I have called to find out about the problems in the embassy these days because I have the appointment on Friday. Because an acquaintance has read in a newspaper that there is a serious problem. I have not been able to ask the embassy anything because I have only been able to hear telemarketers who give web addresses, emails and a telephone number to which they do not give you the option to speak.

Do I have to go to Madrid for my scheduled appointment on Friday without knowing if there are problems getting the visa?

Do I have to waste my valuable time and money to go to Madrid and have them speak to me in person and find out if the computer error affects me?

Can't you inform me by phone? Or even by email if there is a problem that affects me?

Honestly, this doesn't look like a decent deal.

Good morning, I would like to please clarify a dou...

Good morning, I would like to please clarify a doubt about the validity of a passport to travel, I know that to Travel to USA the passport must be valid for 6 months after the date of departure from the USA, My wife has requested an interview for the application of Visa for 08/08/2016, Your passport will expire on 03/17/2017, for the Visa it has the required Validity but for Traveling in December it would only have 3 Months of Validity, we are clear that we have to apply at the Cuban Consulate a new passport, but it will only be possible in mid-September, so that it meets the 6 months in advance of the Expiration required, the question is:

Could the Visa be stamped in case it is approved in the Passport that will expire on 03/17/2017, even knowing that it will not have the validity required to travel, Apply for a new Passport in September and fly in this case with both passports?

Will there be any objection knowing that we want to fly in December and that the passport does not meet the requirements of Validity? Will they give us the option to apply for a new passport and Visa which we have in force?
Thanks in advance .

Sorry for the inconvenience, thanks in advance

The application for a Visa in my case has been a simple, timely and very fast process. The staff is very polite, attentive and able to answer any questions at the moment. You just have to follow the instructions on the web / forms and you will not have any difficulty. If you are honest, educated and with clear ideas, you will always have the doors open in all places. I applied for a non-immigrant visa (by appointment).
From the moment I entered until I left, step 1h and something. I had an appointment at 7:45 AM

The security measures are high, they do not allow backpacks and there are no lockers. The only thing they allow is a mobile phone, keys, wallet and women the bag (I do not understand that they leave bags but backpacks do not). They take your mobile to give it to you on the way out. There is a photo booth inside the Embassy but it may not work so better take the photo.
During the process you go through several areas, first they put a sticker on your passport, then they keep the passport somewhere else, then they call you for the prints and finally they do the "interview" at a normal and ordinary counter like the one in a bank.

Friendly enough staff.

Good Morning

Good Morning

I have an appointment to apply for a non-immigrant visa. Normally I travel to the USA under the ESTA program, but for work reasons I had to go to Iran, so I need a visa.

My question is the following: since I have to travel to Madrid from Barcelona and I will go with my 10-year-old son to show him the Prado. Will my son be able to access the embassy, even though the appointment is in my name? I have no one to leave him with in Madrid.

Thanks and regards

Hello I have never attempted to go to this consulate; however, I am trying to get some questions about soliciting a visa and it has proven to be imposible.

I have dual nationality (both declared) and I am half way through my architecture career, currently my visa is in my Venezuelan passport but I would like to renew it but get it stamped on my Spanish passport since it has become hard to renew the Venezuelan passport. I wanted to know if this is a risky thing to try, or if anyone has done it before?

The worst experience, they asked 1. Where are you going, (new york), who are you going with (alone, who is going to pay (me), husband and children (no), has not looked at work, nor do I have an apartment , nor that I have enough money in the account .... I am not acceptable? Forgive? Because? Because I do not have Husband and children? Or because I can pay everything alone? Or because I am from Russia? 29 year old woman ... Flipping ...

I initially went to the embassy to ask some questions about an upcoming appointment I had. After waiting for 40 minutes without being called, I walked up to a window that wasn t busy and my problem was actually resolved in a few minutes. I was so grateful. They are really polite, especially one of the men who works the Cashier window.

I happened to have a very good experience. It took a little time to process my visa but that is understandable due to the fact that it was a busy day. The consulate employees were very gracious and helpful. If you are prepared and follow the instructions clearly, you should not have an issue. If you come unprepared and demand attention, that's when you might get unfavorable surprises.

