I had left this review below about a week ago, and had wrote to the management as they had left a reply to do so. The manager's was that they are aware of the issue.

I think it's important that people are aware when they took with Walper that the room TEMPERATURE isn't controllable. I believe this is a very basic need for people staying overnight. I really like all the other aspects of the hotel, but this is such a fundamental NEED for some people that I am writing this review.

"Cute hotel, friendly staff, cozy space. Loved the breakfast and the vibe. Except!!! I did NOT have control over you room temperature. I had to call front desk TWICE to get my room warmer, and even when I did it took maybe 2 hours to get it a little warmer. When I woke up in the morning, it was still sitting at 66 Fahrenheit. ( i've asked to keep it at 74). This was VERY uncomfortable. i brought this issue up to the front desk and I really hope they do something about this."

We were part of the entertainment for the birthday party on Feb. 26. The hotel had graciously donated the space for the little boys party. They also opened a room for us to get into our costumes in comfort. We were very grateful for that. Kudos to your hotel and your staff.

Grandiose hotel. Rooms and all other rooms furnished with great attention to detail. Bathroom modern and very clean. Breakfast and parking are not included in the room rate. But by far the best breakfast on our tour.

Gorgeous and hip hotel in downtown Kitchener. Easy access to many amenities. The rooms are decent sized and furnished beautifully. Employees are super helpful and always friendly. The decor and atmosphere is very well designed which makes for great photos in the lobby and 2nd floor.

Outstanding Service and Hospitality!!

Outstanding Service and Hospitality!!

My best friend was supposed to be married in April 2020, but due to the pandemic, it was postponed to October 2020. Originally we were having dinner and staying at The Walper Hotel. However, less than a week before her wedding, her venue went bankrupt and The Walper Hotel was there to pick up every piece. The space they hosted her wedding in was stunning, the hall was perfect, the room we had to prepare was spacious and everything we needed to get ready was there for us. Andrea, Azuri, Jason, Rachel, and Ashley are just a few names I can remember of the people who made this entire weekend possible!!!! I could write an entire novel of how grateful I am to the entire team that made this happen.
The food was amazing. The rooms were spacious, well designed, and very comfortable. Everything was 120% perfect.

To the owners of The Walper Hotel, Your. Team. Is. Outstanding!!!

I will forever be grateful to you all. Thank you a million times over <3

Such a charming hotel!! The bed is firm with a soft pillow top liner, the sheets and comforter are light and airy. The smell of the room reminded me of a fresh rain. It was very inviting. The bathroom was modern with a rain shower head and marble finishes. They provide bath gel, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathroom in dispensers so you done have to ask for annoying little bottles when you run out. The coffee service was neat but the coffee was a little weak for my taste (I like dark roast). The staff was friendly and accommodating and the food in the basement restaurant was killer. I was impressed with how light and airy the space was considering it was in a basement. They also offered acoustic singers who were fantastic!

Great location for a hotel in Kitchener (King & Queen). Close proximity to plenty of food/drink. The free admission to the Goodlife Fitness is also a nice touch. The hotel itself is clean, modern, and overall very comfortable. Been here twice since the renovations and will certainly be returning!

We made a reservation and the hotel did not honour...

We made a reservation and the hotel did not honour it.
We made a reservation on August 23rd for one night on Saturday, August 31st. We received an email with a confirmation number and details about our room and the rate, etc. On Saturday morning I called the hotel and confirmed our reservation and told them that we would be arriving late, between 7:00 and 7:30PM. The woman I spoke with said No problem. I ll mark it on the computer that you are arriving late.
We arrived at the hotel at 7:05PM and the Manager told us that the hotel was fully booked and there wasn t a room for us. I explained that I had called earlier that day and confirmed the reservation and he just kept saying that the hotel was full. He would not or could not explain what had happened or why our room was given away.
He said that the hotel would pay for us to stay at the Howard Johnson Motel in Kitchener because it was the only place with rooms available. We asked about a comparable room in a comparable hotel and he said we would have to drive to Mississauga.
While we were talking, a woman came rushing in. She had received an email a short time ago saying that her reservation had been cancelled. She had reserved a suite 3 months ago and confirmed her reservation the day before. She had come from her daughter s wedding reception. The reservation was for her newlywed daughter and her new husband.
The Manger told her that the hotel was fully booked and the hotel would pay for her daughter to stay at the Howard Johnson Motel. No explanation about what happened or why her reservation was cancelled.
We feel betrayed. We ended up driving back home. A huge inconvenience.
Be forewarned. This hotel does not honour it s reservations. Do not trust them.

The Walper Hotel wedding department is phenomenal to deal with. We planned our wedding for 75 guests in Kitchener for May 2020.

Before you book any venues for your upcoming wedding, I recommend that you take a tour of the Walper to get a sense of their gorgeous facilities and exceptional service.

Attended a wedding at the Walper Hotel. The venue is beautiful and was decorated very stylishly. The staff were very attentive to guest needs and were happy to help ensure everyone had what they needed to enjoy the evening. The food was average, and was plated well. Overall, a very nice place for a wedding reception.

The Walper Hotel was okay (we would rate it a 3/5). Parking is $25 valet and they tell you that you can park across the street for $15 with no in or out privileges. One thing we noticed unfortunately is that the maid had really strong BO (body odour) so when she finished cleaning our room, the room did not have a very pleasant smell until it aired out. There was also loud music from the bars below/around at night (we stayed on a Thursday night) and we were on the 3rd floor corner suite so just bring earplugs. Sinks were a bit dirty as well.

