid the 18$ per day parking in Westin).
2. Wifi is free in lobby. When you login it says 1 hour complimentary wifi, but then u can relogin after that expires and there is no charge.
I really enjoyed that hotel its really comfortable and everything is available thanks the westin
The Westin Long Beach is a gorgeous place! The staff was wonderful and the atmosphere amazing!
One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in its really awesome they have everything you need there you don't even need to leave
Very nice hotel with geat customer service. It is expensive to rent a room.
Dear owner I hope you see what I am about to write. You're staff is extremely rude and tried to tell me how the bed comforter being dirty was normal because of the feathers clumping up lol that is just outrageous out of all my hotels in my life never have I ever seen that before. Emeralda ( so she claimed that to be her name aka the manager ) told me how I didn't have to stay in the room If I didnt want too. So funny after spending over 100 dollars I sure do want to spend extra money somewhere else with no refund in hand. I will be sure to post the pictures of the dirty comforters on social media so everyone can stay away from the dirty hotel. You already have two other complaints of dirty rooms but I guess no one cares enough. Stay away ...
Very nice and clean place. Except when my daughter and I were out front a 2 roof rats ran across her feet.
A last minute booking, very good parking, staff friendly and facilities near by.
I love the beds at the Westin. Also the shower is quite nice.
Friendly restuarant staff. Front desk cheerful and helpful. The baggage gents were amazing.
Great service! Staff is awesome. 2 thumbs down for expensive parking. Should be free considering the fees
Well appointed rooms, but no fridge. Comfortable bed, clean rooms, but pay for Wi-Fi, which is pretty archaic (and expensive) for the poor bandwidth.
Room and amenities we're great except that the shower water was a bit cold in the mornings.
Nice place aesthetically and the location was great. Very disappointed we had to pay $28 for overnight parking. We stayed the night, so we thought they would at least validate. But no. I was also disappointed wifi wasn't free.
Breakfast is included with stay and there is quite a nice spread. Great location!
Wish I didnt have to pay for wifi. Otherwise nice place.
The A.C. is OK... as someone who doesn't like the heat that much, I prefer the room to be cold. However, the room was nice. There is a mini fridge but no microwave. We did not park at the hotel instead we parked in an open parking lot 5 mins away for $10 for overnight stay.
Room was clean and comfy. Hotel had easy access to the nearby convention center. Available breakfast food was alright, but could have been better.
Clean and quiet room. Very convenient location to lots of restaurants.
Parking lot structure was confusing parking down then looking for the elevator as you go up to the lobby have to look for another elevator to go to your room number, I suggest more Signs are more labels or staff nearby to ask.
Comfortable rooms, breakfast that could be improved
Great staff, clean room, great location and our room had a lovely view.
Nice place to stay. The rooms are clean and well stocked. The valet staff is FANTASTIC!!
The hotel is very nice, and the rooms are really spacious. My only complaints are that the fancy rainfall shower heads have really low water pressure, and you have to make a special request if you want a mini-fridge in your room.
It was cool. Wasn't completly upfront with all fees.
The hotel staff were nice and respectful, and the accommodations were wonderful. There were a couple of details that made me disappointed (like an outlet not having power), since it was $350+/night.
Really nice place close to everything in Downtown but $24 for parking is a bit much. Rooms were nice and clean. Good place if you are looking for something close to the pier or outlets.
The lobby area of hotel needs renovation in addition to elevators, hallways and floors. The room is nice and rain shower head refreshing. Location is great as it is near Promenade, Pike, Shoreline Village and Catalina Express port.
This was a good place for a meal and beverage after attending a conference. Bartender made good recommendations. I think they closed too early for my taste.
We celebrated our anniversary and stayed at the Westin for the weekend with our dog. The service at check-in was great and remained the same through the weekend. Our room was very nice with a good view of the harbor and there were plenty of walkable places ttovisit. One thing I didn't notice but realized when we got there was that there was no free WiFi which was a kinda bummer if I want to be picky.
Charge $10+ for WiFi and $25 a day for self parking. No SPG Platinum benefits. Bathrooms dirty with stray hairs in sink and tub.
Nice hotel but FYI they include 18% tip on the room service besides usual delivery fees, so not impressed they gave me a total receipt with a tip line on top to sign when my food arrived. So staff got tipped an extra 20%. Not cool.
