Always top notch service and something going on. A real gem for downtown and Waterloo region as a whole. Top to bottom- overall easily the region's most vibrant establishment.

Friendly staff, clean, very comfortable room. The decor is incredible. They even threw in some birthday treats for my partner, who I was surprising
Stayed here on my wedding night. They had the room ready for us very early on the day of my wedding so that we could get ready in our suite. The room was very clean and I loved the decor. We ordered breakfast the next morning and it was great! A lot of our family and friends also stayed here while they were in town for the wedding and everyone we talked to loved it. Great location, walking distance to lots of shops and restaurants/cafes. No onsite parking but there are lots of city lots nearby.
This hotel sounds like a great idea, but it is poorly executed.
The rooms were nice with modern decor, however we found that the walls were dirty with splatter in the bathroom, the doors(!) were dirty, a bedside lamp was dirty (looked like coffee had been spilled on it) and there was dust on the bed. We had no coffee in the room and the cups were dirty. When we asked for someone to come up to our room, they forgot to bring the coffee. There was also no complimentary water in the room (as advertised) and the radio wasn't working. You are also not able to change the temperature in the room yourself, you have to call down to reception for them to do it and it is never accurate.
Breakfast at the hotel was also pricey and very basic. We had scrambled eggs and we got very little, with minimal effort put into presentation and preparation.
Lastly, we found the management not very welcoming. When we would ask for information or help, it was as if they were doing us a favour.
Very dissatisfied overall considering this is supposed to be a boutique hotel. I have stayed at 3-star hotels that provide cleaner rooms and better service. I hope service and offerings improve at the Walper.
The staff are great and the decor is beautiful, but the layout and design of the rooms could be a bit smarter. The rooms we were offered vibrated and rumbled, being in top of and righr next to the building's HVAC, and the third room's bathroom was way too small to accomodate two people..
We still love this hotel none-the-less!
Great experience at the Waller. I was there for an event and everything was top notch. Great food, beautiful space, really nice overall.
Very modern, hipster vibe. Enjoyed our stay - would come again but would have liked better window coverings (it got bright in the morning).
Fantastic atmosphere. Nice place to relax and have a few drinks.
There is no parking in the building! Instead you must park in a municipal lot near the hotel. They can give you a pass to enter and exit the lot as you please, but looking for parking was a 20 min headache I wish I could have avoided.
The amenities were nice. They provided self brew coffee in the rooms, however there is no breakfast provided. The fridges were a little small, only enough for a couple of drinks and a medium food container. Bathrooms and bed were gorgeous. The also have little handmade soaps in the bathrooms. Would stay again.
Love this place, i was extremely surprised about how amazing this place is!
I would definitely not recommend this hotel - I was very excited to stay here but it is not a 4-star and not worth the premium price. The website advertises free shuttle service but the front desk is disorganized and not able to fulfill your requests (even when given notice prior to arrival). When we got back to the hotel at 1030pm on a Thursday the bar was closed and the room service was no longer available. We chose this hotel while attending a wedding nearby mainly because it's pet friendly. The "pet friendly" rooms are VERY tiny and there was no "house made dog treat, dog bed and bowls" waiting as advertised on the website (which left me disappointed).
Overall I think this hotel is trying to be something it's not. Save your money and book the four points (the bar is open past 11pm)
Love how they preserved the old hotel. Excellent service and wonderful food and drink.
A lovely surprise as the new renovations are modern and fresh. All the staff were so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend it.
Really stylish, and clean hotel. The staff was super friendly. There was an umbrella in the room that came in handy and I especially appreciated. The details they put into building these rooms is great. I will definitely come back.
This hotel is completely disorganized. They lost track of 2 out of 3 reservations made by my family and ended up having to downgrade one the rooms.
The renovations are beautiful, but it is missing some of the vintage charm it used to have. I also find it quite pricey for downtown Kitchener.
Great halls and overall venue experience! staff was amazing and the food was delicious. highly recommended l.
Beautiful building and conference room. Excellent cappuccino and breakfast.
Good hotel, but every change to the air conditioning requires a call to the front desk. This is not a great experience in the middle of the night.
Fresh, modern feel, just downstairs off King St. We had some great cocktails while waiting for dinner, would definitely come again!
