I'd put zero stars but I can't leave a review unless I put at least one.
So basically, when I went into labor with my daughter, NO ONE let my mother know that I was okay in the labor and delivery unit. No one informed her that everything was going as smoothly as it was behind closed doors. She was worried sick about me. Only after a few minutes upon me giving birth, was she able to get any information. They didn't even play the lullaby they play when a new baby enters the world. So that didn't help my mother feel anymore at ease. During my stay, they told me I'd have to stay an extra 24hrs because my daughter kept spitting up her food, and I kept telling them that it was normal, that she was getting the mucus out of her lungs and that nothing was seriously wrong. None of the nurses helped me with my baby when my fiancee had to go to work the day after I gave birth. None of the nurses helped me feed her, or change her, I couldn't sleep because no one would come in and help me take care of my daughter. I couldn't shower. I couldn't even pee without her crying, and no one helping me. I was a brand new mother at the time, my daughter is my first child. I had to stay ANOTHER 24 hours kept up in a room with no help, just so they could make sure my daughter was going to be okay. (which she was. I told them this numerous times. But what do I know? I'm not the mother of my child or anything.) Only after our 72 hour stay was I able to leave and take my daughter home to FINALLY start our life together. The only good that came out of the entire ordeal was my amazing doctor and the nurses that helped me deliver our baby girl. They kept me laughing between contractions, they kept me laughing while pushing (as weird as that sounds). My labor and delivery experience was far better, and far more welcoming than that of my experience with the maternity ward.
Then, just last night, my fiancee almost went into cardiac arrest in the ambulance after falling down the stairs and almost losing oxygen. He was in the hospital getting various tests done, and he was sent home with a piece of paper that indicated his diagnosis to be "Loss of consciousness (HCC)" but they're sending him to a specialist because all of his tests came back normal, and they can't figure out what's wrong with him. I'm absolutely annoyed at the service at this hospital. Professionals shouldn't have to send their patients to "specialists". I refuse to revisit this hospital.

Edit: The food sucks, by the way. It was served to me cold. My first meal after giving birth was cold. I had coupons for my best friend to get something to eat and they got mad, thinking it was me, and refused her food because they thought I ordered twice. Lmao

Would be nice if there was a -10. My mom was in 2 x in 2 months, apparently they don't look at old charts to see what's going on. She has a broken ankle yet they had her up walking on it when she's no weight bearing. Came in one morning she's ripped her i.v. out gown off & sitting on edge of bed with her bed alarm off how would that of worked out is she fell negligence all over the place. Never again St. Francis from now on. Oh and was left in bed with blood on sheets for 2 days until I changed them myself 2 times idiots.

Had to wait over 5+ hours just to get a room. Was passed over for at LEAST 2 patients who while waiting said they only needed pain meds to sale.
Literally throwing up blood and unable to get anything down.
Worst ER EVER!!!!!!!!!
dont recommend.

Grandson(13) just went to emergency room this morning, (sunday11/6/16 10am)for a football leg injury from last sunday. Calf muscle ripped bone bruised wearing walking boot. Having rinching pain. Cant walk. Huge lump. Er Doctor less them 1minute on room so rude uncaring disinterested. .discusting . Had nothing to say other than take more pain med. Result : Grandson left in pain mother in tears. Unsure if her job to care and protect her child was actually accomplished. Is it possible bleeding again..blood clots.. something more serious..all still racing though her mind. $250 co pay plus what ever insurance company dishes out...for what? A Doctor who shouldn't be allowed to deal with anyone or anything with feelings. Feeling hurt and scared for anyone else getting same bad care.

This is a review for the Methodist cafeteria and room service that needs to be addressed. Me and my girlfriend just had a baby . One night me and my mom went to go to the cafeteria to bring food up to everyone . We asked if they had any healthier options . She mumbles something under her breath . We asked again and she Ridley explained there was a salad bar. I told her she didn t have to be rude and she told me we better keep walking . To my mom and I.

The second problem . I m sitting here taking care of my baby while my girlfriend catches up on some much needed sleep . She earlier ordered lunch I didn t because I was so tired I was hungry . Now she s asleep and I m watching the baby and I m hungry . I tried to order food and they told me they didn t want to deliver because they didn t want to make a second trip ? ARE YOU KIDDING ME ? do you know how much money I ve spent at the cafeteria being here 5 days . And you want me to wake my girlfriend up to watch the baby when she finally got some sleep so I can get some food ?