I was on vacation trip to Madrid and I had to do my j1 visa at the same time. I booked my interview in this Embassy, I was a little worried after reading some many unhappy comments. but I did it anyway.
Honestly if there were more than 5 stars i would give it. everything from A-Z was perfectly managed. You need to prepare your papers and arrive your time, bring all the requested documents so that you do get delayed. I arrived on time and joined the queue, there was a nice lady helping us out to put the required papers in a folder, she speaks both English and Spanish ( I am an English speaker). then they did the security checking and got a number, waited for few, got my finger prints and then did the interview with the officer, she was so professional and nice, i answered briefly and honestly and the visa was approved.
Thank you very much for the high quality service. Much Appreciated (Mucho Gracisa)

After going through the awful experience of having...

After going through the awful experience of having a wallet (with greencard, license, euros, debit/credits cards inside) get stolen on our first day in Madrid the Embassy made a stressful situation even worse.

We were not even allowed to enter the embassy without finding a way to pay the $575 fee for letters of transportation and printing out the forms on our own to fill out prior to entry.

This required a very stressful experience in a local Starbucks in order to get WiFi to pay the fee followed by begging in broken Spanish to the employees at a local bank to print out the forms for us after sending them via email.

Afterwards, the men guarding the doors to the US Embassy do not even speak English! Therefore, it became a whole new process to explain that we had paid the fee and had the proper forms for entry. One would think that the minimum requirements to work at a US Embassy would be the ability to speak English, but apparently that is not the case.

This Embassy made a truly horrendous experience even worse.

Im a veteran from the US Air Force. I have a issue with this facility not having American speaking individuals in this facility. Like why do I need to translate my stuff to Spanish just for these people to understand what we are saying? They hold people information up. It seems as if the locals hired unqualified friends to work this

Hello, in the year 2013 being a minor and with all my permits and authorizations in order including the authorization THIS since I have a passport from the European Community, and my older brother being the person authorized to represent me, we decided to visit USES. What was my surprise that at the border crossing I was denied entry and all others were authorized ... Now my question is the following: Who should I contact to solve or find out the reason for the rejection of my entry to the USA? ... Should I contact Homeland Security? Should I go directly to the US embassy in Madrid? Should I make an appointment? ... Is there a phone number to call or e-mail? .... Thank you very much

Three years ago I was at his embassy to apply for a visa to participate in the visiting professors program and everything was great. Now that I finish, I have heard that they give some paper for being a returned emigrant and they make it easy for you to return without having to pay for your luggage. How could I find out if you still have that service. Thank you

As a tax paying American I demand a nicer looking embassy. The Italians get a beautiful rennaisance style embassy, and even the Irish have some taste. What do we get? A grey shoebox that doesn't even have columns. How are supposed to impress foreigners without so much as one phallus? Trump, please do something.

I went to apply for a tourist visa and the consular officer did not ask me for the documentation where I show MY INDEFINITE RESIDENCE IN SPAIN, my bank statements, my indefinite work contract, my payroll, WHERE I DEMONSTRATE THAT I AM MARRIED TO A SPANISH CITIZEN AND I HAVE NO NEED TO STAY TO LIVE IN THE USA. Simply, he denied me the visa giving me a paper saying that I do not comply with the residence in Spain? IT IS SOMETHING ILLICIT WHAT THIS LORD DID. "THAT IF I WANT TO RETURN TO REALIZE AN INTERVIEW I HAVE TO PAY BACK THE RATE OF 145 ". Anyway, this person has ruled me for being Latina and Venezuelan. YOU CAN NOT TRUST THIS SERVICE, BECAUSE IT IS LOVING, I CONSIDER THEM THAT THEY ARE SOME THIEVES AND ARE NOT CORRECT. DEFINITELY, YOU ARE LOSING TIME AND MONEY WITH YOURSELF.

