Found someone else s socks in my room and dirty tissues. One bed had hairs all in it, bedding definitely wasn t changed. The peephole for the door had no glass in it and was just a giant hole which we noticed you can get an entire Ariel view of our room if looking in from outside. Then to top it off I left my face wash in my room it was brand new just got it that day and I called just a couple hours I left to ask to pick it up and the kid said well someone else is already staying in that room so we can t check it right now and my response was well didn t someone clean it before they checked in, they would of found it and they said the cleaning lady wasn t in today . Left my number for a manager to call me back they told me the manager wouldn t be in until Monday, I don t know what kind of business doesn t have a manager all weekend but they never called go figure.

Was nit impressed found candy wrappers in the room was not cleaned

This hotel is close to restaurants and speedway. Passed our cleaning standards. Had a few issues with keys and door handles, however loved the things in walking distance

Outdoor cleanliness is subpar. Room's are small, but we'll kept and comfortable

Nasty room, black mold in the bathroom, moldy carpet between bed and nightstand, used washcloth on the towel rack, room smelled heavily of smoke had to leave door open to air out. Only booked for one night, was told there was a two night requirement that weekend. I was charged for two nights even though only stayed for one night. Reported to health Agency.

For the price it's a decent stay. I have to give props to the staff as well because between me and my friend, we've had to replace at least 8 lost key cards.

Nice hotel. Enjoyed the visit. Although the walls are very thin and was able to hear neighbors next door partying all night.

Typical cheap motel. Exterior room entry, etc. We got stuck in the back building behind Wendy's and Tim Hortons, which is quite a way across the parking lot when we needed something from the desk. Rooms are a bit small. Generally, it's what I expect for the cheap price. The beds were at least comfortable. Biggest negative is the active train tracks running along the rear of the motel property. I was woken up a few times over the course of three nights by loud trains rumbling past. In summary, decent place to crash for a night or two, but not a good choice for long-term stays or if you critically need a full night of sleep.

Rooms are nice beds are very comfortable only problem was an old man tried to push in my door he may have had dementia.

This place is disgusting. you should know what you are getting into. It is incredibly cheap, so book it if that is the most important feature for you. Our room was dirty with soiled sheets and urine in the toilet. When we called the front desk, a very polite women said that she would send fresh sheets and take care of the room. 3 hours later, no sheets and we flushed our own toilet. There were also bugs. I had to leave.

Bathroom was what Gordon Ramsay would rate as unacceptable. The plumbing fixtures were protruding from the wall and the tiles on the floor are cracked and broken. The beds are ok (mattresses need to to be flipped or replaced). DO NOT GET THE ROOM NEXT TO THE POOL DURING THE SUMMER! It might seem amazing to have that room during the heat, but the constant slamming of the gate and screaming of kids can be alarming if you're jet lagged and trying to get sleep. Overall an ok place to stay if you're only there to sleep.

My son and his girlfriend stayed here last two nights to find the place loaded with fleas. When inquiring at the front desk, they simply handed another set of sheets and said they couldn't offer another room as they didn't have enough cleaning staff. He sent me a video and pictures and I was appalled. At checkout, they offered to give him back half of one night despite the bites all over. Something is clearly wrong here!

Stayed at the Varsity Inn when visiting Ohio State University. Arrived after midnight and staff was there to give me my key. Clean rooms and good location.

This hotel is the worst I've stayed at. I took a shower and I thought I was going to go through to the floor under me. There was mold all over the bath room. It had places that tile was cracked. Over all this room needed some major fixes. The beds were full size not queen and the most uncomfortable I got up in so much pain I didn't think I would be able to drive home. I will not be staying there again. That was a dump and I would have left but no more hotel rooms since it was the buckeye Country superfest.

Clean and updated rooms. Convenient to campus and restaurants. Could've used an elevator.

Mostly clean and quiet. Easy access to Ohio State, downtown and 315. A lot of food and drink options nearby

Don't judge a book by its cover. Upon driving onto the property I was a bit apprehensive as it looks sketchy. However once I got my keys through the drive-thru check in window (which was both convenient and simultaneously had a "cheap" feeling), and got to my room, I was pleasantly surprised. A great room (2 queen beds, very comfy) with big flat screen TV, fridge and microwave. The only minor issues I had were that the plumbing was loud (meaning that another room was showering and it sounded as if it were coming from my bathroom) and the microfridge was noisy.

Greatblocation, everything is really close by. Room service never came, also I found some bugs by the window. Other than that, great price for the location. Check in process was nice and quick.

It was horrible! Checked in and was exhausted! Went to room and encountered the bugs! Couldn't sleep, had to be at hospital very early. Hair dryer came right off the wall and didn't work, bugs all over bathroom floor and vanity area. If it hadn't been so late, we would have left! I will def be following up with Columbus-area businesses!

I don't like how this hotel is layed out and it's not easily accessible.

