We got a taxi to the pub under the impression (from the website) that they served until 9pm but we were refused food at 7:45, despite the fact they continued to serve food to others around us for another hour. We stayed and bought drinks and had some food delivered to the Riverside at which point we were asked to leave because we weren't allowed to eat food other than theirs there, despite having attemptes to eat theirs to no avail. Second time this has happened, not even worth attempting to eat here unleas you want to eat at 6pm. Drinks are alright though and the view.

Disappointing. Came for lunch with friends and had pre-booked meals but firstly two meals came very late because they forgot about them and secondly the salmon was very disappointing. It was quite pricey and was just a small piece of salmon with olive oil and a very small amount of cabbage. Other people's meals seem to have fairly generous portions for much cheaper so the salmon was particularly disappointing. They also didn't offer any kind of discount for the very late meals which I would have expected. Not sure I would come here again.

Sunday lunch time.... Just wanted a drink - 20 minutes wait... two people behind the bar. Why? So busy, and loads of angry fed up customers waiting. Spoils what could be a nice experience. Apparently it's always like that. Shan't bother next time.

Visited for lunch one recent sunny Saturday. Venue very busy with additional parking and much going on - Punch n Judy, Face painting, Live music etc. Location's superb - facing south to the sleepy banks of the River Cherwell. Plenty of outdoor seating to admire the view. Food tasty and enjoyable - although at a price. The big let down was - the service! Made polite conversation with the bar attendance when ordering. "Its a bit busy here today" I said to which he replied "That's a rhetorical question" with a patronizing tone then slammed our drinks on the bar and crabbed our money. I certainly did not come to The Vicky Arms to be intellectually challenged. I came here to simply relax. The service was no better when collecting our order (you need to go to a hatch If you are lucky enough to find it as little in the way of signs) to which the waitress then slammed our lunch at the collection point (seems to be a habit to slam things at The Vicky Arms) and not so much as a polite gesture such as 'enjoy your meal' or similar. In short the management really need to improve on customer service and general rapport. The only reason I give 3 stars and not less is because of location and, as said, food was enjoyable. The experience was not.

Consistently good quality food, drink and atmosphere. A pleasant place to relax whether you are alone or with company. The staff are all very friendly, and many stay for a long time which is always a good sign.

Part of a group booking today. We have had good group meals here before, but today wasn't up to the usual standard. The beef option was very disappointing being shredded beef in an very salty gravy, smothered on Yorkshire pudding making it rather soggy! Not a patch on normal roast beef, maybe you are trialing this option so this feedback may be useful. My Veggie daughter who has a mushroom intolerance would have just liked the roasties and veg with veggie gravy but this for some obscure reason did not seem possible, she went for the pasta option but said the portion size was very small. The sticky toffee pudding was very dry apparently, but this was remarked on and not charged for, so fair dos. On the positive side my brownie was scrummy and the fish and chips and chicken optionswere well received. A real shame, as I say we have been really pleased in the past, so perhaps just an off day

A nice country pub to stop at if you're renting punts from the Cherwell Boathouse. There is sometimes Morris dancing in the car park. You're not really supposed to bring your own picnic, but it is a good spot for a swim.

Slow service(waited for 45 minutes for a burger), disorganised and chaotic kitchen. My friend received her burger without the cheese. I received my burger which I paid 14 pounds for without any onion rings as promised in the menu. Waited for another 35 minutes but the onion rings never arrived... Total waste of money and extremely overpriced food. Only good thing is the garden and the views, however can't get past the fact that I paid 14 quid for a burger that didn't even have what was promised in it....

Long time since visiting here must 20 years or more, came see Jackie and Dennis who are frequent customers a lovely pub in a delightful setting. A very welcoming place the staff were more than obliging and we felt very relaxed, we did not eat here but the food looks extremely good and fairly priced, a good variety of beers and wines and spirits I can only praise the 6X which was spot on.

Beware! I went there for a beer. I paid with a 20 pound note but received change as if I paid with a 10 pound note. The manager did not apologise and said he would let me know if I was right after he checked the tilt at the end of day. He then said that his accounts were in order implying that I was wrong and he was right which is not the case. So here is one star from me. Well done!

Same as last year when we were here. Location lovely, staff helpful, but very underwhelming food for the price. I had fish and chips on the basis it's difficult to get that wrong. It looked great but turned out they had added a huge amount of raising agent to the batter so it was a tiny piece of fish surrounded by 80% tasteless, crispy batter. It came with a thimbleful if tartare sauce which had such a thick skin on top it had either been under the hotlights for a long time, or served a long time prior.

It was the sort of meal where if you were served it in Spoons you would shrug and think you get what you pay for but at the lunch prices charged here it frankly isn't good enough.

Also, still no bike racks which bearing in mind it is at the end of a pretty path off the Marston Ferry Road cycle path seems designed to put off passing trade unless you fancy playing cycle thief roulette by locking your bike to the wooden fence.

It's a pub where because of the location they don't have to do the food well, they just need to do it not badly. Still a way to go.

First time, not impressed with the roast we had.it opened at 12, so you would assume at 12.30 the food would be fresh. No!!!! Roast potatoes had been clearly cook earlyer and reheated.i couldn't cut into them. I say this because the meal was around 15.00 per plate. Defiantly not worth it..