I wanted to denounce a possible identity theft of an American military man and they do not have emails. Very little operational for the current time ... It seems that they do not care to protect the identity of their military (Not even the high level as is the case). They will know, but at least, if the affected person sees it, he can ask for explanations for not doing anything to protect his identity

This morning I called to ask about the process of marrying an American and the operator has been very rough with me.
He has given me the information making me feel an idiot and as if he wanted to hang up the phone because someone was busy with something more important than informing a citizen who is asking for help.
When you call to ask for information you don't know, I think the right thing would be to give the information being kind, talk calmly and explain the process in detail. It would also help a little humor to calm the nerves of the person asking for help.

I suppose that due to the necessary security, excessively controlled and restricted access. Even so and it is more and it is the main reason for my negative review is that the opening hours for information only are greatly reduced. As the guards told me (they were saved from my negative review) from 8am to 11.00am and just for information! For any procedure or by appointment or on the web, impossible for an elderly person who does not handle the new technologies
No photo, impossible or far. You are looking for problems, if just in secret and like to publish them after you have them, the problems

Embarrassing and unfortunate procedure. Any doubt or minimal problem becomes an endless nuisance. The worst thing that has happened to me in my professional life. Impossible to talk to a human being by phone to answer questions or request information (fax number for example to send documentation). The answering machine jumps from Spanish to English at will. Painful

A very quick and cordial attention, I went to apply for a visa and after several questions I was approved. As advice to people who are going to process their visa:

Although you are very lazy, fill in the forms yourself, they ask the questions according to what they read on them, they have very little time to determine whether to grant the visa or not, and if they ask you questions on the form and have doubts about what suppose you wrote because that creates distrust. I saw many people who had no idea what they had put on the forms.

And above all be honest, and don't improvise the answers in the moment.

Today I had the interview to apply for a visit visa to Puerto Rico, I am Cuban and I have been in Spain for more than 8 years, I have my life here, my work, in the process of acquiring Spanish nationality and take all that documentation to show that What I wanted was just to go on vacation and return to my country, which is Spain, but I agree with many people who believe that the consular staff already has the decision beforehand without even hearing or at least showing the evidence that you do not want to stay in the USA when you have your life very well organized here in Spain. It seems to me that in just 2 minutes the vice consul does not determine by two words that one does not apply to access his country as a tourist when I only wanted that. Thank you.

They are completely useless. We needed a letter of transportation due to a mishap, and they brushed us off telling us to request for an appointment online and to look online for the necessary documentation. I told them this wasn't a situation where we could be stuck in a country for two extra weeks waiting for our appointment.

The person replied that there should be available slots the next business day. I checked online and of course there wasn't. The other people from the embassy and (add in the consulate in Barcelona) didn't even know how to resolve the issue.

Hello? the solution would be the same situation if any tourist had their passport or green card stolen by your famous thieves that reside in your country.

If you have a serious visa issue, forget about it or demand to talk to an American in the office if at all possible.

I give a star because you cannot give less, the visas to South American people are rejected by the majority, they believe that everyone wants to go live in the United States and something that is not the case in all cases ... DO NOT ASK FOR A VISA they will lose their better money to wait to be Spanish and the ESTA (permission to travel to people with Spanish nationality) is given online in 5 minutes ... you're welcome.

Gentlemen I have not paid you 150 euros to attend me in less than a minute because you have too many people and you want to expedite. One thing is to speed up and another thing is to rule in less than a minute based on 4 questions that were already answered in the form . They do not let you talk or let you show evidence but then they print the paper saying that you have not been able to prove anything and come back next time with ugly evidence. Of course, to return you have to pay the insignificant sum of 150 again and in my case hit 600km of road almost nothing, why ???? So that it is the bitter turn of your turn that you take the paper and that already seems to carry all day with the same phrase in the mouth and tell you to read it and if that I try again aaaa but the money we will not return it because We have dedicated a min of our valuable time. Conclusion: day of work lost in vain, hours on the road of tiredness because not everyone lives in Madrid to be able to come when they want etc to be thrown out. I look embarrassing and outrageous and you have no justification! Do not have so much face and at least do not keep the foreign money. And the ladies on duty who attend a little more respect and education that you would not go wrong.