Very comfortable and great hotel. The beds are still heavenly
I was there to pick something up from the bell staff. Everyone was really nice
Beautiful hotel. Great location. Only issue was the room wasn't ready at check in time. Took longer to check in than i would have liked while they found a comparable room.
Excellent quality and service. Great amenities and a good location. Walking distance to several restaurants and attractions. Food is a little pricey, but normal for a hotel.
Friendly and professional services. Clean facilities. Close to shopping and dining.
We had our wedding reception here on 6/9/2018. The senior catering manager Karen Adams was super helpful and accommodating. We had last minute changes with the number of table twice, but she was able to revise it right away. If we had questions, she emails us right away. Our wedding package included a complimentary junior suite for us to stay the night. The catering staffs and servers were excellent. I would use The Westin Long Beach again in the future.
It was a normal hotel, nothing that was more special than another. The event room was smaller than other venues have larger ones.
Very nice hotel. Excellent and friendly staff. I did not stay here but probably will in the future.
Came here for a conference and the food service was provided by the hotel. I must say, the breakfast, lunch and snacks were perfect for what we needed since we couldn't really leave to go get food, so it was definitely worth the trip.
One of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in. My poor experience of this hotel started at check-in. I was advised that our room would be ready within the hour so rather than go to the pool we waited and had a bite to eat. Two hours later when we returned we were informed they had no rooms ready. When we eventually made it to the VERY SMALL swimming pool (not as it looks in the photos!) with probably no more than a dozen sun loungers there was nowhere to sit, further dissatisfaction. Later in the afternoon we tried the pool for a second time and found one lounger and one chair, there was three of us but we made do. Our time at the pool was unpleasant, people playing their own music (loudly!), I m not sure what they were playing but music with lots of foul/bad language. My 8 year old son was present and there were other young children at the pool so I requested the guest playing the music turned it off. There was no presence from the hotel staff at poolside so lots of unruly behaviour. As for trying to sleep in this hotel, good luck! the noise was like New Years Eve in Times Square (I have made a recording and will be forwarding to the management of the hotel). The room could best be described as dated, basic and dark. The towel rail in the bathroom collapsed when reaching for a towel. I am writing this review after one night of a two night booking at The Westin and will desperately be trying to find another hotel for our second night in Long Beach.
Good experience. And comfortable stay. They also have nice features like gym with shower
Great hotel in the heart of downtown Long Beach. Clean and comfortable rooms! Amazing customer service.
Venue was beautiful. Very spacious and overlooked some prime real estate
i love the area .close to every thing .nice hotel crew sp.(othmen)in help desk and (pen)in room service
I was at the Westin on business for about 4 days and I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It is a very clean well-kept place I enjoyed a quick visit to the gift shop and got a few things to take home. I particularly enjoyed the courtyard and sitting outside there. I had breakfast every morning in the restaurant and the fresh fruit and other Foods were all amazing.
The bed earned all 5 stars. Only stayed one night (plane arrived late and we left early the next morning) but I still dream about going back to that bed. Well worth it. We stayed on the 7th floor...the view of the city was nice-ish (picture attached) and it cost $25 to park (pretty standard for L.A. area). But, that bed...
The convention services are fantastic here, and in general the room accommodations are fantastic, however the pillows are rather uncomfortable and the room smelled vaguely musty. This isn't a fault of the employees, though, their employees are some of the most helpful and polite I've encountered in travelling.
Had to call for tub to be unclogged, to get a broken lamp taken away and again to get a replacement. No laundry bag. Too soft bed. But the room was v clean, well appointed, nice amenities and a stunning view.
Please protect your housekeepers from cleaning filthy rooms youdont know who has the covid. And anyway why travel during this psndemic
I came here with my girlfriend for our anniversary. One of the ladies at the front desk, Alice, took one look at my military I.D. and immediately gave us the best service I've ever had at a Hotel. She took care of our parking, upgraded our room, and made sure we were satisfied with everything. Great service at this hotel, military friendly staff, great time all around. Thank you Alice.
Great Location
Victor, Esmarellda, and the entire front desk staff are amazing
The Westin Long Beach is wonderful! Great staff, great room and amazing food. Compliments to the chef! Just had the best weekend! Thanks Westin
The location is perfect, the views are beautiful, the rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the food is good, the staff are friendly. What more can you ask for? The gym and the pool are jot what I was expecting and could use some improvement. Marcus at the bar was an absolute delight!
