This is a national treasure. I felt overwhelmed by the beauty, solemnity, and power. I am amazed that a structure created by man can create such a sublime experience. The staff were very helpful and the tour was super informative. Well worth 12 bucks.

I was fortunate to attend a wedding ceremony here, what a gorgeous and epic space! Be sure to look for the Space Window which commemorates the Apollo 11 moon landing, and holds a piece of the moon in a nitrogen sealed capsule in the center.

The Cathedral is truly awe inspiring...the stain glass, architecture, the different chapels. Went for the Independence Day Worship on Sunday June 30, '19 which was also great. The choir was very good, the pipe organ sounded magnificent. A must see in Washington DC

It's the National Cathedral, so you'll want to scratch it off of your to-see list. It's a pretty church, on par with a lot of European cathedrals (although less ornate, to be sure). I came here for Christmas Eve services a few years ago and it was a phenomenal experience.

Charging $12 a head to see the inside of a cathedral, however, is a bit steep. Most of the great churches of Europe do not charge you a dime to see the inside.

I really enjoy the National Cathedral, whether walking the grounds or taking a tour, the Cathedral is a sight to behold.

Take some time walking around the perimeter and see if you can find the Darth Vader carving on the external facade of the building.

Easy underground parking, or relatively easy street parking for visitors. Generally, DC city streets allow you to park for 2 hours without a parking tag.

The only more magnificent Church I've been to is St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City. This place is truly glorious. In addition to the grand architecture, winding catacombs, and gorgeous art, there are remarkable grave sites of incredibly important figures, such as Helen Keller, President Wilson, and Admiral Dewey.

An amazing place. After touring many of the standard DC sights on prior trips, I decided to go to the cathedral on a recent trip. Easily visible on incoming flight due to the size. It was a loooong, uphill walk almost the whole way; the extreme humidity didn't help. But once there, it was well worth the effort. It is so large that it is disorienting. It sits in a residential neighborhood, so unlike the downtown attractions, it is not surrounded by anything of relevant scale. I toured solo with just a map, but there were guided options. The architecture and stained glass are wonderful. Unfortunately, there are still repairs from the earthquake, so some of the stained glass was not visible in the main chapel. The observatory gives a great view of the surrounding area including downtown. Went on a weeknight, and it was not too busy. There is fascinating history there, but as a place that still functions as a church, it was appropriately set up for quiet reflection, contemplation, and prayer. Transformative experience.

Awesome. It is the 6th largest Catholic temple in the world. Started in 1907 and finished in 1990. Relatively new for a temple of these characteristics. Inside is magnificent. A clean and very cured neo Gothic is observed. Some stained glass windows are classic and others of current style with allegories of the arrival to the moon in the 60's for example. Pay attention to the ribs of the columns and vaults that are lost in the heights. Very nice big canonical chorus. Take a tour inside with time, it's worth it. Admission is paid (u $ s 12.-) there are guided tours, unless you are going to pray ... in this case the entrance is free. For liturgical functions the entrance is open to the community and free. No doubt a great example of recent neo-Gothic architecture in Washington. Safety pin!

The National Cathedral is a must stop when visiting Washington DC. It is near central DC. If driving there are places on the street to park but they are limited in availability and the to remain parked (usually 2 hours). Public parking is available directly underneath the cathedral; it is convenient but rather pricey.

Just to the side of the Cathedral is a pocket 'park.' It is the Bishop's Garden. Small but a wonderful space to see beautiful flowers and take time to slow down and enjoy your thoughts or companions in this garden setting. When finished in the garden there is a full cafe just outside the garden.

A very beautiful place. I recommend taking the subway to Cleveland Avenue, and then go on foot. You will see the real "one-story" America and its quiet streets. There will be no souls on the street, only fluttering flags over houses and parked cars. The cathedral will appear before you unexpectedly and will amaze with its beauty and grandeur. Find out in advance the mode of operation so as not to be in front of a closed door. Then you can walk to the Russian embassy.

Two weeks ago I attended with my wife the wonderful cello concert of maestro virtuoso extraordinair Yo-Yo Ma at the Washington Cathedral. The setting was wonderful and totally appropriate for Mr Ma's performance of 6 Bach Cello Suites. What an incredible performance! The accoustics of the cathedral were good for this type of music.
Unfortunately seating signage was very confusing and inadequate. But most of all the tv screens used to project Mr Ma's performance in the aisles were far too small for the occasion. Frankly there is no view to the main stage of the cathedral from the aisles as it is heavily obstructed by the cathedrals columns. For the price we paid to sit in the aisles watching a Small TV screen that was a major dissapointment!
Overall we enjoyed the concert very much as it was truly a concert of a lifetime!
The concert was 6 star ,the venues organisation only 3.

You will not be disappointed by stopping here. I highly recommend doing the tour in the main cathedral when it's open. It doesn't take very long and it's informative. We had the cutest little old lady. Make sure you go downstairs to the lower chapels. They are all beautiful and interesting. At the time of this review they are still in recovery from the earthquake way back in 2011. We donated and put some pieces on the lego sculpture they are making that they hope to help fund some of the reconstruction. Go see this national treasure!

$40 for us to get into the Lord s house . Tour guide was extremely pretentious. Gift shop sold Buddhist and Hindu statues. It was a den of thieves operated by someone who has never read the story of King Solomon. Wished we d spent more time at the Monastery. I was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED. If you re a Christian, don t support it.
