Cookie Jarmon Review of Viceroy Hotel Palm Springs

I stayed at the Avalon when it was a Viceroy Hotel. I m sad to report my experience this time around wasn t as charming as the last time I stayed at this hotel. My husband and I chose to spend our first wedding anniversary in Palm Springs. Our plan was to relax and enjoy Palm Springs. Upon our arrival, we were placed in a regency room, 328, near the family pool and open event space. The door and window provided very little protection against the ambient noise and we were awoken very early several mornings in a row by the sounds of delivery trucks, trash trucks, and other hotel guests. The hotel hosted weddings and/or parties two nights in a row and the music was so loud we couldn t sleep. We tried turning on the tv to drown out the sound, but nothing worked. When we spoke to the front desk, they said to call whenever the sound was too loud. It seems the hotel shouldn t host parties if they can t prevent disruptions to the other hotel guests. They also should have had better control over the sound levels coming from the DJ s. The music was so loud the guests were yelling at each other after the party/wedding was over. We were so disappointed with the quality of the hotel room and the hotel service we cut our trip short and went home a day early. We have been loyal SPG and Marriott members and the only thing the hotel staff offered to do at checkout was to remove the daily resort fee of $35. I m very disappointed with our experience at this hotel. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone we know. I highly recommend the hotel look into new windows, doors, and insulation for their rooms.
