Stunning hotel, friendly staff. Food was a bit cold and there was a bug in the food but they did not charge me. Beautiful views from the room and beautiful historic buildings with tunnels underneath.

We were there for two nights in November 2018 for business. Room was musty & unfortunately we brought home BED BUGS!! UGH! We are Lifetime Hilton Diamond Members and have been traveling for 19 yrs and this is a FIRST for us.

Really nice facility and a lot of history here, the grounds are well-kept. Location wise, it's kind of away from a lot of things, that was by design from the past I'm sure, to keep it "exclusive". The tunnels can be confusing but helpful on the cold winter mornings. Make sure you check out the sunrise at least once during your stay, it looks magnificent!

The property itself is nice. Laid out a bit strange as the reception is in one bldg, rooms in another bldg and restaurant/conference facilities in the 3rd. The hotel room bldg appears a bit dated and elevators a bit slow. The room (Room 529) was nice enough but found it odd there wasnt a working desk. Just a desk chair and a coffee table size table. Hard to get work done. The walls between the room was thin as I can hear the guy snoring in the next room.

I had an issue with billing, but the level of customer service was horrible. After speaking with the the night manager, and guest service at the corporate level, the situation was resolved at 2 hours. However the guest service manager on site, Chris Moore blew me off about handling the complaint and justified it by blaming my school district. Never accepting the hotel's negligence in not handling the paperwork correctly. And offering me a free stat another time with them, I'm no. When calling the corporate office for the forth time today, it was a complete joke and waste of my time. Find a hotel that actually cares about their guests and not just about their bottom line. Because apparently it's not here or at any Hilton if corporate was rude and unsympathetic.

I liked the location. I understand you can somewhat hear the highway, but it's a beautiful place. Some complained about the speed of the kitchen for dinner. However, I believe they were down to one kitchen at the time due to renovations? Either way, food was delicious and the service was great. Golf course was a little rough but it had been raining a lot before we arrived.

I stayed with my parents for one night. Because of Covid-19 there are some limits to the pool and other things, but overall, if you just need to stay for a night it's not bad. Some staff had masks on, but because not everyone did it was a little concerning. The food costs money, so don't expect free breakfast or dinner. The rooms are very neat and organized, however the only microwave is in the vending and ice area, and I was trying to find it for a while. The food, though very expensive, was also delicious. The layout was a little confusing. The most important part though is the view. The buildings were beautiful, and the courtyard was very pretty. It was one of the most gorgeous places I have seen. So basically, if you want to stay for just a night, I recommend it. For longer then a few days? Not sure.

The building exterior was Grand and the lobbies were beautiful. The rooms were also nice, clean, and updated. Service members were almost all friendly and accommodating. However, the hot tub was not hot. Just a few tweaks and this would be 5 stars.

This place is tucked away out of sight from everyday travelers and is lower traffic than normal hotels. The grounds are really well taken care of and beautiful all year round. As nice as the buildings, restaurant, and rooms are, it's the intangibles that make this hotel really stand out. The staff is a pleasure to be around and really care about making your stay the best it can be. For the price, the little things make it feel like your getting a bargain and they are military friendly.

This hotel is really elegant and historical. The price was very affordable and I was surprised because it looks like a high country club. They are family and pet friendly. The staff was professional and courteous. I definitely will be coming back, I highly recommend this hotel.

Meant to write this a year ago but since I just booked this hotel again for the Richmond Marathon, I figured better late than never! Every year my dad drives from Michigan to watch me run the marathon (he's a great dad!! It's usually freezing here!!) and the last two years we have stayed at Virginia Crossings. We are both big fans of American history, so we wanted a place that had a little history but wasn't the $500+ a night downtown Richmond was offering. I cannot say enough good things about this place - rooms are very comfortable (perfect for a great pre and post race sleep!) staff is exceptionally helpful, and the grounds are so beautiful. We had beers and a light lunch after the race at the Tavern - they have a great beer selection, ample seating, and all around a great atmosphere which says a lot considering the competition for bars in the Richmond area is stiff! We were also comped breakfast because of a very loud wedding party hanging out in the hallway the night before the race, and this too was exceptional - as an added bonus, the breakfast room had a number of interesting historical photos on the wall, and I believe a general manager was able to give me some history on them! It truly turns our yearly family trip into a vacation (including the 26.2 mile run haha).HIGHLY recommend!

Great location close enough yet far enough away from hustle & bustle. Beautiful grounds. I stayed in King room. Bathroom needed to be updated. Old showerhead and tub instead of walkin shower. Otherwise, I enjoyed my stay. Breakfast buffet was excellent!

