I had a very comfortable stay. The hotel staff were friendly, hospitable and attentive. The grounds are beautifully groomed and peaceful. The room I stayed in was clean and they make it easy to request various services (cleaning, dining, travel) or anything else you may need during your stay with your own small tablet. The location is walking distance from downtown Palm Springs, with close access to shops and restaurants, and is 10 minutes from the airport. I spent most of my time at the adult pool which was well managed and kept clean every day. The hotel restaurant offered a variety of fresh food and refreshing drinks. I would highly recommend staying here to friends looking for a romantic getaway or girls trip, and plan on returning myself.

This an older property. But it makes up with the service imparted to the guests. The king size bedroom is on the smaller size and the suites are good sized. Except it costs about $40 more per day. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean. The property is located about 3 blocks from the Palm Canyon Dr and most restaurants are within 15 minutes walking time.

Loved my stay here, the customer service was excellent and they are even pet friendly! They have 3 pools and only one allows children so if your not a fan of small kids it's easy to get away. Also did I mention free sparkling wine upon check in!

The Avalon is a great option when staying in Palm Springs during COVID. There is a lot of open spaces and it's a bit spread out with a few pools.
The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the ridiculous prices once you are there make it slightly less enjoyable. To get a latte in the lobby in the morning it is $7.33 and that is without tip. I opened a water bottle inside the hotel room- there was no sign saying I'd be charged so I thought it was complimentary. Got a charge on my credit card for $10.75 for that water bottle after checkout. Little things like this make me want to explore other options when visiting the desert again.

Good location but kind of 70s style feeling in the rooms. Needs an update. No concierge level or complimentary breakfast for platinum elite members, not cool for that price, plus $40 resort fee per day, not cool either. Overall ok but not great.

We stayed at this hotel in June during the covid pandemic and I'm happy to say that the entire facility felt clean and safe. The staff was incredibly helpful and willing to accommodate to any needs that were requested as fast as possible. You can tell that the property is older but Avalon did a great job of updating and renovating it to feel modern. The room had a guest services tablet in it which made ordering room service, linens, soaps, and other stuff super easy. The best part was that this hotel was quiet and peaceful. It's off of the main road and it isn't a massive resort so the noise levels were way down. There's 3 pools at the hotel, 2 of them are adult pools and 1 is a kids pool which is separated from the other areas, so we never heard any kids running around or splashing in the pool, it was a welcomed feeling. The food at the hotel was DELICIOUS. We ate several meals there and not a single item was bad. The king size bed in our room so was so comfortable and the linens and pillows were nice and fluffy, we didn't want to leave the bed.

If you're looking for a quiet get away during this chaotic and stressful time, spending a few nights at the Avalon will make you forget about everything thats happening for a little bit. It's a great escape

It s a cute property with what COULD be a well ran hotel. Although we had many issues (leaf blowers outside our room at 6:50 on a Saturday, a 8am Sunday wedding and numerous billing issues). Our one bedroom suite has a very dated bathroom (bathrooms shown on websites are NOT what are in the majority of the rooms). We come to the desert at least 2-3 times a year and won t be coming back to this Bonvoy property.

Pet - we love dogs but in same time we do not want to step on dogs waste. We saw dog waste in TV e grass area next to the main pool also when we had breakfast we saw a dog peed on next table legs.
Front desk - they called at us at 7:30 am when we are in deep sleep to tell us that the room down stairs complained that we are drooping sounds coming from our room while we are sleeping and last time we left the bed was 5 hours ago.
I told theM usually you should someone to check and if hear any noise then knock our door.
I believe the building is so old and many noise when they stay in lower level.
Avoid this resort

We just hung out at the pool and ordered some drinks and food. Staff was very friendly and food was tasty, but took a very long time to get the food. The waiter did offer us some free champagne because of the long wait though.

Old Palm Springs, gracious staff, good food - hard to find something that wasn't spicy, though. Smaller 'polite' (?) portions, which is why I ordered 2 items... one of my companions seemed disappointed in her choice, but not because the food wasn't good, just wished she'd made a different choice. A nice, lovely lunch stop on our way from Arizona to Ontario, Ca.

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The property is beautiful! I enjoyed the family pool very much. Would definitely come back. Gave 4 stars though because the bathrooms definitely do need to be updated. Also, maybe the ac units. While the room did get cool down, it took forever to do so. A cheap motel 6 room would cool off instantly. Probably has to do with the location of the ac, but it was still wonderful regardless.

We haven't stayed here yet but we just love the place! Tucked away on Belardo Rd in Palm Springs. The staff is very friendly and helpful here. We're planning to have dinner in the restaurant here in Xmas Day. It's a very cozy boutique feeling atmosphere.