Wouldn't be my choice unless it's an emergency. Bathroom floor was so dirty. Looks like they rent by the hour and the vending machines are a joke. I gave them 2 stars because it was close to the hospital and inexpensive... but you get what you pay for.

Reasonable value. For the relatively modest price the room is pretty good. Comfortable bed. Enough space. Adequate bathroom.

Front desk knows what they're doing. Good service. Comfy room.

Well to start, I booked on expedia... Showed up the next day & the lady said I didnt have a reservation. I said yes I do and handed her my print off from expedia. She said oh no you booked yesterday "your a day late and a dollar short"..... I pulled around (because drive thru check in[lazy AF]) and parked to go inside I didnt even have words for her ignorance. I walked inside and said to the MAN working I showed him the paper and said sir I BOOKED YESTERDAY THAT IS CORRECT. MY CHECK IN DATE IS TODAY AND CHECK OUT TOMORROW.. Like how stupid can you be? Took a half hour to check in & still ended up charging my room for another $10 on top of the expedia price. Got to the room (whole hotel is no smoking) and our comforter has cigarette burn holes in it, mold in the ceiling above the shower, other peoples hair all over the shower walls, dirty bathroom floor, cobwebs in every corner, the coffee maker in the room was way too dirty to even think about using. We didnt even bring our bags in felt like a place you could get bugs. We said f this hotel went out all night and came back just to sleep.... Bed was rock hard, pillows were so soft and had zero support.... And forgot to mention its literally right beside train tracks with trains at 5am..... Woke up horribly stuffed up & could barely breathe. Horrible service horrible room will never stay here again or reccomend to ANYBODY!

Was a very good experience only flaw was the hot water took a 1/2 an hour to heat up correctly past their everything was clean the beds was good and it was a nice time.

We just left after spending what will be our last night at this inn. We previously stayed at the Varsity Inn in Columbus and had no issues. This time the room was absolutely disgusting. It had not been cleaned at all. Every corner had crumbs, dust and was just plain filthy, including the microwave and refrigerator. There was even gum stuck to the ceiling. The bathroom was hands down the worst I have ever seen in any hotel. Drips on all walls, dust, ground in dirt - unbelievable. Please do yourself a favor a stay somewhere else!

Nonsmoking room smelled like smoke. Both bedspreads were covered in filth. Would not recommend

Not bad for the price. Was just staying the night for a visit to the OSU James Cancer Center, so not the best reason for my travel.

Front desk workers were both incredibly rude and not professional. One clerk didn t understand Kim was short for Kimberly. Hotel is outdated and wouldn t recommend at all! There s a Springhill Suites right next door that is much nicer and only a few dollars more.

Smells like smoke, overpriced, cracked sink, bathroom is dingy, needs updated and repaired. Newer carpet and countertops.

Quality hotel for the money. Room was clean but not great. Some light switches didn't work and the ice machine was broken. Apart from that, pretty run of the mill economy motel.

Rooms are clean but when we arrived found out the pool was closed and I asked ahead of time when I booked about pool we have three boys ages 11/5/2

Dont really want to give any star room look way different from internet bathroom look dirty refrigerator side door broke pillow strink we found hair inside a pillow we book non smoke room but this room smell smoke very strong...we told them to change to the other room he said his nose not really smell anything shampoo and conditioner smell bad so we had to go out to buy shampoo and soap....we will not book this hotel again.

UPDATE: Wrote review after first night, because Google survey asked. During week, found a couple bugs in the bathroom, stained sheets, and since it was very cold out during our stay, neighboring rooms would smoke in their doorways letting smoke blow into our room (these are non-smoking rooms and this is a Cancer Society approved place). We asked for different area to stay the next week and they accommodated. Nice stay, but wouldn't let us stay there for the rest my girlfriend's cancer treatments, because of the complaints of the first week. I would probably still recommend this place for its convenience, but I honestly don't want to do that...

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Not far from the James. Very nice rooms in the second building, while rooms in the first are being remodeled. Attendant at desk was great and very helpful. Left room tidy and brought fresh towels during our stay. Close to a train, but that does not bother me. Sirens also, from being close to hospitals, but hardly noticeable after awhile. I would recommend in a snap!

King size bed. No microwave or refrigerator in this room. Front desk staff is outstanding. Towels are subpar. Very comfortable bed. Overall good experience.

Very efficient space. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. Close to 670 and 315. Would definitely stay here again.

Cheap. Decent beds. Smelled a bit like smoke. Was good for a quick overnight.

A big shoutout to all the staff at the Varsity Inn! We ve been coming here for over 2 years The staff is always helpful, friendly and caring. They made my brothers stay and treatment bearable! Also the coffee is awesome, too

The rooms were spacious enough for an other night trip and the hotel was plenty accommodating and affordable

Saw bedbugs 5 minutes after walking into the room. I have literally never made a Google review before, but that was so disgusting I don t want anyone else to make the mistake of booking a room here.

