Drive up check in was nice. Staff was friendly. Room was clean-ish. I only say this because we found an old Pepsi bottle under the chair and we also found a random pill behind the night stand. But I'm not a tightly wound person. So I still give 5 stars because I understand someone could overlook these things. I leave it with this housekeeping should really be more thorough. I would stay at this hotel again! Thank you!

First time staying here, but accommodations were great, and they have places to eat and shop within a shirt distance!!!

Great location, right near downtown Columbus, German Village, OSU and plenty of restaurants and gas stations. Rooms were a bit small but comfy, you definitely get what you pay for. Would stay again if in the area for a night out.

I didn t even stay at this hotel, this review is about their poor customer service!

I had to cancel a reservation due to covid. The first time I called I was told I couldn t cancel, even though their site says otherwise.

I emailed three times to their main account asking to cancel, and never got a response.

Called again and was told, verbally, that the reservation would be canceled and that they would email me a confirmation. Never got a confirmation.

The day before the reservation I got an email saying how excited they were for me to stay with them. I replied (as the email also indicated I could reply if I had any questions) reiterating that I had CANCELED. No response.

Then I get a follow up auto email thanking me for staying. I replied to THAT as well. No response.

Terrible customer service.

Great room clean sheets will put together clean tubs no bed bugs and nice employees

Older motel, well maintained. Good value for reasonable price. Includes iron, large rooms.

This hotel was the worst place ive stayed in a long time. Our room was not ready on time for us to check in and the front desk staff were rude and didnt even clean up our room just changed the sheets, if even that. The only good part about this place was i could bring my dog. We didnt even stay until checkout left in the early morning . to be honest find another hotel

Staff was rude to us when we arrived and tried to check in. They wouldn t help and barely acknowledged us for 15 minutes, then told us we were being rude to the other customers for letting a curse word slip during a conversation. For that we waited another 10. Overpriced for a room that sits almost on a train track and wakes you up multiple times in a night.

Good location. Nice bed. For the most part was clean. Bathroom sink leaked and the floor got wet. Non-smoking, yet there were ashes under one pillow and cigarette on back of headboard. Room also did not smell good. Room 124. Not sure I will stay again. Staff was friendly when checking in.

Its a decent hotel. However, I do have to say that the maid staff doesn't do the greatest job cleaning up after previous guests.

Room was fine but I've, as of today, been charged three times. Once when I checked in for a one night stay (charged for two days), again the next day for the price that was given on Expedia, and then again today for the full price of a one night stay if you didn't reserve it with the discount. Talked to some lady and she refunded the discounted price instead of the full price one night stay, hung up on me before I was finished talking to her. They charged me the wrong amount before I got to see the bill and sign, which tire up my entire bank account for the weekend (I was attending a concert and had $1 in my account.) Good thing I didn't want to buy anything.

To be honest the hotel is not no 5 star hotel that's has everything you can imagine. But I would say this. If I wanted to get away from it all and your working with a nice amount of money or just stopping in town or you and a friend wanna get away I suggest this place. It's close to lots of places to eat there is a bus line close to the hotel and they offer extended check out and it's super affordable for anyone

Perfect spot to stay after a hospital visit. Was a lil dicey at first considering the police were on scene when we arrived and had to request permission to pass by to our room. But staff is friendly and stay was quiet and cozy.

Train comes right by it, no bathtub and refrigerator is loud and smells mildewy

Was in town for a country concert and everything else was sold out or else I would ve left this place. Our room was disgustingly dirty. The phone receiver appeared to have blood on the ear piece, the bath tub was dirty along with the lamp shade and the wall leading to the bathroom. Yuck!

It's a nice motel. My room was clean. My room had a single cup coffee maker, a small fridge, and a microwave. My room was nice and warm during the really bad ice storm raging outside. I had people in rooms all around me, and the only noise that carried was the shower. If you need to stay close to OSU, this place is nice. It's also not a budget buster.

Rooms are nice and big. Feels like a hotel on the inside. Looks like a motel on the outside. Drive through checking is a plus. Overall I would stay again.

BED BUGS!!!!! I wish I could give NO stars, but that is not an option! TERRIBLE management services! Emails bounce back, no one will talk to me, no one will call me! DO NOT STAY HERE!!!! I checked in for 5 minutes on 10/06/2013! Found live bed bugs in the bathroom on the ceiling, did not even take the time to look for them, they were out and on the move! Had to stay at a hotel completely out of my way but it was a clean, bed bug free room! The staff on duty, acted like it was no big deal, they did help find the hotel since every thing every where was booked or way way to pricey. I was there for an event at the convention center, but it was parents weekend at OSU, so everything was booked full or completely over priced for the parents!

Fairly inexpensive place that is incredibly clean! If cleanliness of where you stay is important then Varsity Inn should be high on your list.

Great overnight stay for a budget! Staff extremely friendly

The main fault is that there is no soundproofing to the rooms, and the train roars by at all hours of the night. I got very little sleep as, not only is the train noisy, but the hotel is close enough to the train tracks that it rattles the whole building. I was gifted the room closest to the train tracks, so between 4 and 5 am, the train came by three times, and I was not able to fall asleep again after. Sitting through a seminar all day is going to be a challenge. The room was clean, the pillows were soft, but the pillow cases were threadbare so I felt way too close to the person who slept there before, some of the pillows smelled like cologne. This is the cheapest hotel in the area, but still around $100 a night, so you may as well spend the extra and get away from the train.

The pool was very nasty you couldn't even see the bottom. The room had hair in the sink. Overall not very satisfied

Excellent mid grade hotel. Spacious rooms with a good sized fridge and microwave. Large flat screen TV and a quiet heater /ac unit. Stayed over Christmas and they gave their cleaning staff Christmas off. Big thumbs up.

A nice motel in a good location for osu. Clean, friendly, no major complaints. Pillows are kind of odd. And the room doors don't close on their own, which is a minor complaint but it's too easy to walk away from your room and forget. All in all, good experience.

The beds only have two sheets to cover up with. There are no blankets available at this hotel. Apparently you need to bring your own linens. The room reeked of cigarette smoke.

Stayed here after a concert because it was in walking distance, I had never been here but heard only good things about it from friends that had stayed quite often. The room was pretty big, I wasn't expecting it to be that big! It was clean and smelled good, like it had been cleaned good. It was pretty cheap too! Definitely Recommend!

This place wasn't bad but compared to what other places offerd they were lacking especial given the price I paid for the room 105. The rooms were clean but my lotion bottle was not full which makes me wonder if they saved money by not giving new bottles in each room for each guest. Especially since none of the bottles had a seal on it. The area is quiet thought given its near a train and hospital.

The service and hotel we're very average, which isn't bad given the price and I was staying over graduation weekend. The wifi was out in the section I was staying, but it doesn't seem like a constant so I don't want to lower stars for it.

I checked in. Saw how dirty it was. Read some reviews. Packed up and left.

Bathroom was dirty. Roomed smelled like cigarette smoke.

Clean room. Hot water. Comfy bed. Next to a railroad. Only real con.

Closest to Columbus University hospital, fairly practical

Just good for a night or two. It's upgrade from Knights Inn. Just using this place to sleep.

Spacious room, comfortable bed, everything was clean, the price was affordable.

A whatever room, good for sleeping. The real plus is having the Wendy's nextdoor.

Great value for the cost. Bathrooms could be updated but certainly usable. Be aware of the train tracks outside the room. Two loud trains during the night but was not an issue for me.

Clean room and friendly staff at an affordable price. I will stay here again.