Even the nurses said this is unacceptable

I can't say enough about the professional level of care we receive at Unity Point Methodist Hospital. From the courteous and trustworthy people who valet park my car, to Brenda who always greets you with a warm smile at the information desk to the ladies in registration and the volunteers each and every one of them do what they do with professionalism and integrity and truly care about the people they serve. We entered through the ER most recently. The young man from Registration who came to our room to complete the signing of paperwork was so very thoughtful that he brought my husband (the patient) a warm blanket and brought me one too! He also brought me hot coffee with cream and sugar and sweetener with a stir stick, gave my husband ice water and crackers with peanut butter. We were so grateful for his extra TLC in making our visit as comfortable as possible. He even asked if we wanted to watch TV as there was one in the room. Wait, were we at the hospital ER or was this pampering from a plush hotel? The healthcare team was so competent and attentive never leaving us guessing and waiting. I just can't say enough. Unity Point Methodist is the new gold standard to which every other healthcare facility could be proud to model. Thank you for taking such great care of my precious cargo - my husband!

I went to 8 west with suicidal thoughts in search for safety. At 8 west i experienced the most demeaning and horrifying things that I've ever gone through. DO NOT COME HERE. I mean it. they take away your human rights and they make you go insane. I am traumatized to the point of having nightmares every night from that place. dont go here.

This hospital needs to be shut down. The doctor was unprofessional. Lied about not seeing that my right tonsil was twice the size of the other. After I asked for her name and told her she shouldn t be a doctor she offered to check again. The tonsil is only plus 1 so it s probably not tonsillitis. I came in to the hospital stating I was worried about having cancer. I was given a blood test and the nurse shoved the needle up my arm to the degree that the metal couldn t be seen, almost. I said the needle hurt my arm and she did nothing to help. These are truly hateful, evil doctors and nurses that I personally believe wish death on patients.

I was hung up on by a receptionist! Your lackluster patient accomodations are indication enough of the horrendous quality of your services. I will never treat this place as a viable option again.

Er nurses are so unprofessional and rude this place should be shut done . I know see why there is never no wait !!! Just go across the street and wait a little longer you will be in better hands !!! Young male nurse with a long beard is so ignorant and unprofessional!!!! I will never return to this er ever again!!!!

Total waste of time and money. Find another hospital! They ll force you to wait 30 minutes for the slightest thing, don t pay attention to your food order, and take away every imaginable freedom you have! You PAY for it to be done to you too. That s the crazy part...

I nearly died to medical negligence. I had severe congestive heart failure and was sent home with a diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. In addition, they infiltrated with the IV and regardless that I told them it wasn't right, the nurses said it was and that I was just whining. This place and everyone there is utterly incompetent, and unless you are trying to intentionally kill yourself, or just absolutely hate someone and wish them pain and suffering, or death, DO NOT GO HERE... I almost NEVER saw an actual MD, just a bunch of students (at least 10 in 2 1/2 days) and not a damn one of them knew theirs mouths from their a-holes.

Worst ER ever and I work in multiple ERs as a Respiratory therapist. Over 2 hours for a doctor to see my mom after being sent from her doctors office with a possible heart attack via ambulance. Not the hospital standards where I work!!! If not for insurance purposes would never let her come here again!!!

This is the worst hospital in the peoria area. This hospital refuses services and expect you to sign the registration papers.

I went to the hospital with Chest Pains and the dr told me that I had a non emergency, provided me the registration papers to sign( I refused), with a prescription for tylenol.

I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. The rating is Poor - Poor - there was nothing Fair in their services.

I am so over being at this hospital. Never again will my dad come to this hospital. We have been here since Saturday afternoon and he has been in so much pain he is in tears. This man has a high pain tolerance due to losing his leg 30 years ago...when he is in so much pain that he says he would rather have 10,000 pounds of steel fall on his leg again instead of being in the pain he is in now is a problem. None of the nurses are bringing his pain meds in when they are due so they let the pain get so bad that he is shaking and screaming. We have been told every night since we have been here that he was going to go into surgery the next morning and then 3pm the next day they say they aren't doing the surgery, then they throw him back on nothing by mouth that night. This has been an awful experience with no answers as to way he is in pain or why his joints are all swelling.

Only reason for the one star is to leave this review. Went into the ER and was surprised to get in so quickly. We were seated in a dirty room to start off. Dr. Jenkins comes in to rush through my exam. Didn't seem to care what the problem was.
She was trying to push me out as quick as possible. Without a care in the world for her patient, I was forced to sign a paper to bill my insurance for nothing. This used to be a great hospital. I will never recommend Methodist to anyone. OSF has staff with smiling faces and are there for their patients. My family will never step foot in there again!

