Virgin Active Review

Great service setting up a gym membership. I go there specifically for the hydro pool which is great.
There is a lovely cafe too which has great food and costa coffee.

Friendly staff, cleanliness gone down hill of late. Numerous complaints but not much has improved. Cockroaches in changing rooms was a bit more than disappointing.

Great gym and pool. Shame about the price. Baby swimming lessons worth every penny though!

Good sized fitness centre with decent free weights area, good selection of machines and other equipment. Offers variety of classes, decent pool and sauna / steam room. Also has cafe area, beauty therapy and kids club. Plenty of car parking with easy access.

New showers which are excellent
More PT staff
New spa
Enhanced physiotherapist area
And soon a new medical area
But by far the biggest positive is the atmosphere built by people who are encouraged to strive and push to greater health
I find my PT classes are making that difference

Nuffield have made a huge impact and enhanced the social aspect of the gym

Nice and friendly gym. The spa and changing facilities desperately need a refit though.

Helpful friendly staff, always looks clean and tidy. Don't have to wait to use equipment as there is plenty for everyone and also has other facilities for facials, massages, sauna and steam room. Wide variety of classes to take part in and also has a ladies only section.

First time visit to Virgin Active, Preston. I went as a guest. What a fantastic club. The facilities are second to none and the staff are so friendly and helpful. The cafe serves nice food at a reasonable price and is very flexible on menu choice.

I worked with Mel who is a Personal Fitness Instructor for the gym. I have worked with may Pt's in the past but I must say she was far superior. Mel is so knowledgeable about her profession and is really enthusiastic and focused.

My only regret is, that Mel works solely for Virgin and doesn't freelance.
Truly awesome experience. Would definitely recommend Virgin Active at Preston and most certainly Mel.

Fairly large gym and pool complex with plenty of parking.
Pool has recently been upgraded and is now very clean and at a good temperature.
Weights and machine section is well stocked.
Steam room is awesome!

Be very careful to read the small print in any agreement because the management will be more than happy to point it out if you dare to complain about anything !!

Excellent facilities and staff with relaxed and purposeful atmosphere

Quickly becoming my regular place to spend week day nights. Solid and clean facilities. Definitely reaping the benefits. My only wish is that they could expand their opening hours to provide a fuller service.

It's ok, but preferred it when it was Virgin Active

Decent sized parking and great variety of facilities to satisfy various gym activities. Only down side I believe is related to the weights area not having multiples of kit, which can affect training especially during busy gym times.

Sub-standard for the price paid. Lacks many machines widely available at these cheaper gyms. Do something about it, and the star rating on this will increase.

I enjoyed the gym they have nice vegetarian food and the staff are always helpful and there is a good range of equipment. My one critique is that I was swimming doing lengths and a child jumped on me and the lifeguard didn t tell the parent to stop letting their child do that or ask me if I was okay and I felt uncomfortable in the men s changing room as I am body conscious (that is why I went to the gym) there was one changing room and old men and children where walking around and showing everything (I don t want to explain) and this is all the time as the gym is never quite (congrats though for being so successful)

Overall a good place to be for people who aren t very body conscious but I loved the tomato soup which they have at the weekend it has a good spicy kick.

For the price this gym offered nothing anywhere else does and even the equipment was no better than your usual council type gyms. When i visited for my free trial the changing facilities were dirty and for 6 weeks after the sales team pestered me via phone, email and text until i had to make a complaint stating i had said on the first call i wasnt interested in paying twice the amount of better gyms for an at best mediocre gym.

Great gym,wet room and sauna a must after a hard work out. Fab pool with Lane swim and kids pool. Bit over priced so 3 times a week a must to get your value for money....

Joined up a few days ago and they have a great range of equipment and classes very impressed, most impressed with the pool though I used to get really sore eyes with the chlorine at my old gym but this isn't a chlorinated pool it's UV filtered so it's doesn't reach your hair aswell!!

Average Council Gym is better than this place. Also certain gentlemans using Jacuzzi in trousers from tracks suit skipping shower time. Overpriced and not recommendet.

Friendly staff, plenty of classes, for all abilities & lots of equipment. They also do fitness mot's which you can have done every 3 months.

The classes are very well led. Always friendly and helpful staff. The pool is UV-filtered so less chlorine than others. Recently refurbished in the pool and showers.

I have no problem paying a higher price as long as the service deserves it! So far I am pleased with this place!

Awful customer service I used to be a member but cancelled membership back in July only for them to continue taking money each month they have admitted mistake but no apology and have since promised me that it would go back into my account on 3 separate occasions still waiting and when I call staff are nothing but rude on phone to you. Place is falling to bits and in need of good clean

Hygiene issues in the pool, sauna, steam room. Very few people wipe down gym equipment after use. Poor maintenance. Shower temperature fluctuates and pressure is poor.

Best gym in preston. Immaculate everywhere,friendly staff,nice atmosphere,good equipment.

Good friendly gym, equipment seems dated compared to other gyms. Needs a refurbishment. Update my review because they finally have enough equipment wiping facilities.. I've been going on about this for years.

Nuffield Health, previously Virgin Active but Preston along with other Virgin gyms have recently been bought out. Currently still in transition but already some improvements have started.

Great personal training. Good range of equipment including pool.

Used to be Preston Virgin when I was used to live in the area. In return, it was like coming home. Such friendly and helpful staff, good facilities kept clean and in good working order. The pool was a comfortable temperature and the post training treat in the cafe was great. Lovely atmosphere.

Great gym, friendly members & staff. A bit restricted on cardio machines since needing to implement social distancing but it's quieter than pre lockdown. Personally, I like that you can pay a higher monthly membership that means you're not More

Brilliant atmosphere from when you enter the gym from the reception you are greeted with a warm welcome as soon as you go upstairs you can straightway see the pt s helping out each individual who want to achieve there own goal and jus a very welcoming gym n leisure centre the sauna is always hot like your in Pakistan haha and the newly refurbished steam room really opens up your pours and it does feel like it s more powerful with the upgraded steam room well done to everyone who goes that extra mile at this Nuffield in Preston your all doin a brill job from Dhilawar Khan

Joined a couple of weeks ago and I'm so far very impressed with the facilities, cleanliness and the friendliness of the staff. I have only used the pool but it has never been overcrowded and there is lots of room in the changers too. Looking forward to taking our little one here when he/she arrives as the kids pool looks perfect for little ones too. Got a great deal with student discount, all staff are really friendly and helpful - the only thing i would say is that you need to book classes well in advance as they get very full very quickly, but I'm pretty sure this is the same wherever you go.

A well equipped gym and nice pool. My only complaint is their lack of flexibility when it comes to membership .