I went to Chi Chi at Avalon for dinner and drinks with 6 other girls while celebrating a bride to be. There was one other couple at the small restaurant so we basically had the place to ourselves. It was a late dinner, and the off season, so the entire town was relatively quiet. Service was fantastic and we all rally enjoyed the food. I recommend the Brussels sprouts Caesar.... So good!! And the chocolate mousse was to die for.

The Chi Chi restaurant and grounds are lovely here. The staff are exceptional and always happy to help with any requests. This is a dog friendly hotel and ideal for a get away with your fur baby. The adult pool had many owners and their pups chillaxin and we had no issues at all. Our room could have been better but other then that it was brilliant.

Huge fan of the property! Stayed in a 1 bedroom suite (not bungalow) which was spacey and perfect - beyond actually. Next time I'll stay in a bungalow. But the pool options were great, service was excellent, and proximity to the main Palm Springs drag made it such a great stay. One tip, though, is skip the valet fees and just park on the street yourself! :)

Loved it! Such a cute and cozy place! Wife already wants to return. You think its smaller and simpler from the website when booking ... then you arrive to a lush and relaxing and quaint yet fairly big property, it's just hidden from view. Awesome grounds with several pools and jacuzzis and fountains and greenery. Very pretty place. Could be in Maui. Upgraded to a 1br bungalow suite and it was Amazing! Huge. Could spend a week or month here. Has all you need in a casita. Had drinks at the chi chi with friendly server Josh. Breakfast in the morning was very good food and service. Wonderful little spot. Will be back!! A++++

The hotel was small but lovely. The staff was friendly, knowledgable about the area, courteous, and nicely dressed as well. We enjoyed all the service and amenities it had to offer: outdoor pools, jacuzzi, steam room, and bicycles as well. We didn't try the restaurant attached to the hotel, Chi Chi, but heard the ravishing of the diners there. We had a wonderful time and would definitely be back for more.

Not the place to go if you are looking for a private, exclusive and restful experience. The pool was 2 steps from my door, loud music, people sunbathing and partying day and evening in which it felt like it was inside my room. Food was ok, but none of the TVs in the bungalow were working on arrival. Staff was friendly and responsive.

Lovely hotel with a personal touch, staff are amazing, from manager to bellhop. Not a new building, so don't expect a shiny rain shower, nor is there 24 hour full room service (water and nachos are the menu) however rooms have everything in there, including a mini bar, and clean.

This place has outstanding service. Everyone is looking to go out of their way to help you. The location is fantastic and they have a very cute restaurant/bar by the pool. The rooms could use a bit of updating, perhaps new windows, as you can hear garbage trucks early in the morning.

We stayed here for a wedding back in December. The wedding was lovely and everything went off without a hitch. Great venue! From a hotel guest perspective I was pretty disappointed. The cost of the hotel is around $300-$400 per night. The rooms have not been well maintained and any updates were done poorly. The chandelier lights in our room were installed crooked and they weren t even secured properly to the wall. The bathroom fan didn t work well and after one shower the bathroom took forever to cool down. I understand it s a historical hotel and there our limitations to what they can do, however I wouldn t recommend staying here. Even if you re attending a wedding there are several options within a few minute walk that would likely offer a much better value.

A great property with wonderful staff. The location is a block away from everything in Palm Springs. The grounds are wonderful and make unwinding so easy. We look forward to our next stay.

An amazing environment and experience for dinner. Lit only by candles and pool lights, it's very romantic. Our server was amazing and even though he said he was new, it didn't show one bit. We will definitely be back! They had great selections for our picky crew, everything from steak to fish to entree salads.

Stunning hotel, pools stunning, staff excellent and very friendly, mini bar in room. Highly recommended. Only negative comments is that we had no coffee facilities in the room.

It's a great place to visit for a weekend. If you have young children I would not recommend this place, as it is mostly occupied by a mature crowd. It has 3 pools around the property and the landscaping is incredible. The resort is also extremely clean and the spa is delightful. The in-house restaurants are devine for all three meals of the day. I would definitely recommend this place any time of the year and to anyone.

There were no appliances (i.e. refrigerator or microwave or safe) in the room. Not even an ice bucket. One tiny waste bin in the bathroom. The shower had no door, which would be fine if it didn't flood the whole bathroom. The shower head itself was so disgusting I had to clean it before I could attempt a shower and feel any kind of clean from it. The worst thing of all was how the staff behaves as though you are staying in a halfway house with a curfew. They have security people roaming the grounds harassing the guests for no reason all night. They literally chased my guest and myself back to my room to try and prevent me from having them over for a visit in my room. Absolutely unsatisfactory for a room that was as outrageously priced as it was. Also, the room decor was gaudy and extremely outdated.