Waited for the doctor for more than 2 hours after a blood test that took less than 5 minutes. Staff is too busy about talking about what they want to do with their time off than talking about why I'm waiting 2 hours for a blood test result. This is why I don't go to this place.

Horrible experience Friday Oct 16th thru Saturday Oct 17th. The Emergency Department were so rude. Finally after waiting over 3 hrs we were finally put into a room. It was a filthy room. My daughter and I were there a total of 12 hrs. During that time I was told I'd be getting a cot to rest in since I just had a small chair to sit in over night. I was given nothing. Not even a blanket, pillow nothing. plus I was told I couldn't leave my room to get a drink or use the bathroom. Seriously! They were so rude to me and I wasn't the one being admitted, my daughter was. The staff on the floor were just the rudest they could be. I dont recommend this place at all. I'll never be back I hope!

I had two strokes and when I had my nerve test done, my neurologist told me to talk to my PCP to find out if I would receive disability or not. Shouldnt the responsibility fall on the Neurologist? The office in East Peoria couldn't see that I have a 70% blockage in my brain. Dr. Prescher told me I had to return to work. If I return to work and have another stroke, I will sue UnityPoint Methodist.

Sittin in extremely uncomfortable chairs for over 4 hours in excrutiating pain could barely walk and they have me sitting in these chairs that are no better than rocks. The staff is slow and unprofessional and uncaring of the patients needs, housekeeping is slow and more worried about other things that arent as important as getting empty rooms cleaned and ready for the next patient. I left after waiting over 4 hours and i can still barely walk!!!

son held for > 31 hrs without qualified Dr evaluation. Lethargic self important senior staff clearly extending duration of stay for insurance/financial benefit. Inconsistent, inaccurate and conflicting messages served back and dismissed. Even hospital staff agreeing actions were wrong. Clearly a hospital that thinks accountability is below it.

I was flown in for a major heart attack. The staff was nothing short of amazing. In my 60 years I have never had such great care and I do mean great care as I did at Methodist. I had triple bypass surgery and was home in a week. Everyone at this hospital is amazing. I wish I could name them all. They treated me like we were family and I will never forget them. Believe me when I say I love them all!!!!!

I would absolutely NOT recommend this place. There billing department is terrible, the hospitals and doctors do not care about you just about money. Yes there a business, but there in the business is helping people so there's no point in going somewhere where there suppose to be concerned about your health when there not. The people that are suppose to handle the knowledge of billing don't have that knowledge and don't care if you get stuck with a $10,000 bill because when you call to verify everything is good to go with a procedure and they say yes when it is very well not. They are unwilling to help in anyway and just send you in circles. I have major billing issues with both my fathers and my account and will never use Methodist or Unity point again if it can be avoided, which it can.

The part of the hospital that i dealt with, originally said they had never had my father in their hospital. Weird, considering he called me at 4 am from the hospitals phone. When i called back they said they never had him and there was no way to check if he was there. I then asked to speak to a supervisor. Was on hold for 10 minutes and then the supervisor came on the line to inform me that my dad had already been discharged and then she hung up on me. All i wanted was an update on my father's health. Both employees were extremely rude to me. One was just lazy, or ignorant to how her job was done, and had no intention of trying to help me. Like did you get the job you have to help people or because its the only one you could get?

Unity Point Health is a definite choice for me, I am not from Peoria Illinois and I had to get my inhaler and some steroids for my lungs and the doctor was right on top of her game. Needless to say I am feeling 100% better today than I was 2 days ago.

Gave birth to my second son via c-section Peoria Methodist medical center. They pushed formula didn't listen and completely ruined every minute of bonding time with my son. I never really liked Methodist but my doctor recommended it. I thought maybe I was wrong about Methodist maybe I have been unfair. I will try them out. Give them a second chance. It was the worst thing I have ever done. Had a horrible experience. I will never go back. And I don't recommend it to anyone. Had a much better experience with my first son at Osf.

The Surgical floor nurses and doctors were extremely helpful, kind and knowledgeable. I was there for DCIS (breast cancer) Biopsy and a Lumpectomy. I highly recommend Unity Point Methodist. The registration was very quick and rarely any "wait" time. I totally appreciated everyone's kindness.

I would like to say how pleased I was with the car...

I would like to say how pleased I was with the care that I received. Dr. Mulvey was my surgeon who did a superb job replacing my hip. He has a wonderful bedside manner and I can tell he was well respected by the staff. Prep staff who were also fantastic were, Tammy, Mary, Danae, Dr. Grover. My recovery nurses were very kind and supportive, Val, Teagan, Leah, and Tiffany. I know there were many others that helped but I don t remember their names. All I can say is that the care was fantastic and do to all the training, my recovery is going very well and I have had no pain medicine other than Tylenol for the first day and a half. I would say that is amazing. Already walking between 3000-4000 steps and it has only been 6 days.
Thanks everyone.

