The history, architecture is amazing. This structure compares to many of the European buildings of the era. Many writings to read on the walls. This is one of great second visit places I like to take visitors to after they have done the monuments and museums on the mall. Make sure to catch the organ demonstration.
Quite a lot of history in this Cathedral. Our tour guide some well and knew a lot of things to tell us.
I recommend taking the tour. The building is pack with symbolic meaning and your guide will give you some of the best highlights.
Attended the most recent Cultural Fusion performance: the Gamelan Experience, by the Postclassical Ensemble at the National Cathedral. Was a wonderful experience, with perhaps 400 in attendance. That you to the organizers for offering free tickets to furloughed feds. Thank you to the Email of Indonesia for supporting and providing complete Gamelan orchestras from both Bali and Java. Fantastic evening in one of the nation's most beautiful spaces!
This is a beautiful building. Inside and out. Second time I've visited and it was still breath taking. The detailed architecture will blow you away.

Beautiful church! We went on Sunday and got to see the service. Gift shop is good, you will see variety of stuff. The architecture is amazing. It is a must go if you are in the area.

The lady and gentleman offering advice and information when you enter the church are very welcoming and friendly. I've never seen this role performed at other churches.
It is not the Catholic but the Anglican cathedral. If you miss the Sunday Mass, you must enter the tour for $ 15. Because there are many tourists, it is possible to participate in Mass without paying even if you are not a believer. There is a mass timetable on the homepage. There are prayer rooms and a souvenir shop in the basement.
Gorgeous gothic architecture outside of Europe. Been meaning to visit for ages when I have business trips out to DC, finally had a few extra minutes today to explore. Worth the visit!

Incredible views from the 7th floor. Docent workrd5 at cathedral school 44 years and had great stories. Showed us where her basset hound is immortalized in stone!
Neat building but about the only place you have to pay to visit in dc. Kind of odd when it's a church.

It's hard to put to words how amazing this place was. The Cathedral is simply beautiful, everything a wonder in it's own right. The tour guide we had was fantastic, all the information extremely interesting. With so many other great things to see in the area, it might be easy to miss this one but it's worth it to detour!
Visited with family from California and Colorado. All three of us were impressed with the beauty of the structure. The guides were especially helpful. The place was very well maintained and the grounds were lovely as well.
It was very interesting to see the impact of the recent earthquake and to see the display that described the repairs. They have a nice gift shop with interesting books for sale. My two guests went downstairs, but I did not because of a knee injury.
I was there for Senator Mccain funeral, though the doors was shut to the public, the Cathedral and its grounds were beautiful. The diversity of the people and love for this man was overwhelming. From a distance l saw Presidents Bush, Obama and Clinton. Up close the handsome Vice President Joe Biden, he actually waved back at me. Just to be a part of this wonderful day celebrating the life of Senator John Mccain touch my heart. Thank you National Cathedral. Looking forward to visiting again under more pleasant circumstances.

It is a bit far away from the down town, but you have to spend your time to come and see it.
It is beautiful and huge, on the hill, surrounded by the green. It is located in quite districts, and also has sport and child yards around.
It is not open 24 h / day, so you better come till 6 p.m. There might be private events inside in the evening.

It's a beautiful place that has lost it's mission. I went to the elementary school there in the 70s and grew up in St. Joseph's Chapel. The structure was damaged by the earthquake and is undergoing repairs.
There are no words to describe how beautiful and breathtaking the Washington National Cathedral is. Peaceful atmosphere, bells ringing for the perfect ambience, stunning architecture... Beautiful gardens with benches to sit down and relax. The surroundings are gorgeous as well. We really enjoyed our time here and the overall experience was great!

What an incredible building!! It's massive with beautiful architecture and grounds to stroll on which are many other charming buildings. I went to see Marianne Williamson speak, but will go back to explore the Cathedral and its history.

It's huge, the glass windows are amazing, and everywhere you look is limestone from Indiana.
Very rude and I was told with the group that we can only come with reservation and I was told to F- off by the person that seemed to be security or empoyee of the Cathedral... I asked if this was the house of GOD and why we can not see the Cathedral from outside they called the police to get us out of here..... Sad to see this.... will never come back again and make sure to tell everyone I know.
A truly impressive building. Didn't care for not being able to look inside, though. (I mean, really, I wouldn't have interrupted the ceremony!) But I did love the curtains!
Rated for looks alone. It gets a 0 for the incredible corruption of christian values by politicians, especially conservatives.

Beautiful place of worship. Also from an architectural standpoint. Would definitely go back, so large, hard to see all in one trip.
Beautiful spot with a great view of the city from its highest point (on the observation deck). Go on a Sunday to get in for free (not sure what the general admission cost is but nothing says DC touristing like free museums and historical attractions). Observation deck not for those with a fear of heights or small enclosed spaces.

A goliath of a Cathedral sitting on the highest point in Washington. A must see if you're interested in religion, history, or architecture.
Even a heathen like me is welcome here. It a beautiful space with great programs and entertainment.
