Lovely pub off the beaten track in beautiful old marston village. The on tap rum infused beer was delightfully light and refreshing with the sweetness of the rum coming through. There was a childrens bouncy castle in their very large pub garden which my friend and I went on, which she then hilariously fell off of. 5 stars!

Cosy but spacious, friendly & welcoming pub. Been going here for years, either eating & drinking, playing board games or attending pub quiz on a Monday nite. Great place, lovely landlady and staff. Care very much and take pride. Consistent quality of service & food & drink. Happily recommend :-) thank you.

Food quite ok. Might be a good idea for the chips to be hot when served. None if my party expressed this to staff as it often ruins the atmosphere of the event.
So this review is aimed at assisting those in the pub to improve this aspect.
Staff very lovely and helpful. Many thanks to them .

Positives:

Positives:
The view and the company you bring.
Negatives:
Overpriced food of lower quality, orders messed up and meals not representing what is on the menu. Long wait in general and one meal arrived half an hour later then the other although ordered together and the que to order was 30min as well.
Conclusion:
Don't go there for more than a drink!

To be honest I feel its got more expensive than it should be. Food is expensive and appears to cater for the middle classes but solid selection of ales and other alcohol drinks. Nice sertting and garden area like I said the price is my only gripe.

Lovely pub on the river. If you call before hand to ask they will let you have your own picnic making it the ideal place to punt to from Cherwell boathouse. It takes about an hour for newbies to make it that far but will take you about half the time to get back.

At the time of our visit, the place was pretty busy. So much so, our order was messed up and forgotten about. They gave me a refund on what was ordered but not delivered. A discount and/or a sorry for the hourlong wait would have been nice.
The place is big and the outdoor "garden" stretches out quite a bit. So if you ordered food, don't go too far out as the staff will only shout your table number from the top of their hill. If you miss it, then you've missed it.
They had a bouncy castle when we were there, for the kids to play with, but please parents, mind your kids.
So if I where to be the pub, I'd definitely work on staff training and service to clients. And maybe rethink the whole approach to serving food as far back as the river side. Poor staff, runing up and down that moat.

Rude staff and terrible service, this pub has all the potential to be amazing - fantastic river location, lovely garden, parking and nice old pub but the manager was so rude to us we will never return.

Potential to be a fantastic pub but is let down by its staff and management. Today got overcharged for drinks but didn t realise until after paying - mentioned it to the bar staff and they said they were unable to check their transactions - basically they didn t care or attempt to rectify the problem.
Every time we go on a Sunday they seem to be sold out of roast dinners by about 2/3pm which is odd for a pub - surely they would make more if they always sell out!?
Have eaten here several times and the food is mostly decent but some has been quite average. It is certainly overpriced.
We have recently discovered a similar pub called The Perch which seems to be much better. We will most probably avoid The Victoria Arms and go to The Perch from now on.

We visited the Victoria Arms for the first time on Sunday.

The staff here are very warm and friendly.

The food is of the highest standard as are the drinks that are available.

We will definitely return here when we are next in Oxford.

We wish the whole team a very good new year.

Really bad experience: they are always under staff and the process to order is a mess. They don't plan the stock and after being at the pub for 30 min when you want to order the food they say that the kitchen is closed. And 4 families without food. Not customer oriented whatsoever. This has happened twice. I wouldn't recommend it at all.

Wonderful setting on the river with punts passing from Oxford to Islip. Great menu, tasty food and helpful, friendly staff. A very good place for children to run around outside with a bouncy castle.

Very rude staff. Always rushing you out!!! We got there ONE HOUR AND 15MIN before closing time on Thursday for a drink and the guy behind the bar told us aggressively that he s only serving the last round now, as they re shutting soon. (He told us this at 9.45pm , when they close at 11pm)
Then he started to aggressively tidy up around us when we were sitting down , as to hint us to leave !
Then he turned off the lights and dashed out as soon as we exited the door! We just felt so unwelcome and pushed out! So we decided to go RED LION instead where we were treated so nicely , eventhough they were closing in 30 min.
The same man has done it before when I went there during the day for lunch. Always huffing and buffing as we were placing the order, and told me to hurry up.
The pub is nice but you just feel uncomfortable with the way you are being treated.

Dropped in for lunch yesterday [18th May '17] with a colleague. Had the recommended pie. Really good [not quite my late mother's standard but that would be beyond perfection!] also the greens actually tasted of something. The service was helpful and attentive. We found a discrete corner for talking about confidential business. THANK YOU. I'll be back.

Great location, unfortunately the food is very average. I ate a vegetable curry that was horribly sweet, had no spice and very much tasted like it was straight from an Uncle Ben's jar. My sisters meal was similar, overly sweet and very artificial tasting.

Great location, lovely staff, excellent food and incredible gluten-free catering options for coeliacs, really fast service even when busy (if they don't forget your order), and fantastic selection of beers. Mooring from a punt is relatively easy and faff-free, only downside is the occasional aggressive swan...

Positives: this is a beautiful pub with an amazing garden.
Negatives: Very brusque, borderline rude service, especially during the week.
Food variable quality and pretty overpriced for what it is - used to go here a lot as it was my local and also noticed portion sizes varied wildly depending on how busy it is.
They are supposed to serve food until 9pm but they close the kitchen early a *lot*. I've been refused service before that at least five times, once as early as 8.15.

Great Wadworth's pub.

Great Wadworth's pub.
The Viccy Arms has an extensive garden which backs onto the River Isis. It is truly a beautiful place to sit!

It's lovely to be there in the summer, and you can even punt here, moor up and enjoy a glass of your favourite tipple before punting back.
They serve several real ales, and keep them well.
If you love pub gardens and live near Oxford, then this is one of our finest!

The location itself is amazing. Food is a bit pricey for its quality, but what caught my attention was the costumer service - I ask a blonde-pinkish hair (she was looking like she was on drugs) The staff were rude and had no manners with the costumers. If you want to put a high price for food and drinks, at least deliver good costumer service and hire sensible staff that are decent to attend the costumers. I would expect people who act like this working in drug dealing or some scummy pub but instead in such a lovely place with so much potential. Quite Sad really!
