We came during the summer low season, so it wasn't too crowded and quite pleasant. The staff was super friendly, pretty well located, and decent amenities with 3 pools. The fitness facility is a little small, considering there were moments where it got pretty crowded as people crammed in to work out the few times I visited. As another reviewer noted, the rooms are a bit dated, but to me they were tolerable.

Worst part of the stay was that many mosquitos were lurking in the room (they keep coming in from outside), and I got quite a few bites at night during my stay. Also, my thin bed sheet was taken away for some reason halfway thru my stay, and I was only left with a thick heavy duvet to cover me at night, which was way too hot to sleep under in the summer (even tho we also turned down the A/C as low as it would go).

Other than that, the pool was nice, good was good, and overall we enjoyed our stay.

What an amazing place to stay. During our one-night stay we were graciously upgraded to a 2-bedroom bungalow which was stunning and minimally decorated with outstanding beds. The grounds are meticulously maintained and beautifully decorated. The highlight? The amazing experience of floating in the (24 hour accessible) heated pool and stargazing the clear Palm Springs skies.

Above all else, though, was the staff. Everyone we interacted with was exceedingly polite, helpful, and professional. It was a truly phenomenal experience thanks to everyone that works at the Avalon.

Not bland and beige like the big hotel chains

Not a top notch experience. We received no warning that they were hosting a wedding and blaring music late at night (thought Palm Springs had noise regulations?). The walls are thin and there was noise from almost all directions for hours. Basically a college dorm experience with nicer rooms. Certainly not a retreat or relaxing in any way.

Great boutique hotel just blocks from downtown. Fireplace in room was nice. Pools and services 5 star. A few comfort amenities could be added to room like a cozy area rug on tile floor, a nice chest of drawers for your clothes, and a few towel holders in bath.

If you've ever been home shopping, you've seen some bad flips. The kind where they cut corners so that they can spend as much possible on the "curb appeal", all the while ignoring all of the little (or big) things that need attention.
That's what the Avalon is - a bad flip. The paint colors are pleasing, but the application is sloppy as soon as you take more than a glance. The expensive-looking light fixtures are installed off center. The in-room tablet is a nice tech touch, but they skimped on the real expense of wiring the room for 21st century electrical needs.

The bathroom had no silver lining - The tiny shower has a cheap curtain and a peeling finish. At the price point, I was expecting a tub, but there was none to be found. There wasn't even a place to put our hand towel, so it stayed draped over the sink.

The staff is spotty at best. When we entered our room the first time, there was a wet towel on the floor from the previous guest. Our robes never got refolded. Pools are boasted, but after asking three times, we never did get our pool towels. Thankfully, it was hot enough that we could air dry. The valets (a nearly mandatory service that redirected our question when we asked about self-parking) were the only people we interacted with that seemed happy to be working there.

The ability to schedule when housekeeping comes through the app was nice. Make sure you use it so you don't come back to the room at 4PM to find everything still how you left it.

The location is very convenient, although I'm not sure PS is big enough that there too many inconvenient hotels.

We've stayed at the Avalon properties quite a few times now and never really had the best experience so we will not be returning again. The property is quaint and beautiful. Room was spacious but smelt extremely musty and as if someone hadn't flushed the toilet for a few days. Our bathroom light didn't work and there was no hot water.

For breakfast, we dealt with a super nice guy but our order was mixed up 4 times. I'm not getting into it but it was a hassle. We generally get a 4pm check out because of our "status" but had to check out at Noon because of Covid. That's understandable except that it didn't apply to a nicer hotel the night before down the road. It's all small stuff really but when the rooms are $350 a night, I feel the caliber of the hotel and customer service should be a lot higher.

Staff very friendly and attentive.
The room are big and very pretty.
The pools are amazing.
The peloton on the gym is a real plus.
The only thing to be improved is that the personnel should take off the towels of the seats after a certain amount of time.
Some guest put their towels and left for hours. Not cool for the others.
The food and drinks are really good.
I really recommend this place of heaven in Palm Springs.

This is an old apartment building that s completely renovated. For me it s not charming in any way. It s a giant apartment with new paint and tile. It s not like like a cookie cutter hotel either. The staff is amazing but I equate the $$$ for this place vs memories of some old apartment building I probably lived in the 80 s. Should you be old enough to remember the 80 s it s unlikely you will find it charming or romantic in any way. It s big and has a kitchen and perfect for a bachelorette or guys golf trip. Your next to a busy street so creating noise is not an issue. On a different trip at a different stage in my life it would be five stars because of the great staff at the front desk. They deserve a lot of credit

Visiting this place twice a year, already had like 4 vacations there. We accidentally ordered online through booking and they charged me the full amount even though I cancelled like 2 minutes after the accured mistake. I called this morning again to cancel my charge, I faced tony ( ) over the phone, which was not helpful at all. Said that there is no manager that can help me and that he cannot cancel my charge. This is rediculosly funny to do such thing over a honest mistake and especially when we spending thousands of dollars there every year. I'm shocked!