This was the most memorable experience in Canada. Darnell Chan made me feel like I was the only person in hotel. His hospitality and kindness throughout my stay was impeccable. I will return in June 2019 and look forward to seeing him and Sarah. Great teamwork and services was outstanding. I hope others will have the opportunity to share my wonderful experience at the Walper Hotel. I am visiting from Texas and wish we had Darnell working back home to train others in his hospitality. "GO COWBOYS ".
New renovations looked nice. Was only there for an hour. Didn't see much. Appetizers served was mediocre. Macaroons at the dessert table was pretty good!
The hotel is very nice. The room was a little on the small side, but it's a hotel room, it doesn't need to be large. The hotel is very well situated, near lots of cool bars and restaurants. Things do close fairly early around here, though.
Awesome service. Great location downtown for going out to a nice dinner! Little bit of a small room but really clean and updated.
A truly beautiful wedding ceremony, dinner & reception of friends Alexandra & Eric on December 27 2018. Every aspect was executed perfectly by the staff. Stunning decor, ambiance & dinner.
Not bad don't fall asleep there cause it's like??????
We attended a wedding and stayed overnight. The rooms were beautiful, food incredible and service excellent.
Modern, comfortable rooms. Made me feel like I was at home. Will definitely stay again
Was attending a professional event. Sound could be better
This place is amazing. Not only is it in great shape. It also has very fast internet that actually works properly. Which is amazing! Also the employee handling valet, saw that I left my phone in my car and brought it into the hotel! Can't say enough good things about this place.
Amazing staff so friendly ! Rooms are very comfortable and relaxing and hotel is located perfect spot with lots of great restaurants walking distance
Newly renovated rooms. Very clean and well designed.
Great team willing to work with you and your needs whether it be for a wedding, anniversary, large dinner, or hotel bookings. Beautiful building with amazing history.
Great atmosphere renovations are amazing. Friendly. Willing to stay over and over again.
Great place! Modern, clean, delicious food, excellent staff!
I was really disappointed with the service in the hotel. People at the front desk are not very helpful, nobody knew why we didn't get $12 breakfast as that was outlined in the confirmation email. Elevators were not working, rooms smell really bad, they gave us dirty room in the beginning.. I wouldn't go back there because it doesn't worth $161 for sure. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Such a beautiful place to photograph weddings!! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Food is delicious. Highly recommend.
Recently extensively renovated. Everything is new and great right now
When you walk in, it's absolutely beautiful. No denying that. Concierge staff is friendly and prompt.
However, you can hear every movement in every room beside and above you, as well as in the hallways. I had to call concierge at 1:30AM to ask the people above me to quiet down and I could hear him walk to the room, knock and have the conversation with them. It stopped for about 10 minutes until I realized the hotel is just built terribly and this was how it was going to be.
We were staying there for my brothers wedding in kitchener and myself, my parents and my brother and new sister in law booked rooms. No one could sleep because of this. Better yet, I've now been charged incorrectly based on reservations made online. One of which they "cannot identify" because all of their facilities are showing as the same name on my statement so the resolution was "We don't know so its probably something you charged against your card unknowingly". Nice! Thanks for that. You're beautiful, Walper, but that's about it.
Never been inside but when I drove by I looked expensive and I didn't believe that it should be expensive because of how small it was or maybe I could be wrong on this thing's actually Hughes either way I feel like it's way too expensive for what it is then again I don't really know
I'm From German mininte Decent And I love Kitchener The walper is Great
There is a barber shop on the ground floor, facing queen st. It''s a good place to go for a haircut.
Adorable boutique hotel. We really enjoyed our stay there, and the service. It's a little pricy but worth it if you want a unique experience and a hassle-free stay.
This hotel is wonderful. A chic and boutique style hotel. Very unique and wonderful designs, with the friendliest and most wonderful of staffs. Highly recommend for your next stay in Kitchener.
Nice and open great for social events definitely will visit again.
I have been working The Walper Hotel staff for the last 6 months to plan our wedding for August 2020. Unfortunately, due COVID-19 we have now had to move our wedding to 2021.
We are so glad we found the Walper and we would definitely recommend them and their staff to any brides out there. Not to mention the rooms at the hotel are super cool!
Rooms were fantastic. The lounge staff is the only reason for a lower reason as they were a bit rude
And uptight. Everything else was 5 stars!
Check in was quick and easy. Beds were comfortable and the rooms are very nice. The parking is an extra cost and not on the premises. There was a wedding happening when we arrived and the entrance was taken over by smokers from the event. That was a little off-putting. Otherwise a fine stay.