OK, but not great experience. The buildings and facilities were clean and well-furnished. The event setup was beautiful. The servers in the dining hall were friendly. However, the food was pretty bland save for a few items (namely the omelettes). Some items such as the oddly salty hotdogs were completely inedible, and there were not enough of certain dishes for the people present (particularly the watermelon and desserts). Our phone did not work the first night and we had to have them come in and replace it. Housekeeping forgot to give us a number of items such as soap and towels, and every day we had to call them back for various necessities. The WiFi was very slow to the point that videos are unwatchable on it (the "premium" speed WiFi that lets you watch videos is $25 for 24 hours. No thanks). Overall it was not a bad hotel, but it was not the experience I was looking for.

Figuring out what building to check in at when it's dark and raining was next to impossible - but I honestly don't think it would have been much easier on a bright and clear day. The room was clean and the front desk receptionist was friendly which is why I'm giving 2 stars. We got in later than planned (around 8pm I believe) and were exhausted so we called for room service. The girl that answered was not very pleasant and it was clear she wasn't happy to help. About an hour later our food arrived and let me tell you, I've had better food from McDonalds. For the outrageous cost I expected to at least received warm and fresh food... Not stale buns (hard is an understatement) and extremely over-salted burger patties. We received a survey request after checkout to which we responded with similar information but never heard anything back. If you have other options for a place to stay, I suggest you do!

There is nothing neg I can say about this place. Its absolutely amazing, very clean, peaceful, safe, they will go out of there way to accommodate you and handle any problem you may have. Beds are comfortable and clean. Rooms are spacious and homey. Staff were fantastic! I will definitely come back when I visit VA again. Actually only issue was no microwave in rooms to reheat my sons food. But other than that it was great!!

What a lovely place to stay near Richmond! We were just looking for a place to crash for a night on a road trip and ended up here. I wish were would have been able to stay for another night and explore the grounds. The place is beautiful and well kept with historic charm. Our room was great and the beds had the best pillows out of any hotel I've stayed at (weirdly specific, I know)! In the morning, the breakfast buffet (not included) was 100% worth it - there was a huge, delicious selection of pastries, fresh fruit, and an omelet bar, and tons of southern classics. The best meal I had the whole weekend!! Finally, the staff were incredibly nice helpful!

My stay was ok ... I came early to check in around 2:30pm but understood i wouldn't be able to check in officially till 4:00pm , so i left and came back . I was still out at 4:30pm but was making my way back to the hotel , i called the hotel at 4:36pm to let them know i was on my way back and they said that my room was STILL not ready . So i didn't understand why but i said " ok " and hung up . Im a little younger then everyone else who probably works there so i had my mother call them to see about my room situation . I was driving all day and was hungry and beyond tired. I finally walk into the hotel and the woman Jennifer was still on the phone with my mother , after that she hung up and told me my room was ready . I guess when your 20 years older people take you a little more serious. She gave me a key to my room which was the wrong room . I walked into a room with a FULL size bed but i payed for a KING . I had to take all my stuff and once again go get my room key for the correct room. I finally get into my room and started to enjoy myself.

My room was really nice / beautiful bathroom / wonderful bed it was so comfortable / towels and the room was cleaned in between my stay which was greatly appreciated .

Arrived at night and since this was a new property for me I found it a little difficult finding which building was used to check in as there are a cluster of buildings used for registration and guest rooms and dining.

The staff was very friendly and gave me my arrival gift as a diamond and rather than the typical water consisted of some nuts and chocolate covered nuts and a handcrafted root beer although wasn't a twist-off cap I discovered in the room lol.

Imagine my surprise however when I walked into my room only to discover someone else was in that room already. I quickly exited and went back to registration where I received keys to another room and was unoccupied fortunately. The property seems nice although as others have mentioned could use a little more TLC especially in the elevator.

Room size is nice however it has no microwave and a small TV in comparison to most places. I do like the different layout compared to traditional hotel rooms and time will tell if this becomes a regular stop.

The property is beautiful, but the hotel experience was horrible. The heat didnt work for two days and it was freezing. The walls are really thin and you can hear conversations from rooms in the hallway. We had to call the front desk because there was a woman next door screaming "Stop Stop" for over a hour. When security came up we clearly heard them telling the guests our room number and informing them we made a noise complaint. Totally unprofessional! When we asked Mellissa at the front desk why they would do that, she was dismissive and said, "well, do you have any other complaints?". Just not a food experience. Parking was horrible. We couldnt find a place to park and had to drive around for quite a long time waiting for someone to move. Maybe this place is good for a conference, but not for a family or quiet stay at all!!!

The hotel and the landscaping is beautiful. The staff was polite and the room was inviting. The buffet breakfast is worth the money. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone staying near the Richmond area.
