Good location, room was very clean and modern. Had a bit of difficulty adjusting to using some of the amenities (shower, TV, curtain) but caught on quickly enough! Not super soundproof though, could hear nearby guests and their conversations occasionally. Service was very accommodating and helpful!

This was our first time staying at the Walper Hotel, its an amazing hotel. We loved our room, the service and the vibe in general! We will definitely be back in fact this might become one of our regulars! The most memorable part was the hotel manager, Azuri, was beyond kind and helpful, he went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! We will definitely be back! highly recommended!

In 2015 during the huge renovation, we had our wedding at this hotel. It was more than three years ago and here I am writing a review because I have not come across any other place that was so dedicated to make me happy...going above and beyond to the point that our guests did not even know there were walls gutted and tools around (because they hid it so well). The employees, the food, the decor, the many little details were more than I could have ever imagined! If they were that in tune with a customer's wishes then, you will not be disappointed now!

It would be easiest for me to sum this up by room:...

It would be easiest for me to sum this up by room:
Room 1: Holes in the wall, two twin beds (wife and I booked one queen)
Room 2: Headboard fell off of the wall and landed on my head
Room 3: 86 degrees, broken air conditioning (it was summer) with a small fan as a substitute.
Room 4: Shower had peeling and moldy cocking, the floors were heavily stained and looked as if they hadn't been cleaned in years.

Since the hotel doesn't put your room number ON your keys, we had some drunk try and break into our room at 5am. The hotel staff seemed indifferent to all of our complaints, starting with the incorrectly booked room. And to sum it all up, I leave you with this quote from the manager.
"It's a matter of preference sir." - Management
"Your hotel looks like it has never been cleaned, and it literally falling apart. That's not preference, that's neglect." -Me

They ended up lowering our bill by $30 (It was over $150). Judging by their callus attitude and lifeless eyes, I can only assume they are jaded from complaints.

Please, avoid this place at all costs.

Hotel is nice and staff friendly but it is LOUD. Good luck trying to sleep with paper thin walls, loud hallways and traffic from the street outside. Maybe an interior room would be quieter. I won't stay here again because I like to sleep at night.

Beautiful, historic hotel.

Beautiful, historic hotel.
The staff is tremendous and exceptional.
The king room we got is amazing.
Comfortable bed and pillows.
A landmark hotel rich in heritage and designed with modern furnishings from lights to chairs and pour over coffee!!
Always impressed when I see an iron in a hotel room!
The bathroom is lights out.
It's huge. And clean and the shower built for two.
I couldn't recommend the Walper hotel more if I owned it.
See a show at the square and stay at the Walper. A perfect combination.
They had a beautiful Christmas tree!!
Truly impressed.

Excellent hotel. I made a last minute request for a room with a tub which they were able to do. This place was spotless. My room had a window that opened which I loved. Every corner of the hotel was designed with incredible taste. Rooms have wood floors with rug instead of the run of the mill wall to wall carpeting. I was expecting a full length mirror that could have been hidden in the armoire since I had one of the smaller rooms but that was the only thing missing. Service was great. Prices are great

We spent the night here as a staycation to celebrate our wedding anniversary. In the two years since we last stayed here a lot has changed, unfortunately not for the better.

It was disappointing to see the switch from smile tiger pour over to Starbucks machine coffee, and the addition of the single use creamers. I would think a hotel priding itself on environmental sustainability would not have made this switch. We were also missing the personal touches of the welcome message! The diffuser was a nice touch in theory, but there were no oils in the room and it s too much of a hassle to have to call down to the desk. I was also surprised that there were no USB plugs in the room, seems unusual for a newly renovated hotel. We had to bring our own HDMI cord to be able to watch Netflix connected to our laptop, again just seems odd for a new hotel despite its history.

Room service was not available the evening of our stay and in the morning no one was answering the phone. Having to go downstairs to order food is no problem but I was disappointed to still be charged a delivery fee.

