This morning I called to ask about the process of marrying an American and the operator has been very rough with me.
He has given me the information making me feel an idiot and as if he wanted to hang up the phone because someone was busy with something more important than informing a citizen who is asking for help.
When you call to ask for information you don't know, I think the right thing would be to give the information being kind, talk calmly and explain the process in detail. It would also help a little humor to calm the nerves of the person asking for help.