Horrible service. I laid there for eight hours in excruciating pain. No pain meds not even a couple of water. They sent me home with pain killers and said if the pain gets worse get her immediately. Three days later no change still in pain. Wouldn't recommend this hospital to any one.

UnityPointHealth on Broadway in Pekin charges exorbitant fees for little to no service. I sat in their office for an hour, recieved no services and was visited by a Dr. for less tha a minute.

ER Nurse was extremely rude and uncaring and continued to ask questions but didn't allow you to answer, if you ask questions about a medications she tells you it is fine and almost tried to shove the pill down your throat. Dr. seemed to care but seemed very rushed and seemed irritated if you ask questions. It took for ever to get anything done the whole time we waited in the room staff sat around the nurses counter reading books, joking around and making fun of patients. The entire ER did not appear to be very clean. Overall this place is very unprofessional and I hope to never return.

Nurses and doctors were helpful and did a good job in getting my family member better but we were in the ER, walkway over road, and in a room and all were filty dirty. Kinda of gross for a hospital

Methodist is the only ER I will go to in the city ...

Methodist is the only ER I will go to in the city of Peoria. I've had nothing but bad experiences at Proctor and St. Francis, but every time I have a severe, out of control migraine, endometriosis pain, ear infections (and we couldn't tell what was going on) or the time I had to have my gallbladder removed, I got fairly quick care, gentle and soft-spoken nurses (most of the time) and very good doctors and techs who did NOT believe I was just there looking for a hit, as Proctor and St. Francis seem to think. They look past the person who comes back every few months in pain and don't see a junkie, but a person in real need who has gotten a second opinion in neurology from their referral, who puts herself through an hour-long painful internal sonogram to find out what's actually going, etc. They find ways to keep the lights off, keep you comfortable, and bring your pain down. The one time I had surgery there was the only time I ever had trouble with them. I was on a medication that made it hard to find pain meds that were safe for me to take. They gave me a bad one that nearly made me comatose and almost gave me a second dose. In their favor, however, even the doctor who gave me the medication that causes the difficulty in finding workable pain medications told me that fentanyl was NOT a drug that should have reacted badly to the MAOI... but the pharmacist on call at Methodist disagreed. So it wasn't an easy call to make. I've heard both sides of the story (and from now on, even though I'm off the MAOI, I still list Fentanyl as an allergy just in case it wasn't the Methodist doctor's fault at all). All-in-all, I do trust them there, and if you're in pain, I highly recommend it over St. Francis or Procter.

This makes the 3rd trip to the ER to try and find out what s going on with my sister. Not to mention the fact we ve been in the ER since 1pm this afternoon and nothing has been done. Today as I sit in the ER we ask the nurse Angela if they ve called her doctor yet the nurse is completely rude and inconsiderate of a 16 year old who is crying in pain and just wanting to know what s going on with her body. Instead of finding out if the provider has contacted the doctors office she just says yep OKAY I will and walks out of the room laughing not only is she laughing everyone out at the nurses station is having a grand ole time laughing and joking instead of taking care of their patients which should be their top priority as there is patients in worse shape then my sister is. I HIGHLY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND COMING TO THIS HOSPITAL FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.

My experience was not only shocking but ridiculous...

My experience was not only shocking but ridiculous. The ineffective reply mailed to me by the Patient Advocacy stated "matter reviewed and case closed. Despite knowing and openly acknowledging my plans to pursue my grievances to the highest level, my contact with Patient Advocacy was not a threat but a courtesy. Plans for action take time. Meanwhile, society's most vulnerable type of patients are being victimized, disrespected, over medicated, de-humanized and left with little dignity. These so called practices and procedures need to be monitored by a Board of Directors. Volunteers who would work with the staff and interact with patience to simply insure their needs are met and their human rights are protected. I'm not the only one who has filed complaints with Patient Advocacy. I'm just the voice that won't go away.

I went to Methodist on July 7 2015 to have surgery for an hernia and they cut me 12 times when they said they was going to cut me 4 times. Dr. Julius did my surgery and messed me up. I will never go to this hospital again.