Since the revamp, this iconic hotel in the heart of KW has reclaimed its title of KWs best. Food and drink are outstanding and the atmosphere is a step above any other hotel in the city. Was there for an event and would happily return.

The Walper Hotel is by far one of the best Hotels I ve visited in Ontario. Not only is the staff extremely friendly and helpful, but there is a constant attention to details and to offering a personalized experience. The rooms are impeccably clean, with a quite unique selection of toiletries where only the finest, organic and natural items tend to be chosen. The Waller s washroom offer there own shampoo and bath product dispensers, a keen addition that puts the Hotel as an environmentally friendly choice. The rooms are big, bright, comfortable and with a modern minimalist decor. The food at the restaurant - the social - is excellent and an interesting contemporary fusion with equally friendly staff and timely service. Overall, an excellent hotel a wonderful and clean experience which I m delighted to highly recommend.

Love this hotel! I read the Tarot here for the high tea venue for years. They always treated me well and were really helpful and co-operative when ProvWide wanted to interview me doing readings in the dining room. Great staff and dining.

We were led to believe as patients of st Mary s hospital we would be offered a special rate
We then found out that special means you are charged more as they assume you will need a drive to the Hospital and will eat breakfast (patients are rarely able to eat before their opp)
This was not mentioned to us when we booked we were automatically charged the higher rate

When I noticed some of the amenities in our room were not up to standard. I looked online to check the normal rates for our room and was surprised it was quite a bit less

I did bring this up with the reception staff and they did make a small reduction. But the reduction still did not match the price found via Priceline if I had booked online myself.

I did book our room three weeks ahead of time so this was not a short notice booking. And I did walk in and deal with the Hotel in person.

Just my thoughts. Great staff. Great location. Though on a Tuesday evening Kitchener downtown does not have much to offer. We ate at the Social and it was great.

If anyone is looking for a great wedding venue, I ...

If anyone is looking for a great wedding venue, I would highly recommend the Walper Hotel! It is beautiful inside and out with excellent food and staff who go above and beyond.

Our wedding was scheduled for March 28 2020, but did not happen because of covid19. Early March they let us know what availability they had left in 2020. We decided to pick May 30th in hopes that the pandemic would be gone by then. However by the end of March it didn t look like a May wedding would be possible either. So again we changed the date to December 19th. The staff helped us envision what a December wedding would look like by sending us beautiful photos of previous weddings.

They have made this stressful time a little bit easier on us and we are very grateful for their on going support and we are looking forward to having our wedding in December.

We stayed at the Walper for a wedding. Our room was awesome! The bed and pillows felt like you were floating in a cloud it was lovely.

The only recommendation I have, is to have more fluently english front desk concierges as it was difficult understanding them, especially when I was trying to find parking.

I stayed in room 302. The room was very spacious and well designed. The only problem I had with is was a vibration that I felt when I laid down. It might have been the cooling system or heating system unit running beneath me possibly. Either way I didn't make a big stink about it but it may bother some people. The place in general was very chic and clean.

Great location, hotel looks great and people working are friendly. Problem is they had to fix safe and hot water knob and took them 4 time to com in and out do it that I know. After I came back to hotel room at 2 am they left screw driver and access panel on ceiling in bathroom whide open. Dont know reason for that. To get in to hotel. Front desk agent has to open door for guest because at some point they lock front door at night. Dont know point of that. Why not be able to use a room key.

Beautiful hotel, with very thoughtful appointments, socially responsible products, and genuinely kind staff. Rooms are spacious and clean. But the building does have old age quirks, like slow elevators, and small bathrooms. I'd give a 5 star rating, except the noise from the road is very loud. Kept waking us up at night.

Very cool, imaginative, creative, yet warm hotel. It was one a restaurant and dance venue from 1900, it had now been reinvented into a unique boutique hotel. Each room is different, but spacious, modern and clean. A personal touch, they left out a bag with my name on it and a recipe for hand roasted coffee pour over coffee. Worth a visit if you're in town.

I came for the Thursday night $1 oyster special and they were delicious. We also had lobster spaghetti and the roasted cod and were very pleased! Our server Anna was very friendly and attentive. And there was also live acoustic music during our dinner. Overall it was an amazing experience for a great price!

My husband and I traveled a lot in the last 11 years and this was by far one of the best customer service we ever had. The hotel looks stunning post renos and rebranding...

The hotel looks stunning post renos and rebranding, the room was nice and clean, but our sleep was awful. All night husband and I tossed and turned only to find out the heat had been set to 27 and we had no control to change it. When we called the front desk to turn the heat down, they froze us out and we woke up to the room being 17 degrees. Eventually they got the right temp, but when we discussed this on check out it was acknowledged and that's about it. I expect a comfortable sleep from a hotel, it's not much to ask. We didn't get it, and there was nothing done or offered to make up for it. Even just a discount on breakfast, something small, would have sufficed. I'm bummed. I've been rooting for this local establishment since they redid the place. I really wanted to give five stars.

Nicely decorated hip hotel. But missing a few little things.. no hair dryer, no hotel information book, no signs indicating where the rooms are. I would have slept okay on the 4th floor but I could hear the music from the wedding on the 2nd. The bathrooms feel a little clinical. The rooms and bed are very spacious. The lighting options are great too. Very friendly staff.