Nice hotel in the heart of Kitchener. Historic building with a very modern Scandinavian interior.
We stayed on the fourth floor. Beautiful place and clean room, but terrible sound-proofing. We could hear all the noise from traffic outside, laughter and shouting from the corridor and rooms adjacent to us (until at least 2:30 am), and chairs scraping across the floor above us. The bed was comfy but we didn't get much sleep due to the noise!
A historical gem that's well maintained. The attention to details at this hotel is just great. The pour over coffee was an amazing personal touch. We had an issue with our room and the staff were great and moved us to another room. Thank you Walper Hotel we definitely will be back!
Went for a wedding. Beautiful venue. Food was very good. Rooms are modern and updated. Old building. Haunted . Yayyy . Will recommend .
A charm! Wonderful little hotel, dowtown Kitchener. Very comfortable bed, the best coffee in a hotel ever (chemex method!), friendly staff. The best option around by far.
They have really done a great job with the renovations here. Beautiful atmosphere and very friendly staff. Wanted to share the menu for their Barristers Lounge as I could not find it online. Make sure you try a donut too!!
We enjoyed dinner on the patio. We both had their burgers and fries and we loved them. Our service was polite and quick and we liked that the greenery around the patio made it seem a bit more private than the other patio options along King Street.
I loved this hotel. The decor was amazing, so thoughtful and cozy, couch, chair, bed, angled tv. Neat thoughtful touches like a map of the area on the underside of a courtesy umbrella! Lighting was great, especially fabulous natural light in the restaurant, tasty coffee, bathroom was spotless, shower was fantastic! Guest services were really friendly and funny. I dream of coming back just to hang in the vibe of the hotel room.
Attended my employer's holiday party in the cocktail bar and stayed overnight in a guest room. Both experiences were top notch. In particular, the overnight stay was excellent, from reservation through to checkout. The day before I arrived, I received a mobile text reminding me of my stay, and offering to take care of anything if I replied. I used this feature to confirm my checkout time in the morning, and got a quick reply from Mike. Upon arrival to the room, there was a personal note and corny Christmas joke handwritten (again from Mike) on a paper bag that contained some locally-sourced coffee. That was a very nice touch. The room, while not exactly huge, was nicely decorated, inviting, and CLEAN. The bathroom contained a huge shower with a wonderful waterfall showerhead. The bed was very comfortable. The price for this stay was also very reasonable. I highly recommend the Walper hotel if you need to stay in Kitchener. Will definitely stay overnight again if my employer returns for next year's holiday party.
Great experience, good food and drinks, decent prices and nice atmosphere
It would be best if you left a tooth paste and brush in the bathroom.
Attended a company event. Hotel is amazingly renovated and kept clean.
The service was abit slow. Took awhile for the food to come and portions could have been bigger as not everyone on my table got certain food items. Inbetween dishes was a very long wait.
Servers did not even acknowledge how the guests were doing or how the food tasted at our table of 10.
I was there for an afternoon work event and I was blown away by the atmosphere of the place. The dining rooms were all smaller but connected to form a unique feeling dining space that was larger than the sum of its parts. The food was fantastic, the service was excellent, and I am looking forward immensely to the events I have coming up at this hotel. Sidebar, my parents got married there many years ago and still talk about it to this day. This hotel is a gem.
An absolute gem, such a refreshing spin on a hotel stay, from reception to the custom soaps, and shampoos and in room coffee,no need to stay anywhere else in the area. Loved it
Really clean and modern, in a old style building that was really neat. Nice touches in the room, eco friendly amenities in the room like pour over coffee and shampoo dispensers. We had a great stay and would happily stay here again!
They recently redid the whole hotel and it's absolutely stunning. I recently attended an event here and the food was delicious and staff was super friendly. Highly recommend it for events.
A beautiful hotel! It was just recently renovated. I stayed here for a wedding and was very pleased with my experience.
No free parking so sad each night will cost you 10+dollar
The hotel was beautiful as were the rooms. We had breakfast on the second floor and it was delicious. The hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Really great experience.
I've never actually stayed here before but we were planning on having our wedding for July 2020 in the Crystal Ballroom! Due to this pandemic, all The Walper staff have been amazing and understanding. I know some venues don't let you discuss plan B options until closer to your day but they were very prompt and quick to help change the date.
We are so thankful we decided to book with The Walper Hotel!
Food and service were the main tipping point for choosing them. Hoping to celebrate our wedding here in the future!