It was very quiet and peaceful. The grounds were maintained beautifully and everything was very clean. I loved how they separate an adult pool and children's pool. Excellent service from everyone as well! My girlfriends and I had a fantastic time!

Beautiful hotel grounds, but the pool is over-chlorinated and turned our hair green. We spent a day at the pool and 3 out of 3 blondes ended up with green hair! When we notified the evening hotel staff, the initial response was unprofessional and quite rude. The morning front desk staff was apologetic and refunded our resort fee and food/drinks from the day, which was a relief. However, two days later, my hair is still green. In addition, the bungalows are quite old and the AC didn t work (we called and it was fixed fortunately), it smelled like sulfur, and we had to ask several times for extra bedding. For $500/night, it was not worth it.

Service was great - amenities were amazing! Momo shampoos and conditioner which is the brand only found at my hair salon in West Hollywood. The staff went out of their way to help and greeted us with drinks upon arrival. Just don t order the pancakes for breakfast.

The grounds are very pretty and charming, however, quality for price is horrible. Looking at the photos online when booking, is very misleading. This hotel is run down and out dated. Only a third of it has been renovated. The majority of the rooms either have no closet or no dresser. No mirror except behind the bathroom door. There are no hooks to hand your towel in the bathrooms and no counter space. The water from the shower was either scalding hot or freezing cold. No middle ground temperature. When asking the maid for an extra towel she responded with a gasp!!! Who has this kind of service and accommodations for such an expensive price? I had the eggs Benedict and the Canadian Bacon was 100% fat! Not exaggerating either! When notifying the waiter he merely responded with, "Oh ya, many people have complained about it but they just keep buying it". Incredible! The staff ignore what you say to them, the manager doesnt care, and the customer is ripped off. We will never step foot in this "Luxury Boutique Hotel" again! I would have gotten more for my money at Motel 6.

We arrived and we're underwhelmed immediately. The check in staff were rude and unhelpful. Bellman as well. Our room wasn't ready until 4:30pm, and when we got to it, we were very disappointed. The room was supposed to be their deluxe

Great care and service by all the staff. Hotel room was spacious and made me feel like I was in the Marilyn Monroe era. The food and wine selections at the restaurant would make any foodie think they were in heaven. Really loved my stay and will go back again.

Great spot, just pretty expensive. There are places that are cheaper that are almost this cool, but hey - you get what you pay for.

The property (outside) is gorgeous and well maintained that s the positive.
The negative: While I got a great deal on Hotel Tonight, my room was not reflective of a four star resort. The room was more reminiscent of an upgraded Motel 6 with paper thin walls it sounded like I was sleeping on a loading dock. I ve stayed at many hotels in Palm Springs that have left me impressed and had high hopes for the Avalon. Sadly, this was a let down.

Inconvenient service and definitely overpriced for a room that look like a motel. The pictures don't even represent the actual condition of the room... disappointed! It needs an update asap.

I have never felt so at home and welcomed! From the valet attendants, especially Vincent, to the front desk associates to the bartender, Nicholas, who so graciously tended to us two days out of the 3 that we were there. All members of the staff that we encountered were so professional and exuded customer service. There was never a gap in service, better yet, they went above and beyond. I wanted to take the time to recognize them but THANK all of the staff of the Avalon!! I cannot wait to come back.

Nice little hide a way in palm springs. The restaurant is small. The food was really good. The rooms with kitchens are a bit high. Off season around $400. peak season $600,a night. The staff are very nice and courteous. You can just go for the food you don't have to stay at the hotel to eat at the restaurant or a few drinks at the bar.

Its a shame because it was one of my better places to stay until now!! A lot of hidden costs, i.e., spa fees. which includes gym and valet parking. When I questioned it, hotel clerk just said its automatically billed to you. You will actually pay for something even if you don't use it. Watch for switch and bait: quote you one price over the phone and when you check in, its another. Stayed Saturday, July 4 weekend, and all pool lounges and towels were taken many from non guests. So why pay the exorbitant price when you can just basically hang out pool side for free. Lastly room service was very slow if not existent and hotel clerks were overwhelmed and not prepared.
Palm Spring is a lovely place to visit with many beautiful and more affordable places to stay, just not this one.

My daughter's recent wedding was made unforgettable by this beautiful hotel & its setting. The entire hotel staff was exceptionally accommodating & helpful. The layout of the bungalows & rooms afford the guests such a relaxing stay. I will return again.

Sorry to say that the current condition of the hotel is not worth anything do not use your vacation money at the Avalon. 1, staff are impersonal and not helpful at all,.2. rooms and suites are dilapidated, and not clean (diarrhea on wall).too many noisy workers cleaning grounds, 4.hot tubs cold, 5. They close pool areas for other uses that deminish your value, 6. Pool areas no longer allow floats, 7. food service over priced and not better than Denny's, I'm done.... I wish I could get my money back !

