Great boutique hotel. Front entrance is wheelchair friendly and the staff at the front desk was super helpful. Option to pay $25 for valet parking or Green P costs about $16 for the day just across the street.

The location of the hotel is right at the heart of dtk and its filled with lovely shops and restaurants to indulge in. Right next door there is a splendid cold pressed juice store for some delicious refreshments. The rooms are clean and so is the establishment!

Really beautiful hotel, and rooms, although I was very disappointed with how loud our evening was. Between hearing people from rooms above ours, to hearing people yell from the streets and all the traffic. I would not go back. I barely slept.

Beautiful boutique hotel with easy check in and check out. Warm and welcoming staff; loved that I could check out by sending a text message.

Room was spacious, clean and comfortable with good coffee and tea amenities. Wifi speeds were good so doing work wasn t a pain in the butt. If you want to get a workout in, guests also get a complimentary pass to GoodLife or the yoga studio nearby. Overall, would recommend!

We always enjoy our stay at the Walper Hotel and we stay here a least once a month. From the great staff who is very friendly and helpful to the beautiful, unique rooms, it s always a home away from home for us. We also love that they are dog friendly.

We stayed here a couple of months ago because of how pet friendly it seemed online, they advertised a dog bed, dog bowl and dog treats. We were excited that our dog would get treats, a bed and a dog bowl to use. When we got here none of that was available and the staff looked at us with very confused expressions when we asked about it (we were in a pet-friendly room and had let them know ahead of time that we were bringing a pet and we paid a pet fee). They did go out of their way to provide lawn chair cushions tied together for our dog, but we had to use the tray lid from the room service we ordered as a dog bowl. It was quite disappointing. We have family in the Kitchener-Waterloo area and were excited for the re-opening of the Walper and were hoping it would be our go-to hotel!

The Hotel is nice, great location!!

The Hotel is nice, great location!!
Beds are comfortable.
However the glas in the fridge was full of dirt, coffee, sugar and milk was missing.
Shower was kind of buring hot, but got taken care of asap.
Receptionist ( young man from Jamaica) was helpful, friendly, and we appreciated the chat.
Parking however isnt available for free, $14.50
You have to pay if you park over night.

I own Hillier Photography in Waterloo and was very impressed with this venue. My clients hired me to photograph their wedding and the staff was amazing. Everything went so well and organized. Weddings can be chaotic at times and it all went so smooth. Food was amazing, and the rooms are amazing for before photos of the bride! I highly recommend having your wedding here.

Taxes in, I paid $327.88 for a room worth $150 at best. My "view of the city " was an alleyway leading to the Green P parking garage that the hotel doesn't even validate (yep, no parking at the hotel). Room service consists of them delivering cream or milk for your coffee. Restaurant is open for breakfast only from 7 to 10 a.m. and costs a fortune ( that's right-325 dollars and not even a Continental breakfast). The room has a very comfortable bed and a shower only. Wouldn't book a room here ever again.

It is a nice place! For weddings you can have all 2nd floor for your event. Walls are white, very nice flooring. Event coordinator was very helpful with any questions I had. I come here often with my photo booth - zattuphotobooth.ca - they have the rooms right here, your guest don t need to step outside for the night. Food is great! Their ballroom is not too big, but I think that up to 100 people is a perfect fit for the room. You have a little stage too in case you want to put your DJ there, or you can make it the main table. Check this place out and decide for yourself.

One of the best hotel experiences I have had in a long time and I usually travel about 6 months of the year. Extremely friendly staff, free valet parking, wonderful handmade soaps, personalized touches like hand written welcome notes, milk for your coffee/tea, spotlessly clean rooms, large containers of shampoo, conditioner etc. I am a loyalty and card member for a hotel chain and I am so glad I stayed here. Will not stay anywhere else when in the Waterloo/Kitchener area.

Great Place in Downtown Kitchener

Great Place in Downtown Kitchener

The window coverings do not keep the light out well enough. If you re sensitive to sleeping in a not completely dark room, this might bother you.

Parking Garage right across the street at ca. 3,50$/h or max. $14,50/day. Didn t use the valet parking service which is also available for around 20$/day.

The hotel and rooms are very clean, even the staircase. It is located in a nice historical building with very modern interior.