Overall the hotel is beautiful, the room is beautiful but the service and some recent changes has made this less of a vacation and more of just a room to stay at.

Stayed here for a wedding. The staff at the hotel were excellent especially the bartender Natalie. She really went the extra mile for the whole group. I stayed in the king bed couetyard view room. Was extrememy well kept and very quiet. The rain shower had especially good pressure. Would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in Kitchener and for any events be they social or professional.

Stayed at this hotel not by choice and it was great. New modern rooms and fancy soaps. The bar and breakfast area were top notch and the staff were extremely friendly. Will be back when I'm in the area!

The Walper is a wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of Kitchener's downtown. Within a 1 km radius, you're surrounded by a wealth of great food and drink options, including an a couple of options for dinner or cocktails. The rooms are modern, with a great mix of colour and materials and although you aren't going to find a great view, the small touches like in-room pour-over coffee, decor, and creature comforts more than make up for it. Highly recommended, and I plan to return to stay in the future.

Recently renovated and made the following poor decisions: weird toilet seats where the lid fits over the sides of the seat, so if the seat is raised you have to close the entire thing to get the seat back down. Weird shower where the left knob controls where the water goes and the right knob controls the temperature and neither one is marked in any way. Not offering creamers or whitener with in-room coffee. One ply toilet paper in a room that costs nearly $200 a night. But the worst decision they made was not to add any sort of sound insulation between the floors or rooms. We could hear every step the person above us took, as well as their luggage and furniture dragging across the floor and the heavy bathroom door slamming. Couldn't get a good night's sleep thanks to this. Definitely not coming back. Rating raised to 2 stars thanks entirely to the sympathetic lady at the front desk who offered complimentary brunch by way of apology, which we could not accept as we were leaving on a schedule.

Beautiful hotel! Came for a professional event and will definitely come back for a stay. It had modern but warm decor with a bit of a hipster twist. So many local touches. The bar area is really inviting with lots of comfortable seating. The drinks are top notch. Creative non-alcoholic mixes as well. Try the Apple Sage Fizz.

Stayed here while traveling for a job interview. Hotel was clean, rooms were modern, staff was friendly. Close to a lot of amenities. I know there is a restaurant in the hotel, but bender checked it out so I can't really comment on quality. All in all a good trip.

Unprofessional. There was a (large sized) fly in our room and another dead by the window when we checked in. Service was slow.
It's been a week since we checked out and we have not received the invoice yet.
Would not recommend.

Friendly staff and beautiful hotel. Room was clean and updated. Decently sized room with tall ceiling. Parking is not a problem (parking deck across the street). Clean sheets and I had a good sleep.

Nice, modern furnished hotel in the center. Only the corridors are a bit angled due to the architecture of the old building. Everything was very clean and the staff friendly. For a quick stop in the middle of Kitchener highly recommended.

Very cool and up-to-date place - from road warrior to couples get-away - recommended. (Me mostly as a road warrior!) But would definitely bring my wife with me here for weekend while visiting K-W area.

I had such a wonderful stay at the Walper. I had not been since before the recent renovations, but I was so impressed at how gorgeous the room was. Very modern and vibrant, while paying homage to the history of the building. The staff were very accommodating as well. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting KW (or even those who live in the city looking for a staycation!).

We booked our wedding night at the walper and the room was INCREDIBLE. The staff was so helpful during the booking process and did everything to make our staff perfect. We ordered room service for breakfast and it was quick and delicious. There was an issue with the billing details but the hotel staff quickly fixed the issue and refunded our stay - excellent customer service

Good location, with a very friendly staff. The room is big, with desk, mini bar, AC/heater, a nice closet, big and clean bathroom, and an excellent shower. The room service stops at 10pm, and in the mini bar they put only water, with no option to buy snacks or something similar. If you are planning to arrive late, bring some food or be ready to order something.
