I had to rearrange the room to be able to open my suitcase. The bathroomsink is as big as my ipad. Unable to put my toileteries bag. Never experienced such a small shower. The bar only offers 2 kinds of beer. No fridge in the room, no room for it. Anyway this is a room of a guesthouse not a 4star hotel.

We stayed here for the valentines special evening. What a wonderful experience. Lovely food, staff were so kind and welcoming. Would stay here again and again.
I am giving 2 stars simply because of how hot the room I was in was. It felt like a sauna. Could not open the window and all I had was a fan which was circulating hot air. I was up at 2am and could not go back to sleep due to the heat. All rooms need AC.
The bathroom had a few hairs and had a funny smell coming out of the toilet.
On the positive, the hotel has good facilities, service and food. The breakfast is amazing!
Brilliant and lovely staff. My sister and I brought our Dad from Northern Ireland for The Hampton Court Flower Show. We travelled to the show on the boat provided by the Lensbury - very relaxing. Nothing was too much bother for the staff and a special mention for Noel. Luxurious surroundings and lovely food. Thank you all.
Lovely seeing, right next to Teddington Lock. Attended a conference organised by the company I work for. Nicely prepared meeting rooms with people on hand to help with AV. Good coffee and biscuits!. Buffet lunch was ok - nothing to write gone about. Didn't check out the rest of the hotel hence the average rating.
Really great customer service. Beautiful, spacious clean room. My Husband was very impressed with the Gym. Only let down was the pre packed breakfast. Would go back when Spa is open
Really nice place to stay by Teddington Lock. Lovely rooms, some with views of the river, attentive staff very nice breakfast and you can sit outside when the weather is warm. In between Twickenham and Hampton Court Palace so a good place to stay if you are visiting either, it also has a popular spa, tennis courts and conference centre.
The chlorine level was so high it burnt the hair on my brother's legs! He was told it was fine yet the kids in lessons were coughing and his skin became very itchy. Then after removing his wetsuit, there were lines where the chlorine had burnt his hair. Never seen anything like it in my life and can't believe this how poorly run this business is. I'm astonished they allowed anyone in there, let alone kids. Disgraceful. Then when it was mentioned to the deputy general manager, he shouted across the poolside in an aggressive manor "don't even think about telling the parents". Cannot believe it! I work in a health club myself and this is absolutely outrageous. If the chlorine is too high, close the pool or get your building services to sort it!
Great hotel in a beautiful location. Gym, pool and spa are amazing. Lots of sports on offer. Staff are friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and bed comfortable. This is also a sports club so many families visiting for the day to partake in various sporting activities. I ve already booked my next stay.
Fantastic location and excellent facilities. Hopefully the recent outright purchase from Shell by the Livingstone group won't be the precursor for 14 detached executive homes with River views in the lovely grounds
Was lucky enough to go there free as a family in 60s and 70s as Shell used to own Lensbury club and my Dad worked for Shell. Loved the huge statued lions, snooker, mini golf, squash, table tennis, TV room, old fashion lounge, swimming pool, bar. Goid memories.
Stayed one night as going to Hampton court palace festival. Easy to get to lovely quiet location in teddington right on the river. Clean well kept rooms and spacious and airy lounge/ dining room
A mixture of "Shell" colonial and modern sports/spa delightfully situated near Teddington locks. The main restaurant struggles with appropriate service levels at times though.
I struggle to understand the hotel 4-star rating, it is a good 3-star for the main building and a bad 3-star for the annex. While it has indeed been refurbished, rooms in the annex are pocket-size and bathroom closet-like. I could hear my neighbor's different businesses in the bathroom. Internet connections are awfully slow and censoring. No mini-bar/fridge. No water bottles in room. While the breakfast buffet seems abundant, a closer look (e.g. the very limited choice of breads, the absence of a decent expresso machine) makes it fail passing anywhere above the 3-star bar. The conference center is decent, again not 4-star. No power plug on tables (forget non-UK plugs). Overall, not bad, far away, but do not expect a 4-star experience. Only the grounds are shining: the very nice garden and proximity of the Thames. A 3-star disguised as a 4-star...hence my disappointment and low rating.
I appreciate you responding - my review was more of disappointment from my friends who I felt responsibility for. I continue to be a big fan of the Lensbury as is a local gem. Thank you
Unprofessional staff, they have no clue in running a hotel, they kept on charging my credit card after my check out ! And much more annoying stuff, what a waste of a nice property !
I stayed at The Lensbury after the Twickenham Marriott overbooked me. Fortunately, it was a pleasant surprise. The room was well equipped and the AC worked well. Good bathroom and really nice breakfast. Front desk and breakfast staff were great.
This hotel is surrounded by beautiful grounds and is full of things to entertain the children. The rooms were comfortable and service was very friendly and helpful. The room service was disappointing (pizza delivered was inedible) but this did not detract from the fabulous weekend we spent here.
I slept so well in the bed here I actually missed my alarm, that's how good the beds were here.
The estate Is immaculate and what you would expect for the price and the stars it has.
Day staff were very helpful and willing to accodate practically any need, however the night staff was grumpy and unhelpful, expecially as it was my first time and I was not aware of the service they provide after hours, he even added a tray charge which is very alien to me, as I've never encountered this at any hotel with any stars in any country. This charge for his laziness to bring something to me.
This charge was removed by the checkout staff, when I questioned it.
Recap - great accommodation, great beds, great day staff, all ruined by the night staff.
Have stayed here numerous times and everytime always very welcoming and accommodating.lovely rooms clean and spacious.comfortable beds.great food in bar and restaurant with great service.thank you all at the lensbury for another great stay.
Got massive suite with amazing views. Only 2 stars because we were disappointed by the staff during breakfast, really arrogant and rude waitresses, not the service expected from 4 stars hotel. First morning on Saturday, the breakfast room was messy, the waitress with dark hair was unprofessional & said I guess it is clearly your first time in our hotel that s why you don t know you need to sit in the setup tables while nobody was at the entrance welcoming guests or telling them how it works! the second morning the manager was around which made a difference as it was less messy. The waitress asked 3 if she could take one of our plates where we still have food until we gave up and said ok. Staff attitude has big impact on customer experience so definitely needs to be addressed. I will formally complain.
Went to view the gym. They didn t make me feel at all welcome. They said they would call me, but didn t. I arranged to go back a second time, hoping to join, but was just given a pass to view alone and never heard back from them. It was suggested to me by a member that they were possibly discriminating against me. The clientele are largely wives who don t work, mostly ex pat, and their middle class husbands and kids. Northern working class brits might not fit in. After hearing this I didn t ever get the confidence to chase them about joining. A shame as the grounds were beautiful. I m yet to find a gym, but it looks like the Lensbury isn t for me, or I m not for the Lensbury.