Terrible experience, based on a staff that was ignorant and petty. After rebooking our room for a second day, they cleared it out, storing our belongings in storage, then claimed we didn t rebook it, (ie who did you speak to this morning, implying I was making it up,) then had us rebook it again later that day, at a deal price which was what we paid the night before and were promised by our fictitious employee when we rebooked that morning. When I called them that evening to replace our dinner, which we had left in the room, and had been thrown out by housekeeping because they hadn t gotten the memo on us staying, (their fault, not ours,) they refused to replace it. A simple pizza. They wouldn t replace it, claiming we were already getting a deal because we were paying the same as the night before. They were so rude. We left and went to another hotel immediately. I would never recommend this hipster hotel, based on the better than thou service. What ever happened to treating people like people? Appalling.

Rich with history, boasting with hospitality, and elegantly restored. We truly enjoyed our stay at the Walper Hotel. Our room was amazing, the staff was super friendly and welcoming. The Walper Hotel offers accommodations for any size group, including a fabulous grand ball room, restaurant/bar and even a top notch coffee shop. If you need it, they have it. Thank you for making our stay so pleasant!

The Walper, unlike it's hotel counterparts, is a very unique, very boutique hotel with a lot of character, charm, and vibe.

Companied with a basement bistro, the Walper offers the best of Kitchner. This hotel is pet friendly and accommodated our pup without issue.

A 4-star rating is deserved but that extra missing star:
- Our bathroom door wouldn't close
- The neighbors TV was turned on fullblast until about 4am and we could hear it all
- An electric teapot and chemex were available if we wanted coffee but there was no coffee

Cozy little place, but historic sparkle degraded by modern renovations. Button lights only work in one elevator and it takes awhile for the doors to close so you don't even know if it's working. Bathroom lights hard to find. Wall where a window should be. Window right in front of shower. If you fly in from the west coast and arrive after 10pm make sure you eat in Toronto before you come over or you're mostly out of luck for dinner except maybe ordering a pizza.

An old hotel that has undergone a fantastic modern renovation. - Update: We've been twice now. Second time in a smaller room, still nicely designed. Location is great, with the Berlin Restaurant just down the street! It is an old Hotel, so noise is an issue with loud guests - but I can't fault the hotel for that.

Note: Look under the sink for the Hair Dryer :)

very good! Clean and tidy, the service is in place. Located in the city center, next to the hotel and other facilities, life is convenient. To the social parking building 200 meters, there is an additional charge.

This place is great for a date night out. Room was very classy and well decorated, service was good. Everything I have heard about the place lived up to the expectations. Looking forward to spending another "getaway" evening here.

Had a wedding here recently and it was beautifully done. The service was excellent. Food was very tasty and original. The spaces they have provide a good mix of areas to relax and sit down and those to dance and enjoy.

Disappointed. Staff unable to control room temperature - either sweltering or freezing (in June). Only one elevator was operational and it wouldn t stop at the first floor one morning. Unsafe drop off on a busy street with remote parking. Courtyards ? - no such thing. Toilet ran on and TV signal constantly dropped. Very kind and friendly staff, but this did not make up for technical deficiencies.

If you want the perfect venue for your wedding this is it. Not only is the hotel stunning, especially with all the renovations and modern touches, but the staff are fantastic and will do everything within their power to make sure your day is perfect. A special thank you to Leah and Domini for exceeding all my expectations and for making all our special requests come true. Thank you to Michael for providing only the best wines for our special day. Thank you to Joel for not only producing the most delicious dinner menu we have ever had, but for also making my mashed potato bar dreams come true (was a HUGE success!). If I have missed anyone I am sorry, we truly thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.

Modern clean and expertly designed rooms. Quiet hotel. Heart of downtown. Bath products were great. Bed and pillows very comfortable. Only downfall was we never received any coffee for the drop coffee machine. But did not derail our stay. We will return.

We stayed here last night and I would reccomend the Walper Hotel to anyone. The staff was very kind and helpful. The entire hotel is clean and very modern. Our "pocket king" room was very nice to stay in. The bed had big down pillows, the mattress was super soft and as comfortable as anything we've ever slept in. Even the shower gel and shampoos in the shower were great. The only thing they could do better is maybe have a separate department that handles their weddings. EVERY time I went to the front desk, someone was on the phone, scribbling notes for a wedding party. It seems to absorb ALOT of the time for the people working tge front desk, and as a guest, it was a bit annoying. But other than that, this place is awesome.

Feels more like a 4 start hotel. Very clean, modern, and welcoming. The toiletries provided where great and the surroundings are very interesting. Only 4/5 because of the small breakfast menu, it could be much much better.