Loved the staff; the Bartender- Harrison, our waite people-Jasmin, Natalia & Melissa, the Valet's-Alan & David! Everyone was over the top in professionalism and friendliness (even the guests). The Avalon was clean, fresh and quaint! I loved passing through the lobby to smell the infused oils!! Will definitely recommend and revisit. I'll never forget this Birthday Surprise, or the friends we made from Sydney, Australia and celebrated my special day with! I'll never forget how special everyone, (especially, Harrison David and Jasmin), made me feel!

It looks very different from the images you can find online. The rooms are worn out and not maintained well. For the price they want, it's a complete disappointment. They put an $8 bottle of water but no glasses were found in the room you have to call for everything, even things like glasses, utensils or hot water.

The hotel is known for its strict regulations, but the first thing I noticed upon arrival is marijuana smell throughout the property. But then when my kid was having a hard time going to sleep, a guy from reception called several times threatening to evict us in the middle of the night. You got to be consistent with the rules.

Overall, if you expect a luxury hotel, it's not. It's rather a dirty motel pretending to be something better. Don't stay there and go somewhere else.

We stayed at the Avalon for three nights during Christmas. The hotel is very nicely located, less than a five minute walk away from Palm Canyon Drive (where all the restaurants and shops are). It's in a quiet area though, so you won't be bothered by noisy bar-goers. The staff was very welcoming and professional. Valet parking is included in the resort fee, which was very convenient. The resort is small-scale, but very pretty. The only reason to rate of four rather than five out of five is the fact that the room had a few things that need improving. A few examples; there was a huge crack in the mirror, because they screwed a light fixture on it. The bathroom sink was quite outdated, and the shelves were not straight. The blinds did not darken the room very well and the front door also wasn't sealed properly, letting in light (and it made me wonder what that means heat-wise in summer). The TV was probably ten years old, and too small. If those things would be updated/fixed (which doesn't seem that hard) I would certainly stay there again. One other thing I want to highlight is that the hotel is very dog-friendly. We had our black lab with us, and the were very welcoming to both, which we appreciated a lot.

I actually didn t spend the night and just used the spa and pool area but I had a really lovely time
There and will definitely try to stay the next time I m in PS. It s very tranquil and calm, not very big and not a party atmosphere. Seems like a nice romantic place to stay as a couple.

We stayed there for a friends wedding. It was the best hotel stay ever! The rooms were very clean, modern, and service was wonderful. A special shoutout to John at chichi restaurant who made a special effort to make sure our group had dessert even after the kitchen had closed. The staff went above and beyond.

I'm the owner/photographer for Tayler Ashley Photography and I had a wonderful experience shooting here! The Avalon Hotel + Bungalows is absolutely beautiful and they provide such an amazing experience for the couple. Anyone who gets married here is very lucky!

This place was a great disappointment! It looked better on the website! We stayed there last month for my friend's daughter's wedding. The room was not clean nor our so called "balcony/patio" & I got bit by a spider two nights in a row. I made the front desk staff & manager aware of the situation & they didn't do anything about it. I ended up in the ER at Palm Springs Hospital & on antibiotics for 8 days..Their so called, "housecleaning" also threw away my husband's blood pressure & diabetes medication which he left on top of the TV table, while we were gone I have been calling the manager & area manager everyday & they haven't had the courtesy to return my call. I would think twice before staying there! The bill on top of everything, was outrageous! Other guests had all kinds of complaints too. This has never happened before to us.

ok so we spent 2 days at this property. booked direct @$160 per night in January. room was clean and bedding crisp and neat. the hotel is circa 1950's. my room had a newer furnishings and nicely remodeled bathroom. however the fixtures were classic 1950's with a chic retro look. staff was awesome. breakfast at the on-site restaurant was excellent. I would stay again

Really enjoyed our time here. Our room was very spacious and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was nicely updated but kept with the overall feel of the place. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. Every thing was very clean. We were impressed by how clean everything was even the table and chairs on the balcony.
The food was amazing. The breakfasts were delicious and were surprised by the good sized portions.
The bathroom had plenty of room for our toiletries. The room does have a mini bar but there was enough room in the fridge to put our waters and refreeze our ice pack.
The room could use more light and could have used a dresser or more storage to put away some of our stuff but the room has a lot of open space to spread some of our stuff out. Certainly not enough to lose a star over.

We stayed here in the upgraded suite with living room couch and kitchen. The overall low level building style is in line with most of the other hotels in the area. It's definitely a boutique hotel with a clean white stylized finish. Very intimate setting with very plush and premium bedding. The only complaint would be that the shower is an open style "prison like" layout. Also close to main street so there's some road noise. The building itself is clearly dated, but decor is modern. Restaurant/bar quality is good, though rather pricey for what it is. 4.5*