I had an issue with a unauthorized charge on my credit card after my stay here I spoke with management they promptly responded and promise me to have the issue resolved within a few days once this issue is resolved as promised I can tell you that I was happy with all other aspects of my stay

Our room 159, was dirty. The bed frames were trashy, there was crumbs on the carpet. The bathroom was gross, hair on the shower wall, dirt and grime all over the tub. We didn t take a shower in there to scared to put my feet on the tub floor. There was tooth paste on the wall by the sink, dirt on the sink and wall and stains every where. The toilet was nasty, the room looked like it wasn t cleaned ever. We were there for the Arnold classics to compete and we had to snag the last room we could get. If it wasn t so cold out we would of slept in the truck. We put one of our blankets on top of the bed and slept because I was grossed out to even sleep on the bed.

Great location. Great economy. Ok rooms. Probably not the cleanest option.

Dirty dirty bathrooms, makes us winder how clean the sheets and carpet (that looks from about 40 years ago) are. Rude staff at check in rolling eyes at us because we couldn't here them through the drive through check in (nice feature though). Only thing this has going is location. Walking distance to the stadium or 5 minute uber ride. Gonna check out next door for next year.

Great service, close to places to eat, spacious bedrooms. It's not close to many bus lines, though. Still, a great place to stay overall.

I made a reservation for my in laws and the lady over the phone I m assuming at the front desk is disrespectful, and rude! Just because it s a nice hotel doesn t give you any right to be disrespectful! Like you don t like your job..get a new one!

This was a terrible hotel and I'm pretty sure they have bed bugs. And they refused to give me a refund.

Low priced. Easily accessible. Comfortable beds. the room was extremely hot and had to leave the door open to cool it down. Room was rough like it was half way through being remodeled. The toilet was soo low that you had to fall down to sit on it and stretch your legs out. They didt have coffee cups and kr was the cofee machine had never been cleaned.

The rooms were kinda yucky, especially the shower. Luckily we found no bed bugs, but make sure you check thoroughly if you stay here. It's very noisy, the walls and doors are not really insulated very well. The beds were alright, I have slept on worse.

Staying forba few days, had slight issue at front desk. Overall not horrible.

Do NOT stay here! If I could give it one star I would! We stayed there during state for wrestling. We woke up at around 2 am complaining of bites. We tore the room apart only to find bed bugs!!! After putting all of our stuff in trash bags, we went to the front desk and told them. The person working the front desk acted like it was no big deal, and the money still hasn't been refunded. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT STAY HERE!!! BED BUGS!!! BEWARE!!!! Read other reviews because lots of others have complained of this!!!!

Varsity Inn is a very reasonable and fairly well maintained hotel with no major issues. They were short on towels at one point and our key cards quit working, but these are sort of minor issues, I suppose. I would probably recommend this hotel and most likely stay there again in the future. The location is very good as well.

My brother and i were in Columbus for his surgery and we needed a place to stay overnight. ..it was very nice room ( much nicer than I thought it would be) beds were comfortable and the staff was very nice

Nice room that we got. WiFi is really shoddy way over here sometimes but other than that it's alright.

The counter service was SO SLOW that the 25 people checking in from the music festival caused for a hostel environment. The one employee on-duty should have been able to call in assistance from management. She did an amazing job handling the situation but with no support this company is obviously not run by people who know how to manage a hotel. She gets four stars her bosses get one.

Great location for easy access to the hospital. Very smokey in room from parking lot smoke. Bathroom door wouldn't shut. Toilet was loose. Bathroom faucet was loose. Just not well maintained.

I reserved a handicap accessible room a week in advance as my wife is in a wheelchair. Our room was not able to accommodate a wheelchair at all. When I complained, the hotel attendant claimed that the room was handicap modified. I'm not sure what that means. but my wife was unable to get into the room let alone use the bathroom there. when I asked for a refund the attendant refused stating that we had been there for over an hour even though we had only been there 20 minutes, as long as it took to get my wife into her chair and try to get into the room and then back into the car. it was very insulting and the attendant was very rude. considering the price of this Motel I wasn't expecting the Hilton but I was expecting the room to be at least handicap accessible as requested.

where to start. stink bugs crawling on the ceiling, the toilet flush handle broke and "they don't have any rooms left to move me to" even though there are several clearly vacant rooms visible. then asked for a card for incidentals even though it was a direct bill reservation and they double charged both accounts and wouldn't even address the issue. I'm still waiting for the manager to call back

Never again...we were triple charged for our room which was already overpriced...I guess we will see if the charges get reversed. But the customer service was terrible when we called about the problem. How about being polite to your customers when you realize you made a mistake!

Do not stay here. The room was left untidy, the sheets were stained and the street noise outside kept us awake all night.