Emergency room waiting area was filthy. The floors didn t look like they had been vacuumed in months. You could see dried things that it dripped off the tables and they had never been wiped down. The bathroom was just as bad I came to the conclusion that if I was going to get some things it was probably going to be in that waiting room on top of the five hour wait and rude nurses I would definitely not Recommend Methodist hospital anymore. I was at Proctor first time ever it was clean cheerful I had nurses that prayed with me Proctor is the place to be just so y all know

We have been in the emergency room at the direction of the physician for 4 1/2 hours. We came here for my dad to be admitted to the oncology floor. Every time the nurse leaves to go get something he needs, she doesn't return. When she finally does return, she doesn't have what she went to get. We were told almost 3 hours ago that his room was being cleaned. Then, it was how busy they are upstairs for a report to be called. My dad has a tumor in his sacrum and he has been laying on this cot for nearly 5 hours. The house supervisor came in early on and said they would put a hold on a bed upstairs. They are less than attentive and I am less than impressed. There is a serious lack of customer service and patient comfort. Seeing all of the other poor reviews, my guess is, they don't care what we have to say. I thought this was a "Magnet" hospital?

I really wish i could give less than one if there was a way to give negative zeros i would give it to them. This is the worst place any one you love anyone you don't look if you see someone on the side of the road suffering don't take them there take them to OSF. If you call asking about a loved one or think that something is seriously wrong too bad they don't care I will be reporting this horrible hospital it is unbelievable how much they don't care

Excellent care, nurses and Drs were great, I was very sick, and they were caring and understanding. Was worried about Hospitalists, due to my Dr not going there, but my worries we're unfounded. No one wants to be in Hospital, But we don't always get what we want, so that being said, my experience in Methodist Unity Point was very good.

Would not recommend at all. My 21 year old went there, and I drove over an hour to be with her. By the time I got there they were still trying to get an IV in. For her privacy I will not describe her symptoms, however they are not AT ALL something a 21 year old should present with. After 5 hours, someone (who may have been a doctor? he never introduced himself) came in and told us her tests were normal and we could leave. When I stopped him and started questioning him about what could be causing this, his answer "well, there are lots of organs in the digestive area". Really? That's the answer? And for 5 hours she lay there and not once did someone ask her if she needed anything, check on her pain level, ask her if she'd like an extra blanket in the freezing cold room, etc. They didn't even show her where the call button was. As a hospital very close to a college campus, they should realize that some of their patients may be young adults, even teenagers, who don't have much experience in emergency care. They may need someone to spend a little more time with them than 2 minutes here and there. Several nurses were just hanging out joking with security guards at the nurses station. I realize my child was not the only patient there, however I have been to ER's with much higher traffic, and they managed to check on patients in a timly manner and with compassion. That was severly lacking at this facility.

Went in for pain in my upper right abdomen on a Sunday night. They basically told me I wasn't in as much pain as I said, filled me with unnecessary drugs (steriod for my lungs because at one point they thought I had pneumonia), administered unnecessary tests (had to draw blood 4 times because they weren't taking care of it properly by the time it got down to the lab, also had a chest x-ray and other unnecessary tests). Refused to believe I was in as much pain as I was. Gave me Fentanyl which is a really strong pain medication and that didn't even touch the pain. Wanted to send me home despite the fact that I begged to stay. Finally got another doctor to see how much pain I was in. They admitted me and did a sonogram Monday morning. I was NPO Monday morning due to the sonogram. Didn't bring me a food tray because of this. Found gallstones and told me it was urgent to get my gallbladder out, but not an emergency. Refused to give me/explain certain test results. Sent me home and I had a check-up with my primary doctor before surgery. He said if it were him he would've sent me to surgery right away. Saw so many doctors/nurses I lost track. Left the hospital after being there for 15 hours and ended up not eating for 20 hours straight. This is the 3rd time they have refused to believe something was actually wrong with someone in my family. Brother was in there a while back with a broken toe. They told him it was just bruised then called the next day to say it was broken. Step-father was in there a while back as well with facial pain. They told him he had a sinus infection. The next day he was told he had facial neuralgia and eight years later he had brain surgery to numb a nerve in his head. Basically people if you go to this hospital and you know something's wrong...do not let the doctor tell you nothing is wrong. Go with your gut!

I live part of the year in Durango Colorado and Peoria Illinois. They want me to have a few expensive pulmonary tests. I shopped both location hospitals as I refuse Obamacare and pay cash. I thought Peoria would be a better deal as there are multiple hospitals and in Durango they are all owned by one entity. The test charges were comparable in both places but Peoria Methodist only allows a 20% discount for cash while Durango gives a 50% discount plus 10% if you pay it within 60 days! The insurance companies get a big discount from these hospitals and as self pay consumers so should we! Shame on you Unity Point Health Methodist-Proctor! Another good reason to retire in Colorado!