This is an AMAZING place! The staff goes over 110% to make sure you are taken care of. Could not of asked for a better place to stay in Palm Springs for my birthday. They treated me like royalty knowing it was my birthday get away. I will definitely be back. Thank you all soooooo very much for making this a memorable stay.

Beautiful hotel with a great location just off the busy area of PS. Great pool areas to choose from with on site spas as well. Service was what you'd expect from a hotel of this caliber: valet very responsive, baggage service, mini bar. The room was a little odd, with a shower separated from the bathroom area and sparsely furnished.

Spent four nights here Feb 2-6th, hotel grounds were lovely, very peaceful, hotel was quiet which was great, just off the main Street with everything in walking distance.

We stayed in a Bed Room with a nice little balcony over looking the middle pool.

I enjoyed the water stations set up throughout the grounds as well. Staff were friendly and kept the property clean. Enjoyed a complimentary coffee each morning.

I would stay here again, I just want warmer weather next time!

Lipstick on a pig. This hotel is not what they advertise. At first the hotel looks nice, and the rooms certainly do in photos, but up close, it's extremely old, and despite Marriott taking over a few years ago. It has essentially never been updated. The managers don't seem to care and the service level is the worst of any Marriott/ Starwood/SPG hotel I've probably ever stayed at. The bathrooms are disgusting and bath tubs have paint peeling. The water from the sink came out brown (so they offered me the "free" bottled water in the room). The floors are painted white, so they look dirty. Reserving a suite and No turn down service.. and they are charging over $600 per night?! I guess I'm the stupid one. See my photos posted of what the bathroom really looks like, and then how they market the hotel room

Fantastic boutique hotel with great restaurant and bar. Poolside dining is lovely and the servers are excellent. The decor is Glam without feeling precious. Love the family pool! Fabulous cabanas, pool delivery for food and drinks. It's an excellent, sophisticated hotel in the heart of PS.

I had posted a previous review of this hotel. I was also very concerned about the cleanliness of the pool. I developed a stomach bug after about 24 hrs at the hotel. I had not eaten anything out of the ordinary. I am concerned that staff are not asked to shower prior to entering the pool. The pool is salt water with some chlorination, but that doesn't kill cryptosporidium.

Terrible experience with everything. The rooms are old and not maintained well, the service is spotty, and it's super overpriced for what you get.

It's also a hotel that doesn't welcome families with kids, but I don't recommend it to anyone. There are so many better options for the money and even cheaper.

It's a run down motel pretending to be a luxury resort. Stay away!

Beautifully maintained classic sprawling property with several pools and spas. It perfectly captures casual mid century grace and style. The service was superb. The rooms are smallish but nice. The only thing that I would wish for is a chair and desk. We only had one meal at the restaurant, but it was great. The property is only one block from downtown Palm Springs. The only thing that I did not like was the $35 per night resort fee that I was not aware of. Tacked on fees are tacky. I would go back again however.

Great little hideaway resort just a block west of Downtown Palm Springs' main drag. Self-contained villas have everything you need for a home-like feel. This is a rebranding/new ownership from the previous Viceroy and there's still some updating that can be done, but you won't have too many complaints should you decide on a getaway to the Avalon.

I stayed at the Avalon when it was a Viceroy Hotel. I m sad to report my experience this time around wasn t as charming as the last time I stayed at this hotel. My husband and I chose to spend our first wedding anniversary in Palm Springs. Our plan was to relax and enjoy Palm Springs. Upon our arrival, we were placed in a regency room, 328, near the family pool and open event space. The door and window provided very little protection against the ambient noise and we were awoken very early several mornings in a row by the sounds of delivery trucks, trash trucks, and other hotel guests. The hotel hosted weddings and/or parties two nights in a row and the music was so loud we couldn t sleep. We tried turning on the tv to drown out the sound, but nothing worked. When we spoke to the front desk, they said to call whenever the sound was too loud. It seems the hotel shouldn t host parties if they can t prevent disruptions to the other hotel guests. They also should have had better control over the sound levels coming from the DJ s. The music was so loud the guests were yelling at each other after the party/wedding was over. We were so disappointed with the quality of the hotel room and the hotel service we cut our trip short and went home a day early. We have been loyal SPG and Marriott members and the only thing the hotel staff offered to do at checkout was to remove the daily resort fee of $35. I m very disappointed with our experience at this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone we know. I highly recommend the hotel look into new windows, doors, and insulation for their rooms.

Delightful bouquet hotel and restaurant. They just rolled out a new menu, everything all three of us had was delish. We were intrigued with the banana bread on the menu. We decided to share that after we quite satisfied with brunch. Oh, yummmmm, that was a delight to our taste buds. Great service, relaxing atmosphere, and tasty food, what a great combination. We will be back.
