Nice place with a lot of services. The dining area is well organised and clean. Outside the arrivals there is a Circle K supermarket open 24/7 with all you need for your lunch if you want to spend less money.
Information screens and information boards are clear and written in English and Khmer.
Lost and found service is perfect.

Clear, clear airport without a large crowd. Staff is professional, facilities are clean. A little little offer to eat, but that's manageable. In the future, a train will lead to the center. But that will happen at the earliest in 2018.

Boarding is confusing. My flight is at 12:45 PM and boarding time was at 12:15. There was no explanation why boarding (and departure) was delayed. Also they kept the passengers queuing when they already announced that they were ready for boarding. Even the first class passengers were standing in line for at least half an hour.

If the customs collects the tip, please prepare 30 US dollars for the landing sign, no more, and pay the visa to leave. If you ask them to find money, you will definitely make you suspect that their mathematics is taught by political teachers.

The immigration officers when we arrived were extremely rude and patronising, not explaining some rules around e-visas and getting angry when we were trying to explain. Such a shame it gave us a terrible first impression of cambodia, and an unfair impression of their colleagues at the airport. There were also an obscene number of cash machines outside the airport, some of which didn't work, but seemingly all of which charged you a fee for withdrawing money. Another thing that leaves a bad taste in your mouth.

City airport.

City airport.
They treated me like an animal. They made me pay for the visa and they didn't even stamp it. They threw me out of the airport in a hurry because of the number of tourists there were. Badly coordinated, lack of resources, the bathroom was pitiful.

Tourist scam at the airport of Phnom Penh, Cambodia

This post is to warn other travelers to be cautious with Visa / Immigration officers at the airport of Phnom Penh.
When I arrived at the visa office at 10 PM last month, there were 2 queues with non-friendly officers: one where to leave your passport and a picture, and one where you pay and get back your passport.

After moving to the second queue, the Deputy chief of visa service Pol. Col Mean Sam Ang (according my visa stamp) asked me to pay the 30 USD visa and I gave a note of 100 USD. He made me wait a few minutes, gave me back my passport and urgently ordered with a rude tone to move to the emigration queue. Being tired from the flight, I did not notice they did not give me back the change, my fault here.

Then I moved to the emigration queue, and wait for 15 minutes before crossing it. During all this time, the officer could have bring me back my change since he was only 10 meters away, but he didn t do.
When I went out from the airport, I realized that I lost my 70 USD change.

Of course once outside, there is no way to come back inside. I tried to get help but nobody wanted to be involved (security, airport officers or information service). The following day I tried to call the airport, and they refused to help. All bribed or scared to go against the bribe?

I have the feeling it was all well organized, and they were trying taking advantage of the tired travelers.

A few days later when I was about to leave the country, I tried to talk to an emigration officer at the departure area but seems a very sensitive topic and they looked very angry; I didn t feel safe enough to insist and left.

70 USD is not a big amount, but enough to give you a very bad (maybe wrong) image about the all country when you arrive, so be vigilant if you go in this country.

Generally an up and coming airport. Facilities are good, with check-in, passport control and security easy and staffed professionally.
Duty Free area is small and not the cheapest of places. Most products can be purchased in the city cheaper than this shopping area.
Food court is moderately small with few seats in the well known burger franchise. Pricing here, again, is aimed at taking as much dollar as possible from your wallet.

People managing the airport are peaceful, friendly and helpful. There's a no fuss attitude to their way of doing work. We find these traits key in driving more tourism into the country.

Wasn't exactly the worst place in the world to arrive in. Getting out was easy and communicating with our driver who picked us up was a breeze.

For those wishing to get a tuk tuk from here I'd like to suggest pick me as an app choice. Get yourself a Cambodian sim card at the airport to get yourself the best deal. Otherwise just haggle the tuk tuk drivers, if you arrive in the day time you can get a bus into the main area of Phnom Penh. Again, just go outside of the gate to get onto the main road.

When you arrive, you can come by taxi or tuk-tuk at Grab soon. There are times when you need to walk to the parking exit on the right side after leaving the airport as there are times when you do not come inside.
When you leave, you can enter the airport. The check-in counter opens, every plane seems to be from 2 hours before the flight. As soon as coming, it will be waiting in front of the information board, so it will be enough for an international flight about an hour and a half before the flight. Unlike other airports, it's not so crowded and it's comfortable.

Clean and simple airport, appropriate for the amount of traffic the city see's. Immigration may try and swindle five or ten bucks from you if you're not careful, and they hand you a brochure for condos. They're not there to hassle you, they're there for profit. Which is also evident when you fly out, it is impossible to reach the departure gates without walking through a duty free shop.

It is a small airport.

It is a small airport.
If you want to use Tuk Tuk cheaply, you can get out cheaply by leaving the airport grounds and negotiating the price (the airport grounds are small so you can go outside immediately).
You can also move cheaply by calling Tuk Tuk at the Grab outside the site.
A taxi is recommended for people who are not hot and for groups of 3 or more.

Terribly unhelpful staff during corona syndrome .....

Terribly unhelpful staff during corona syndrome ....

We felt so little understood and welcomed on March 19, 2020 when we were in great need of support, help and empathy because we had to quickly return to Quebec in this sad historic virus crisis. Nothing special to help travelers in distress. Staff coldness with such obvious jemenfoutism that made us even more vulnerable. We had known such a gentle and welcoming people since the 17 days we were in the country. We were stunned by this general attitude of the staff. There was the language barrier, of course, but there was no reason to treat us this way. We just wanted a flight to Bangkok from the existing Bangkok Airways kiosk and it was quite a demanding task to get them. We would like to thank the young lady among the employees who understood our request and especially our state of mind. She even got mad at the girl and the guy in the kiosk of Bangkok Airways and made them understand radically our immediate need and everything quickly unlocked. We finally got our two tickets on flight PG 934 which departed at 3.35pm. Time was advancing and it was necessary to act quickly. We felt that we would have difficulty finding a flight to Montreal from this airport. This is why we decided to try our luck from Bangkok airport. We paid $ 124.00 US per ticket. The customs officials who received us to finalize our departure so that we headed for our departure gate were notoriously rude and rude towards us and we could not understand why. We do not judge the country happily because of these employees and we will return to Cambodia which we loved. But this team in place that day seriously damaged the reputation of their people. We didn't have the heart for the photos of course, but we still have those of our boarding passes to share with you.
